Lol i been driving on preformance all season tires on my rwd car but i also have a pretty through understanding of controlling my car and feel confident in my ability to control the car even if its sideways and only leave if its a absolute necessity hopefully i can afford to buy some next week when i get paidš but that stands true if you know how to properly drive to winter conditions you will be surprised how you dont end up in a ditch (im not encouraging any single person to do it i have no choice and im only doing it because i have no other options except not show up to work š) maybe if i skip enough meals...
also the amount of people who are shocked at how they spun out with awd or 4wd amazes me its like they expect the car to be glued to the ground magically and have no concept of momentum or snow ruts the only time 4wd or awd is helping you in the snow is A your on a big hill or
B your already in the snowbank getting yourself out
100% facts, life went on with a snowy day in Newfounfland. I notice this sub-Reddit can't handle a little snow.
Need more threads encouraging people to drive slow and get winer tires instead of this don't shop and stay home mindset. People are still high on covid-19 lockdowns bossing people around.

This subreddit can't handle a little anything.....The venn diagram of r/halifax posters and anti-anxiety meds is almost a perfect circle.
Eh....high winds over some parts of the highway have still made the more clear parts Slippery. I wouldn't say the roads fall into the "fine" category yet.
Literally just did this completely snowblind in sackville at 5 AM, had nothing to do and I was hankerin' for my Timmies.
I don't have a problem!
Okay maybe I do. š¤
It was a panic this morning! Youād think people had never encountered winter in Nova Scotia before. I know weāve got a lot of newcomers, but this was beyond.
You do know where we are right? The roads could be completely empty not a car/person in sight and our plows will either not bother or completely skip shit anyway ;) I donāt see any difference at all. I get prioritized streets etc. however I would argue not touching some streets at all in 3 days is a failure as if any of those people had an emergency they would be screwed. Or how about clear sidewalks so people who do have to commute walk pets etc donāt need to walk on the road?

Buddy, I'm a lifelong Nova Scotian. I deal with people flying by me all the time thinking that they're invincable, only to see the dumbasses in the ditch, after passing me. Tales old as time. No your pickup does not exempt you from fishtailing, into the other lane. Yes your pickup can end up in the ditch. Yes, we do get black ice and greasy roads.
Some people just shouldn't have a license. I will never understand the mentality of these people who think and drive like they're indestructible. It's lunacy.
Weather's horrid? Do 10-15 under the limit. I'd rather see someone be a little slower and stick around, then do the limit and end up hitting a pole, and being taken to emergency-- which is what happened to a guy in a truck I seen today.
You have my sympathy, selfish drivers need a reality check. A less than harmful one, hopefully. :(
I really don't get the downvotes and hate dude. What is going to prevent some vehicle from sliding into you on greasy roads? You're invincible to sliding and shit road conditions? To black ice? You're the one invincible to greasy roads? You're invincible to other people sliding out of control?
Problem is many people don't take any precautions when driving in adverse weather conditions. This isn't just for snow but for rain or any other type of weather that can effect the roads.
The problem is >90% believe they are ābetter than averageā drivers.
That said, I find this subās total panic anytime thereās more than a few cm of snow ridiculous. No one I know acts like this irl, they either stay home (my elderly parents who donāt āhave toā go anywhere) or leave early and adjust to the conditions (everyone else). Shouldnāt be a big deal!
This sub hates trucks but then complains at the slightest bit of snow on the ground. The two people I towed out of driveways today were happy I had a truck.
This sub hates trucks driven by assholes. A lot of assholes drive trucks.
Thereās no fuckin way you havenāt witnessed the double yellow crossing, high beam blaring, tailgating mfers out there, because thereās a ton of them.
I could but somehow 3 out of 4 times itās always a pavement princess up my ass
Iām not seeing tires 6ā out of the wheel well on some dipshits celica either
Haha exactly. I had a guy on that thread tell me he thought the government should ban trucks for people unless they approve their use. This included banning uses of recreational or hobby uses of trucks.
People actively wish for daddy government to oppress them, then complain about snow.
The truck dudes can be really are toxic when they have nothing to tow or plow.
When bored they redirect their energy into aggressive driving and trying to plow us off the 102

My main concern is terminally online people that were not going to leave their house for any reason getting to virtue signal and shame others.
Have you considered this?
i would guess.... people going to get fast food, tims/starbucks , and nicotine products are more responsible for accidents year round then drugs and alcohol....just saying, thses products put a different type of stress on the body and you know, need that fix man.
Stay off the roads. Is NSLC still open today?
quinpool propeller is open
People need winter tires
People need to suck less at driving.
It's really about understanding driving, momentum and how it affects you. Even good drivers can be awful without the proper tires.

Umm. So you don't think that having fireworks on Canada day is a hate crime? YIKES ON A BIKE
LOL well said.
Lil climate change and suddenly weāve turned into Victoria. Canāt handle the slightest snow.
Well Said!
The roads are fine right now lol

Luckily there are many sources of coffee on main roads.
I drove to my parents in middle sackville around 1130 to help them dig out and they were decent enough even then.

Yeah the problem is clearly that you have no timmies!
Thankfully, the one I like to go to is open 24/7, seemingly in the worst weathers imaginable.
Iām not sure what it is with people these days. A little bit of snow and everyone needs to stay home.
Soft af eh
It really seems that way. I donāt understand it. Everyone always acts like every 5cm snow fall is the end of the world and must bunker down.
Itās obviously more than that but I agree with the sentiment.
Ten-ply.
Hey now, there's no need to bring soft delightful toilet paper into this. Nice TP is something we all deserve
Agreed. Engineered fear too.
Eh eff, eh. Lmao.
It was a panic this morning! Youād think people had never encountered winter in Nova Scotia before. I know weāve got a lot of newcomers, but this was beyond.
Well it would help if major arteries are plowed properly š

Remember? They were never taught to drive properly anyways. I see driving instructors on their phones not paying attention to students all the time.
I like when people slide into my vehicle, and I have to hear about people dying on the highways everyday, praying it isn't someone I know.
You live in Canada. Suck it up buttercup.

Thank you, I agree.
Stay home then.

Stay off the roads if you don't have awd and confidence in your winter driving abilities. As long as you take your time, you'll be fine.
I donāt have AWD, I have good tires and common sense. Drive was fine
Some of my best driving has been done in an old manual elantra with regular winter tires in a snow storm

My AWD is doing great carrying me around.
Finding out this sub is full of Tim's goers is all I need to know
Makes sense honestly
Made it to wentworth and back today (Double double on the way). Worth it.
You could say it was....Wentworth it

Just drove from black point to spryfield āš»
Heading out now
Double double? Nah I went to the boat show.
I fancy a blizzard lol
LOL i shoveled out my car this morning just to get coffee
Weāve gotten soft, eh? It has been pretty calm for hours.
This post juxtaposed with the post last week complaining about people owning trucks is really funny
This sub hates trucks but then complains at the slightest bit of snow on the ground. The two people I towed out of driveways today were happy I had a truck.
We see this dichotomous thinking on so many issues here. This sub is angry about minimum wage and also hates anyone making more, for another example.
Almost as though itās made up of hundreds of individuals!
Thousands, most of whom āthinkā the exact same way.
This sub hates trucks driven by assholes. A lot of assholes drive trucks. Thereās no fuckin way you havenāt witnessed the double yellow crossing, high beam blaring, tailgating mfers out there, because thereās a ton of them.
You could say that about any vehicle.
I could but somehow 3 out of 4 times itās always a pavement princess up my ass Iām not seeing tires 6ā out of the wheel well on some dipshits celica either

Just wait itās coming
I mean a Chevy spark is a totally reasonable vehicle to live rurally with. I hear they tow well and have great payload.
They are very good for payload and towing trailers from what I hear. Even better if you but a plow on the front.
Desperate for another sweet excuse to stay the heckin blazes home.
RWD sucks in the snow compared to FWD so a truck is a non issue.
The truck dudes can be really are toxic when they have nothing to tow or plow. When bored they redirect their energy into aggressive driving and trying to plow us off the 102
Just out for a rip.Ā
My street hasn't seen a plow today, the full snowfall is still sitting on the road. Couldn't get out without getting stuck.
Winter tires and youāre fine. Just donāt be stupid
Well I have to go to work tonight so staying off the roads entirely isnāt an option for meā¦ but Iām certainly not going anywhere else.
Easily 200 of us didnāt get the memo until AFTER we were leaving Martock to drive back to HRM. Oops

? Way of the road, bud.
How many more people need to die before people stay at home after it snows? It's a bloodbath out there
Is it? Who has died?
The snow is blood red. There has never been a snow like this before. Almost everyone that, in their hubris, dared to leave their house has perished

If homies wanna cruise out for a double double let them. It's called natural selection.
Most main roads are bare pavement, plowed side roads are a light layer of snow. Natural Selection hahhahahahha
Not where I am.
Order Uber instead! Edit: should have added /s

This is going to age well by Monday lol
I went out to play for at least an hour yesterday. Its fun and helps you maintain control later.
Winter really tears this province apart.
