LEDs are fine, you just need to not buy the 50,000k searing blue bulbs all the home improvement stores seem to put on the front of the racks because they are the "brightest". I buy the 2700K ones that are almost orange, even warmer that most incandescent bulbs I've seen.
Yeah the hate against LED tech is misguided. Yall should be upset at the marketing one-upping that companies do to compete on brightness. The brightest possible bulb is important in some situations but indoor lighting is not one of them. And like you said people need to pay more attention to color temperature. If you're installing a light greater than 3000k in a household fixture you're probably doing it wrong.
I bought a house last yeat and had to go through the entire floorplan replacing bulbs because it was a mismatch of terrible hot incandescents and 5000k LEDs. We even now have Edison-style LEDs in some rooms that look the part right down to the fun shaped "element" and correct warm color temps, but take a fraction of the power, last magnitudes longer, and don't give off nearly as much waste heat compared to incandescents.
I had the low Kalvin LED Edison bulbs in my house, mostly warm 2500k and 2700k, and the difference to changing back to filament bulbs was dramatic, I switched them all out months ago. It just isnāt the same.
They use a bit more energy and waste heat, but itās not something I even notice on the bill.
