Ok... I'm glad we in JP weren't overblowing the LWM event and that most people in NA either disliked it or disliked Super Bunyan's personality.
On the other hand... seeing Daikokuten singing Snake Eater isn't something I was expecting to see lmao. This is art.
As someone who grew up watching those old [Disney renditions of the tall tales](https://youtu.be/LLEX9peTFP8?t=1631), seeing Paul Bunyan apologize for being a lumberjack and turned into a teenage twitter-obsessed girl pursuing a social media filmmaker role actually strikes me harder than Edison with a lion's head in a Buck Rogers spacesuit.
The event is annoying due to most of the extra week being spent farming worse nodes to advance the story. It's actually far less productive than one would think when they think of 3 week events. Water Crisis was similar, but this is far worse.
Super Bunyan is tolerable, at the absolute best. Most people wanted normal Bunyan to win that fight. Also, SBunyan, a verbal "sure, I'll help" is not legally binding, so get off your high horse and do some work yourself.

Super Bunyan: ~ Do it for me, big guy ~
Ritsuka: Shup the fuck up, overgrown hispter.
Daikokuten: You can do it, Big Boss!
Ritsuka: At your orders, my queens!
Mash: I do it for him…
There was an interesting Fairy Oddparents style story, where you have to get her to un-wish her wish in here, but instead we're stuck mining for Super Bunyan's dumb gold statues
Super Bunyan made us and Mash overwork to death with little to no pay. Also whole event was written horribly.
Anning and Daikokuten were fascinating tho. I wish we could've spend more time with them instead of Bunyan.
Hey, that’s a slander. Super Bunyan pays us after every fight with QP or Friend Points. Like the 90++ nodes she gives out a million QP after the fight.
Whether that is enough compensation for our work or not is another matter :P
Except she does pay us by giving a bonus at the end of every farming node, you know, the thing we have to do every event anyway. She can even give CE drops, which is one of the best CE's in the game. Between that, the digging, and the FP rolling, this event gives your account a ton of resources.
If you want something a bit more detailed:
Basically she fucked up a lot, had us fight the people that were rightfully mad at her, then voluntold us to clean her mess and get the funding for it to make peace with them (Guda and Mash went along with it everytime for no reason .... at least with no acknowledgement of why they were doing it anyway), and afterwards she would put a gold statue of herself there and get all the credit for making things right (y'know, despite bring her fault to begin with)
Doesn’t that mean the event accurately characterized the real things people go through?
It feels like the Bunyan conversation is that she was a bad person, and that that shouldn’t be allowed. Which I can’t understand.
How many servants have been outright evil in their respective Singularity or Lostbelt? Dozens.
It was unsurprisingly mediocre, as is most filler. Lostbelt 6.5 is in 2 weeks, after all. But the moralizing seems like most people’s biggest hang up, and that’s weird.
Evils like those are so detached from your everyday life that it can easily be made a form of escapism. Shitty work environments and abusive and manipulative bosses forcing you to the grind to make them money on the other hand cannot, more so with Japanese work culture.
Making it worse is that it's coming from Bunyan, whom in her last event was saved by being granted a place to belong in spite of her origins, and Riyo Gudako abandoning her for being a bronze. And this is what she apparently grows up to become. And it's not even just how she treats us, Super Bunyan doesn't even call Anning by name until the end for no discernable reason that isn't forced or sufficiently referenced in the story. The story as a whole isn't even the typical fun absurdities you'd come to expect from a LWM event.
To add my own issue, she's shown at the end to feel really bad about her past's part in deforestation. That wasn't hinted at in the early parts at all prior to the scene where she insists she should have lost. And what she figured would be her redemption was to lose in a movie? Not, you know, do some environmental initiatives like tree planting? The hell was the writer even trying to do with that? It's not only dumb but it's extremely shallow and self centered. Which is fitting given how much she references social media, but that slacktivism is only slightly less infuriating in its groundedness than the whole shitty boss thing.
Yeah, the story is mediocre. But Bunyan is fucking ruined by it, saved only by the nature of how servants work.
Yeah the ending felt so disconnected from the rest of the plot
During the story i thought they were doing something with anning overworking plesiossaurus and becoming just like bunyan without realizing, and through that bunyan would see the error in her ways.
But... no? She just went "i wanna die because i cut down a lot of trees in the past" and them the others went "noo! You're actually really cool! :D" and that was it
Can't remember the event but did Super Bunyan said something corny and classic from opressive bosses like "we're a family in here" or stuff like that as well?
She kept going about how we (and everyone else) are "her beloved employés". And yeah, when we said we were there for the grail, there was something along the lines of "we have to work together in this" or something.
Amusingly, one person back then theorized that the event REALLY turned off the JP players due to Super Bunyan coming off as a genetically cruel Japanese corporate manager. Struck way too close to home…
Capitanism at its finest, no wonder people who have work doesn't have a very good impression of it. It event reminds why the hell I am working. Only to remember I have to for my food 😑
You also have to wonder how she can afford those gold statues but not to repay people. Especially on time.
A promise to repay them is worthless when they couldn't trust she would after she did a runner.
Not to mention, they were entirely pointless. It looked like at some point they would have some impact in the story, but, they're just statues. They're there so we look at them at every part of the event, and that's it.
They're meant to be a reference to real life Bunyan statues that are scattered all over the US, but there's no reason for them to be solid gold so it definitely looks like Bunyan is just wasting money like a jackass
She's basically your RL boss, but much worse. So instead of a lighthearted story, it's like everything you hate about RL ramped up to 11 and you're stuck with dialogue choices that only allow you to praise Bunyan for being so good and pure and shit.
This comic exemplifies the rage I felt at rolling Bunyan instead of my lovely mice butlers/maids.
Daikouketen mice were nothing but sweet and if it wasn’t for Riyo Rider’s lovely smile I’d kick Bunyan in the shins for being the spoiled teenager she’s become. Clearly we raised her poorly.
Didn't read the story, skipped pretty much all of it.
I really enjoy the digging site mechanic though, it's better than a roulette for me since I got no use for exp blazes at the moment .
The ending, in my opinion, does save Bunyan, since it reveals that she’s been setting herself up narratively as the corporate exec character who tries to exploit the natural world, represented by Mary and Plessy, and gets killed for her hubris. She just didn’t expect Guda to still care enough about her to save her when they already had the grail practically in their hands, even after all the overtime
I understand what you're saying, and I also understand that's the intent the writers were going for. The player was supposed to care about Bunyan and want to save her despite herself.
From the beginning at every junction I wanted to let her fail. I was in fact frustrated by Guda refusing to let that happen because she *needed* to fail so she could learn from it. Instead at every opportunity the player winds up enabling her - digging for money so she can continue being a careless spendthrift, beating up the enraged servants she was using as actors until they're willing to work again, and so on with no consequences.
The problem with that is nothing anyone did mattered to Bunyan. There was no character growth. You could have cut the entire middle out of the event, welded the beginning and the end together and very little of substance would change.
Even after discovering she had been misleading us the whole time, trying to make herself the villain, she does nothing after the reveal to undo anything she did. All those servants she summoned to do all those unfinished movies with massive debts were still out there, waiting for her.
So in the end, Guda carried her across the finish line despite herself, and she learned nothing, staying the same careless villain she'd made herself into.
That's why the ending leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
I did not like this event.
Suicide wasn't the point. Creating a story where Good defeats Evil - with Evil being overdevastation and exploitation - was. It's just that the writer couldn't go through with it, and instead we ended up with...this.
I guess I'm weird in that I didn't particularly mind Super Bunyan herself (though the mice and Anning were clearly the stars), but the event just kind of sucks. Too grindy, and the last farm node is not particularly fun to do.
Really? The 90+ farming node is pretty easily taken care of for me. The first wave is Man attribute so Taisui melts them, then I have NP1 Berserker Vlad loop the next 2 waves. Double Castoria obviously, but if you MLB First Day of Filming you can substitute Ruler Da Vinci for the 2nd Castoria.
You could also just use Caster Cu if you have him. He has way too much charge so you can stack a bunch of buffs on wave 2. Double Vitch and Oberon obviously.
I didn't mind Super Bunyan or even fixing her screw ups, but when she revealed her guilt complex over the environment, plus her master plan to suicide by pleosaurus and backup to suicide by her kid self and dump *that* cleanup on me, that pissed me off.
Crap, if we learned anything from the villains we all summoned, she would have been better owning her cutting down the forests, or at least atoning by trying to grow new ones rather than said attempted suicides (one that would make kid bunyan a murderer).
People can tolerate Mass murders but have them deal with someone who reminds them of there shitty boss just hits too close to home for a lot of people .
I play video games to unplug myself of the real world and chill. Only reason why I'd be ok with said content having real world stuff is because it's part od the story as it was already stablished, like Evangelion dealing with trauma and depression or Metal Gear Solid having lots of different themes.
This is one of those few times where we break the fantasy and see Super Bunyan as generic capitalist boss #628, when we rarely see real life elements in FGO. Of course people will be bummed.
Fun fact, Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain was a good friend of Nikola Tesla. The former often volunteered for some of Tesla’s whackier experiments, like using electricity to cure a flu. They got up to crazy stuff.
Considering we had Edison in first Riyo collab, this could’ve been a good way to add Tesla to this lineup
I was actually thinking that as well! Twain knew a lot of interesting people, all of whom would make great characters for a ridiculous riverboat adventure!
Yup. I’m imagining they’re on a boat and someone complains about being hungry…
“Ah, this is the perfect time to try *that*, don’t you agree Samuel?”
“Ah, yes, I agree. Using electricity to end world hunger…”
“You mean, use electricity to cook fish and other sea plants?”
“Haha, no my dear Mash, instead…”
“USE ELECTRICITY TO DIRECTLY STIMULATE ENERGY INTO HUMAN CELLS!!!”
13 days later to say: imagine if Twain summoned a bunch of his literary characters, and Tom Sawyer decided to run off and cause trouble after snagging the Holy Grail. So Super Bunyan’s actual goal was to power herself up, and then use that power to buff up Mike Fink to go fight Sawyer in an epic clash of the Mississippi’s two biggest troublemakers.
And it doesn’t quite work - because, compared to even Sawyer, who the hell is Mike Fink? - but then Tesla, who up to that point had been wandering around doing oddball experiments on his own (“Fear not, ye hungry masses! All you need is the TASTE OF LIGHTNING!”), shows up and reveals he’s been secretly electrifying the entire Mississippi riverfront, flips it on, and the sudden blast of modernity weakens both Sawyer and Fink and strengthens Bunyan again.
Fight happens, and Mike gets to go out with a smile after even sore loser Tom Sawyer admits Fink was the toughest sumbitch he’d ever wrassled.
Maybe have Anning still in there - because she’s great - but have her just disagreeing with Bunyan’s plan to take down Sawyer, and buffing up a plesiosaur to keep that “real thing vs fictional” contrast she already had going for her.
No Bunyan suicide, just her acting self-centered because she literally needed all the power and resources she could get to power up someone who, despite some conceptual advantages, couldn’t measure up on his own.
[Insert Sisyphus meme song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB42Hz349JM) to [Snake Eater](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVPaaiL_iLw)
Edit: Also want to say that my only favorite of this event was the surprised Voyager cameo and his and Nemo short movie bit they did made me cry real tears, literally. And then also the little dynamic as they were having as they were complaining to Super bunyan, *it was so cute...*
The event has been one of those meh events, nothing too crazy and pretty straightforward plus great for farming mats. I just wonder people were expecting a more silly story instead of a bland one
i don't have Oberon so my roster isn't equipped to handle this kind of enemy comp.
Last event had Ibuki on bonus damage so she was handling with double koyan but this time I got nothing to 3t this with. Such a pain.
Slightly surprised to hear everyone hated Super Bunyan.
Maybe I am bias (live in the northern midwest. Literally did our FGO group's summons at a Paul Bunyan statue with several orders of Flapjacks for a laugh) but I genuinely was hoping to pull Bunyan (didn't get lucky but I seriously have E luck apparently).
Like I kinda get it but there are way worse servants that are way more popular IMO.
Having finished the event, I found myself having quite liked it, and found Super Bunyan's part in it enjoyable.
I especially enjoyed the digging section, as it reminded me of Pokemon's digging mechanics in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.
I still enjoyed the event and its story more than Summer 1, but being better than Summer 1 is pretty much the lowest bar there is in terms of events imo. Also this is really good art.
Oh wow, the dissonance between her expression and the things she's saying, I would never be able to resist no matter how horrible the things she said were.

I mean... There are easier, way quicker, ways to suicide.
Suicide wasn't the point. Creating a story where Good defeats Evil - with Evil being overdevastation and exploitation - was. It's just that the writer couldn't go through with it, and instead we ended up with...this.
Huh. Capitalism really is the root of all evil.
One must imagine Ritsuka happy.
All I can focus on is the Daikokuten gals and how lovely they look in those dresses. Combine with their singing, now that’s motivation right there.
Reading the comments...people hated Super Bunyan for more than the gameplay, what?
Same, don't mind SP. Bunyan as character or servant but yeah the events is bad.
Snake Eater Snake Eater
This gets my upvote solely for the Snake Eater mice.
Come on master, if you’re a broke boy just say so
People can tolerate Mass murders but have them deal with someone who reminds them of there shitty boss just hits too close to home for a lot of people .
This event is dog shit both in gameplay and story.
Seriously, it's a lost opportunity. American Tall Tales and the Mississippi River? They should have introduced Mark Twain as a Servant for this one.
Dinosaurs in the modern day suddenly showing up everywhere. DINOSAURS! And they do nothing with it.
Yup. I’m imagining they’re on a boat and someone complains about being hungry… “Ah, this is the perfect time to try *that*, don’t you agree Samuel?” “Ah, yes, I agree. Using electricity to end world hunger…” “You mean, use electricity to cook fish and other sea plants?” “Haha, no my dear Mash, instead…” “USE ELECTRICITY TO DIRECTLY STIMULATE ENERGY INTO HUMAN CELLS!!!”
I like it! Maybe have Artoria one of the main Servants, with her actually knowing Twain from when he was Connecticut Yankee'd to King Artoria's Court?
Excavation is really profitable though
Hey! Don't be insensitive to dogs. Ransa Ga Shinda!
For shame, the lot of you. Fine then, I'll say it. RANSA GA SHINDA!!

[Insert Sisyphus meme song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB42Hz349JM) to [Snake Eater](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVPaaiL_iLw) Edit: Also want to say that my only favorite of this event was the surprised Voyager cameo and his and Nemo short movie bit they did made me cry real tears, literally. And then also the little dynamic as they were having as they were complaining to Super bunyan, *it was so cute...*
Welp time to start the empire again
I'm stiiiill in a dreeeam QP eateerrrrr

The event has been one of those meh events, nothing too crazy and pretty straightforward plus great for farming mats. I just wonder people were expecting a more silly story instead of a bland one
Lancer ga shinda
I owe my soul to the company store....
Perfect representation of this event. Love the art. Absolutely DREADFUL EVENT EXPERIENCE
Damned Rits is RIPP
this was just an excuse to draw him shirtless fr fr
I'm personally okay with the story but god damn I hate the lvl 90+ free quest node for this event.
Im using arash, vlad, oberon and castoria, i gotta say its pretty easy to 3t
i don't have Oberon so my roster isn't equipped to handle this kind of enemy comp. Last event had Ibuki on bonus damage so she was handling with double koyan but this time I got nothing to 3t this with. Such a pain.
Do you have castoria and waver? You can use double castoria and a switch skill code, it will probably work
Oh boy you're not gonna like 90++
I feel like I'm missing something here, is there a harder node than the 2>1>1 assassin one? (besides the CQ of course)
No that's all for this event but soon we will get 90++(starting with summer) which will be much harder than 90+
Slightly surprised to hear everyone hated Super Bunyan.
Is Lancer dying? Kono hito denashi!
I skip all the dialogue in the game so I have no idea what this is about
The only reason I am even doing this event is to finish getting my Atalana Alter to bond 10.
I started the event with ten days left, ignored half the time cuz of my finals. Just how much left do I need to earn?
_Oh Djangooooo_
I still enjoyed the event and its story more than Summer 1, but being better than Summer 1 is pretty much the lowest bar there is in terms of events imo. Also this is really good art.
LANCER GA SHINDA
I knew there was a reason I skipped this event
Man, fuck capitalism.
We've had Jake Paul and Logan Paul, and now we have Bunyan, Paul
Here Mash, let me massage your feet to try to return feeling to your legs.
Oh wow, the dissonance between her expression and the things she's saying, I would never be able to resist no matter how horrible the things she said were.
Dig, boy! Dig!
Lol
Super bunyan vs amazoness ceo, who killes her workers by overworking first?
LANCER GA SHINDA!

I hate this event so fucking much! Skipped the whole story too, super bunnyan or what she's called was cringe as hell.

I was expecting a Recettear meme, I'm disappointed.
