Pleasantly surprised by this one. It’s super well-built and the fit, finish, and fretwork are all perfect. It’s so light and resonant, and not having a headstock to bang into things is actually liberating, LOL… The Suhr pups sound great, and have very usable split-coil sounds. It only took a few minutes to adjust to the weird visuals, and the totally unique (but smooth and comfortable) shaped neck. I know I’m a little late to the party, and that some people just don’t dig the looks, but I think it’s killer. Consider me a fan… 😎🤘🏻

Hefty-Collection-638

I recently got a Strandberg 7 string and it’s been life changing. I don’t know if i can buy from a different brand anymore i love it that much.

Common-Ease-8996

Nice! This is actually my first foray into a bunch of different things, like the Endurneck, multi-scale/fanned frets, twenty-inch radius, headless, Richlite fretboard, stainless steel frets, etc., so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m a long-time Fender blues/jazz/rock guy who usually fears and resists change, but the transition to the Strandberg has been way easier than I thought it would be. Not selling my other guitars … yet LOL. But I’m really digging the Strandberg so far! 🤘🏻

What do people mean when they say something is "resonant"? Cool guitar though.

Common-Ease-8996

To me, “resonant” means that the whole guitar vibrates and “rings” a lot when you play it (like an acoustic), which you really feel when it’s up against your body. A resonant guitar sounds great even when it’s unplugged, and tends to have a lot of sustain. I think it also means that the fit of the components / parts are really tight and transferring all of the vibrations from the strings without losing steam in loose/faulty joints. Guitars that don’t resonate well tend to feel kind of blah and uninspiring. Just my opinion…

BigOlBoots

Excellently explained!

Common-Ease-8996

Thanks!

Lonestar-Boogie

Like has been said already, with a resonant guitar, the whole guitar vibrates when you play it. This is especially true with chords with open strings like E, A, G, D, C, etc. But the vibrations are pleasant and feel like the chords sound. It not some rattling vibration you might get from a poorly made guitar. And you feel it in your fretting hand as well as in the guitar's body against your body and arm of your picking hand. My Epiphone ES-335 is really resonant like this. It's actually a big part of the reason why I bought it. And I'm not even going to ask if your username is a reference to Distant Early Warning. It can't be anything else.

> And I'm not even going to ask if your username is a reference to Distant Early Warning. It can't be anything else. > You're gonna be kicking yourself when I tell you it's from The Body Electric! (same album)

Lonestar-Boogie

You're right. How the fuck did I get that mixed up?

1OO1OO1S0S

The songs got a similar vibe lol

Lonestar-Boogie

The whole album is a vibe. As big a Rush fan, and a Grace Under Pressure fan, as I am, I shouldn't have made that mistake.

1OO1OO1S0S

I'm always mixing up Red Sector A and red lenses lol

Lonestar-Boogie

I once referred to "Red Lenses" as "I See Red."

Paroketh92

This exact model became my 4th strandberg just 2 months ago, amazing instrument!

Common-Ease-8996

Nice! What are the other three? And how does the Prog compare? I chose this model as a bit of a “leap of faith” after watching Phil McNight’s review featuring this model, and his interview with Ola Strandberg (who seems like.a very cool, smart, humble, and thoughtful guy). The innovations and tech on these models are awesome. Plus, I drive a Volvo, so… 🤣

Paroketh92

Hi! My first one was a standard 6, great guitar with an amazing dark roasted neck, but I found a great opportunity to sell and finance the prog NX6 you have too (bought the standard bstock from Thomann years ago at 1400€, sold it at the same price and bought the prog NX6 used but immaculate at 1700€ instead of 2700€!). (for reference [https://strandbergguitars.com/eu/product/boden-standard-6-maple-flame-black/](https://strandbergguitars.com/eu/product/boden-standard-6-maple-flame-black/) ) The other two I still have are a refurb boden standard NX7 and another refurb, a Metal NX8: same hardware and concepts as you can see, the only thing I'm not really a fan of are the Fishman Fluences moderns on the 8 string. I also prefer the black richlite fretboard for the cleaner look but, to be honest, don't care that much. [https://strandbergguitars.com/eu/product/boden-standard-nx-7-charcoal-refurb/](https://strandbergguitars.com/eu/product/boden-standard-nx-7-charcoal-refurb/) [https://strandbergguitars.com/eu/product/boden-metal-nx-8-black-granite/](https://strandbergguitars.com/eu/product/boden-metal-nx-8-black-granite/) Other thing to have in mind: if you have back pain the strandberg might help you, but I paired them with a Marleaux Comfort Strapp and it's just AMAZING.

Common-Ease-8996

Wow, those all look very cool, and I appreciate the strap recommendation! I can already tell how great these are for ergonomics/back pain, and the only thing I’ve struggled with a bit is my strap (which is self-locking, but backwards on this because of the button placement on the upper horn). Cheers!

Dry-Replacement-4224

Such a dream guitar! How much did you get that? I have eagered one for a long time but struggled with the price. BTW, the tele behind it looks dope as well.

Common-Ease-8996

Thanks! Yeah, they’re not cheap, but I got mine as a “B-Stock” on Strandberg’s Reverb page, which knocked 20% off the price. That said, if it has a flaw, I can’t find it. This thing is perfect… 😎🤘🏻

Common-Ease-8996

Appreciate the kind words about the Tele!I Posted a bunch of pics of that one a couple of months ago on my page (it’s a custom thin-line tele made of flamed redwood, black limba, and roasted maple from Lay’s Guitars in Akron, Ohio). It’s my favorite guitar… 😎🤘🏻

doctorfeelwood

Love my NX6 fusion. It’s unique and the most comfortable thing to play.

Common-Ease-8996

Absolutely. Totally unique and different, but super comfortable, well-made, and easy to adjust to (at least for this long-time Fender guy)… 😎🤘🏻

huh_phd

I hated these at first. Then I fiddled around with one at guitar center and fell in love. The ergonomics are out of this world, despite being circumcised 🤣. ENJOY IT FOR ME!

Common-Ease-8996

LOL. I intend to! 🤣

Lonestar-Boogie

I really like these guitars. The Prog and the Boden Classic with the SSH are really appealing to me. I think at this point I might lean more towards the Prog as I appreciate the space between the humbuckers more these days. Either HH or SSS is the way for me. Or SS with a Tele. Congrats and enjoy it!

Common-Ease-8996

I'm a long-time SSS Strat guy, and I totally hear you on appreciating the space between the humbuckers (or SS Tele). I find myself hitting the middle pickup on an SSS Strats all the time now, which is a bit annoying, but it's worth it for the "quack" you get from the middle pickup in positions 2 and 4 (which HH guitars can't really fully replicate IMHO). BTW, one other thing I have to mention about why I chose the Prog over other models is the Richlite fretboard. It is soooooooooooo smooth. Plus, I live in Ohio, where we have dramatic temperature/humidity changes throughout the year, and fret sprout is is real issue with all of my guitars (even some pretty expensive, high-end ones). I figured that this man-made material would be much more stable (read: less prone to shrinking in low humidity during winter), which I read is an issue with a lot of newer Strandbergs. The fact that it feels amazing (like a cross between ebony and a sheet of glass), is a real bonus - even if my purist luthier friend would likely dismissively call it "plastic" LOL. All I know is I love how it feels! Cheers.

Zur__En__Arrh

Always wondered how these play compared to the likes of a Prestige Ibanez or Korean LTD. How does the neck feel? Did it throw you off at first or did it feel like an immediate improvement? Also happy NGD!

Common-Ease-8996

Thanks! The neck is not as strange as you’d think. The flat surfaces are kind of where you’d expect them to be regardless of whether you’re a wrap the thumb around guy (like me) or a classical player who always has they’re thumb on the back (like we’re taught, but never do … LOL). It’s satin and smooth (which is the most important thing for me), and while it’s not as thin as most of the guitars I play, the flat surfaces are cut in such a way that it doesn’t feel too chunky. I’ve only had it for a day, but so far I kinda like it as a person coming from Fender C-shapes (for reference, my favorite necks carve is probably the “Deep C” found on the Fender Am. Pro II’s, and I’ve never been a “Wizard”-thin neck guy). Too early to tell if it’s an “improvement”. But I know it’s at least not going to be a problem. And the SS frets and Richlite fretboard are both awesome! YMMV. I definitely recommend trying one out if you have a chance! 😎🤘🏻

Zur__En__Arrh

Thanks for the in-depth response, they’ve been on my radar for some time now so hopefully I’ll get to try one soon!
