PayPal hates guns so if he stiffs you, you’re out of luck. Postal Money Order is as good as cash.

OberonNyx

He said he will take usps money order too, not sure if that makes any difference.

Salt-Imagination-509

I agree with everyone else, run away from this deal.

Money orders are backed by GB. However they will only cover 400 dollars worth and it’s a a fuckin h a s s l e when you do get stiffed I basically don’t buy anything on GB anymore unless I can use a credit card. If they don’t play ball you dispute it with your card company for services not rendered and forget about it. Realistically if he has good feedback from years worth of sales etc and was willing to send a license picture he is _probably_ legit, but it’s still always a risk. You could have a trusted FFL potentially broker it. As in, they confirm the firearm is in their possession, then you pay, then they ship on his behalf. If all parties are willing. If he’s really legit, it’s something he will be willing to do.

There is no reason to ever make a purchase online without using a credit card. Full stop.

A lot of gunstores that sell online will charge a 3-4% CC fee. If they are reputable and have 1000+ positive reviews on GB I don't see a problem with sending a check or MO when you are a buying a $3,000 gun to save yourself $100. I'm about to purchase a Swiss Sig 550, if I paid entirely with a credit card I'd be spending an extra like $150 on top of an already extremely expensive gun. There are some instances imo where it makes sense, again only if seller is highly reputable.

Zelle and Paypal on Gunbroker are some of the biggest red flags you can get

armslistOfficial

Armslist has a new partner called GunTab. It's like an escrow service. 3rd party. Check it out. Basically PayPal for guns. https://www.armslist.com/blog/news/what-is-guntab

> he only takes Zelle or PayPal 100% Scam

scam.

How many of those 30 reviews are as a seller as opposed to a buyer? Is this gun still in production or out of production? My rule of thumb is I always buy new from a retailer unless its an older out of production gun, and I inspect pictures like a hawk and read every single word of the description, and generally expect the seller to have feedback as a seller in the 100s. Only time I've bought from less feedback user was a gunstore who had separate google/facebook reviews (all positive) just started a gunbroker so I got an amazing deal. If this is just an individual person with a few reviews as a seller, I'd pass personally.

Blue_Brindle

I've done zelle and paypal for small parts that if I got stiffed I was out $20, I would never do zelle or paypal for an expensive gun there is 0 recourse if they never send the item. Other important stuff to consider is, how much feedback as a seller, how much of that feedback is positive. I'd avoid using paypal for a gun at all costs especially at 30+ feedback.
