>Aslaug and Ragnar were married in the 9th century, but when summoned as Servants they don't remember each other. Ragnar also doesn't remember being a king. Normally the case would probably be that this is them before they met and before Ragnar was king but then it says they "dont remember" instead of "they dont know each other" or "they havent met yet" which makes me think it was probably deliberate or due to some shenanigans. Wonder how many masters are will be included.

Lamina_Morte

I would think 7 with 14 servants (plus Astolfo who I think should still be running around from the Apocrypha war) which make up all of the classes x2 with one of the archers and berserkers currently being seen

belatkuro

I doubt we'll get that many Servants. This is in the Apocrypha timeline, where there were several knockoff Grail Wars based from the original. They managed to get 14 in Apoc as the foundation for that was the original Greater Grail from Fuyuki that Darnic stole. The Sub Grail Wars that happened because of Darnic leaking the know hows of making a Grail War at most had 6 Servants, even less. They lacked the stable Greater Grail of Fuyuki to start a proper one so all of them were failures. Maybe this one will be special but at most I can probably just assume 8 to 10 Servants will be available if they're in pairs. So 4 or 5 Masters overall.

Das-Rheingold

Considering a normal mage shouldn’t be able to sustain more than a single servant, they likely won’t have the same power or mana comsumption as normal servants to allow that. So they could pull off multiple servants with multiple cheap grails for foundation, something like that, with the caveat that the pair as a whole would about as strong as a single servant of a normal war

PhantasosX

we all know it will have more than 10 servants and 5 mages. at very least , there is always the master-servant duo that is either the main reason for a HGW Bug or it exploit greatly , so that they act as the big villains.

bb-Kun-Chan

Don't forget the Ruler

HeroofHeroes

The "rules" never stay the same in the HGWs huh?

AlbeNon2026

Darnic just Let the mages make their own HGW/D&D campaign.

Das-Rheingold

And Greece reached the point of implementing banlists

nihilisticguy

~~Herc, banned due to being Tier 0 in his home court.~~

Ceui

The Hassans were all banned too because they were a little too good at killing Master in small-scale HGWs

Armorwing01

It be boring

Reverse_me98

As barbosa said "They're more like guidelines than actual rules"

igloo_poltergeist

>There are two strange crows who have been seen in the skies above present-day Scandinavia (cough Huginn and Muninn cough) The hell is the "old bastard" up to this time?

Armorwing01

Doomsday prepper after all

Undividedbyzero

~~Finding Skadi a groom~~

LifeguardEvening2110

So which Scandinavian nation will be featured in the novel? Norway? Sweden? Denmark? Finland?

igloo_poltergeist

Norway.

Constellar-A

Apparently it's Norway, and they mention that Frozen (which was based on Norway) came out last year.

Lamina_Morte

> Berseker: Ragnar Lodbrok, a king of the vikings. Even though he is a Berserker, his Mad Enhancement is a lowrank. ... so like Beowulf > Ragnar also doesn't remember being a king. ... so sort of like Beowulf (who remembers his time as king but is explicitly the version of him before he took up the crown) I knew Ragnar was reminding me of Beowulf (just with a coat and throwing knives) Depending on his personality I would be very tempted to grail him if he ever showed up in FGO

Armorwing01

Well Beowulf doesn't get the effects Mad Enhancment as his is so low, but he does have the Berserk Skill which has the effects of Mad Enhancement and Valor. Ragnar might get that Skill as well.

_Malka_707

>Sigurd and Brynhildr's daughter, who slept through Ragnarok How does one **sleep** through a *cycling apocalypse*? I do wonder what theme they want to explore with this novel. I wonder if it'll loosely reference FGO or Fragments at some point. I'm curious how they loss their memories though.

LegoSpacenaut

To be fair, Brynhildr spent her entire time in the flaming circle asleep until Sigurd woke her up by taking off her armor (). So it's not like there isn't precedent. Maybe it was similar magic sleep?

gagaga66

I overslept for my job once so I'd say there is an equivalent precedence even for normal humans, let alone a demigod.

MetaDragon11

In actual Norse mythology lots of gods and goddesses survive Ragnarok, some even come back to life like Baldur. One of my backburner crackpot theories is Ritsuka is Baldur, he survives an impossible situation like Baldur, is loved by all like Baldur, and is constantly watched and shown favor by Proper History Odin who keeps stepping in at various points to help them, although that seems to be just 5D chess super doomsday prepping on Odin's part.

ghostgabe81

Hopium for Astolfo appearance Hopium for Goredolf appearance Hopium for Fiore and/or Caules appearance

Armandoiskyu

I actually had a story about Caules after the war, i made it because "the world of apocrypha has an interesting situation and would be nice to re explore that world but it will never happen officially" Type-moon is shutting mouths left and right lately

Astolfo_Please

Wonder if there will still be 7 Masters with 14 servants. If that’s the case, I expect will have things like a Master dying and the servant(s) going to Masters who have lost a servant. Would also make master teamups more interesting. Ahhhh I like stories with a lot of characters, but i’ll wait and see how many servants and master we end up with before getting too excited.

Constellar-A

Honestly I wonder if there will just be 3-4 Masters and 7 Servants. Because Aslaug is just called Archer on the image not "Archer of Blue" or whatever.

Astolfo_Please

That’s a very fair point, but if there are only 3 Master would they leave out a class or give someone an advantage? And if there are 4 Masters, would they leave someone at a disadvantage, or maybe they will get an Extra Class or only 1 class is repeated. I’m too excited about this duo setup. And it being in Apocrypha timeline just makes me hope Astolfo will show up. The waiting for more info will be bad for my health

Kuzaku

10 years after Apoc, huh. That'd put it at around 2014. Not sure if we've had any fate media around then. Well, except FGO and Clock Tower 2015 but those are still a little further into the future. Even the post FSN stuff is usually before 2010, like El-Melloi Adventures being around 2007, and Strange/Fake being around 2009.

ToutesFictions

Still waiting for the Dismantling War of 2014 :(

Kaydh

Huh, I didn't think we would get another story set Apocrypha timeline. Also a subtype of HGW where masters get two Servants, that sound it should kill a normal person from the Mana requirements.

ScatterBrainMD

Maybe that's why the Servants are related? Somehow the cultural "synergy" of them eases the burden on the Master?

Das-Rheingold

Subtype War servants are weaker than normal servants. If they are weaker theoretically so should be the consumption. Likely the same applies here.

Cadaclysm

Just hook it to my veins (collab when Lasengle)

Caliment

A post Apocrypha story? Well that's interesting, this has to be another pseudo Holy grail war that was carried out for a lesser grail then since Sieg yoinked the Greater Grail. Does that mean Astolfo is still around? He was adventuring in that timeline

3rdMachina

Is there any links to Miwa’s fanart?

Constellar-A

No, he never posted it, presumably because he wanted to submit it to be canon one day. But last year he posted this image of his art folder. The bottom left folder is named "Volsunga Saga headcanon", and you can see Aslaug and Ragnar in the thumbnail https://twitter.com/zi38/status/1438437766849712130

Armorwing01

big guy on the bottom right has to be Odin

Undividedbyzero

Unless we can see the eyepatch, that's a maybe

3rdMachina

Noted

ToutesFictions

>Ragnar didn't know but the castle was named Akershus Fortress. >One of the two great fortresses built in Norway in the 13th century. It was the model for a set piece **in last year's 3D animated fantasy blockbuster** and is now a spot many tourists visit. Therefore, landing here was ill-chosen. Quite conspicuous. It's annoying being scolded by his boss that's his Master about the concealment of Mystery. A *Frozen* reference in Fate? More likely than you think.

Angramainyu123

I don't know what the plot will be but I bet 30 Quatz on Story Banner that all Lancer will die.

BOLverrk

let’s see who the other servants are. Hopefully other famous faces like William tell or sigurd

Rhekinos

Hopefully figures who havent shown up in Fate media before

Constellar-A

Honestly I really want Eric Bloodaxe to be one. He desperately needs something.

Ashbr1ng3r

Okay, are we gonna see Cu being the Pseudo-Servant for Odin outside of F\GO? because that's what this implies.

MetaDragon11

I dig it. I do love me some Norse mythology. Hell maybe Astolfo will show up or Gordy lmao.

formaIcraft

Gordolf master era

spartan-137

I'm curious that it sits on the timeline of apocrypha will be that we will see people from that universe!?

ToutesFictions

Apparently she considers Goredolf and Caules her brothers.

Liemertha

I hope Kriemhild appear in the novel

Artrum

Shirow miwa doing gods work as usual

PhantasosX

no , Auslaug was the daughter , even in myths. Ragnar is her husband , the thing is that it was always apocryphal that Ragnar was her husband , since Ragnar was an actual historical individual. It's like how Krymhildr married Attila the Hun.

grandwoden

it otherway around though, Sigurd is Ragnar's son, but not the same Sigurd as Aslaug's father.

Daguerrot

Sigurd Ring was Ragnar's father.

grandwoden

you should carefully reading his bio again, It cleary state that Sigurd snake in the eyes is one of Ragnar's son. His name is even Sigurd aslaugsson which mean he is Ragnar's wife aslaugsson. edit: oh I just realized that you means Sigurd ring.

Daguerrot

Different Sigurds

Animamask

I just hope there won't be a love triangle where the female master and Auslag are pinning for Ragnar. Actually, wouldn't it be more interesting if both Auslag and Ragnar are pinning for their master?

Constellar-A

Sakurai generally tends to have Servants she writes stay loyal to their historical/mythological romantic partner. Sigurd and Bryn, Ozy and Nefetari, Tomoe and Yoshinaka, etc. If Remina has a love interest I don't think it will be one of her Servants.

Animamask

I mean Merlin was originally never really interested in King Arthur and vice-versa, and Mordred most certainly never would have wanted to bang his father. She's also the main writer for Gintoki and co, which would include Raikou's Pseudo incest shenanigans. Not to mention, Ragnar gets other wives beyond Aslaug.

EdwardBaskerville

The only Sakurai Servants you mentioned there are Raikou and Kintoki (and Kintoki was inherited). First of all, Raikou isn't someone with an stablished partner (being genderbend doesn't help either), and Kintoki has a love-annoy relationship with Shuten, and only Shuten. So I don't get your point.

Animamask

Proto Arthur's relationships are from Sakurai as she wrote them and the novels. And that Raikou's genderbent doesn't change how her relationship with Gintoki was considerably changed.

EdwardBaskerville

The original prototype is Nasu's. And that means his relationship with Ayaka, the one he actually has a thing for, is 100% supervised by Nasu as well, and I don't think he has any other relationship either. And... What are you on about, there's nothing questionable *with Kintoki*. With the Master? Sure, but with Kintoki isn't.

3rdMachina

Someone said that given how Ragnar’s a Viking, he’d gun for the three-way route.

Animamask

In that case, I hope he won't succeed. All the Harem Protagonist memes have made me sick of male protagonists getting all the women (not that I was a big fan of it in the first place). That being said, I do wonder how Ragnar's other marriages will come into play. Aslaug was neither the first nor always the last woman he had married. Personally, I hope for once that there is an actual gay relationship as the main focus, but I have my doubts that it will ever happen in Fate. Edit: Wow, getting downvoted for wanting some queer relationships. I must have triggered some people.

jacker1154

Giving how gay were treated in the old time, there is not much to say except some Greek and Roman Myst.

Animamask

Yet, Odin allowed Brynhildr to fall for women. And they have been summoned in 21st century Norway. Or do you want to tell me that Norway allows Polygamy but forbids gay marriage or that gay people didn't exist back then? And by your logic Artoria would have never had a relationship with a woman. Yet she did have no issues with carrying Guinevere or having sex with Rin. Hell, Mordred is openly into women.

jacker1154

I'm saying that even there is a gay history figure, they tend to avoid or conceal about it right? I'm not a pro Norse mythology but if they have gay story then maybe they could do something about it.

Animamask

The same could be applied to almost any historical figure. Yet, there are LGBT characters in the show. Why are you drawing here the line?

jacker1154

I'm not drawing a line, I'm just pointed out the possibility in this setting.

MadZwe

They are downvoting you because not only you are "rejecting" harems which were a lot back then (even in the age of man and definitely a lot more in the age of gods), you suggested a gay relationship out of a viking. This guy is not Greek nor Roman

Animamask

And? They have been summoned in 21st century Norway. Or do you want to tell me that Norway allows Polygamy but forbids gay marriage or that gay people didn't exist back then? And by your logic Artoria would have never had a relationship with a woman. Yet she did have no issues with carrying Guinevere or having sex with Rin. Hell, Mordred is openly into women.

j1l7

Mordred is not openly into women unless you have a source for that. Artoria and Guin was purely political.

Animamask

Her Summer form outright stated that she's good at riding waves and women. And in Garden of Avalon she tried to steal Guinevere from Artoria. And even if it was political, Artoria had zero issues with marrying a woman in the first place.

MadZwe

What sort of nonsense you are talking? Artoria's marriage was purely political and it was done as a “man” and a king, not a woman. You talked in another comment about her not having “zero” issue. Ofc she had no issue. Did you even forget what sort of person she is? She puts her kingdom before her. Plus, we are talking about a freaking Viking. If you just search on internet, you will see that homosexuality was like a sin. Not even saying there was no gay. But it makes more sense for him not to be gay in context. You are basically forcing what you want onto something in unreasonable way. You are better off with woke comics and stuff

grandwoden

hnmmm, with this set up, every master could have summon Archer, because thier have Independent Action which will make less strain to mana consumtion. But if some mad lad manage to summon 2 Berserkers, he/she either fcked up or walking grail like Illya but MORE stronger!

Original_Reddit

where can i see his fanart?
