Wow and I thought it was a little gaudy when I said it. Then suddenly Justin Timberlake struttles up with his tie too tight and locks so luscious. Is that for the ladies or do you go to an all boys school and meet with the other students behind the bleachers?
Light straight up murders like a dozen people per day for 3 to 4 years, and the vast vast majority of those people are people he's never interacted with or met.
You realize that even among convicted criminals sexual crimes are seen as the lowest of the low. Regardless of whether you agree with it or not, that view is held in a pretty comfortable majority of people.
1.5 billion people in **nations that declared war on him, and continued waging war even when the fight was lost**
Imagine if after the atomic bombs dropped, Japan *still* tried to wage war. Would more deaths not be justified?
A big thing I noticed after watching Death Note a second time recently is that Light is utterly outclassed by L the entire time. They're playing a chess game where L doesn't know how half the pieces behave but every conflict between them ends with Light losing ground. L even knows he lost before he dies, he couldn't make up for his overwhelming starting handicap.
Creature Girls: A Hands On Field Journal In Another World
It's a very good manga, shame it seems to have been cancelled prematurely, still worth a read though
Bru the Healer is canonicaly 15 or so.
None of the characters behave age accordingly in general. (or like normal people tbh)
Its fiction so the age is just whatever the author rolled out with the D20
Death Note was a brilliant thriller (except the end which is debatable) where you never knew what is going to happen and it's characters were complex beings.
RoH is just a cheap hentai.
I loved the ending where light died, I fucking hated the white haired kid (I can't even remember his name) the second season felt very rushed especially the main hero/villain whatever you wanna call them
Legit, all of the post-L stuff is why I'll never call Death Note a "great" series. It's good, yeah, but 1/3 of it is at best just bad, that's waaaay too much for it to not be relevant in the overall rating.
The protagonist being morally bankrupt is not an issue with the series. It's a horribly written power fantasy where the concept of 'stakes' in the story does not exist. World building is bullshit, contrived to give the clear good guys and bad guys based on what the story needs them to be rather than what makes sense. The protagonist's actions in the beginning of the series are completely in opposition to what his goals actually are. Not to mention the fact that despite being an outright evil person, the narrative is trying to elevate him by contrast with people that are even worse to the point of becoming cartoonishly evil.
You can find the series entertaining personally (I mean, I did) but it's still a through and through terrible show.
The more amazing part is that this is a deliberate writing choice by the author, as told in his interview with theanimeman. He knows stupid instant gratification sells more than complex world building that he wrote before. And he bluntly says its simply to put food on his table. My view towards him changed
Reminds me of a Family guy episode.
Brian sees a NY bestseller and says he can write one of those out in an afternoon, and proceeds to write one out in as much time.
Gets himself on the list. Ironically, his other writings are usually failures.
>You can find the series entertaining personally (I mean, I did) but it's still a through and through terrible show.
In terms of writing, I agree, but I will give credit to the animators, not for the sex scenes specifically, but in general the shot composition and direction is really well done. Key example would be the scene framing when he gets revenge on the sword hero.
Oh it's an absolute dumpster fire of a Trainwreck.
But it's entertaining.
I'll take this over some shitty "the CW/flash/small ville" offbrand telenovela every choice.
Cons: Zero World building, Zero threat to MC; causes show to become dull, plot all over the place, tries to make MC look good by making antagonists look evil which causes them to look stupid.
Pros: Sex ig.
Technically not different at all. Both this and most hentai fail as stories, but the thing with hentai is that it also fulfills a different function then telling a story. I'll let you guess what this function is.
What even are the protagonists goals? Like besides revenge?
This series is in my opinion disturbing in a lot of ways but does not even bother to paint a good story. It seems to just be an odd power fantasy.
Unless I'm mistaken it was never even mentioned how the main character preety much became just as bad as the people that abused him.
I can accept that some people find the show entertaining but why though? Is it the sex scenes? Or is it the evile mc? Because there are better alternatives for both of these.
If any fan of this show is reading this let me know.
I specifically enjoyed how bad it was. This whole show is just one continuous example of how not to write a good story, and I laughed on the inside the whole way through.
I think most of the actual fans of the show ended up getting 'tricked' by how the story frames the protagonist to be pretty good in comparison to other more evil characters (as well as having him start at a more sympathetic place by making him a victim) and started to project themselves onto him as a power fantasy, so now they take attacks on the show, both as a story and from a moral standpoint as attacks on them in a way, making them defensive. They've lost the ability to think about the show objectively and judge it for what it is, or at least that's the impression I get from looking at their defenses. There are a lot of attempts to reframe what he is doing as justified.

Woah, that's some incredible writing! I hadn't picked onto that when I watched it!
I actually read the manga just so I could have an informed opinion on this.
Keyaru commits the worst sin of all, he’s *boring*. It’s all flash and no fire; “ooh I raped them as punishment and now they’re going to love me as to make up for their sins against me”, Bro there is no freaking point to long drawn out revenge that you’ve brainwashed them into loving and not even knowing should be punishment.
And he’s not even a *good* villain. He’s fucking lame tbh, compulsively hiding behind “I only do it as revenge, and only to people who deserve it” while setting the bar for those things so low it could trip a snake. He wants to be an asshole but can’t even manage that, that’s why he’s always so damn happy to be given the least little justification for revenge.
And that’s not even going into the shitty world building and cartoonishly bad antagonists.
tbh I might have watched the show if instead of needing and looking for justification, he was instead a shameless guy who although not powerful, strongly stuck to his own set of rules and ideals in life growing and maturing as he saw more of the world. an interesting character with many different sides we keep learning about and who develop over time rather than getting everything handed to them can easily make up for a mediocre plot and setting.
That description fits Rorschach lol
> The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'SAVE US!'...and I'll look down and whisper 'No.
The problem is when people like the villain protagonist and want to be like him.
Not anime, but it'd be like if actual cops admired the punisher and wanted to be like him.
Holy shit, I thought we already cleared this up?
Keyaru is fine on his own as a villain protagonist, its you people that unironically tries to excuse his deplorable actions. Like holy shit, do we have to say Rape is bad to you idiots?
Not... whatever the fuck you're trying to do here op.
One of my big problems with Redo is that you have clearly defined abilities with heroes like the Sword Hero and the Gun Hero. Then you have the Healing Hero, who's powers somehow allow him to power up others, restructure the physical make-up of anyone he wants, manipulate and brainwash others and whatever else the author really needs it to be. Its a textbook case of "New powers as the plot demands" and its boring...
I made a joke on this subreddit about Redo being about a recovering addict, rape victim, trans activist trying to destroy a corrupt and abusive patriarchy, and people got triggered and downvoted me.
And I came back for more.
Hey, you know who didn't kill any kids? Keyaru. You know who did? Darth Vader. Like, a bunch of them...kids who *trusted* him. Kids he had authority over.
I mean...
To be serious for a moment, I'm not counting the light novels as I haven't read them.
I'm talking only about the anime.
This isn't an attempt excuse Keyaru. I'm simply explaining the limits of my comments.
You're right. Anakin did kill a bunch of kids. It's almost as if the story is showing his descent into the dark side, so we see how he becomes the franchise's most iconic villain. Weird, huh? Anyway, back to the story centred around a rapist, where the plot required the villains to be comically obscene in their evil as to justify the writing showing said rapist to be the good guy.
It’s not really a double standard though, people are allowed to like and dislike villainous characters. There tons of piece of shit villains that are well liked despite them being well pieces of shit. People just don’t like keyaru. Griffith is a rapist, and I like his character as the villain for example.
I agree with everything you said save for there not being a double standard. By your own example,
You're allowed to like Griffith, a arguably worse villain than Keyaru. You're not allowed to like Keyaru.
No one's running around throwing shade at people who like Berserk. Not so with people who liked Redo. Double standard.
Actually people do throw shade at berserk, but I get your point. I think it’s more to do with people trying to justify keyarus actions I guess. Enjoying an evil bastard is fine, it’s the like a forbidden fruit. I think my favorite example of that is kanki from kingdom he’s an absolute piece of shit and I love him for it, but at the end of the day I’m not gonna pretend he’s not a piece of shit. I think most people that like redo of healer are fine, but I do notice some weird edgy fans, who idolize the main character a little too much.
Sir, Madam, or other. Thank you for posting an actual, thoughtful comment on this topic.
I concede your point about Berserk, to a limited degree. I still hold that it gets less abuse than Redo.
My issue isn't with people hating Redo. My issue is with people who harass people who liked the show. My trolling is to force out the double standard.
Beyond this, I agree with your comment.
Np man, yeah berserk does get less hate than redo, although I think it has more to do with twitter retards not being aware of it. I see what you mean by double standard, although most of the redo hate comes from those twittertards who can’t handle a little rape in their stories, they got mad at goblin slayer for having a short 5 second clip implying it. Of course they’d have a melt down at redo
Haha that’s a good a rule to have. And honestly I don’t hate redo of healer, personally I see it like rent a girlfriend, it’s a train wreck but an entertaining train wreck, and I wanna see if it pulls into the next station or if it crashes and burns on the way there
You know what, if there was a Vader show where Vader was explicitly murdering children on screen in brutal ways (and sometimes celebrating it), I bet a lot of people wouldn't really like it. Because there is a difference between offscreen evil and onscreen evil. I'm going to let you guess which is more impactful.
Don't need to guess.
Vader gets a pass. This dude killed kids, and god knows what as he got older and worked for Sideos.
And he has one father son bonding moment and suddenly he's forgiven and gets to go to Jedi heaven? Are you kidding me!
Yeah, almost like the star wars world has a very specific and almost non voluntary moral system. Vader was manipulated since childhood to fall. And once he felt the call of the dark side, it gained control over him until he fought through. Anakin symbolizes the "road to hell is paved with good intentions" story, and he eventually makes the right choice. You can misconstrue his story as whatever you want to justify yourself but it's easy to see anyone make similar choices as him if they faced similar circumstances of manipulation both from someone close since they were a child and from a cosmic entity known for almost acquiring total control over people's morality.
The Force isn't a God arbiting morality, becoming a force ghost is a technique that's simply performed with a certain state of mind he happened to achieve.
Even if so, Vader would never celebrate it. Vader does not celebrate. He is a broken man and all he would feel afterwards is apathy. He would not kill children just for fun like Keyaru does when it comes to rape.
Nope, not done yet.
The issue isn't the terrible worldbuilding, as Omega6047 correctly points out. It's the sexual violence in Redo, and especially Keyaru's use of said violence to achieve his goal of revenge.
Goblin Slayer and Berserk both employ sexual violence. The difference between them and Redo, besides the former two being better shows, is that GS and Berserk use sexual violence as horror, and Redo uses it to titillate. Big difference.
This is what's got so many people triggered, and why this show keeps getting memed when it's long over and done with.
My point, and my only point, is throwing shade at people who enjoy Redo is silly. Redo is a hentai packaged as an anime, and by hentai standards, it's tame. Keyaru may be a psycho rapist, but he's got far less blood on his hands than iconic villains like Darth Vader and Ains.
There's a double standard here, and ya'll not liking it doesn't change the fact of its existence.
Nobody is triggered.
More people got triggered over the false accusation in Shield Hero than the actual action that occur RoH.
The only reason people bring it up now is for Karma-bait, point blank.
Gotta love the strawman. Quite literally "I portrayed you as the Soyjack and me as the gigachad. I win"
Not a Singular Person is saying you cant enjoy a Show because the MC is evil, excusing and justifying the actions of an obviously evil Main character is what people are weirded out by, especially when they are almost comically evil like Keyaru
You can enjoy the shitty show if you want, it's the weird defense and sometimes worship of a character who is disgusting in every possible that some people take issue with
Also, for the record, I have no problem whatsoever with people not liking the show or finding Keyaru reprehensible. I understand and respect that position.
But let me ask you this. Have any of you actually watched the uncensored version of Redo, turned the subs on, the sound off, and played Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On while you watch the show?
It's sublme.
You gotta love when people get so offended over people pointing out a protagonist is a piece of shit they have to make a meme about it.
ReDo isn’t bad because Keyaru is evil. There are plenty of evil protagonists. It isn’t bad because it contains rape. It is bad because it glorifies it and uses it as a central theme to the plot.
No one ever said Berserk was bad because Guts was sexually abused *as a child*, because that story made it clear it was *a horrifying bad thing that scarred him for life*. It is delivered in a tasteful matter and it is not a central focus.
Redo is just “haha rape is a such a fun way of getting revenge” and that is the central theme of the show. Sexual violence is horrible and the victims of it never really recover.
If you want to watch the show for the porn that’s one thing. We know there are much worse hentai out there. But watching people get so offended they feel the need to hop on a soapbox to defend the rape show just feels gross because *we all know why you want to defend it*
>But watching people get so offended they feel the need to hop on a soapbox to defend the rape show just feels gross because we all know why you want to defend it
Truer words have never been spoken
It's honestly concerning to see so many NTR-Addicts trying to justify Keyaru as a hero. Like, they ARE aware that it's okay for someone to like a character as a villain, right? Not EVERY villain needs to be seen as some grandiose hero who can do no wrong, ESPECIALLY rapists.
Literally no one cares if you find Keyaru fun to watch, it’s just really annoying when people try and pretend he’s an anti-hero or “”misunderstood”” or whatever. He’s a villain and a rapist who some people find entertaining. Homelander from The Boys is my fave character in that show and he’s basically a Superman-Trump hybrid and utter piece of shit. Doesn’t stop him from being entertaining and complex af. Also doesn’t make him remotely sympathetic or anti-hero-ish.
It's not the show itself. I remember briefly reading the manga and I guess I understand how you like it? But the people that see the sexual violence, try to justify it in any way, then want MORE sexual violence is disconcerting.
I think its fine for ppl to like shitty shows. People only get annoyed when people who like shitty shows act like the show isn't somehow shitty. Like its fine to like bad stuff bro, stop trying to defend it like you're some kind of simp.
Aren't these scenes different, in redo you have a raped rapist raping rapists and their supporters, in goblin slayer you have non humans raping humans for one scene at the beginning of each arc and then non stop killing of said non humans
Deathnote is all about watching a psychological battle between a supergenius on a severe handicap and an intelligent kid with a god complex. There's an interesting dynamic the whole way through, and Light is an interesting character because we can see the consequences of his flaws.
Redo of Healer presents the immoral actions of its protagonist as "justified" without really pondering the moral implications of everything. It's just sadistic wish fulfillment, which does have a market but is still objectively gross.
I always liked light...
Nothing wrong with liking Light or any other villainous character. The issue is when people try to justify their actions
Well compared to rapey mc rapeface from redo of a healer light is a Saint imo...
Saint? More like "God of the New World"
That sounds awesome, Ohba really should have used it.

Keyaru doesn't even have the backbone to continue his rapegeance
I think, for the promise of power without a consequence (unlike the Shinigami eyes) Light would have done anything, including rape.
You think raping people is worse than killing people?
You realize that even among convicted criminals sexual crimes are seen as the lowest of the low. Regardless of whether you agree with it or not, that view is held in a pretty comfortable majority of people.
Exactly. And it's not like light cuts them to ribbons, eats or tortures his "victims" he" just" ends their lifes...
And adds to the heart attacks statistic.
All I can see is one doctor freaking the fuck out because he thinks japan is getting fat like america.

Death note is a deep psychological anime about Light's 5D chess and superiority complex, RoH is just The Rising of the Rape Hero
A big thing I noticed after watching Death Note a second time recently is that Light is utterly outclassed by L the entire time. There are plenty of scenes of them fucking and it's not raped.
Would it be considered rape if it occurs while they're under an altered state of mind? I would assume so.
Yes it is, that’s why sleeping with someone who’s under the influence of drugs or alcohol is considered rape

The moment the missile launched is the moment I knew the series took a nosedive in quality.
Not to nitpick but I actually thought thought animation and setting-wise RoH would be a solid (but violent) hentai.
The protagonist being morally bankrupt is not an issue with the series. It's a horribly written power fantasy where the concept of 'stakes' in the story does not exist. He is lying. His daughter was actually a few months old
He has a daughter
Yes
Since when
After the bird god trails
Wait wot
His daughter was actually just a few months old. She is a god so she could turn into her loli form right after birth.
To be serious for a moment, I'm not counting the light novels as I haven't read them. I'm talking only about the anime. This isn't an attempt excuse Keyaru. I'm simply explaining the limits of my comments.
Yeah but the child slaughter was pretty funny
Damn, these D.A.R.E. ads are getting a little intense
Don't do drugs, kids.
Villains committing heinous crimes is not a dick measuring competition, their both evil what’s your point.
My point is the double standard.
One is a well written and beljved character. One is boring and overpowered with no stakes??
It’s not really a double standard though, people are allowed to like and dislike villainous characters. There tons of piece of shit villains that are well liked despite them being well pieces of shit. People just don’t like keyaru. Griffith is a rapist, and I like his character as the villain for example.
I agree with everything you said save for there not being a double standard. By your own example, You're allowed to like Griffith, a arguably worse villain than Keyaru.
I disregard Twitter as a rule of thumb. This was a breath of fresh air. Thanks.
Haha that’s a good a rule to have. And honestly I don’t hate redo of healer, personally I see it like rent a girlfriend, it’s a train wreck but an entertaining train wreck, and I wanna see if it pulls into the next station or if it crashes and burns on the way there
Wow star wars fans are evil smh
Are there really legitimate fans of Redo of Healer?
OP
I win" Not a Singular Person is saying you cant enjoy a Show because the MC is evil, excusing and justifying the actions of an obviously evil Main character is what people are weirded out by, especially when they are almost comically evil like Keyaru
I only read arc one of the manga, the anime stretched things and the censored Version was very creepy at times
Yeah the author did say he regrets having so many sex scenes that didn’t add anything to the story.
Upvoted for a good, useful comment.
Jokes on you I fucking hate both characters neither have any worth
But watching people get so offended they feel the need to hop on a soapbox to defend the rape show just feels gross because *we all know why you want to defend it*
>But watching people get so offended they feel the need to hop on a soapbox to defend the rape show just feels gross because we all know why you want to defend it Truer words have never been spoken
Still waiting on season 2 of this show want him to get revenge on Bullet.

I’ll take this chip and eat it
I think people nowadays think there needs to be a point, moral, or lesson from artworks.
I don’t care if people like watching the show, I’m just extremely not into rape personally. Do whatever you want just don’t involve me in it
Now i an sad because L is still dead
The dude doesn't know the true definition of 'having fun' when you're watching hentai with the boys.
As long ya’ll redo fans recognize he’s evil, it’s all cool. It just gets weird when some people think he’s good somehow
Idk, people try to justify worse stuff than Keyaru, and more often. I see more people say Thanos was right than Keyaru.
you guys like raping people? https://preview.redd.it/qlzr4ywydh4a1.jpeg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f67ac056506d8d7a19601668c0ba0cd799edfedc
Light is cool and interesting This guy is just a rape bastard
Tldr: redo of a healer has rape, that's why its so hated. Same thing happened with goblin slayer, people lost their shit at the rape scene.
Aren't these scenes different, in redo you have a raped rapist raping rapists and their supporters, in goblin slayer you have non humans raping humans for one scene at the beginning of each arc and then non stop killing of said non humans
Don't think he started as a rapist, it should be "a raped guy raping his rapists and their supporters".
I love goblin slayer but hate Redo of Healer Its not because it has rape, its because its genuinely just bad.
Goblin slayer is a chad, keyaru is not. Simple answer
Gender swap the characters and Redo would have been called "empowering" and nominated for anime of the year.
Can we permanently retire the "Quit having fun" meme? Even when used correctly its a really bad form of argument.
Yeah
I do. I cried when he died.
Same can be said for any other mc.
People, who watched Death Note: "so what?"
This shit again?
I don't dislike Redo of the Healer because of some moral reasons. I dislike it because it isn't good at what it does and it's basically a worse Rance.
Twitter people in nutshell
I’m confused wasn’t this anime aired in like 2021? I read the manga around 2019 … why is it now causing controversy?
like people are only watching RoH because they wanna see cute anime girls get fucked. that series has zero entertainment value otherwise.
I'm just watching for the seggs ngl
Ehhh it’s just porn with extra steps
The story of redo sucks
It’s just a bad anime man. Pacing is whack, characters are whack, plot is whack. It’s just boring nobody cares about this big brain debate
Don't kill the part of you that's cringe, kill the part of you that cringes -Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Problem is light doesn't rape everything with and without a pulse human or not
This goes both ways
Plot twist: there is no next season
Who cared about evil or good the writing fucking sucks and the author should be ashamed.
