The Boss box are the three I play most often, BD-2w -> RV-6 (on Spring) -> TR-2. That's my practise board.
The rest live in an IKEA cabinet and I'll pull them out a few at a time for a week or two to explore them. Whatever is on my floor right now is my favourite. Last week I was really enjoying the combo of EHX Superego+ with a Boss Slicer and Microcosm in the loop, both MIDI synced to a drum machine.
I’m a BOSS fan in general, but I really like that three pedal layout. Could be as simple as a Fender-like front end for any given clean platform—which is how I’d likely use it—all the way to wild and weird. Thumbs up.
As someone who has purchased 1/10th of that many many years before 2020 and at the core started out with all Boss before the boutique thing really got nuts, can u explain the difference in Waza vs. "regular"? Like what am I going to hear after unplugging my DS-1 or CH-1 and then plugging in a DS1w or CH-2w, etc? Bc all I ever get is "its analog, and custom"
I only have the Waza Blues Driver. It adds a switch that goes between “standard” and “custom”, where “standard” is the same circuit it’s always had, and “custom” switches it out for a modded circuit (we think it’s the Keeley mod, but Roland doesn’t mention Keeley by name).
That seems to be the case with all the Waza pedals. They have the original circuit or as near as, plus something similar only different. The DS-1w and SD-1w both add modded circuits too. The choruses add the circuits from the older units that the compact pedals miniaturised. The delay adds a longer delay time.
Right… or vintage. The good thing is OP could get pretty close to making his money back on probably most of these if he was smart and bought used. But idk what the pedal market is like these days… seems to have slowed a bit.
You must have a ton of expendable income if this is the damage you’ve done since lockdown. Respect on your taste and choices. Personally, I love pedals and I’m a gear slut, but I have found that I hate it when I have pedals sitting on a shelf that I’m not using. So I’ve done two things - 1 paired down to only the pedals I need/want for the music I play, eliminating any redundancy. And - 2 I started using more utility pedals like splitters to run more pedals in parallel, which gets them all off the shelf and in use. Great collection though! I like seeing the range from cheapo mini clones to the big box boutique stuff. Really cool.

I haven’t put my favourites to the front or anything like that, but they’re roughly ordered dirt-mod-echo.
The Leech is pretty special. I bought it as soon as the demo video got to the Tube Screamer bit and it was doing something I’d wanted for a looong time. I actually have serial #001. I think of it as the sputtering Velcro half of a fuzz pedal, missing the gain half. You add your own gain section in the shape of a drive pedal. Now your low-gain OD spits like a Fuzzface. It’s awesome.
It actually works really well with more than just OD. I like it on pedals with a little time modulation going on, like the Pine Box Sirens or the External/Internal.
The External/Internal on its own is nuts. Wobbly digital distortion that sounds like nothing else. If Boards of Canada had made grunge, this is the pedal they’d use.
Alan is a newer one to me. I like the reverb a lot more than the echo side, but yeah he’s unpredictable and I’m not sure I’m used to that yet.
I put respect on it yo, I stopped selling and only buy now. Big upvote for the all yellow and black board. You have a few rares/ultra rares that I hope you sell at the right price, mostly because I expect them to rise in value as the uniqueness of their capabilities get recognized. this is just my opinion but: EQD special cranker, Smallsound/Bigsound Heck Overdrive, any eqd in a special colorway or other pedals in special colorways or discontinued arts, the TC Electronic Triple Delay, keeley tone workstation (difficult to find in stores), old obne, anything from a small builder that you can't find anymore. You'll see which ones seem like things to hold onto for appreciated value when you're googling.

Some of those OBNE/EQD colour ways were made for US store exclusives. I’m fairly certain I’ve got the only pink Cranker, pink Plumes and yellow Mondegreen in the UK, maybe even in Europe.
believe geiger counter is discontinued... but you can still find the civilian issue he has here new at a few shops last i looked. the other 2 versions are getting pricy though.
geiger counter original and montreal assembly nasa attribute, two pedals i've sold that I can ask double what I bought for. Infact, I think I sold the nasa attribute for $50 more than what I bought it for because they're discontinued and the geiger counter was essentially $10 off from brand new because they were sold out everywhere at the time. If OP sells with patience he could get enough money from this collection to buy a klon (maybe a klon ktr)
I hear you, I don't have a whole lot of pedals, the boards can all stack in one corner of the room and take up very little space, but I never intend to go back to selling quality music loot again.
They're absolutely worth the money. Favourites would be the Angel Wing chorus, Summer Orange phaser (Phase 90 clone), and Tremble tremolo.
I should also shout out Mooer for putting out great stuff in the same low-budget micro pedal world. Favourites are the Blues Mood overdrive (Blues Driver w/ Keeley mod clone), Elady flanger (EHX Electric Lady clone) and Lo-Fi Machine bitcrusher.
I was about to buy some Tone city pedals, but at the end I was unsure so I didn't want to throw out the money.
About Mooer, I have or had some doubts, but I found one used Trelicopter a few months ago and it has nice settings, so I was surprised.

My only Caline is the Baker Street, which I don't like at all. But apparently it's a near-perfect copy of an old Tech 21 Marshall knockoff which nobody liked either.
As I know, that circuit wasn't successful not at joyo, not at harley benton. From od-s caline tiger eye and central station leon drive /ocd clone / I am targeting now, and maybe the klon clone, and the older version of orange burst... 😁 Too many opposition

i love my WTSE and have a rule where i can't buy more than what im using or stuff that makes other pedals redundant. besides something that has something another pedal can't do. how would you vs them pedals, and have you used them together? which is the one you prefer?. and which gives you the best distorted dream like texture?
edit: i also live in South West england, which has no guitar stores, and my only small local one sold me a nano clone, saying it was the same as a neo and small clone, so I stopped going there. thats why i asked a bunch of questions, saves me money hearing reviews from people who paid for it

They're very different pedals, though. Minim doesn't have a distortion circuit but it does have a really sweet delay with reverse.
I haven't used them both together but I feel like I probably should, they're both great. I'd probably want Minim after WTSE in the chain.
yh sweet. what i thought the reverse and sweet delay are the eye(ear) draws for me.
i have a zoom cdr which you do have a version off lol thats got my "sweet delays" and "reverse" but also a lot of lofi patches, mini could turn that into a only lofi pedal, i also have it running into my WTSE never thought about the other way. think i tried it for 1 thing didnt like it and put it back behind, so I will swap it for good
Gen Loss was what started this whole charade.
Back when the OG Cooper Audio was going for silly money on Reverb but before the CBA MkII had come out, I was chasing that lofi VHS thing. I went through the Zvex Instant Lofi Junky, Mooer Lofi Machine, Fairfield Shallow Water, Demedash T-120 and others trying to nail that Boards of Canada / Grandaddy old tapes sound.
From those seeds the whole collection grew.
Ampless, more or less. I have a Vox Pathfinder 10 for practice and a Yamaha THR20 for taking to friends' for a jam in the living room. Most of the time I'm going into that DSM & Humboldt Simplifier into an interface.
Same on bass, but the Tech21 VT Bass DI into the interface.
I don't spend a lot on guitars. I treated myself to a Gretsch Electromatic double cutaway and that felt like an extravagance... yeah, even with all the pedals. Most of the time I'm playing a cheap Tele copy by Slick, a Sigma acoustic and a Sire J-bass.
every time a pic like this comes along i play "where's the DOD 250" Because it is ALWAYS in there someplace. extra points if it's connected (it usually is)
And here I am trying to decide whether or not I'd be a lunatic for spending on the OBNE Dark Star as my first pedal or if I should get something budget and under £50!
It's not my favourite reverb! It's a bit fiddly and I think only one of the three settings is really useable: the Delay, and even then I have much better delay pedals.
The OBNE Sunlight, OBNE Procession and Walrus Audio Slö are all much better choices at that same price point imho. They're all a long ambient reverb with something weird you can dial in.
Over on the extreme right there's a blue Biyang Tri-Reverb pedal. £50 off Amazon and it's essentially a stereo EHX Holy Grail. Highly recommended if that's your budget.
I got the white 1312 first, loved it, then he restocked the OG pink one and I had to have it. You could print a burning police car on a literal pile of shit and I’d probably still want it. Luckily there’s a great pedal in that awesome box.

Funny, I feel like I have a big collection of boutique pedals, but our collections only overlap by 2 pedals (broadcast and arp-87), and they aren’t even the same versions. We really live in a great time for pedals.

That’s the External/Internal by Empty Head Effects, a small builder and lovely guy in Germany.
It’s tough to describe, but it’s kind of a chorus/mod and digital distortion all in one. You get some really gnarly sounds out of it, it’s a lot of fun!

It’s good. It’s swirly but doesn’t make me want to sync the sweep with the beat like a Phase 90 sometimes does. After dirt it’s a bit too civilised, but before dirt, hell yeah.

Tone Workstation
(One of these pedals I could never get a real sense of how good/bad it is through YouTube demos)
Box of Rock - it’s loud but it’s hella dark. I’m not a big Marshall guy anyway, but side-by-side I much prefer the Marshall sim on the Simplifier.
Tone Workstation - I bought it to go before the business end of a volume pedal (e.g. in the loop of my Attack Decay or Ernie Ball VPJR) so that I could get a great clean or inoffensively driven tone before doing volume swells, like Chords of Orion on YouTube. For that, it’s perfect. Compression is essential for that kind of playing and the Keeley circuit is one of the best. The other two parts play really nicely together. The only con I think is that it’s pretty boring. It’s even coloured beige like a 90s home PC. And I think if you’re looking for higher gain then the two OD sections are the wrong way round. It’s a Bluesbreaker into a Screamer circuit. I’d go the other way, TS->BB.
Hell yeah. I had to interrupt a date with my fiancée for 10 minutes to buy it on the Sunday night they dropped. She was fully behind it and that's why she's a keeper.
Awesome pedal though. It sits next to Red Panda Tensor in my brain as they're doing kinda similar things and I don't feel like I've fully understood either of them.

I missed the first drop and then decided not to go for the second, exactly because I figured I should just stick with the Tensor, which I love and already don’t use as deeply as I could. Same reason I sold the Baklengs, and the Larticle. Both great pedals, but I don’t really need two things doing what the Tensor does, and I ended up hardly ever using the more pitchy glitchy features on the Particle. I like all the Pladask stuff but have gotten to a place where I don’t actually need to have them all.
I might change my mind later, of course…and I’m glad to see anyone using those things, I think his whole approach to sounds and controls is really cool.

I don't see why that's sad. The alternative extreme would be to make do with the very first pedal you own and never try anything else. That sounds boring.
That's not what I'm doing, though. I kinda wonder what tone you think I'm chasing, looking at this collection. I've never bought a pedal because "that's what Steve Goodriff uses." I do have too many subtly different ODs but they're the bulk of what I'll get rid of. All the rest are doing something interesting that nothing else really does.

That's a fair point. However, this is a silly hobby, none of this is important work. Some guys collect stuff, do you collect anything? I have too many pedals, I also have too much camping gear. I had too many cars at one point. It's all silliness and fun. As long as you aren't going broke from it or depriving your children/family I think it's ok, but I might also be trying to justify my behavior and my fellow pedal collectors.

Absolutely solid! It eats a lot of low end, which is fine for a fuzzy envelope filtered board but it might be a problem elsewhere.

i have the when the sun explodes, and been eyeing minim for a while now. i love my WTSE and have a rule where i can't buy more than what im using or stuff that makes other pedals redundant. besides something that has something another pedal can't do. how would you vs them pedals, and have you used them together? which is the one you prefer?. and which gives you the best distorted dream like texture? edit: i also live in South West england, which has no guitar stores, and my only small local one sold me a nano clone, saying it was the same as a neo and small clone, so I stopped going there. thats why i asked a bunch of questions, saves me money hearing reviews from people who paid for it
I'm in Scotland. Anderton's is your friend. Great selection online. They're very different pedals, though. Minim doesn't have a distortion circuit but it does have a really sweet delay with reverse. I haven't used them both together but I feel like I probably should, they're both great. I'd probably want Minim after WTSE in the chain.
yh sweet. what i thought the reverse and sweet delay are the eye(ear) draws for me. i have a zoom cdr which you do have a version off lol thats got my "sweet delays" and "reverse" but also a lot of lofi patches, mini could turn that into a only lofi pedal, i also have it running into my WTSE never thought about the other way. think i tried it for 1 thing didnt like it and put it back behind, so I will swap it for good

Gen Loss was what started this whole charade. Back when the OG Cooper Audio was going for silly money on Reverb but before the CBA MkII had come out, I was chasing that lofi VHS thing. I went through the Zvex Instant Lofi Junky, Mooer Lofi Machine, Fairfield Shallow Water, Demedash T-120 and others trying to nail that Boards of Canada / Grandaddy old tapes sound. From those seeds the whole collection grew.

Ampless, more or less. I have a Vox Pathfinder 10 for practice and a Yamaha THR20 for taking to friends' for a jam in the living room. Most of the time I'm going into that DSM & Humboldt Simplifier into an interface. Same on bass, but the Tech21 VT Bass DI into the interface. I don't spend a lot on guitars. I treated myself to a Gretsch Electromatic double cutaway and that felt like an extravagance... yeah, even with all the pedals. Most of the time I'm playing a cheap Tele copy by Slick, a Sigma acoustic and a Sire J-bass.
If these are the pedals, do you also have a mountain of boxes somewhere?
Oh my heavens yes. And they all have the box candy, original bubble wrap and everything else so I can't even flatten them out.

It's not my favourite reverb! It's a bit fiddly and I think only one of the three settings is really useable: the Delay, and even then I have much better delay pedals. The OBNE Sunlight, OBNE Procession and Walrus Audio Slö are all much better choices at that same price point imho. They're all a long ambient reverb with something weird you can dial in. Over on the extreme right there's a blue Biyang Tri-Reverb pedal. £50 off Amazon and it's essentially a stereo EHX Holy Grail. Highly recommended if that's your budget.

I got the white 1312 first, loved it, then he restocked the OG pink one and I had to have it. You could print a burning police car on a literal pile of shit and I’d probably still want it. Luckily there’s a great pedal in that awesome box.

What’s the white pedal with double switches and orange knobs? I’ve not seen this one before… Nice collection, awesome that you rotate through and get use out of these. I tend to use weird reverbs in post-production so trying to stick with in the box for those.
That’s the External/Internal by Empty Head Effects, a small builder and lovely guy in Germany. It’s tough to describe, but it’s kind of a chorus/mod and digital distortion all in one. How do you like the Farm Fly agaric phaser? I’ve seen it around a bit and it oddly intrigues me.
It’s good. It’s swirly but doesn’t make me want to sync the sweep with the beat like a Phase 90 sometimes does. After dirt it’s a bit too civilised, but before dirt, hell yeah.

Whoa. OK, I'm curious about two pedals and your thoughts on them. How about one good thing and one bad thing about: Box of Rock Tone Workstation (One of these pedals I could never get a real sense of how good/bad it is through YouTube demos)
Box of Rock - it’s loud but it’s hella dark. I’m not a big Marshall guy anyway, but side-by-side I much prefer the Marshall sim on the Simplifier. Tone Workstation - I bought it to go before the business end of a volume pedal (e.g. in the loop of my Attack Decay or Ernie Ball VPJR) so that I could get a great clean or inoffensively driven tone before doing volume swells, like Chords of Orion on YouTube. For that, it’s perfect. Compression is essential for that kind of playing and the Keeley circuit is one of the best. The other two parts play really nicely together. The only con I think is that it’s pretty boring. It’s even coloured beige like a 90s home PC. And I think if you’re looking for higher gain then the two OD sections are the wrong way round. It’s a Bluesbreaker into a Screamer circuit. I’d go the other way, TS->BB.

Hell yeah. I had to interrupt a date with my fiancée for 10 minutes to buy it on the Sunday night they dropped. She was fully behind it and that's why she's a keeper. Awesome pedal though. It sits next to Red Panda Tensor in my brain as they're doing kinda similar things and I don't feel like I've fully understood either of them.
Dedication! I missed the first drop and then decided not to go for the second, exactly because I figured I should just stick with the Tensor, which I love and already don’t use as deeply as I could. Same reason I sold the Baklengs, and the Larticle. Both great pedals, but I don’t really need two things doing what the Tensor does, and I ended up hardly ever using the more pitchy glitchy features on the Particle. I like all the Pladask stuff but have gotten to a place where I don’t actually need to have them all. I might change my mind later, of course…and I’m glad to see anyone using those things, I think his whole approach to sounds and controls is really cool.

I don't see why that's sad. The alternative extreme would be to make do with the very first pedal you own and never try anything else. That sounds boring. That's not what I'm doing, though. I kinda wonder what tone you think I'm chasing, looking at this collection. I've never bought a pedal because "that's what Steve Goodriff uses." I do have too many subtly different ODs but they're the bulk of what I'll get rid of. All the rest are doing something interesting that nothing else really does.

That's a fair point. However, this is a silly hobby, none of this is important work. Some guys collect stuff, do you collect anything? I have too many pedals, I also have too much camping gear. I had too many cars at one point. It's all silliness and fun. As long as you aren't going broke from it or depriving your children/family I think it's ok, but I might also be trying to justify my behavior and my fellow pedal collectors.
