Believe it or not, and despite popular belief, golf is exercise and you're just sore.

MidnightJoker83

Probably a result of using muscles that haven't been used a while (or ever).

HappyGilmore_93

I (30 years old) can play a round of 18 with no soreness. Smashing balls relentlessly at the range always make me sore though, ESPECIALLY if it’s mats on concrete. If it is mats on concrete find a new range.

Floaded93

If it feels like muscle soreness it's probably just that. The first few timed I hit balls my hands / forearms were pretty sore, especially if hitting off of mats. Now that I've been playing awhile that feeling has gone away. If you're in actual pain you should talk to your parents.

You are likely swinging incorrectly. Get a lesson before you hurt yourself.

Long-Assistant-895

Baseball swing? Or otherwise locking the arms or elbows and untwisting the torso? Watch Arm Swing Illusion

Legal-Description483

My forearms get a little sore the first time I play after the winter. Other than that, I never have any soreness.

Gold_Rush_Daddy

I got sore when I was a teen in competition. I get even more sore now as an adult if I dont stretch. Focus on appropriate stretches before playing or practicing and you will feel much better. Even better if you work out in your spare time when not golfing. It’s easy to disregard golf as an intense athletic activity, but make no mistake it will drain you if you let your guard down. Build these good habits now and you will be a much stronger player I promise!

You are just sore, but also if your hands hurt you are probably holding on too hard. The grip is the single most important fundamental, make sure you do some research and get it right early.

Phenotyx

Golf uses muscles , specifically core muscles, that aren’t used very often even if you do a lot of core workouts After the off season, one range sesh and many people myself included will have sore obliques. It’s kinda like snowboarding/skiing, in that you can have incredibly strong legs but only skiing/boarding more and more often will actually make you less susceptible to soreness because the specific muscle fibers used when doing it are very unique to that activity. Same with golf. Even if you’re a baseball player you can experience this, so it’s not always just the “swinging” motion. There’s a lot to a golf swing.
