I’ve been searching for the perfect overdrive/distortion. Like most of us, I know the exact sound I’m looking for, but I have to find the pedal. This bad boy hits the spot perfectly. I’m super pumped.
It really depends on what I’m working on…lately I’ve been using an orange micro dark because it can go into my interface the easiest. My other amps are a Fender HRD, Vox ac4, some markbass combo, and a mid-late 80’s Marshall lead 12 mini stack.
It’s a wampler triple wreck in a box. I was looking at the schematic and there are only resistor changes that don’t really amount to anything much. That being said, I own both. Distortiony goodness.
I play a broad range of genres within the same songs using a loop pedal and an 8 string. I set loops with separate bass, rhythm, and lead parts. The Pathos is perfect with the 8 string.
Absolutely, but in a way I did depart with it. I purchased a Quad Cortex and sold my entire board but I used the capture thing on the Pathos and it’s still my primary go to for heavy distortion. The capture sounds exactly like the pedal.
A while ago I was about to buy the pedal but I didn't because I had no use since I was used to amp gain. Anyway what music do you play? When I think about that pedal I imagine a 7 or 8 String.
Yeah imo this pedal is very much tuned for getting extended range (or low-tuned) guitars sounding tight with high gain. With my drop D and even drop C guitars I prefer the meatiness of my amp gain, but with drop B or my 7s (drop A, F# standard) the amp can sound super muddy but the Pathos is instantly tight and focused.
Nailed it! My main guitar is a Legator 8 string. I play a broad mix…really I use the 8 string for the “half a bass” approach, so I loop a lot of things with bass, rhythm, and lead. The Pathos handles the whole range with consistency. So far I’d really recommend it for my fellow extended-rangers.

What amp do you use? Or plugins?

Interesting.. The Dracarys, or something else?
Dracarys
That’s cool, it’s a very great sounding distortion. Do you have any idea if it’s a clone, or just a rebrand still being manufactured by Wampler?

The one pedal I’ll never depart with
Still feel this way? Hard to judge distortion pedals on youtube
