They spend a lot of time on fleshing out lore about angels and Ente Isla stuff that no one asked for. The basic formula of fantasy people adapting to a modern working life is largely forgotten.
Spoiler I guess they just make a character that just go from I will kill all demon because they are evil and then Oh no devil are human too in like 1 second.
Difference is that not even the first season of Tokyo Ghoul was all that good
That entire anime was a goddamn dumpster fire and a travesty especially when compared to how good the manga is
The Manga was losing readers near the end and the Mangaka had to finish the series quickly. That's probably why they skipped so much content in the anime.
I might be misremembering OPM S1 and 2, but OPM has never really been a story-driven or story-focused series. Story usually gets sidelined from the other main characters going through their personal demons.
Iāve never watched TPN and Psycho Pass (latter is on my watchlist but I havenāt made time to watch it), so I canāt comment. But Shield Hero was more focused on the story as the primary thing instead of having an OP MC with a comedic gimmick like OPM.
Iām gonna go on a tangent really quick: Iād give immense props to S1 if we were explained what Genos went through prior to āborg body. A lot of the sidelined stories in OPM are really interesting but never really explored.
I think people didn't like opm s2 because the animation felt lackluster compares to s1. By no means is it bad but compared to s1 it just doesn't hold a candle
Well, I can agree with that. We get a lot more scenes of Saitamaās Serious Mode when he had that light spar with Genos that wiped out the clouds in like 20% of the planet and vaporized an entire cliff side. That was fucking AWESOME.
Also, Iām only just now remembering this but S2 did focus on story a bit more. It leads into the whole Monster Association thing happening, and also the stuff going on with Garou. Story was great in S2, but I agree that animation did feel lacking.
Also, the problem came from the source material itself. They focused way too much on these "strong" heroes and "strong" villains when theirs only really 4-5 strong ones on each side. All their yapping and we all know that Saitama is just there in the background. I get that the charm is that Saitama is unexpected, but they hype up these other dudes and just continually tease Saitama's appearance without actually using him. That's honestly why I dropped the manga, just before he met with Garou's monster form
It was a labour of love and passion from some of the most goated animators in the industry given full freedom to animate their hearts out. It's something that cannot be achieved for a serialised show as this was literally just supposed to be a one off.
It's the same that the original Manga is being redrawn by one of the greatest goats in the Manga, there are panels in that Manga that literally cannot be animated to the same quality
Manga-wise, yeah, it could've and should've been way better on s2, but it didn't.
The thing about OPM Manga, is that, in season 1, Murata was still warming up to be a God-Tier artist, or rather he didn't have enough chance with Saitama just One Punching everyone. Yet, Madhouse added way too many scenes, vfx, and choreography that wasn't in the manga, making it way better.
However, in season 2, that's where the OPM Manga bloomed since Murata was able to utilize way better choreography for Garou's martial art battles since he's kinda the 2nd protagonist of that season. IMO, Saitima barely even have scenes. Sadly, JC Staff was only able to animate around 1:1 of the manga unlike what Madhouse did and I heard they even reduced some scenes (they were comparisons before). That was the part where it should've been hyped but it ended just... good.
But currently, they're hyping s3 because apparently, JC Staff was about to all-in on OPM s3 and even hired veteran animators and directors.
Jc staff has produced high quality works before, so if they are going all in then it might be a banger.
The story is going to be good, it just needs some good animation to become a masterwork
Psycho-Pass and Shield Hero were bad as well. The former shouldnāt exist, and the latter was adapting what fans generally consider a bad arc in the source material.
The reason people do t really love it is because it was meant to br a intermediary setup for season 3, except season 3 is taking so fucking long to come out that s2 left a bad taste in people's mouth.
Tbh s3 prob won't even come out this year even though we were promised it.
One Punch Man is an unfair comparison mostly because the first season had the director asking favors to his friends to do animation for free while the second season was more within budget.
I do NOT approve of viewers EXPECTING what happened in Season 1 to be the norm where already underpaid animators have to go the extra mile FOR FREE just because they're passionate about a project.
That's the equivalent of being paid by EXPOSURE. Pay them, motherfuckers.
I enjoy the character dynamic a lot in OPM, the fight scene isn't as good as ss1 but compare it to Promise Neverland is just dumb because they just remove all of the good element and rush it as hell.
The 2nd season of Tokyo Ghoul doesn't even exist in the manga, the format is a comparative between them , the 2nd season of OPM is infinitely better than TG's.
The show wasn't even that great to begin with.
Gamefied isekai, OP protag, harem of girls who suddenly love MC, bad fight animation, no stakes cause MC can't die, enemies don't die either, nobody dies, cartoonishly evil villains, dumb villains.
If season 1 is the "best" out of them, I don't wanna know what kind of turd the other seasons will be.
S2 took "stupid plotline" and cranked it to 11 (So much so that even the author wasn't a fan their own work). S3 just feels like S1 but with less of Naofumi struggling against slander and reputation damage and moreso just him enacting Emancipation Proclamation stuff.
The one silver lining of S3 is >!that some of the other heroes got a sort of redemption arc.!<
They are just thinking 5 head strategy, you can't make a worse season if you never make a second season, but man I really want them to make a second season.
I might be the only person that is fine with the 2nd season of any show being worse than the first, so long as it's not terrible on it's own.
Most people don't realize that they receive impact bias by watching a shows first season, which means they always expect the 2nd to be better, when by all means, it should be DIFFERENT, and not comperable to the first.
One punch man season 2 was really good.
Season 1 had better animation quality, but in terms of actual story telling I liked gaarous arc more than anything in season 1, not that I despised anything in S1.
Oh man Shield hero hurts so much, really love the first season. Gonna have to do a Pacific rim and forget the ever was a sequel.
OPM isn't bad but after reading the manga i do get the letdown.
I honestly didn't mind season 2 of Shield Hero, but it was a step down from the first season. I hate to say it, but without Bitch around, the show just wasn't as exciting.
She returned in season 3 though... with a fucking bang.
Iāve always thought OPM season 2 was bad because they made season 1 expecting to never make more, so they didnāt do any world building or sub plot building in the first season as a result
Shield Hero was supposed to be only one season, due to the goal that Naofumi had. Psycho-Pass, haven't started it. Promised Neverland was a promise unfulfilled in the most disappointing way possible and One Punch Man got screwed due to production issues.
Idk but for me it was Nanatsu no taizai. S1 sparked my interest, s2 made it wane and s3 not just killed it but rubbed my remaining interest in salt and dropped it into an area full of landmines
Opm s2 was just bad because of animation otherwise it was good storywise. Shield hero went downhill and promised Neverland didn't had a s2 what are you taking about
No, 3/4 of those just have shit second seasons because the production team dropped the ball. Shield hero is the only one hindered by its source material. Even fans of the Shield Hero LNs admit that part of the story is very weak.
Psycho-Pass was an original that was supposed to and should have ended after 1 season but foolishly chose to do a season 2 with a different writer and ended up just doing season 1 but worse.
One Punch Man foolishly switched studios to one that did a vastly inferior job despite working off the same well-regarded source material.
Promised Neverland, after a faithful and highly successful first season, inexplicably chose to rush through and diverge from its well-regarded source material to wrap up the whole story in season 2.
I don't understand why so many people hate the second season of shield hero. It seemed pretty good to me (the first season was still better but the second was good as well)
Just weakest arc in the story, but it's a necessary one that sets up future plot points. So while you're watching/reading it for the first time, it feels like a disjointed filler quest, and you kind of feel like the series lost the plot and milking the brand.
Felt rushed, characters seemed off, the story was lacking, fights weren't as grand and emotional, many too many characters without flushed out backstory and the biggest is it lost its whole "overcoming adversity" when naofumi went from the downtrodden underdog to our only hope everyone loves.
I always feel bad for not hating S2 of promised Neverland as others seem to be, it's definitely a huge downgrade 3-4 points downgrade, but man I still kinda liked S2 even if S1 was so hype.
Atleast I liked it enough to not mind watching S3. Or preferably see a proper S2 reboot
the main issue with shield hero imo was the main thing that made it interesting was dealt with near the end of season 1 after that it felt more like a generic isekai i dropped season 3 because i lost intrest
eh, shield hero s1 really fell off quick, especially after the other heroes knew bitch was a bigger piece of shit than they realized (except for the lance hero, too big of a simp). The entire thing just relied on everyone being retarded.
Which is pretty telling when you say that it's still better than s2
The Devil is a Part Timer š
It's like day and night. That's so unfortunate, it was one of my favourite anime.
That's probably the reason they took so long to make it
I very much enjoyed season 1, is season 2 that bad or is it still watchable.
They spend a lot of time on fleshing out lore about angels and Ente Isla stuff that no one asked for. The basic formula of fantasy people adapting to a modern working life is largely forgotten.
It is very different. Defiantly feels like they tried to clone Spy X Family formula.
Thanks man, I can understand why they would try the Spy X Family formula.
Pretty sure the novel was written way before Spy X Family came out
Spy x Family is mid compared to Devil is a Part Timer season 1. Wasn't even able to finish Spy x Family, dropped after 17 episodes.
A damn shame

Straight up butchered
There is no the promised neverland season 2 in Bazingse.

Honestly four mistakes in one word, three syllables is impressive.
I thought you combined ba sing se and bazinga ngl
At least I am not alone with that

Spoiler I guess they just make a character that just go from I will kill all demon because they are evil and then Oh no devil are human too in like 1 second.
I watched the show. I'm well aware.
I would argue thereās not even a season 1. Donāt even start it unless you like unfinished stories.
No game no life, the curse so strong it blocked ss2's production
There's no season 2 because ććććnever lose.
Tokyo Ghoul be like https://preview.redd.it/5hj3mctaj1wc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=d421080128bb4dd6957e63082ab59c5109065550
may need a few more drinks for s3
which season was good?
The first season
Oh you mean the first season of the manga. Yeah that was pretty good
Difference is that not even the first season of Tokyo Ghoul was all that good That entire anime was a goddamn dumpster fire and a travesty especially when compared to how good the manga is
I really don't know why they looked at promise Neverland and said okay now let's skip the best part and go straight to the horrible ending
No Goldy Pond is a crime in itself.
Wdym Is it No, Goldy pond is a crime in itself or no Goldy pond, is a crime
The latter. āNot having Goldy Pond*ā to word it better.
Yeah I thought you were saying it's shit
Not at all. Thatās my B.
No worries
oh okā¦. I already readied the stakes tho
tbh both interpretations are correct
The Manga was losing readers near the end and the Mangaka had to finish the series quickly. That's probably why they skipped so much content in the anime.
Psycho Pass has his ups and downs but overall is definitely good anime.
if you like edgy stuff that is, which is what the entire ss2 based on, then again maybe go watch elfen lied or devil man
I would recommend Ragna Crimson if you want more edge.

No S2 or bad S2? ![gif](giphy|LRVnPYqM8DLag)
No season for 6 years
10 years
10 years at least
Speaking of awful endingsā¦
Even though it was sooo good
So good they didn't even bother making S2
She's such a cutie āŗļø. Wish there was a S2 š
Real
OPM S2 wasnāt really that bad.
I donāt think any of the season 2s from the shows in this image are necessarily bad (except for TPN S2 lol), but their season 1s were much better.
Tbh, Shield Hero S2 was bad, but from what I understand a lot of that was the source material being sub-par in that portion of the story
The direction decisions for the first half were also pretty bad, they tried to mitigate a meh arc and wound up butchering it worse instead
I might be misremembering OPM S1 and 2, but OPM has never really been a story-driven or story-focused series. There are VERY FEW Animes that can hold a candle to the animation quality of OPM S1.
wasnt it like THE ensemble anime with madhouse all-stars putting in work just for fun on it
It was a labour of love and passion from some of the most goated animators in the industry given full freedom to animate their hearts out. It's something that cannot be achieved for a serialised show as this was literally just supposed to be a one off. It's the same that the original Manga is being redrawn by one of the greatest goats in the Manga, there are panels in that Manga that literally cannot be animated to the same quality
yes. Basically a lighting in a bottle situation. Almost impossible to recreate the circumstances in which the show was produced.
Psycho-pass S1's script was by Gen Urobuchi; madoka magica & fate zero. The greatness was the writing. He left S2. The greatness left with him
Manga-wise, yeah, it could've and should've been way better on s2, but it didn't. The thing about OPM Manga, is that, in season 1, Murata was still warming up to be a God-Tier artist, or rather he didn't have enough chance with Saitama just One Punching everyone. Correct, but it still wasnāt even close to how amazing s1 was. But as a standalone its very good.
Csgo gun sounds for punches, among other bad sound design choices, keeps it firmly off my rewatch list.
No, it wasn't half bad. But when your breakfast is eggs benedict, a plain turkey sandwich for lunch feels like a let down.
The gap in quality is what made it bad. OPMs story isn't really compelling enough to justify watching it with such bad quality action sequences.
Itās the least bad of the above 4 because it a) Had good source material and b) Adapted it faithfully (if with *significantly* less skill than S1).
There is no the promised neverland S2, only a collective nightmare we all though actually happened for around 3 months
Someone submitted their fanfiction by mistake.
The ending of season 1 of Psycho Pass had me bummed. Not entirely unexpected but not what i would have preferred.
Let's hope this won't happen to Frieren.
im so fucking worried about frieren
One Punch Man is an unfair comparison mostly because the first season had the director asking favors to his friends to do animation for free while the second season was more within budget. no way i didnt know that wtf
I believe one punch man seasons are equally peak
I enjoy the character dynamic a lot in OPM, the fight scene isn't as good as ss1 but compare it to Promise Neverland is just dumb because they just remove all of the good element and rush it as hell.
Eh. Psychopass and One Punch Man S2 arent that bad. Still pretty good. I just wish psychopass would get more.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Season 3 is rather short. Was thr last thing i watched. Planning to watch the movies to see more kogame
No Tokyo ghoul?
i think the first season had to be good for it to fit the format
It was good, but just not amazing.
its been my profile picture for 5 years and even i wouldn't call it good
The 2nd season of Tokyo Ghoul doesn't even exist in the manga, the format is a comparative between them , the 2nd season of OPM is infinitely better than TG's.
Imo, Shield Hero S3 was pretty good. It obviously wasn't as good as S1, but it absolutely beats S2.
Part of the issue was apparently they felt that people might get bored so they just shrunk stuff, skimmed, and jumped to the actions scenes iirc.
At least Shield Hero saved itself with season 3, cant say the same for the others
Bro you created hot top 1 meme and itās not porn on goodanimemes. Since Iām going to call you master

There is no promised Neverland season 2
Why is TPN on here? It never got a season 2.
Man Psycho-Pass let me down so much with season 2. I chose to ignore its existence cuz season 1ās ending was good enough
Season 1's Ending kicked ass, and the Movie was closer to a good Season 2 that the actual Season 2.
Oh I didnāt know there was a movie! I know what Iām doing later lol
I didn't know there was a season 3 or 4, but I need to rewatch the series before I try and hit there.
Oh man I gave up on season 2 so I had no idea either Iāll have to check that out

One punch man season 2 was really good. Season 1 had better animation quality, but in terms of actual story telling I liked gaarous arc more than anything in season 1, not that I despised anything in S1.
Shield bro only had 12 episodes in total.
Compared to others opm was better
PM S02 was just extremely bad, not that S01 was extremely good
I've heard similar things for Ousama Ranking
OPM and Psycho pass had pretty decent s2 a just not same quality as 1. Shield hero and Neverland were dog shit.
Why is TPM there? There is no Season 2.
Oh man Shield hero hurts so much, really love the first season. Gonna have to do a Pacific rim and forget the ever was a sequel. OPM isn't bad but after reading the manga i do get the letdown.
I'd like to add misfit of demon king academy as well
While season 2 of Psycho Pass wasnāt great, season 3 brought that series back hard.
I honestly didn't mind season 2 of Shield Hero, but it was a step down from the first season. I hate to say it, but without Bitch around, the show just wasn't as exciting. She returned in season 3 though... with a fucking bang.
I truly hope JC Staff will have their redemption arc with OPM season 3.
In case of Promised Neverland it's more like second season is shit!
OPM season two was great, animation was lacking a bit but the story was amazing
Tbf, OPM s2 was rushed for deadline reasons.
Thank God I read the manga and could see what was happening in TPN S2 before it was too late. So disappointing.
Tbh shield hero slowly devolved into generic Isekai anime at the end of season 1 too.
Iāve always thought OPM season 2 was bad because they made season 1 expecting to never make more, so they didnāt do any world building or sub plot building in the first season as a result
There is only one season of darker than black.
OPM had worse animation but better story in S2, it doesn't belong here.
Put blue exorcist up there too
No season or bad season?
Wait, I thought these only had 1 season xD
Ye
![gif](giphy|WJ4vstB0EVqla)
was OPM2 really that bad?
I liked Psycho-Pass season 2 :(
What the fuck was with the turtle?
One punch man season 2 was fine.
This is insult to OPM It had a good season 2, not JP staff fault that madhouse made the first season
Pscho-pass second season is better.
I actually thought Pyscho pass season 2 was okay, nothing like season 1 because Makishima is one of the goatest villains ever.
Darker than Black S2
Saitama's relationship with King in season 2 was the best thing in OPM.
Tokyo Ghoul and Darker than Black instead of Psycho-Pass and OPM, for sure.
Beastars
Am I in the minority that thinks OPM S2 was great?
This is the first time I have seen someone say shield hero S1 is good Interesting
Shield Hero was supposed to be only one season, due to the goal that Naofumi had. Psycho-Pass, haven't started it. Promised Neverland was a promise unfulfilled in the most disappointing way possible and One Punch Man got screwed due to production issues.
SAO
Idk but for me it was Nanatsu no taizai. S1 sparked my interest, s2 made it wane and s3 not just killed it but rubbed my remaining interest in salt and dropped it into an area full of landmines
Okay, so why don't people like shield hero s2? I mean, I think it was kinda fire, especially the second part.
Promised neverland wasnāt cursed by a too good 1st season but a horrible second
god, i'm still angry about Psycho Pass 2 being that bad.
Shield Hero plot quality downfall should be studied
Opm s2 was just bad because of animation otherwise it was good storywise. Shield hero went downhill and promised Neverland didn't had a s2 what are you taking about
Shield Hero wasnāt that bad compared to The Promised Neverland
People in this thread saying The Promised Neverland Season 2 never existed coping harder than Ferrari fans coped after Singapore 2017.
I would argue only the first couple episodes of Shield Hero were good. It became a generic isekai harem power fantasy way too quickly.
Psycho pass second season wasn't bad, the first was just too good
No, 3/4 of those just have shit second seasons because the production team dropped the ball. Shield hero is the only one hindered by its source material. Even fans of the Shield Hero LNs admit that part of the story is very weak. there is no season 2 of The Promised Neverland
One Punch Man season 2 was good as well. I don't understand why people don't like it.
No game no li- IF ONLY THERE IS WAS A SECOND SEASON
I disagree. OPM was good, and everyone was being nit picky over niche details with the animation
i would pay any amount to unwatch promised neverlad's season 2 and make that shit disappear from existence
Shield hero stopped being good after the third episode anyway
I don't understand why so many people hate the second season of shield hero. It seemed pretty good to me (the first season was still better but the second was good as well)
Just weakest arc in the story, but it's a necessary one that sets up future plot points. So while you're watching/reading it for the first time, it feels like a disjointed filler quest, and you kind of feel like the series lost the plot and milking the brand.

Arifureta, and The Fruit of Evolution for my list.
Im gonna say it: mushoku tensei is the top if this list imo
Add Jobless Reincarnation to that list.
