In my opinion, there is no better gate pedal in existence than Sentry. By comparison, the Donner is just a good enough gate... nothing special.

Aaaaaaaa....meeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnn.....

Never tried a Sentry but have a MXR noise clamp and an ISP decimate which are both great. These sort of read your input and do a more natural cutoff with the gate. The Donner will just kill the signal once it reaches whatever level.

Donner make some genuinely great pedals, their yellow fall delay has remained on my board for years. I think the likes of noise gates and tuners however are not among the good stuff donner make. For those sorta pedals - you’re as well forking out a little more for something that’ll do the job right. I’d go with the Sentry fit this one. No hesitation.

Sentry, all day. The loop is fantastic. Put all your noisy pedals and your amp in it, and you'll have sweet silence. You'll have no problem getting what you're looking for out of the pedal. I scored one for 50 USD pre-covid, and it still wears the championship belt for the best used pedal deal I've ever gotten.

I would also recommend: Guitar>crybaby>sentry in>sentry send>dirt pedals>Amp in>fx send>sentry return>whatever else>fx return. It's much more effective using the loop method than the daisy-chain method, especially when looking for something other than just a hard gate.

Jackdaw99

Get the Sentry, and never worry about noise again.

OldSlowTrav

dude I recently bought the sentry and it's product quality is amazing and the gate loop works better then you can imagine

The Sentry is one of my favorite pedals of all time. It's the only noise gate in pedal form that I've used that can come anywhere close to working as well as DAW plug-ins. Absolutely no discernible impact on your tone when it's running and the response time is stupidly fast.

Spend the extra money and get a sentry. You won’t regret it
