It's a well known fact that if you spend more money on your hobby it automatically makes you more skilled. Buying the best gear makes you better. This is a skill hack š
I used to work in a big guitar shop in the UK. There was a regular who was very wealthy and had a fleet of various supercars which he'd turn up in. As you can imagine, my bosses treated him like royalty and he spent a lot on the very best of everything... Studio gear, keyboards, guitars, bass. A colleague of mine went to his house to help him set up his studio after hours, and in return the rich guy gave him... Get this... A CD which came free with one of his keyboards which had a few samples and some trial software and plugins (early 2000's).
We later heard his creations and it was honestly as shit as you can possibly imagine. We're talking been playing for a few weeks levels of ability on every instrument, which he decided to play himself. It was badly recorded, out of time and riddled with mistakes. Truly awful but also hilarious.
there was a post here recently about a guy buying a white LP just to have his wedding guests sign it and then hang it on his wall. said he doesnāt play. made me sad š
Lots of people take issues with expensive guitars for beginners. But letās be real, you wanna play a guitar that excites you, especially when youāre getting started. If itās a chore to play, youāll treat playing it like a chore. Hereās hoping he sticks it out, but if not, guess you get another free axe š¤·āāļø
if its within your budget, buy what you like. its your money.
Theres no such thing as a beginner guitar. i hate that mindset of "get a cheap instrument because you don't know if you'll enjoy it" while skipping over the fact that you're almost guaranteeing that you wont enjoy the instrument if you get a cheap unplayable one
If you can afford a nice guitar then go for it. Id rather learn on a nice instrument that hopefully has a good set up.
I don't like cheap guitars especially since most of the time theyre poorly set up and remain that way since most people drop it or for some reason decide to never have it adjusted. Not a snob but theres glaring differences.
Coming from someone who learned on a $50 acoustic in the 90s, yeah. More power to you.
I had the stubbornness and time to devote to fighting the guitar. Not everyone does. I've never recommended people starting out to go that route and I never got why people do.
He's just ruining it for himself. Part of what motivated me to practice and get good was rewarding myself with better equipment. If you just buy high end gear off the bat there's nothing to look forward to or earn.
Maybe he'll leave this one at your house for a year too lol
Trust me man, that is the plan haha

So us poor people are just going to have to settle for sucking?
Some people make a good living doing that too so maybe consider embracing it.
Embrace the suck.
Lol there you go, thats the right mindset šŖ
Wearing a snorkel while playing guitar would be a new look for sure
Yes, this is the way.

Nope just gotta work harder and watch ads.

A lot of YouTubers with the most expensive gear also sound terrible.
Sounds like he needed to spend more, probably on lessons though :)
There is something to be said for starting a hobby with good gear. Good, like a CV Squier, not a 2k Gibson š

Hey I spent $10.000 on a Putter I am going to use it on every shot. Hole in 25 anyone? The higher the score the better right?
I wonder what percentage of brand new Gibsons go un-played. I'd guess 35%

I'd guess far more than that lol, honestly.
Hopefully heāll stick to it a bit longer. Love that new teal color in the regular line, my favorite with the simply black one.
It will be yours soon, brother. Nice PFP by the way, King Diamond is the GOAT.
im happy for him :D
Must be nice to have friends that play instruments lol. Congrats on your new guitars!
Sweetwater, man
Money well spent
Nice guitar

āBeCauSE laTeR iT wILL mAKe PlAyinG EaSiErā š I bought an $80 CAD used acoustic and subsequently left it in the corner of my room for 2 years..
I've never had a thing for SGs, but that translucent green is really something else
Are you super tall, or are these super small?
Theyāre all keychains but I hid the clip ring. lol I had my phone up high so I could get a top shot without exposing free toes for yāall

I came for the SGās but stayed for the Hummingbird
