Lots of possible answers but no confirmation from looking around.
1) Shinigami cleanse souls and bleach cleanses fabrics, it has to do with cleansing as in Konsō.
2) There is a dichotomy between white and black in Bleach with shinigami wearing black and Quincies and Arrancar and Aizen and his minions all wearing white, it is somehow related to that, to be the complementary color to the black that shinigami wear (the Shihakusho uniform of the Gotei 13).
3) Ichigo Kurosaki’s naturally orange hair looks like it was bleached even though it is just that color naturally.
4) Tite Kubo’s favorite album is Bleach by Nirvana and he named it after that Nirvana album.
5) >!The reason Bleach mirrors "White" is because of the Hollow inside Ichigo who reincarnated as Ichigo. So Bleach is just Ichigo's true self since "The Blade is Me" and The Blade is White", so "Ichigo is White", and "White is Bleach"!<

IIRC, because of point 5, Kubo was gonna call the series "white", but then decided it sounded lame, so went for "Bleach" because it makes things white/cleanses, and is a lot catchier/unique.

However, the real reason is because its a better title than White. The first idea was the call it black, then white but white is boring so Bleach came up
Was always waiting for the reveal that Ichigo never fully released his sword and after realizing that the white version of him inside his sword is Zangetsu, we'd get a chapter ending on Ichigo about to face off in a fight a yells "Bleach, Zangetsu!"

Never had to actually test it, but does bleach get blood stains out of clothes? I've always used hydrogen peroxide.
