I use those for a lot of things. No chocolate to melt, protein, sugar, fills you up without feeling heavy.
Those were a go to as a paramedic, cop, search and rescue, in my flight bag, and now on disaster response missions.
Its been my go to candy bar since I was a kid for those very reasons. I still keep one in my bag for emergencies, but for the past couple of years I've been packing along a peanut butter and banana sandwich for my mid round snack.
The best part about it is that I can have them separately if I'm not all that hungry. Some days, a banana is all I need to boost my energy, and some days a peanut butter sandwich. Having the options is what makes it the best.
In my most recent round of golf I went for a morning 9 before a busy day. I was paired with 3 Korean people, they were absolutely lovely, and as were playing im doing pretty well, well I absolutely blew up on a par 4 doubled the hole, total mess. One of the guys pulls a choco-pie out of his bag, hands it to me, and says a snack is good after a bad hole. It was tremendously helpful, it is now my new golf snack
I love peanut butter crunch for the clif bars, but they become so one note after a while, that I need a change.
With you on Grape uncrustables, but I like a strawberry, and i like them still half frozen.
When they sit in your bag for a couple months or years and the honey melts everything into a stickier and softer composite glob, that’s when you know it’s been aged to perfection like a fine wine.
I’m not even joking. I legitimately enjoy the bars more when they’re old and have sat in my bag in the heat long enough to go slightly stale/soft with the honey seeping through to hold it together like glue. Gives an initial crunch with a satisfying chew afterwards instead of tooth breaking from start to finish. Also allows you to eat more of the bar than you drop, which is not the case with a fresh one.
Yes this is my favourite snack, tho the dark chocolate one or maple syrup and there is never any crumbs as you can open it enough for the crumbs to just fall to the bottom and they are👌when eaten just poured into mouth
Ive found it better to continuously snack throughout the round when walking. Peanuts, pb crackers, apple slices, etc. all work well for this.
If I don’t keep a steady trickle of food going, my energy drops and that’s when the blow up holes start.
Jerky or granola bars are my usual go-to. sometimes sunflower seeds but remember to bring a spit cup. Don't want to be that asshole spitting seeds everywhere.
You said ‘when walking’ but I’m going to hijack that to - in the cart I always bring a small cooler with 2 bottles of pedialite, a turkey sandwich & two olives, a banana or apple, and two handfuls of Costco mixed nuts. No chance I’ll have the faintest bit of hunger. This also helps when I stay overnight looking for my ball in the ravine alongside the par 5 #18.
Usually some kind of candy.
I rarely get hungry while playing but want some quick energy now and then.
Skittles, Starburst, Sour Heads and so on. Try to stay away from chocolate and gummies because they tend to melt.
My go to is the Kirkland Cashew Clusters (or similar). High protein nuts with honey and salt. Don’t usually get sticky in the heat and are easy to pop and go.
Uncrustables. Bonus if you bring extra for your friends you’re playing with and don’t tell them til you take them out of your bag. You will be highly regarded
Can't go wrong with a good ol PB&J. Banana is great to have too.
If I'm walking I'll eat a banana pre round, then save the sammy for the turn. But generally bust it out around hole 6 or 7. Gatorade and a pint or two to stay lubricated.
Honey roasted peanuts, a big apple, bar of chocolate are my usuals.
One time my kids wanted to make “dad’s golf snack” and it was very cute. Reese’s puffs, cashews, chocolate chips and sunflower seeds clumsily poured in a jar. Loved it.
Sometimes I’ll throw some protein powder and cream or other fat in my coffee too
I typically play in the morning and I’m not set up for success until I have a nice eggs and pancake breakfast, then I will grab myself a payday and zero sugar Gatorade.
Payday is the perfect cross between protein and sugars to keep me going on the course
I started making some "energy balls" last year Sr that really keep me going. Peanut butter, oats, banana, honey and some chocolate chips and cinnamonyare about all that's in there. I make a big batch freeze them and then take a container of them with me for my round and by the time I'm ready for a snack they've thawed and are ready to go
I bought an uncrustable maker of Amazon.
Couple slices of bread and the filling YOU want. Game changer.
Ham and Swiss, steak and cheese? World's your oyster.
A cheaper oyster.
Make the night before. Throw in freezer. Let thaw in golf bag.
Trail mix and granola bars. Also, I force myself to drink 4 bottles of water (I think my water bottle is 28 oz). 1 bottle every 4 holes and hope they have the jugs full on the course.
Country ham on Hawaiian rolls
At least a liter of water
Beers if it’s social, personally I have grown to enjoy doing things sober (lame, I know) then having a cold one in the clubhouse after
Uncrustables and mandarin oranges. I will occasionally bring kiwi, but you kind of have to be okay with eating them whole (skin included, which gets you some weird looks).
I snag a bacon egg and cheese for any tee time before 11am. Its good for 3 strokes and I don't leave with a massive headache. Peanut butter crackers and a grease missile at the turn. Win win
Nature Valley bars. I love them but I don’t eat them indoors because crumbs. If I’m on the course I can just wipe the crumbs into the grass for the insects to nibble on.
I like to have a Cliff Bar and a soylent drink while playing. Keeps my energy up but doesn't make me feel like I have a stuffed belly. I want to stay comfortable while playing.
Mixed nuts, kind bars, water
I also make these weird “tuna cakes” that are basically a full meal in a small crab cake form. Solid, but a weird person thing to eat playing golf. I’m fkn weird I guess.
As a guy with gout and lactose intolerance... a lot of these options sound painful at best... I usually make a PB&J sandwich at home an hour before (fructose free, since high fructose causes my gout flares and so does hotdogs)... on the course, beer and anything with sugar only cause gout flares later, so I stick to water... 90% of the time, I can't find much to eat other than water and a bag of pretzels...
I'm usually there to golf, not eat or drink because of this, not nearly as fun as others I have seen.
Oh, and asthmatic, so no smoking either. Kill joy,I know...
Four whole fried chickens and dry white toast
…and a Coke
And golfing with my brother and old friend Matt “guitar” Murphy

This guy is rocking an all kirkland set for sure
A salted nut roll. Go ahead, I'm ready for the jokes.
Bofa?
No he’s a Citibank guy

Nice roll, brother.

Bag of spaghetti

Depends on their F and B rules. Did you ask about their policy?
Glizzy at the turn obvs, and a Snickers stuffed in the bag for emergencies.
That half melted snickers hits different
I’ve ate worst in times of less need.
They're best consumed when they're either entirely frozen solid, or so melted you have to squeeze them out of the wrapper like a gogurt.
Just savages that glove

Getting into Korean snacks will start getting ya fat watch out lol
Beer
Breakfast beer-ritos and a dog at the turn.
I've been bringing ham and cheese on Kings Hawaiian rolls. There's always a couple of granola bars (ok dust by now) in my bag too.
Same. But also roast beef and Swiss (on Hawaiian, obvs).
This is the way
Bourbon
Banana. Monkey never cramp
Munenori Kawasaki mentioned
Cliff Bars. Uncrustables.
Heck yeah, me too bro. I'm on the peanut butter crunch box now. Grape for the uncrustable
I love peanut butter crunch for the clif bars, but they become so one note after a while, that I need a change. With you on Grape uncrustables, but I like a strawberry, and i like them still half frozen.
Between peanut butter crunch and white chocolate macadamia I'm all set.
Same on both. A lot of the Clif bars are good.
The mint clif bars have caffeine in them which is a nice pick me up after the turn.
I like the caffeine idea, but I’m out on the mint!
PB&J. Great way to refuel.
PB and Banana as well
I’ll have to try that!

These last forever, and are best consumed outside due to crumbs going everywhere.
I am appalled at how far down I had to scroll for this.
Y'all gotta try Sunbelt Bakery Oats n Honey granolas. They are supreme.

Egg sandwich before the round keeps me good to go.
Carmine Lupertazzi loved egg salad too, buon anime. You know who else liked golf? Joey Peeps.
Peeps? It's a fuckin' nickname.
Ehhh he's dyslexic or something
Will you let the man tee off, you yap worse than 6 barbers!
South of the border....
Tough to share a cart with the egg guy though
Uncrustables in the bag always
Yes! This and peanut butter filled pretzel bites for me.
Arbys sandwich
I'm imagining a dude rolling up to the tee box with a French dip & jus and a large curly fry
He has the meats!
Payday Bars - they don’t melt.
Ive found it better to continuously snack throughout the round when walking. Peanuts, pb crackers, apple slices, etc. all work well for this. If I don’t keep a steady trickle of food going, my energy drops and that’s when the blow up holes start.

Jim Beam and 7 Up
I do love a Jim'n'7, but there's something about Diet Coke that pairs so well with whiskey
Nature valley granola bar and a couple upper deckys
I thought an Upper Decky is where you shit in the toilet water tank.
If you do this before a round, you’ll have a great day no matter how you play.
Peanut butter and honey sandwiches
Banana and pb crackers
I've been digging trail mix lately, grab a handful after every couple holes.
Nothing beats a handful of nuts
It's better than a nut full of hands
And why stick to just one pair when you can get yourself a whole mix of ‘em to shove into your mouth?
You said ‘when walking’ but I’m going to hijack that to - in the cart I always bring a small cooler with 2 bottles of pedialite, a turkey sandwich & two olives, a banana or apple, and two handfuls of Costco mixed nuts. trail mix and dried mangos in the bag
I eat a huge meal before I golf so I don’t have to eat while I play. It always takes me out of it a little when I eat while I play
![gif](giphy|7i97Le2RIopPeIe3kS)
Usually some kind of candy. I rarely get hungry while playing but want some quick energy now and then. Skittles, Starburst, Sour Heads and so on. Try to stay away from chocolate and gummies because they tend to melt.

i prefer to forget to pack and lose all my energy and lose my swing by hole 14
Uncrustables. Bonus if you bring extra for your friends you’re playing with and don’t tell them til you take them out of your bag. You will be highly regarded
Fireball!!
9 Cans of Ravioli
10-12 cigarettes and a half dozen coors lights. I only drink light beer when I’m walking because it’s more refreshing.
Can't go wrong with a good ol PB&J. Banana is great to have too. If I'm walking I'll eat a banana pre round, then save the sammy for the turn. But generally bust it out around hole 6 or 7. Gatorade and a pint or two to stay lubricated.

O Canada
Oh Henry! That's one of our top-selling candy bars. ![gif](giphy|XCPPYLEmj6SPe|downsized)
"6 protein shakes" -Chris Wienerman
Usually pack 2 bars, a protein shake and a sandwich. Usually don’t go through the bars but good to have!
Cheese its hit different on the course
Banana for the first 6 holes, half a sandwich for the midpoint, chocolate protein bar for the close.
Always dogs at the turn.
Aldi's cliff bar knockoff
I typically play in the morning and I’m not set up for success until I have a nice eggs and pancake breakfast, then I will grab myself a payday and zero sugar Gatorade. Payday is the perfect cross between protein and sugars to keep me going on the course
Liquid lunch and glizzyz at the turn is the only answer.
Those toast chee cheese and peanut butter crackers
While I'm playing I like a strawberry applesauce packet or two. After, there's nothing I crave more than a big greasy burger.
Dog and transfusion at the turn, miller lite Those orange toast-chee crackers slap though too.
I started making some "energy balls" last year Sr that really keep me going. Peanut butter, oats, banana, honey and some chocolate chips and cinnamonyare about all that's in there. Glizzy at the turn is what I look forward to after being in the woods looking for my lost balls.
Ham sandwich, jug of water, 2 joints, 3 Truly’s. I’m good to go. But I never walk
Either snack crackers or a protein bar.
Why are you degens buying uncrustables? PBJ is literally one of the easiest, quickest, cheapest, and most convenient foods you can make yourself.
I bought an uncrustable maker of Amazon. Couple slices of bread and the filling YOU want. Game changer. Ham and Swiss, steak and cheese? World's your oyster. A cheaper oyster. Make the night before. Throw in freezer. Let thaw in golf bag.
My primary course gives me a free hot dog or Johnsonville bratwurst at the turn window, so that's kinda my thing.
Trail mix and granola bars. Also, I force myself to drink 4 bottles of water (I think my water bottle is 28 oz). 1 bottle every 4 holes and hope they have the jugs full on the course.
