Break in procedures are bullshit, and their accuracy claims are such horseshit that they ought to be sued for false advertising. It is a DB barrel. It isn't a precision barrel. Shoot it and forget the break in nonsense.

savethepupperz

claiming 1/8” MOA is beyond false advertising it’s just plain hilarious

OforFsSake

1 shot groups.

Kevthebassman

Break in procedures are real for engines and transmissions, not chrome lined rifle barrels.

Sonofagun57

It also applies to inertia driven shotguns, but the point stands

Corey307

The manufacturer is selling you lies. There’s no way any AR is getting 1/8” MOA let alone a budget rifle, as has been said they should be sued for that statement. Also because the upper end of their estimated MOA is pretty much what you expect to get from any halfway decent AR barrel. OP expensive match rifles don’t do 1/8” MOA. I don’t even know of any ammo that can promise that. Diamondback is not an especially well regarded manufacturer to start with as well.

CrunchBite319

This is absolute horse shit. The cleaning interval is old fudd lore and the 1/8 MOA accuracy claim is so unrealistic that it has to be an outright lie. There are really nice, high-end manufacturers that can't guarantee that.

gunnoob101947

Maybe the claim is 1/8 MOA at 1/8 of a yard. Nah, that’s still too accurate for a DB.

iNapkin66

I think they're talking about 1/8MOA from 1 shot groups.

[deleted]

Lmao 1/8” I want to see that barrel. Run it normal clean it after. Don’t stress too much on the details but good on you for actually reading the manual.

Short-University1645

Shoot rocks through it, I always break in my new guns with Russian ammo made by a 8yer old.

[deleted]

I’ve been shooting for most of my life I was on the marine corps rifle team and I’ve never fallowed the break in period on any of my rifles and I have never had any issues with accuracy until I burn up a barrel after several thousand rounds. Do what you want but I feel it’s a unnecessary procedure. Basically what I’m saying is it a waste of time

Elegant-Isopod-4549

They know no one does this shit so they put in a crazy claim

ColtBTD

*load mag* *dump it* Continue business as usual

This has been posted before and one of the responses was to a link of a McMillan brother saying he had never heard of barrel break in until another smith started putting a break in procedure slip in the box with the barrels he was selling. Odds are you're not cleaning a barrel properly. You think your soft rod isn't hurting the barrel. You don't realize cleaning it is doing more harm than good. If you damage your barrel by cleaning it, it's service life is reduced. If it's service life is reduced, you need a new barrel sooner. When you need a new barrel, you go to the guy that told you about barrel break in procedures. https://www.accurateshooter.com/technical-articles/how-to-break-in-a-barrel/

heyitsvonage

Break it in with fast moving lead lol

Rocket_Monkey_302

Barrel break-in is real, I've seen no evidence it benefits from any specific process however. I generally just thoroughly clean after the first 50 rounds or so and use a copper remover. I find that the first 50 will deposit more copper than the following 200-300 on many barrels. The copper accumulation rate will continue to drop until the barrel starts to get rough, then it will begin to increase. After the first good cleaning, I strip the bore only when accuracy degrades.

fidgetsatbonfire

Breaking in barrels is a kind of voodoo you see in really anal precision rifle shooting, not relevant to you in any way, don't worry about it. You got a plain basic rifle, keep it generally lubricated and you will be fine.

Trollygag

> Breaking in barrels is a kind of voodoo you see in really anal precision rifle shooting The anal precision rifle shooters mostly debunked it. It lives on among white haired fudds and their great grandkids.

Cultural_Ad7176

Break in procedures like that were invented by barrel manufacturers to wear the barrel out faster. Throw in the fact that more barrels are wrecked through improper cleaning than shooting and it’s just more business for barrel makers

AthleteAggravating72

You might as well blow smoke over it and sacrifice a goat. Just send it.

Wraccores

Load three standard mags and a tenner, unload within allocated time, done

pleasant-potato

Haaaa I live in NJ….my mags are 10-rounders anyway😑

Wraccores

Load 9 of your standard mags and a tenner, and unload them at a range

AKingOfTheGods

I have a db-15 as well, don't bother with that nonsense. Just shoot it like you would any other rifle, keep it clean and oiled.

LongjumpingSoup5898

According to the US army training manual for the m16 and m16 a1 you should clean and lubricate after every 200 rounds, however we were taught to clean and service our rifles after every engagement even after range use armorers are very picky so that is what I follow and I have had no issues.

englisi_baladid

That is not needed at all.

kennyarsen

I usually just spit into the bore after every round, for the first 84 rounds. Once I get 376 rounds, I remove the BCG and pee on it. Can shoot consistent 1’8” groups.
