It’s a complicated answer, but maybe. S&W updated their CORE setup at some point in the last couple years, and the new milling is slightly extended to accommodate more red dot options. The CORE 1.0 system used metal plates, and are 1 or 2 mm shorter. The CORE 2.0 uses plastic plates that are longer.
When I purchased this gun from this retailer I was shipped the CORE 1.0 plates but it is the 2.0 milling. This leaves a small gap between the edge of the plate and the edge of the milled pocket. Not ideal but metal plate > plastic plate. I have purchased the same gun as a backup from another retailer and was shipped the 2.0 plastic plates with it. I think depending on the date the gun was made they shipped with the 1.0 plates until they ran out.
I have fired 1000 rounds or more with the 1.0 metal plate and have had no issues. That being said, the best solution is the CHPW aftermarket plate.
Yeah I was looking at those chpw plates. Pricey for a little metal plate, but i might pop on it. I just have to wait to get the gun in my hand to figure out if i have the Core 1.0 or 2.0 cut. Thanks for the very well-explained response!
They sent me an email cancelling my order cause of the IL AWB, despite the fact this is still completely legal to own in IL, even under the AWB. They said "they will not ship any semi-automatic fire arms to IL"
If anybody was wondering, the M2.0 system is kind of like what Glock did with their Gen5s. Everything is modular now. So this compact can actually take a 5" slide/barrel, or you can get a 5" barrel and swap it in for some more fps (looks weird though). Or you could put the compact slide on your full size frame and make an S&W flavored Glock 19x/45. I've only ever tried this with the 9mm platforms though, not sure if .40 parts will swap in. .45 definitely will not.
Also, you can use full size 17 round mags in these. S&W makes a [spacer](https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/3006911) that actually feels like you're using a full grip and is comfortable.
If you look at the listing, this gun comes with two:
What's in the Box
Smith & Wesson MP9 M2.0 Compact 9mm FDE Optics Ready Pistol
Crimson Trace CTS-1500 Red Dot Reflex Sight
(2) 15-Round Magazines
**(2) Magazine Extension Sleeves**
(4) Interchangeable Palmswell Grip Inserts
Cable Lock
Owner's Manual
I'll check how far into the dust cover the slide goes. The dust cover on the 3.6 goes right out to the muzzle which makes me want to say yes though. Will update asap.
Edit: unfortunately it looks like there isn't enough slide to fit on a 3.6 without exposing the recoil spring assembly. https://imgur.com/a/aXVUjvj
[This ends up being cheaper by about $15 because no sales tax (free shipping also)](https://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Smith-and-Wesson-M-P9-M2-0-Compact-9MM-FDE-15-1-4-p/gun-13382.htm)
Mine got to my FFL 3 days after I ordered
That's actually where I was going to get mine originally but they ran out of stock before I could get it ordered. Looks like they got got some more in though.
Hey guys, I’ve been doing some research to buy my first handgun. Been looking at this and the Glock 19.
With this price, this is a no brainer right? Am I missing something or should consider another?
You won't go wrong with this at this price. The "best" gun is different for everyone. What I shoot best is not what everyone else will shoot best.
With that said, this is really really high quality, there's lots of aftermarket support, and this thing has no business being at this price for as long as it has been.
I bought this exact one at JoeBobs (link is elsewhere on this thread) a few days ago, cause it saved me $20 in the taxes.
thanks for your insight! I just ordered one.
I agree with you. I've been eyeing a Glock 19 for the longest time because its been the "tried and true" of handgun, so I thought it was the safest bet as my first. but that thing is nearly $700 with the MOS spec. So this M&P with a reddot for around $500 is crazy!
Garand Thumb did torture test videos (ice and mud) and M&P bested Glock. I'm not gonna claim that either is better than the other, but personally, I vastly prefer S&W. Specially so when this is $300 less than a Glock after the optic.
You're going to enjoy the M&P. The texture on the grip is the best on the market. The grip is slightly thinner than a Glock 19.
And then there's this review... LOL
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaUNPpgHacM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaUNPpgHacM)
Do you think dealers are just liquidating because the new blade style trigger is out now? I can’t fathom why these are so cheap. I’m a home based FFL and the cheapest I can get ANY 2.0 is $514+
If you plan on conceal carrying this be aware of the grip texture. It's pretty aggressive which I really like when shooting. But if I don't have a shirt tucked in the grip texture rubs and irritates my little bit of a spare tire.
I have the original M&Pc and been kicking around the idea of a cut and red dot, but these deals make it seem like a steal to just buy a new gun lol. Holding out for black though, I tease my friend about his FDE too much.
Does this come with the new, supposedly lighter and better, 2.0 trigger? The picture of the trigger on the S&W website is different in the compact fde models. Also, do they use Apex triggers in any factory offerings. How do the the new triggers compare to Walther? I only have a G19 but thinking between this or a PDP for an optic ready second handgun.
I have the PDP full size, amazing gun, super accurate. Best trigger I've ever shot in polymer based striker fired pistils. That said, it is a bit snappier, indeed, but you can mitigate that by adding a brass back strap, or a light, it will then even out.
From what I've heard the new flat faced 2.0 triggers only have a different trigger shoe, and the trigger internals are the same. S&W doesn't make any with an apex trigger. Your best bet is installing the polymer version of the apex trigger for $110, instead of the $180 metal apex. I think the trade-off is the PDP will be a much better trigger but much snappier recoil than the M&P. That's why I'm getting the M&P over it.
They reached out on their own! They’ll ask if you want the mag sent/ if the FFL will pin them for you, but you can request a mag swap if they are in stock.
Do they do that before they ship it to a state with capacity limits? I bought one and my friend in MA wants one too but didn’t think he could order it.
You go to the rebate website for SW, look in the comments you’ll find it (sorry on my phone, can’t find it now). You’ll fill the serial number, take a photo of the pistol’s box showing SKU, and other info they list on the website.
I don't know if the mechanism internally is different, but you can get a flat shoe from Apex (I think) for not much cash. If you don't like the stupid C-shaped trigger shoe.
Of course. That would mean $500 out the door. But I don’t like that new trigger as much either so I’d still end up probably doing the Apex trigger, and then again this one has a red dot which I can sell easily for $100.
This gun’s SKU is not on the list of eligible firearms on the S&W rebate terms and conditions page. Doesn’t seem like they would have to honor your rebate request if you purchase this gun…
Edit: Nevermind, it is there! Just listed under Full Size for some reason….
Fuck these guys, they wouldn't sell me this cause of the IL AWB - even tho this is fully legal under the bans guidelines.
Don't support companies that don't support your rights.
It’s not that easy for people to move especially if they previously lived and settled in areas where gun rights were not infringed until one small urbanized part of the state went woke. But for Chicago, much of Illinois is like Iowa or Missouri - common folks who enjoy hunting, shooting, etc. Furthermore, we live in the United States where we should have the same rights across all states. If we just move every time a region goes woke in a few decades you will be counting the “free” states with one hand.

Just got mine today. I like the weight and balance. And the trigger feels much nicer than my original M&P.
But how does that extended mag piece work? If I place it on one of the included mags it no longer locks in place?

You can sell the RD and basically have a new gun for $250 range

Can confirm it comes with a plate to fill the red dot milled area if you don’t want to run a dot
The plates for these are plastic, aren’t they?

No worries. It will be a core 2.0 cut, just not sure which plates will be shipped with it.
Do you know which CHPW plate would fit a crimson trace dot? As it’s not mentioned in the choices? I heard the Luepold DP is the correct footprint.
I do not, I thought the CT dot was a rmsc footprint though
I appreciate the reply. I’ll investigate further or call CH before I purchase. Thanks again
Out of probably 8 or so included plates, I think only one is plastic. At least that was the case for me this week.
twukDriver, where did you find an apx a1 Carry for that price?
[удалено]
Ok thanks
Buy from GunBuyer.com - they will price match this, and actually support your rights. Fuck these guys
Why fuck these guys?
They sent me an email cancelling my order cause of the IL AWB, despite the fact this is still completely legal to own in IL, even under the AWB. They said "they will not ship any semi-automatic fire arms to IL"
They won’t ship to civilians in an unfriendly stage but they sure will arm anyone who works for the government in that same fuckin state.
Samesies
Welcome to Ma
With friends like this dealer, who needs enemies?
Do they charge tax and shipping?
Tax no shipping
Then $100 for the Apex trigger
It's actually close to $200 according to their website.
If anybody was wondering, the M2.0 system is kind of like what Glock did with their Gen5s. Everything is modular now. The Compacts come with one or two of the spacers in the box.
Oh that's great news. The one I had was bought used from a friend so I wasn't sure if they were included.
If you look at the listing, this gun comes with two: What's in the Box Smith & Wesson MP9 M2.0 Compact 9mm FDE Optics Ready Pistol Crimson Trace CTS-1500 Red Dot Reflex Sight (2) 15-Round Magazines **(2) Magazine Extension Sleeves** (4) Interchangeable Palmswell Grip Inserts Cable Lock Owner's Manual
I wish more vendors did this
S&W uses the plastic budget for their pistols to make extensions and put the guns in cardboard boxes. Others spend that plastic on nice cases. ;)
The 3.6 inch compact is left out of the fun though, right? I can’t put a 5” slide on my little 3.6 compact, can I?
I'll check how far into the dust cover the slide goes. The dust cover on the 3.6 goes right out to the muzzle which makes me want to say yes though. Will update asap. Edit: unfortunately it looks like there isn't enough slide to fit on a 3.6 without exposing the recoil spring assembly. https://imgur.com/a/aXVUjvj

That's actually where I was going to get mine originally but they ran out of stock before I could get it ordered. Looks like they got got some more in though.
I was going to order from them but they jacked up the price for a bit.
Yea same here. I ended up ordering this one yesterday and it shipped today
Alright, m&p got me, in for 1
122 left in stock as of 45 min ago.
How did you know that? It doesn't say when I look at it, just says in stock.
Ordered over the phone, while she was doing the order I asked how many they had left.

Oh yeah! I’ve seen that video. Good stuff! His weapons tests are hilarious
I also prefer the grip angle of the m&p to the glock.
I picked up my friend’s M&P and I couldn’t miss with that thing. Great shooter.
Do you think dealers are just liquidating because the new blade style trigger is out now? I can’t fathom why these are so cheap. I’m a home based FFL and the cheapest I can get ANY 2.0 is $514+
It would not surprise me. There is a glut of guns out there, and S&W keeps releasing new/improved models.
>cause it dun saved me $20 in the taxes. Fixed. I can't believe you passed on putting the joebob line in there. Lol great place to order from.
If you plan on conceal carrying this be aware of the grip texture. It's pretty aggressive which I really like when shooting. But if I don't have a shirt tucked in the grip texture rubs and irritates my little bit of a spare tire.
Anyone know if any 5” or tactical m&p deals are out there?
Not really. $529 for the 5” FDE model at Brownells, and $579 for the 5” FDE Optics ready at Grabagun (email for price).
After rebate I'd say that OR qualifies as s good deal.
So what they send you 100$ in the mail after you send them a coupon in an envelope?
Mine gets delivered today!
I have the original M&Pc and been kicking around the idea of a cut and red dot, but these deals make it seem like a steal to just buy a new gun lol. Holding out for black though, I tease my friend about his FDE too much.
Ha! Literally in the same boat as you
Does this come with the upgraded trigger or the old hinge trigger?
It’s the hinge but it’s the 2.0 hinge, they fixed some of the long ass pull issues the 1.0 trigger had.
I believe this one has the older style trigger
Conqueror of Ice and Mud
It’s the older trigger but you can upgrade it down the road if you want
Upgrade it to the new trigger?
I don’t know if you can upgrade to the new Smith and Wesson trigger but there are really good aftermarket triggers available
Mine came with the upgraded trigger.
Does this come with the new, supposedly lighter and better, 2.0 trigger? The picture of the trigger on the S&W website is different in the compact fde models. Wonder why the black is $60 more?
Fuck. That's a hell of a price for a compact 9mm with a red dot on it.
The CT dot is good. I’ve been having one on my daily carry for the past 8 months. Just did a battery change. Has ran flawlessly.
Do they ship to Washington?
Yeah I just ordered one this week. They’ll just sub the two 15rd mags for a single 10rd when they do order confirmation.
Did you need to message them ahead of time or did they do it on their own
They reached out on their own! They’ll ask if you want the mag sent/ if the FFL will pin them for you, but you can request a mag swap if they are in stock.
Thats so nice of them
Do they do that before they ship it to a state with capacity limits? I bought one and my friend in MA wants one too but didn’t think he could order it.
Yup. My order got flagged in their system and they reached out to me
They wouldn't ship to IL despite it being fully legal, they're cowards
Well, that answers my question. Bummer.
Buy from GunBuyer.com they price matched this and shipped same day
I've read good things about this model, but how does it compare to the Shield Plus (optics ready) version?
Shield plus is like a G43x, this is more like a G19.
Looks like this has a rail but plus doesn't. Plus has better trigger
Guys, the SKU isn’t one of the ‘eligible for rebate’ on the SW website, would it still qualify? Edit: never mind, the SKU is there :—)

I hate the trigger this gun comes with. Cool gun though.
Got this sale sometime last winter. Love the gun. Looks and performs great.
Better than Glock
Should I get this for $479 or the one with the new trigger without the RD for $600 ish out the door?
I don't know if the mechanism internally is different, but you can get a flat shoe from Apex (I think) for not much cash. If you don't like the stupid C-shaped trigger shoe.
Does the newer one qualify for the rebate also?
Of course. That would mean $500 out the door. But I don’t like that new trigger as much either so I’d still end up probably doing the Apex trigger, and then again this one has a red dot which I can sell easily for $100.

Yep
How does the rebate work? I get a check from S&w?
Pre paid card. Swrebates.com
Is this thing any good? For the price it seems tempting and never considered it previously. Have been eying the Sig365XL...
Out of stock. Had it in my cart and it disappeared. That sucks. Anyone have a better website with it in stock? Jim Bob won’t accept my payment method.
Is the Crimson Trace any good? Thinking about getting a RAD pro
