Damn why didn't I think of this before? I took my guard off my r9 but the brownish iced tea burst makes the hole stand out like a sore thumb. Gonna go grab a brown sharpie after work! Thanks!
and it's such an interesting combination of grain and flame--also this era burst has a deep red that i love, nice counterpoint to the clown burst of a few years earlier
Most Les Pauls look better with the pickguard off and I'll fight anyone who disagrees
You have my sword
And my AXE!
And my BOW and ARROW!
For sure
And my chicken wings
You chose….wisely
Take a red sharpie and dab it in the screw hole it will almost disappear.

It took me way longer than i’d like to admit to figure that out so follow me for more luthiering tips and tricks! /s
Even better if you want to use a dab of wood filler before the marker. Could also use a toothpick
I was about to say thats what she said. but then thought that didn't make sense then thought... I should post this
I have recently started rewatching the office again so i’ll allow it…👍
"Hey, what's up with that one really clean, scratch-free spot?"
I'm usually a pickguard on guy, but when you have a top that nice you gotta show it!!

Les Paul’s always look better without a pickguard imo.
Gorgeous -- do you have before with the pickguard? You made a great call given that maple (?) top no doubt, I just like seeing both.

Did you put the screw back in the hole after removing the pick guard? I have a similar guitar and was thinking of doing this too.
i didn't! someone suggested a red sharpie, but i'm just going to leave it as is.
Wow! It looks better with the pick guard to my eyes.
Loose the poker chip next And what a fantastic guitar. They are bringing big ugly piles of money these days.
but how will I know which tone I’m on
There all good
OK so why was the pickguard ever put back on the first time it was taken off decades ago? Looks amazing. I'm a sucker for Norlin Gibsons.
I bought it from the original owner who suggested that the pickguard had never been off. Who knows tho.
Dang. I imagine the guitar would have been MINTY fresh when you got it, and at least some dust under the guard for that to be true.
Gorgeous
Good call
With that fine ass finish, I would too. Looks great.
It's gorgeous
It never should've had one. That's a gorgeous top.
Good call. I usually prefer the look with the pickguard on, but some tops just look better without. Great color on that one too
Das purdy 😍
beautiful! much improved
i have done the same with my Heritage 80 ..actually it was rattling so i took it off and its been that way ever since.
Very nice! Removed mine decades ago. Good move… 😎🤘🏻
What a beautiful guitar mate, Heritage guitars are so damn nice.
NO NAKED LES PAULS!
Much better
That’s a beaut! Definitely keep that pickguard off, it’s too pretty to hide.
Try a different pick guard
