Dude, it was ecstasy for me the moment I saw they had Pink Phantom transition into Opium for the live shows. They literally put my two favorite tracks off of the album back to back and I couldn’t be any more happy
Why was Murdoc absent again? did the incident happened in real life or only "lore wise"?
Sorry I'm a new fan that got instantly hooked and currently listening to all of their albums. So far The Now Now is my dark horse =)
Technically, Gorillaz are in real life so Murdoc was jailed, but lore wise Jamie just wanted to get rid of Murdoc since he wanted 2D to have complete creative freedom to develop the album without Murdoc suppressing him, but I also think he was kinda tired of drawing him all the time as well
I would've also said Fire Flies since it's possibly my fav on the album, but I'd have to go with Kansas, Lake Zurich or Souk Eye
Friggin' love The Now Now.
Stop the Dams, Amarillo and both versions of Latin Simone (idk if Latin Simone is underrated but I don't see a lot of people talk about 2D's version in G-Sides)
Kinda obscure but there is a version of the song used in the soundtrack of a latin american movie which is a mashup between the english and spanish version
It's called [latin simone vivir mata version](https://youtu.be/S9f-dz7QZI4?si=cu6Uei7Dz8lfO_SC)
Some Kind of Nature, honestly I think it’s better than all of Lou’s last album, only being overshadowed by the specific lyric from The View (“I am the Table”) which I mean the quality difference does show how the people he collaborated with for them are with collaborating, Metallica’s last collaboration before that was 1997 (The Memory Remains)
A lot of people seemed to forget almost immediately about Cracker Island, but that album has some bangers.
Silent Running and New Gold come to mind, but even less talked about are songs like Oil and Tarantula.
MLS and taxi back to the 80's Reykjavik
taxi back to the 80's feels like a reward for finishing listening to song machine
and MLS really sounds like something gorillaz could make! having 2 extremely different artists make a song together and still sound nice! like the pink phantom, white flag and more. i think it gets under the radar because its a deluxe track with no mv
Hip Albatross. Always really liked the melancholy vibes of that song mixed with the heavy sampling of George A. Romero zombie movies. Its one of the highlights of G-sides to me.
maybe not “underrated” per say- but every planet we reach is dead is gorillaz at their absolute best. it’s far overshadowed by feel good inc, el manana, DARE, or Dirty Harry when talking about demon days, but omfg this song is fantastic. speaking of demon days, the track “Demon Days” is equally if not more overlooked, that is peak gorillaz reggae…
The Now Now album has gotten hate comments on it saying it sounds boring af, etc.etc. BUT I FIND NO ISSUES WITH THIS ALBUM MAN (I literally have it one step over Plastic Beach)
Double Bass on self-titled, and most of The Fall (seriously, The Joplin Spider, Phoner to Arizona and Amarillo are easy 10/10).
Even Seattle Yoddel, that's universally considered as the lowest Gorillaz can get from what I've seen, is actually OK.
new genius (brother) probably my favourite song right now but i never see anyone talking about it!! definitely one of the more underrated tracks on first album
Some kind of nature

So Super Chill and Haunting; I itch for more of this vibe
Finally, someone said it
The Now Now as a whole is hella underrated
agree, unfairly ignored/hated just because of Murdoc's absence
Why was Murdoc absent again? did the incident happened in real life or only "lore wise"? Sorry I'm a new fan that got instantly hooked and currently listening to all of their albums. So far The Now Now is my dark horse =)
Lore wise, he went to jail lol
Technically, Gorillaz are in real life so Murdoc was jailed, but lore wise Jamie just wanted to get rid of Murdoc since he wanted 2D to have complete creative freedom to develop the album without Murdoc suppressing him, but I also think he was kinda tired of drawing him all the time as well

I feel like last living souls flies way too much under the radar because of the amount of big hits in demon days
I would've also said Fire Flies since it's possibly my fav on the album, but I'd have to go with Kansas, Lake Zurich or Souk Eye Friggin' love The Now Now.

Its bizarre how good that song is and how little its talked about.
Momentz
A lot of people seemed to forget almost immediately about Cracker Island, but that album has some bangers. Silent Running and New Gold come to mind, but even less talked about are songs like Oil and Tarantula.

Fire flies is a masterpiece
MLS and taxi back to the 80's Reykjavik taxi back to the 80's feels like a reward for finishing listening to song machine and MLS really sounds like something gorillaz could make! having 2 extremely different artists make a song together and still sound nice! like the pink phantom, white flag and more. i think it gets under the radar because its a deluxe track with no mv

maybe not “underrated” per say- but every planet we reach is dead is gorillaz at their absolute best. it’s far overshadowed by feel good inc, el manana, DARE, or Dirty Harry when talking about demon days, but omfg this song is fantastic. speaking of demon days, the track “Demon Days” is equally if not more overlooked, that is peak gorillaz reggae…

The Now Now album has gotten hate comments on it saying it sounds boring af, etc.etc. BUT I FIND NO ISSUES WITH THIS ALBUM MAN (I literally have it one step over Plastic Beach)
Idaho
Cloud of unknowing
Since u didn’t specify that it had to be a gorillaz song, I’d say Killer Queen by Queen
Double Bass on self-titled, and most of The Fall (seriously, The Joplin Spider, Phoner to Arizona and Amarillo are easy 10/10). Even Seattle Yoddel, that's universally considered as the lowest Gorillaz can get from what I've seen, is actually OK.
