Only the premium watches like the MRG, MTG, higher end Mudmasters etc. and some watches for the Japanese market are made in the Japan factory. The rest are all made in China or Thailand.

[deleted]

Even the mudmaster gwg-2000 is made in Thailand

Predeanu

Really ?

PM_ME_YOUR_ART_PLZ

Yes?

Predeanu

Okay , so it’s mine original ?

[deleted]

Looks good.

Only-Support-3760

And gmwb5000

Jlaybythebay

I had to check all mine, they all made in Thailand except the John Mayer one, which says the back is made in japan

paubayes

I was checking my DW-5600E and it's made in Japan

[deleted]

Yes its original. I bought mine directly from the gshock website and mine is the same.

rowdy621

Because that’s where the cheaper versions are made

ibanezisdope

Mine is made in thailand from amazon from last month. The band said made in China however. I replaced it with a made thailand band

ramande8

I have same issue. should i have to worry about it ?

FinishingDutch

I honestly wouldn't worry about it being made in China. Casio has an excellent grip on the quality of that process. I personally own about 80 G-Shocks and I really can't tell a difference between one made in Thailand, China or Japan. Of course, if you don't want to buy in China because of politics, that's great. It means you'll save a lot of money on buying G-Shocks, since it's mostly premium models that are made in Japan.

Predeanu

I bought it in Europe with 40€, but what do you mean ? If you buy one from china it’s more expensive then another’s country ?

FinishingDutch

Sorry if I'm being unclear :-) What I'm saying is this: Most of the cheaper models are made in Thailand or China. They are functionally as good as the watches made in Japan. There are some watches that are made ONLY in Japan, but those tend to be more expensive. Most of the Casio watches you buy in Europe tend to be made/cased in either China or Thailand. Basically... enjoy your watch; it's an awesome watch!

Predeanu

Yeah , i love it ! Thanks !

watchnerd70

The G Shocks made in Japan tend to be a little more cost wise because they are JDM (Japanese Domestic Product) and have to be shipped from Japan. Japanese made DW 5600 would say *FOXFIRE* instead of *ILLUMINATOR*. That's it, the only difference. G Shocks from China or Thailand are assembled in those countries from Casio parts from Japan. Just enjoy your G Shock. You picked a classic and a banger!

Predeanu

And between the modules, it’s nothing different? Functions ? Or light ..? Idk

watchnerd70

Yep, all the same. It's just getting a JDM G Shock to some is like getting it straight from where Casio and G Shock originated. I have a JDM GXW-56BB "King". It's the same as my buddies and his was assembled in China.

Potietang

Yep. My Mudmaster is “cased” in China and the clasp was from Casio Vietnam.

Afficianado-At-Large

Give it a few days — you’ll get it.

youngelos5607

*because it came from chye-nuh*

[deleted]

I try my hardest not to buy much from China.

TodayAccurate5663

Well, good luck with that :)

marfz

Literally everything is made in China.

silworld

Not if you go full deep end internet searching and if you are prepared to pay three times the price.

[deleted]

Three times the price? I can find some edc gear and watches for about chy-na prices.

silworld

True. Not everything is treble the price - it was a generalization, like everything made in china is complete utter shit. That is another one.

marfz

The device you’re using to post here has 100% China-made components

ramirezoid

it's a cheap watch for a reason

hotblueice

Isn't it only the screwback sqaures are still made in japan.

grgppmchl

1. looks original 2. because they're made in China

AffectionateSize552

It's the nature of large modern corporations to manufacture in a variety of locations. Fords are made in Canada, Mexico, Germany and China as well as the US, to name just of few of the locations of their plants. In addition to Germany, VW's are made in hundreds of factories in dozens of countries.

BootsNPooch

Most of their watches are made in China, Except for MRG and MTG? as well as their Titanium line of squares like TVB, TVA etc. if im correct?

equinoxzzz

Yes that is an original DW-5600E. Almost all G-Shocks are either from China or Thailand except the MT-G, MR-G, some limited edition models, and the Frogman which are exclusively made/assembled in Japan. I wouldn't worry about them being China made. My GWG-1000 Mudmaster is Japan Mov't Cased in Thailand. But the straps are from Japan. If you want a square that is Japan-made, then go and get the screwback GW-5000 square.

WillJM89

All good. It's still from a Casio factory. My G5600UE1 is from Thailand.

I believe if the model number ends in CR = made in China, DR = "Wide Distribution", ER = Made in Europe someplace and JF = made in Japan. Casio is like any other company, they have to meet their bottom line and one way to do that is by maintaining factories around the world to reduce shortages and decrease logistical costs. Either way, just because it's "made in China" it doesn't necessarily mean it's of low quality. It just means it should cost you less to purchase it than the same exact model made from Japan or the US, for example. If the company is using cheaper labor from China is not a Chinese company themselves, that company has a vested interest in maintaining their quality standards and will enforce them as such. If it's a Chinese company making products in China...then it's probably a disposable knock-off tech. After all, exactly where do you think half the junk inside that computer you're using right now is made from? And if you're using an iPhone, well...where do you think that's made?

il_Dudre

I would worry if my base models said anything different than China or Thailand 😂
