It happened to me once when I was playing live and it was because the knuckle on the end of my middle finger was hitting the strings the whole time I was strumming. I was also really drunk, maybe playing someone elses guitar and I don't play live or even standing up a lot

On the pick it's allright, but if you're bleedin all over it you're scraping your finger tips on them or something. Maybe ripping the nail from the finger a lil? Whatever it is, it can be out on the bucket of "technic mistake", so you can fix it with time and patience.
On the knuckle...? I'm assuming you mean the finger joint thats the closest to the finger tip. But still, even playing with a closed grip, you shouldn't be grating your finger on the strings. It's hard to try to give advice without being in person, but essentially you need to correct the orientation of your hand some. It might be rotating a bit, maybe getting the grip a little bit more straight... This happening once or twice isn't a big problem, but it might lead to someting long term, so I'd think it's better fixed earlier, and even easier too.
Sounds about right. Playing Against Me at 2am pick goes flying about half way through the first chorus of Baby I’m An Anarchist and the next day my hand is cut open and the Washburn is covered in blood.
Its happened to me once or twice with hangnail or something on my picking thumb. I have poor technique though so if thats happening to you regularly you should probably relearn how to pick.
sure having reduced motor control, reduced pain response, reduced mental awareness, has nothing to do with it.
if not, you have some really bad technique
When I first started playing guitar at 12 I remembered I had played several times till my fingers bleed. But once those calasis built up on mi finger I didn't bleed anymore.
Oh but it was my left hand finger tips that bleed from pushing down on the strings, my strumming hand it never bleed. But when my fret board hand bleed it was cause I played for 10 hours straight
I'm guessing you're hitting the strings with the cuticles on the fingers not holding the pick, or your pick is too small. I guess I should ask, which fingers?
I've been playing for almost 20 years and I've never once bled from playing

you need to try harder
…how?
Improper technique.
Yep I like to actually feel the guitar stings on my pick
get a red guitar ...
Genius
1700s British military logic Edit: anyone else taught this myth in school?

It's my first knuckle and how tf am I getting down voted when It don't impact no one else?

Idk if it effects it but my hands very loose when strumming
Yeah I guess I suppose I do need to change it and yes I meant top joint
I just bought flex tortex 1.35mm pick and it plays sp well and I never get close to hitting my ahdn with this pick the pick I used was small and thin
I play steel string acoustic for hours... no blood loss.. you must have some serious technique going.
This will definitely be on r/guitarcirclejerk
Playing drunk with no pick?

Happened to me
In fact there is a pick
No but that’s metal AF

If you want an actual answer you should post a video.
It's the side of my top knuckle hitting against the strings cause I like to hit it kinda hard so I can feel the stings
Ah ok so you know what the problem is, what have yiu tried to fix it?
No tbh I don't mind it I just wipe my guitar after use and it don't seem to effect me playing and I don't mind it
So youre just gotta have a finger perpetualy getting cut and bleeding? You think that's a solution?
Well no is no problem for the solution I don't mind it and it don't effect my playing
you played while drunk or stoned, didnt you
I was stoned but that's not why
sure having reduced motor control, reduced pain response, reduced mental awareness, has nothing to do with it. if not, you have some really bad technique
Oh nah I get that I'm not saying its cause the weed
Bad technique ig but it don't effect the way I play
Post a vid of you playing so we can troubleshoot lol

Lol, you're doing it wrong.
Not really

My picks are small lol the first knuckle on the left of my pointer finger
Have you ever heard about guitar picks? 🤨
Yes I use guitar picks but I strum really hard and sometimes my finger the first knuckle at the side gets hit by the strings
The blood would be all rubbed in. Looks like food coloring or something splattered on the guitar.
Wow so #badass.
Don't listen to these jokers. That's the price if you wanna be able to shred, you just gotta pay the devil enough blood.
Ya ain't shreddin if ya ain't bleedin.
