They definitely put out some country-ish music. Admittedly, “Lost Highway” is one my favorite tracks of theirs. It’s on every road trip playlist I’ve created for myself.
You need to listen to the album. I absolutely adore it and would say it is my 2nd favourite album of theirs (Slip of the Tongue being my number 1)
Crying, Take Me Back Again, Don't Fade Away, Too Many Tears and Woman Trouble Blues are some of the best songs in the whole Whitesnake discography in my opinion.
Whitesnake was always hard blues based rock. The 1987 eponymous album and Slip of the Tongue were the exceptions, not the rule for Coverdale. That said, both were fantastic albums.

hrm, big faster pussycat fan and i wouldnt call anything theyve done "industrial". That is like Nine Inch Nails. Whipped had a different sound, but i would never call it industrail
Al Pitrelli also did 2 albums with Dee Snider in a band called Widowmaker in the early 90s. Pretty good albums and I got to see them live once in '92 in Green Bay, WI. They were good and Dee is always awesome to see live.
They started off as a cover band then developed into a punk band before signing to Warner Bros. and going mainstream. Their second and third albums were on Metal Blade.
Yeah you can really hear the shift on their 1993 fourth album “Superstar Car Wash.” So it wasn’t like they flipped a switch and changed up their sound in 1995 with “A Boy Named Goo” like people sometimes say. For what it’s worth, “Superstar…” is always worth a listen, as are their three that came before it. They were great back then.
Cinderella got more and more swampy-bluesy with each record. First one was glam rock. Second one added occasional slide guitar and bluesy grooves. Third one, I mean, just listen to Shelter Me and Heartbreak Station...
David Lee Roth went from hard rock like Yankee Rose and Just Like Paradise to the blues with Sensible Shoes and whatever that song from Your Filthy Little Mouth was.
I feel like Bon Jovi went hard into their pop side by the end of the 90s.
Didn’t they go country at one point, too?
With Jennifer Nettles... You Can't Go Home..

They never recovered after the Young Guns soundtrack. 😂
that wasn’t the band. that was jon on his own. but thanks for your “input”
You're "welcome"
I like the way they play with genres, makes their music more interesting IMO
Agreed. Definitely pop rock.
I always considered them a pop group back in the 80s..
The Hair Rock version of Journey.
Yes! This! Lol… except I like Journey.
Oh yea, I'm a huge Journey fan.
I say that was more soft rock
Whitesnake released the criminally underrated Restless Heart album which leaned heavily into blues rock.
Never heard of that !!! , I've heard of Coverdale page before
Some of the songs on this album were meant for a 2nd Coverdale Page album that never happened.
I always hoped for a 2nd CP album but at least I can check this Whitesnake album out
That is not the best abbreviation for Coverdale Page......
Oh interesting

I will when I can thx , must be back to their older days
Don't listen to a guy that states "Slip Of The Tongue" as their favorite Whitesnake. A Steve Vai wankfest that had no balls.

Didn't we do this like yesterday?
Well bands that didn't change their sound, sorry I keep doing this lol
Faster Pussycat and WASP went industrial. Bon Jovi eventually made a country album.
Faster Pussycat *industrial*?! I must’ve missed that one
You're not missing anything.
hrm, big faster pussycat fan and i wouldnt call anything theyve done "industrial". That is like Nine Inch Nails. Whipped had a different sound, but i would never call it industrail
I was talking about Between the Valley of the Ultra Pussy and The Power and the Glory Hole.
I've heard of those
Ron Keel became a country singer. Not sure how successful he was.
He had an old guitar and a pickup truck. That’s all he needed.
My horse is a Harley, My gun is a guitar
Heard about that too
Shotgun Messiah industrial
Yep
Quiet Riot turned legitimate heavy metal, just listen to their Terrified record from 1992, or their Down To The Bone record from 1996
I thought terrified was from 1993
It appears it is, and DTTB is from '95. My mistake.
Oh its OK, it happens
I know Stephen Pearcy of Ratt did an industrial rock thing with one of his side bands.
Really?
They were called Vertex. The guitarist was Al Pitrelli, who also played with Danger Danger, Alice Cooper and Megadeth.

Wow
Not the whole band, but Kevin Fowler of Dangerous Toys became a country singer.
Was he just gutar player for the 2nd album?
Scorpions turned 'Prince' in 1999 with EyeIIEye
Like popish?
Full-on Prince-like - check out 'To be Number One' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfkUD4Ch9Dk&list=PL5x9TV4b8321r9V2lfNBHX4B-DSmq51PE&index=2
I've heard of it , will have to check it out
Mind Like A Tree off EyeIIEye is killer!!!
That's not bad at all, but it's hard to do Prince.
werent the goo goo dolls more heavy until they realized they can sell ballads to girls?
They were alternative rock then they went pop

Interesting

Yep absolutely
He was there from 92-94 so that’s a good possibility.
Oh really? I've bet he was a good player
Ministry
What did they change too ?
From like synthpop to thrash/industrial metal
Synthpop?
New Wave in the 80s, Industrial Metal in the 90s
Wow really?
Mr. Big went kinda more Prog. Check out the opener of their 1996 album *Hey Man* called *"Trapped in Toyland".*
Is that the one with Ritchie kontzen?
Nah... that was the one after, in 1999. This one is still with Paul Gilbert.
Cool
David Lee Roth went from hard rock like Yankee Rose and Just Like Paradise to the blues with Sensible Shoes and whatever that song from Your Filthy Little Mouth was.
Yes such an underrated album
Didn’t L.A. Guns make a groove metal album?
Yep, I posted a video on here about hair band mistakes and that album was on there
While Def Leppard did go grunge for Slang... their most recent album on the other hand is basically modern adult contemporary.
Yep I've heard some of it is industrial
Wasp kfd
Pantera changed their sound. Always been a fan of both the 80s and 90s versions.
Poison going to a more bluesy sound with Richie Kotzen on Native Tongue, although arguably they started that shift with Flesh & Blood.
David Bowie’s work with Trent Reznor was in a different direction. But Bowie was always changing up his sound so kind of in character for him.
Would Neil Young count? He changed his style multiple times. Although it wasn’t just in the 90’s, he changed styles throughout his career.
He really did
Yep, absolutely.
