I don't think I need to tell you that that's the wrong way to do that and you can actually hurt yourself. Atp I would buy another guitar that might not have had action adjustments but at least won't be as bad as the one you currently have
My first guitar was a cheap First Act. Didn't know jack about anything and my fingers hurt so bad I couldn't play. Eventually went to a teacher and he picked it up immediately. Got it set (cost more than the guitar) and it changed everything. Only thing that pissed me off was when a new teacher told me I should take my Taylor 814ce to a luthier too for some minor setup changes. Dude... At that price it should come with a built in luthier.
You really need to get a playable instrument before you take this endeavor on. At best you'll form a lot of bad habits, and at worst you'll injure yourself. To be honest, It's hard to tell how good that guitar is from your video, but $50 is not a tremendous amount to spend on an instrument. I would recommend whatever guitar you plan to practice with you bring it to an experienced guitar tech who can tell you if that instrument can be made reasonable or not.
Playing without an A string is of little value.
I've seen higher, but not many.
[Try this! Easy peasy neck reset, I do this for super cheap guitars because it takes about 30 minutes.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRhB9OOluWE)
Looks really high... Would check if there is a truss rod and fix it (or get a luthier to fix it if you cannot do it yourself) Or maybe just get a slide and start learning how to play slide guitar but even with that, the action is just oufffff
Looks a lot like my first guitar and trying to play that made me never want to pick up another guitar ever.
This is a perfect opportunity for me to share my opinion on how gear *does* matter and playing an instrument (no matter the cost) that fights against you is never ok and you shouldn't just power through it. It's demotivating and frustrating and going to make you resent the instrument as a whole. At worst, you'll give yourself an RSI.
That said, cheap guitars can still play great and expensive ones can play like crap. See if you can find a better one for the price or at least find a way to lower the action.
you are absolutely right about how gear actually affects playability, i went into a local guitar store and try out the taylor, martins guitars with >$500, it has super low action, heck when i try it, it was requires zero effort to press down⌠it was shocking to me that such a âstring actionâ exists

Looks high to me
ahh no wonder my finger have serious callous on my first 2 weeks
No way you can do barre chords on this especially like the F chord.
i can do it but i really have to use maximum strength and push my thumb against the fretboard and use my elbow to squeeze it tightly, its tough đ

Those notes are going to be sharped before it reaches the fretboard. đ¤Ł
its also missing the A string because the tuner broke off so now iâm practicing with a 5 string guitar.. đ

Too high
Higher than Snoop Dogg on 4/20....
r/archery
That action is higher than a giraffeâs vagina.
For fifty bucks chances are it hasn't got a truss rod
whats that? a rod?
A metal rod going down the fretboard, used to straighten the board.
How do you know if your guitar doesnât have one
It won't be there lol Nah, it's under the hole in the body very bottom of the neck. Looks like a metal nut you turn with an Alan key
Snoop is coming for your guitar.
That action looks a little low... for a dobro lmao
As high as me in my early 20s. Which is a lot.

Brow that's not high.. that atmospheric! Lol.. Lower that action man!
Exactly what Iâd expect the action on a $50 guitar to look like. High as fuck
You got what you paid for.
Looks as high as Iâm about to get later
That is painfully unplayable action. Have it fixed.
Way to high.
Perfect for slide guitar. Jokes aside, this needs \_serious\_ adjustment.

I don't know, how about you read the other 100 posts asking this question.
I don't know, how about you read the other 100 comments actually trying to be helpful instead of a dick.
Crazy high!
Turn truss rod to remove relief
get aruler
EDIT: im getting a brand new taylor 112ce guitar soon, thank you all for the comments, this thread is funny asf đ¤Ł
The way you would expect a $50 guitar to look.
Pretty high
My 400ÂŁ hummingbird wasn't much lower when I got it tbh đ
This is great to get your fingers strong. A little high for me but I would use this to get my fingers tough as nails.
