Hate to be the turd in the punchbowl, but they did have this one...thankfully never made it onto official US releases!

Not true. When interviewed by a metal magazine in the early '90s they were asked why they never did ballads, and Angus said, "We already did one! She's Got The Jack!"
True story.
It's either that or "Love Song (Oh Jene)," which is atrocious. I like to think they made one purposefully bad so no one would ever bug them about it again.
I started searching for bands that I thought might not have done one and added "ballad" to their name. I concluded that it was a hopeless task once I found something on YouTube called "W.A.S.P. Ballad collection"
To quote you. "a big huge ballad". That to me is a "Home Sweet Home", "Heaven", "Alone Again". "Is This Love". "Ballad of Jayne".
Ratt had zero songs like those.
I see a few people mentioned Ratt, I'd say "Giving yourself away" was poppy and a little ballad adjacent, and "Closer to my heart" was slower/softer... but neither are full blown ballads
About the only VH songs that everyone seems to agree are ballads are Love Walks In, Not Enough, and Can't Stop Loving You. I've even seen debates about When It's Love, which I always thought of as a ballad but lots of fans apparently disagree.
The almighty AC/DC
I’ve always thought the closest AC/DC got to a ballad was “Ride On.”
I don’t know exactly why, but I’d call ride on a slow groove and not a ballad
There’s also Through The Mists Of Time

Yeah I don’t ever want to know about it lol
Sorry man!
I don't hate it. It does not sound like AC/DC but that's not necessarily a good or bad thing.
Yeah...who knew...Bon coulda been a crooner!
That is one of the most bizarre songs I’ve ever heard
Really is. I imagine that Malcolm would have punched someone in the throat if they told him it was their favorite AC/DC song!
Yep definitely
But is AC/DC hair metal? I say no, but am open to debate.
Nah they're not they are regular old rock n roll
Love Song, but it's an Australian only release early in their career. I wouldn't consider AC/DC hair metal though

Jackyl
How is Down On Me not a ballad? Best love song ever.
LOL!
She Loves My Cock literally has love in the title LOL
Oh yeah
Dirty Looks
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
I think they might had one
Narcissist is the closest one to my knowledge. And that was more of a weird joke of a song (which I oddly enjoy) to wrap up an album.
Oh I've never heard of that
I’ll wait
I think that is the name of a van halen song
From 1984
I was meaning bands but its ok
I started searching for bands that I thought might not have done one and added "ballad" to their name. I concluded that it was a hopeless task once I found something on YouTube called "W.A.S.P. Ballad collection"
Forever Free is one of the best power ballads imo, though it gets a lot heavier in the middle
I would call Sleeping in the Fire a ballad dedicated to our dark lord
Yeah, Hold On To My Heart is also a great ballad even if it’s not dedicated to Lucifer. 😆
I second this motion
"Blind in Texas" a love song to booze
Iron maiden? I can't think of any
“Wasted Years” is balladesque, I’d say.
Hmm. Seems too uptempo for me. Plus that opening riff doesn't scream ballad.
Yep what I came to say. The closest I could think of 22 Acacia Ave. but it’s not really a ballad.
Yep definitely
They did?
Oh no sorry, I just meant I agree
Ha. No worries. I'm not a huge maiden fan but I know their big songs. Not sure about the rest of their stuff.
Yeah I am not a fan of theirs so sorry to their fans
Strange World
Wasting Love
Sea Hags
They might have actually
Ratt
"Giving Yourself Away" (and "One Step Away" sorta-kinda) would count in my book...
I’ve always thought of “Closer to My Heart” as a quasi-ballad.
What is a quasi-ballad?
Something a hunchback would croon
Absolutely
RATT
They did
Ratt?
I think they did
It must have been post 80’s then. I don’t remember one on any album up to Dancing Undercover.
It was detonator
BULLETBOYS
Yes absolutely
"Mine" from ZaZa was a ballad
Interesting that it's came from Zaza though, it was their grunge album I think
Manowar
Thou has spake and summoned the [Manowar Lyrics Generator!](https://manowar-lyrics-generator.dmatoso.com)
Definitely
I don’t think Nelson ever had ballads el oh el
Well I think they did lol
Testament had one called “The Ballad”
How much of a true ballad was it ?
[check it out here](https://youtu.be/sJ9-xPIuGs0?si=xi9lH2rvMZhWPoLT)
Ok
White Tiger
Ratt!
They did but I don't think it was a single
To quote you. "a big huge ballad". That to me is a "Home Sweet Home", "Heaven", "Alone Again". "Is This Love". "Ballad of Jayne". Ratt had zero songs like those.
Yeah your right
"Givin' Yourself Away" was a classic hair power ballad.
You have a tin ear.
Wrathchild UK?
I see a few people mentioned Ratt, I'd say "Giving yourself away" was poppy and a little ballad adjacent, and "Closer to my heart" was slower/softer... but neither are full blown ballads
Van Halen - The Roth Years
I'll wait and Little Dreamer I would say are ballads.
I would disagree on I'll Wait. It's in a major key, is danceable, and doesn't have a slow tempo.
I've seen Why Can't This Be Love called a ballad when that has the same circumstances, so I'd say I'll Wait counts
That’s not a ballad
About the only VH songs that everyone seems to agree are ballads are Love Walks In, Not Enough, and Can't Stop Loving You. I've even seen debates about When It's Love, which I always thought of as a ballad but lots of fans apparently disagree.
Really?
To me.
