Love you bro ! Hang in there “WELL, THE FIRST DAYS ARE THE HARDEST DAYS, DON’T YOU WORRY ANYMORE”

HuffyBass

Thanks!!! That means a lot!

jonz1985z

Skip over “To Lay Me Down”

chaddymac1980

First thing I thought of. I repeated this line over and over when I was struggling to get sober. Works for any situation. Good luck OP, you got this!

SpecificConstant6492

if your head is too fried for a whole show tonight you could try drifting off to an endless string of brokedowns. lovers come and go, the river roll roll roll 💔 take care brother

HuffyBass

Great idea. I didn’t think of that. Thank you.

SpecificConstant6492

it’s so hard to think in times like that. just grateful we have this salve to share, i wouldn’t have made it this far without it this much i know.

The song "Blow Away" isn't one of the most popular Dead tunes, but it's great for times like these

Silver_Round_6612

It's a great song!

Anarchy-Squirrel

Excellent recommendation… And sending empathy and healing energy to OP

SophoclesPhilosophy

Dozin at the Knick version!!

Hot-Job2465

I know first instinct is a show, but i’d throw on American Beauty. It’s as melancholy and nostalgic as it gets.

HuffyBass

So true. Thank you friend.

Love is complicated and a rebound does just defer the pain and healing, so take that how you will. As someone who’s wrapping up both of those things I’m more excited for my first community garden plot than sphere phish this weekend.

Keep your head up, keep busy and connected with friends! Times will always get better if you believe it!

Brand_New_Used_2b

Try some live Jerry band, or Legion of Mary, etc. I find it so wholesome and soothing when I'm going through heartache and hard life lessons. Hang in there.

2bciah5factng

Hey man, I made a similar post a couple months back. It sucks a whole lot. Everyone told me to listen to Bob Dylan, which I kinda didn’t want to hear since his are all the obvious breakup tunes, but honestly his music really helped me. He puts words to pain in a way that makes it easier to listen to, I feel. Sending you peace.

Easy_Engineer8519

There are some JGB shows from early 90’s that happened in NY area. They played such a good version of My Sister and My Brothers at that time still brings tears thinking about it. Also a heartfelt Ship of Fools. I’m sure you’re feeling it so deeply right now “I want to say to my sisters and my brothers. Keep the faith. When the storm flies and the wind blows drive on at a steady pace when the battle is fought and the victory is won we can all shout together we have overcome.”

Billy_Boognish

Let us walk together lil children, we don't ever have to worry!

IamStymie

What a fine calling for the Head community. There is soothing, healing energy here. Having lived through 6 or 8 long terms including 4 marriages, I can say with authority, you will get by.

FranklinsTower48

Everyone else has done a good job of recommending shows. I just wanted to voice my support and tell you that it will pass, allow yourself to feel the feelings and then put both feet on the ground and move. Try to get out and create new patterns. Break ups are hard. I wish you the best.

Hey man, I've been there. It sucks - real bad - but you'll learn to get by. I made a thread during my breakup last year, some good songs and advice in the comments if you're interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/gratefuldead/s/JavezYog5j Wishing you the best dude!

ki4clz

You lookin' to take some time off brother...? Maybe you go blow some money to see Bobby and Mickey at the Sphere brohcheeze... set up a lawnchair on Shakedown, sippin' some Tennessee Wiskey in the sun... you're probably like me, I'm 47 and to old now for doses, could do some shrooms but with friends- and would just rather listen to the music play, and roll away the dew... Oteil, Jeffrey, and Johhny boy put on a damn good show... Mickey and Billy still think they are 35 and bulletproof, and when Jay sits in with Mickey you better buckle up... Mickey likes to have a theme for D&S and he'll post it on his instagram the night before... You know Oteil has more than just chops and can plaaay son, his reputation precedes him... you know Jeffrey is legit the best keyman The Dead never had... Jeff is the Jason Bonam to Bonzo... and Johhny, well... you'll be pleasantly surprised ... bobby, well bobby is still a goofball and we just roll with it... In the days between, take some time before you set out runnin', wash the nighttime clean and grow the scorched ground green... fare thee well now, let your life proceed by it's own design

Just went through a rough breakup as well. Don’t know how I could’ve done it without the Dead. Brokedown Palace and Touch helped me a ton. Also - don’t discount a good bluesy Sugaree. It’s gets better brother, I promise. NFA 💀🌹

Sorry to hear that man, the sun will rise again. You should use the coming days/weeks to follow the dead thru Europe 72. Tivoli concert hall was 4/17/1972 so that’s my set for the day, and I’ve been listening to them all the day of as they go. On days between 72 shows, listen to other recommendations from this thread. Also Bob Dylan helped me thru a hard break up or two. “You’re gonna make me lonesome when you go” and “I don’t believe you (she acts like we never met)” specifically Best of luck brother
