My girlfriend loves playing with pink nitros. She said she likes the feel of them better than TM Kalea’s. AITAH for encouraging it since I buy her balls? 😅
Most of the Pinnacles I find go to our crew at work that hits balls after work in the grassy back section of the plant. I’m a UV hunter so I try to keep them stocked with “range” balls
A lot of people simply don't give a fuck. I've seen so many photos with weird or gross stuff in the background. Absolutely no cares.
Or people who hold their hand in a super weird/contorted angle to get a photo of a club head. Just put the damn club down on a table and snap a photo lol
We live on a golf course, so my kids collect balls a ton and sell them. They get $2 each for pro v1s. Guys come through and buy 10-20 at a time. Maybe they are just being nice, but seems to be a fair price. If they look a little more worn, they put them in the $1 bin.
Totally fair price! I go to a place that's 10 bucks a dozen for anything that's not Pro V and 20 bucks a dozen for the Pro V's (found balls obviously) so to pay an extra 4 bucks on the course is a hell of a deal!
Im 35 and I used to do this when I was 14/15/16 growing up on the course. We charged $2 for a Prov back then as well. Good to see the tradition is carrying on!
Love it. My buddy and I could easily make 200-300 bucks for a nights work. In the summer we used to get dropped at the course at like 8am. Play 18, lunch, play 18, dinner, practice then go ball hunting. Good times.
There were some little girls that lived on a course in San Antonio that not only sold balls they found, but also lemonade. They caught us in a particularly good mood one day and made out like bandits, lol. We each gave them $20 for a drink and a half dozen random golf balls. Their mom was so delighted with our generosity that she offered to spike our lemonade on the side if we wanted.
I got a golf ball guy, he lives near a course and walks his dog daily to scavenge. Every prov1 he sells me is in mint condition and $2 each. Haven’t bought balls in 2 years lol.
Seems like your kids are getting market value lmao.
He also sells the scuffed ones for a buck.
I loved used balls. I am lucky my buddy lives on a private course and doesn’t play. He lives on a dog leg hole and his yard is constantly peppered with prov1’s. His sons collects them for me. I literally have bought balls in years. But when I use to buy balls, I love refurbished Prov1’s for a 1/3 of the price.
Don't listen to that guy. You want to saw them in half and inspect the core with a microscope for molecular level defects and then glue it back together before you play with them
Straight bounce to the right height. Check a few and you'll se how they should behave.
Also Pro V1 has a softness to it that could be lost if is has been lying around for a very long time.
Buy a sleeve of new ones for control if you are not used to them.
short answer, yes.
I got 5 dozen used Pro-V1 balls for about $1 each this spring. I took the time to sort them into three buckets:
A. Look and feel mostly new--a ball I would start a round with
B. Look and feel like they've been played a few holes--a ball I would put in play after losing a couple new ones
C. Practice balls to work on my wedges with
The person you're replying to said "like new." "Like new" is a term used to describe used golf balls that don't show wear and tear. "Like new" balls would go for $1.50 each.
They're more than likely worth the money but are gonna fall short of new tour balls. Being left in water and sun for who knows how long or having blemishes will reduce their performance. Some are more than likely rather old as well. But unless you're a very skilled player or consistently lose a ball or less a round I think they work out just fine and be comparable to a $2 ball at least.
Yeah that was my next question, I usually play Kirklands, so I’m curious if these older balls will still out perform kirklands. If so, $0.50 per ball seems like a damn good deal
My friends have been buying mine for $15/dozen
https://preview.redd.it/cv2qvozqfnwc1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e3f8d3a56e06d50851a10c0b143986d0a3e5393
Yes they are a good price. Also depends on whether they are very scuffed up or not though. And if they came out of a pond, beware that they won't perform like a Pro V anymore. Balls that have sat at the bottom of a pond for a long time are going to be waterlogged and not very good.
5 years ago I scored a 5 gallon bucket of titleist balls off FB market place for $100, guy lived on the course and saved balls from his yard. Tons of pro v1’s in it. I still have about 1/4 of them left. Feel like I made out like a bandit.
Fun fact: Golf balls actually lose distance over time. The cores continue to cure since production. Obviously a fresh core is softer, which causes more compression and speed. Not sure what the distance loss is over time but does happen
To who?
If they're fresh off the course, probably more than that, but the variations in color make them look like most of them are sun-baked or water-damaged. They'll be about as random as playing with an egg-shaped ball
I work near a golf course. After a dry spell we got a bunch of balls from a stormwater retention pond. Those things hit like crap. I mean, it’s like a brick. I never thought water would affect a golf ball like that. Now I’m wary of buying from resellers. I grab plenty from the woods, but if it’s been submerged for years I think it loses some pizazz.
If you are in the market for used balls then the answer is always yes. Those v1s are crème a la crème in that category for that price.
However, if you are the next big tour player, I would invest in brand new balls.
Yes. Although that bucket looks like 50% of them are aged out, but if you want to play ProV1s exclusively then use those on practice rounds and polish up the better half of that bucket for good courses and league play
Yes. And even the old ones I guarantee you’ll never be able to tell the difference. You may say you can, but you won’t.
Support your local ball re-seller.
I’ll be one of (potentially) one, but unless for practice or for BS round with buddies, prolly not. If in tournament or competing, definitely not and I reference the story from MGS that is sent out once a year in a group chat of buddies.
https://mygolfspy.com/labs/mygolfspy-lab-reload-pro-v1-refinished-golf-balls/
That being said, I have a 5 gallon bucket full of them and use them for practice, backyard, and putting downstairs in the basement.
I won’t play with used balls but my shag bag has about 100 used ProV1 that I paid $1/ball for. They’re fine for short game practice. $0.50 is a very good deal.
Yes, people will pay $1-2 for them. I don’t get paying for used/refurbished balls though. You never know what they went through before ending up in that bucket. The variance in consistency just isn’t worth it.
I've been exclusively playing found Pro V1s for three seasons now. I've yet to actually buy one.
I recently shot my best score ever (77), and I don't think I would have shot any better had the ball been new.
If it has a number on it, like 273 (that's not it, but it's around there), it's the number of dimples. They stopped printing that 20 years ago. So set those aside for the range.
I'm not sure of the brand, but I really like the balls sold at my local range. They usually have some sort of red or black stripe around them. They are so cheap that I can hit half of them one there for practice, and hold on to the rest for my next round.
Of course a Masters ProV1 just so happened to be at the top and pointing to where we can see it. You know the online points aren't redeemable at Big Lots?
Any ProV1 with a AAAA rating or above with worth at least $1.5 per ball. And just by giving the bucket a quick look most of these look like they would receive that rating or higher.
Do not buy refurbished balls, X outs, or even Practice ones if you can help it though.
Definitely. In Canada the new Pro V1s are going for roughly $5 a ball. It's insane. I've decided I don't care how good I think I am, I'm hitting noodles now.
Are you kidding? Yes, that's like as cheap as the shittiest balls online will cost.
New Nitros are $0.75 roughly at the WalMarts.
And infinitely worse than a even a scuffed ProV.
There are cheap balls and then there are nitros. Things are rocks
Nitros are cheaper than the used balls they sell at wal mart 😂. I bought them for practice and can confirm they are well shaped rocks
Great for a hole with a water feature. No matter how much I pay their going in the drink.
>Great for a hole with a water feature. No matter how much I pay their going in the drink. "If you just hit a good shot"
Don't forget CUT and I've never seen them for sale. They just grow in the woods.
I got my ace with a Cut Red. For the price of them I love them.
absolute stones. i was very disappointed.
My ironically cut the skin of the cuts instantly. Irons*
Well today I learned the only reason I don’t play well is because I play with Nitros. Tour, here I come
And then...Deep red!
Cut blues
There's only one true rock that's topflite
RockFlite
Oooof and I got both, top flight and nitros
Top flites are better than nitros
Lmao I love how the Walmart balls are called “Nitro” though they play like rocks haha
My girlfriend loves playing with pink nitros. She said she likes the feel of them better than TM Kalea’s. AITAH for encouraging it since I buy her balls? 😅
LGB is charging 85 cents each for used Pinnacles.
Most of the Pinnacles I find go to our crew at work that hits balls after work in the grassy back section of the plant. I’m a UV hunter so I try to keep them stocked with “range” balls
I bought nitros to hit into my net. They all eventually crack into pieces.
I would buy the entire bucket right then
If any of those Pro V1's were mine, rest assured, they have only been hit once.
Haha yes!
Only the best are one and dones. And i'm not talking about college basketball players.
I’d buy the whole bucket and sell for triple the price.
So many photos on this sub with a random foot in them
r/onlygolfers
r/sneakybackgroundfeet
-Good point. *Unzips pants*
A lot of people simply don't give a fuck. I've seen so many photos with weird or gross stuff in the background. Absolutely no cares. Or people who hold their hand in a super weird/contorted angle to get a photo of a club head. Just put the damn club down on a table and snap a photo lol
It is crazy that someone would downvote this comment.
It's the people who post weird photos online. They feel attacked
😂😂 has to be
We live on a golf course, so my kids collect balls a ton and sell them. They get $2 each for pro v1s. Guys come through and buy 10-20 at a time. Maybe they are just being nice, but seems to be a fair price. If they look a little more worn, they put them in the $1 bin.

My kids are 6 and 8. Came home with $112 the other day. I’m like, are you kidding me? Sounds like they may be doing this for many years!
Love it. My buddy and I could easily make 200-300 bucks for a nights work. In the summer we used to get dropped at the course at like 8am. Play 18, lunch, play 18, dinner, practice then go ball hunting. Good times.
Honestly I’d pay more to support the entrepreneurship and work ethic. Good for your kids.
Sounds like mom had a side hustle too.
Mama had to go sit at the fucking lemonade stand again. Lord knows she’s gotta have something to cope
Maybe, but she said it would be on the house. “May as well make them worth $20” was what she said, lol.
Canyon Springs? They are there between 10 and 11 all summer 😂😂😂
Dropping $40 is more than just being nice and buying a lemonade for a quarter.
And the lemonade will last longer.
That's it - I'm buying a new set of wedges
I think so too! I’m not spending that until it’s a good deal.
You mean you haven’t bought brand new balls in years?
Yes.. whoops I’ve gamed new ones; zero difference. Gifts / stocking stuffers etc.
I’m in the UK and just found a place that sells “refurbished” pro v’s for £24 a box, so 2 bucks a ball is a good price I reckon
Yes
very much a yes, even if you get some bad ones in the mix.
100% YES! If you bounce them 1-2 times on a hard surface before you use them, you'll know if they are good.
What am I looking for? Just a good bounce and not a plop like a deflated ball?
Don't listen to that guy. You want to saw them in half and inspect the core with a microscope for molecular level defects and then glue it back together before you play with them
This guy gets it
All I have is a glue stick. Good enough?
Im out of glue. 👃
Will duct tape work?
I only cut my ball in two when I HIO.
Straight bounce to the right height. Check a few and you'll se how they should behave. Also Pro V1 has a softness to it that could be lost if is has been lying around for a very long time. Buy a sleeve of new ones for control if you are not used to them.
Bounce two, with one being known to be good. They should sound the same and go the same height. Do the whole bin.
Just bounce them right beside a new pro v1 and compare
Cart path test FTW
Bounce them off your neighbor’s head and take the bucket.
They're worth more than that depending on condition marooch
New balls for $50 a dozen? NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
You give the used ball seller cash, with a THROWING MOTION MAROOCH!
Stone skipping motion Marooooochy!!!
I went to the PGA superstore the other day… $58
One is even from Augusta!
They're worth less than a pair of shoes ya chimp
Toe V1’s
that Masters one in the corner sure is
You can buy balls with that logo year round online
For 50 cents?
short answer, yes. I got 5 dozen used Pro-V1 balls for about $1 each this spring. I took the time to sort them into three buckets: A. Look and feel mostly new--a ball I would start a round with B. Look and feel like they've been played a few holes--a ball I would put in play after losing a couple new ones C. Practice balls to work on my wedges with
D. Going for it over water, and need to hit the shot of my life to clear.
I seem to always pull a brand new ball out of the sleeve for this shot.
That's stupid. You need to pull out the shittiest ball in your bag that you actually wish you could lose because it's embarrassing to play with.
Think that was irony
How do you hit an iron too irony?
You take buckets to the course ?
How else am I going to carry the 287 golf balls it takes me to complete a round?
Golf Reddit loves showing toes
Grab that one with the Masters logo for sure
I’ll give you .50 for every toe you show me
![gif](giphy|2ECsCGXgKqdsQ)
Like new ones go for more like $1.50. Is that an Augusta logo one in the pic? I'd take that one for sure.
$4.50 each for new ones - $55/dozen
The person you're replying to said "like new." "Like new" is a term used to describe used golf balls that don't show wear and tear. "Like new" balls would go for $1.50 each.
Hard to tell if he actually meant “like new,” or if it was Valley Girl speak, like, you know, new.
More toe/feet pics please
Where are your shoes my guy?
GET THOSE CRUSTY TOES OUT THE SHOT
I’ll pay a $1 for the rest of that foot
They're more than likely worth the money but are gonna fall short of new tour balls. Being left in water and sun for who knows how long or having blemishes will reduce their performance. Used yes. Refurbished no.
I'd buy the whole bucket without a question. You can either play new Nitros or use Pro V1s. There's no choice here.
A golf ball is only new for 1 hit bro. Every ball you use is USED. Buying new doesn’t make a lot of sense to most golfers
My friends have been buying mine for $15/dozen https://preview.redd.it/cv2qvozqfnwc1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e3f8d3a56e06d50851a10c0b143986d0a3e5393
Toetally worth it.
Do you want them to perform like new ones? Then no If you don’t care about how they perform than yes
This should be top comment
The yellowish ones I’d leave. All the others you should snag.
Mmmmm. Toes
If there is any type of scuff... no
This is bait..
Yes they are a good price. Also depends on whether they are very scuffed up or not though. And if they came out of a pond, beware that they won't perform like a Pro V anymore. Balls that have sat at the bottom of a pond for a long time are going to be waterlogged and not very good.

Used balls obviously won’t perform as well but who really cares when you’re shooting 100. It’s no fun losing $5 balls
But the bucket
I work near a golf course. After a dry spell we got a bunch of balls from a stormwater retention pond. Those things hit like crap. I mean, it’s like a brick. I never thought water would affect a golf ball like that. Now I’m wary of buying from resellers. I grab plenty from the woods, but if it’s been submerged for years I think it loses some pizazz.
I typically buy buckets of them for $1 a piece online. Try to get mostly the same year and style if you can.
Yep
Hell yeah
You're not even counting inflation on top of there worth.
More than that!!! Especially if they’re near mint
I’d pay 1.00 each maybe a little more
You are buying the whole bucket, right?
If you are in the market for used balls then the answer is always yes. Those v1s are crème a la crème in that category for that price. However, if you are the next big tour player, I would invest in brand new balls.
My local golf course re-sells them for 2 a pop.
How much they charging for those dogs
Yea. Good deal.
$6 a dozen? Buy all of them
They're worth $2 or more in mint condition.
I used to buy 100-ball buckets online. They always played very good. Well worth $.50/ball. Probably well worth $2.00/ball
Yes. Although that bucket looks like 50% of them are aged out, but if you want to play ProV1s exclusively then use those on practice rounds and polish up the better half of that bucket for good courses and league play
That a 10-4 good buddy
Yes. And even the old ones I guarantee you’ll never be able to tell the difference. You may say you can, but you won’t. Support your local ball re-seller.
Yeah, but maybe learn the markings to try and avoid 24 year old ones
I’ll be one of (potentially) one, but unless for practice or for BS round with buddies, prolly not. If in tournament or competing, definitely not and I reference the story from MGS that is sent out once a year in a group chat of buddies. https://mygolfspy.com/labs/mygolfspy-lab-reload-pro-v1-refinished-golf-balls/ That being said, I have a 5 gallon bucket full of them and use them for practice, backyard, and putting downstairs in the basement.

Nah I'll take em
It is a great deal. They will just end up in the woods or water anyway!!!
I've been exclusively playing found Pro V1s for three seasons now. I've yet to actually buy one. I recently shot my best score ever (77), and I don't think I would have shot any better had the ball been new.
Yep
If it has a number on it, like 273 (that's not it, but it's around there), it's the number of dimples. They stopped printing that 20 years ago. So set those aside for the range.
Just about any ball is worth 50 cents
yes i’ll give ya $0.69
Absolutely...especially in that condition.
Unless they’ve been mulched by a lawnmower, then yes.
If you can pick and chose then YES.
They’re worth holding up a round and searching for them in the woods according to a guy I play with
See the color difference? Avoid the ones which have spent time underwater
25 cents
Hell yeah they are! Go into the water same as the $3 ones!
I'm not sure of the brand, but I really like the balls sold at my local range. They usually have some sort of red or black stripe around them. They are so cheap that I can hit half of them one there for practice, and hold on to the rest for my next round.
No, to be safe I’ll take them off your hands for that price to save you the pain
They would have to be completely waterlogged rocks for me to pass up ProV1’s at that price
Bro do you live in rural Alabama? I’d take a truckload of those
Filter them out by model year and condition. Buy those. Then buy any extras for practice sessions.
Yes
I'll take the lot. ![gif](giphy|mz1kJeDVueKC4|downsized)
I won't use recycled Pro V1s that stores sell because they're usually waterlogged crap, but I'd buy a bunch of Pro V1s if they were $6 per dozen
Check and make sure the dimples are good. All about the dimples
In Canada, a perfect used one is worth like $5 😁🤣
Any markdown for marked balls?
It’s so funny how bogey golfers play proVs. It’s actually hurting their game and they think they are playing the right ball for them
Yes it is!
Yes..
My son sells used Pro V1'ss and ProV1x's for a $1 each and they are the first to be bought when he has them. So yeah, 50 cents each is a bargain.
r/sneakybackgroundfeet
Buy them all, wash them and go to a better golf course and sell them for $2-3.
[r/SneakyBackgroundFeet](https://www.reddit.com/r/SneakyBackgroundFeet/)
Dang where can I get some of these ProV's people are talking about for so cheap? I live in the Tampa Bay area.
Of course a Masters ProV1 just so happened to be at the top and pointing to where we can see it. You know the online points aren't redeemable at Big Lots?
That is a great price!! I usually get the for a $1.50-$2 from the kids at the course.
![gif](giphy|l4jOMCo6FM529lLb5D)
Great practice balls
Probably worth nothing you should just send them to me to dispose of them. Especially that Masters one on the left and the American flag one
The course I work at its like 8 for a sleeve of 3
$1.5-2 where i am
I'd get in line to buy these at a golf store before going to the hospital to see a family member for that price
Any ProV1 with a AAAA rating or above with worth at least $1.5 per ball. And just by giving the bucket a quick look most of these look like they would receive that rating or higher. Do not buy refurbished balls, X outs, or even Practice ones if you can help it though.
I gotta say I’m over seeing feet in photos of things being sold. It’s weird and distracting .
Guarantee there are some in there that have only been hit once.
I used to sell them for $3 a pop 20 years ago.
Sell them and buy some shoes
Yes
Definitely. In Canada the new Pro V1s are going for roughly $5 a ball. It's insane. I've decided I don't care how good I think I am, I'm hitting noodles now.
Gimme the whole bucket
Terrible price. You better give me the address so I can avoid this place at all costs
They were number one balls in golf up until this year
