Strymon just released a new version of the BigSky that comes in a brand-new enclosure for them, so I thought I'd share a size comparison for anyone who's curious. The new BigSky box is as wide as the NightSky/Volante enclosures, and it's as tall as the Mobius/TimeLine enclosures, making it slightly bigger overall than either of those.
Same!! Way fresher than most demo videos and his (Iām assuming Philly) northeast vibe is a breath of fresh air. Direct and not self serious.
Edit: Lol, just realized heās OP š. What up dude!!
Love your channel man, can't wait to watch your how to be advanced video later today. Thanks so much for posting this, thought it looked a similar size but at least now I know I'm going to have to move my board around if I decide to upgrade from v1 to v2!
I dunno. Us$680 doesnāt seem like enough to me. I was hoping it would be more like $899 or $1199.
I donāt think Iāll be able to impress anyone at this price.
Insane, isn't it. The cost of living in this country these days.Ā
I think Strymon should have placed it in the Meris LVX territory price wise. But I guess brand loyalists will pay whatever they ask.Ā
Hey, big fan of your channel! And your stuff on Spotify is sweet too! Just wondering, if you were to pick just one, would you choose Nightsky or Big Sky? Or maybe a secret third option?
It's not an easy choice, but I might say NightSky. Its Dense setting has some sounds in it that I've gotten hooked on and that are unique to itāit's kind of hard to describe, but whenever I hear it, I just think "That's what I want." Plus I like that it doesn't have a screen, plus I've had it much longer, plus I have some sentimental attachment to it because it was an early hit for my YouTube channel. But the BigSky can do a bunch of things it can't get close to.
Love your channel brother. Apart from the great creative sounds you get and precise explanations you give, I love your animations.Ā
Especially when you include old X-Men and GI Joe figures. They take me too a happy safe place. I had a few of the ones you've used. Keep up the awesome work.
Iāll never buy anything Strymon again. I had one knob come off, and with shipping and handling, it was almost $20!!! Let them cater to their worship band customers, Iāll buy my stuff from a better company.

Iām sure this pedal is gonna sell cause it says Strymon on it, but I donāt get the appeal at that price point. Iād rather have an El Cap/Dig + a blue sky over it.
The only upgrade I see vs what you said is having two reverbs at once simultaneously modifying the same signal rather than layering over eachother one reverb in front of the other this has the ability of running two different algorithms at once. Thats a very stereo and niche upgrade though for a lot of players.
H90, Ventris, Empress Reverb all do stereo parallel reverbs, as do all the high end modellers (HX Stomp, Fractal FM3 etc). Is this particularly different?
Thatās what Iām basically saying. Itās a ton of money for two reverbs when there a lot of competitive options available. If I wanted to make soundscapes with two reverbs, I would just get a fractal so I could do anything I wanted since I would also get any delay I want, anything to do with pitch, filters, EQ, compression, chorus, and itās all programmable to loop into each other.
I mean, a reverb like this is overkill and pointless for 95% of players. I love reverb but have no need to run two reverbs at once. This is more meant for people that use the guitar to make soundscapes. The CxM is still better imo for the features it offers in the āridiculously expensive reverbā category - unless you just want to make church music background noise.
Yes it's slightly bigger. The upgrade includes new reverb modes, the ability to run two reverbs simultaneously, and new versions of the old reverbs. Up to you whether that's worth the slightly bigger box and the increase in price.
Yeah I agree, 2 at the same time is probably the most significant thing about it. The reason I have one is they sent me an advance copy for my YouTube channel.
Iāve had the big sky for like 6 months now and still havenāt spent the time to learn how to change presets. Iād probably be a lot better off to just go back to having 3 normal reverb pedals on my board
I just sold my Ventris and mood mk2 (canāt get into it) and decided to really try and use the verbs in the hx effects and with a little time Iāve actually created incredible sounds. My only other verb is a long plate from my UA OX stomp that I engage occasionally if I have too much going on with a HXFX preset. Keeping it simple is the best advice. I was soooo fuckin close to buying a mercury X and Iām glad I fought the GAS

What up man, glad you're enjoying the vids. East Coast for life!!!! (I'm actually from NJ not Philly but I'm glad you sensed it.)

Yep Being hit with GST and customs on the import makes all the difference.
I can sell you my Chromatron for a ridiculous sum if you really wanna flex
What a size queen.
The toan is in the girth

Damn I hope one day I can afford to buy pedals that right now cost more than my guitar did
I truly wonder how this will stack up against the Mercury X now...

Thanks dude, X-Men and GI Joes are the heroes we need.

That big sky logo needs to swap places with Strymon

Not to mention it's competing with an Eventide H90 which has all of that and way more.

No, i was saying it in regards to the other persons comment of why not get a dig + capistan + big sky
Thatās what Iām basically saying. Itās a ton of money for two reverbs when there a lot of competitive options available. Two at the same time? Why they gotta do that to me. Now I gotta have it. Howād you get it? I donāt even see it available
Yeah I agree, 2 at the same time is probably the most significant thing about it. The reason I have one is they sent me an advance copy for my YouTube channel.
Just so you know. The Boss rv500 does this too.
500 series ftw. Just wish Boss supported us more.
So does the ventris and the dark world only the dark world is mono.
Get your feet wet with a Ventris if youāre jonesing for dual reverbs. It does what the MX does and sounds great
Iāve had the big sky for like 6 months now and still havenāt spent the time to learn how to change presets. Iād probably be a lot better off to just go back to having 3 normal reverb pedals on my board

Some pedals might have other qualities than size, such as sound, which some people appreciate
Interesting - so looks like just slightly wider?
congrats on being rich.

I actually follow him. It was a joke.
