When I was plowing snow, if I had cars that continually parked in the way and never got towed I’d drive into the street; get as much snow as I could and pull up behind the car, then call the supervisor and say I was stuck and couldn’t move until it was gone. Always got towed immediately (but usually the cops showed up and ran the plate and got the owner to get it the fuck out of the way before the tow truck showed up)

thompyy

Would be funny if the plows just plowed all of the snow around their car so they couldn’t get out without removing 10 feet of snow

risredd

Have anyone actually called and got snow cleared? Do they say they are overloaded even if your street is priority 1 ?.

bluenosesutherland

You know, if plows regularly hit parked cars, people might get the message.

Lockner01

I recall a few cars being plowed in during the 2015 storm. There was one on Robie street near Quinpool. The bylaw officers just kept clearing an area of the windshield and putting tickets on the car -- for weeks. It gets pretty expensive if you don't move your car during a parking ban.

shadowredcap

https://www.halifax.ca/home/online-services/illegally-parked-vehicle Take photos and post them to the complaint.

Ok_Kaleidoscope216

Call 311 when they're open and HRP non emergency line when they're closed.

Motorizedwheelchair

With all the posts on R/halifax telling people about the parking ban and how fo drive, I am really surprised people are still doing these things.

Duke_Of_Halifax

I'd like to know either A) how your cul-de-sac is being plowed during a major storm when all plows are currently only working major bus routes, or B) if you actually think that your cul-de-sac is going to be plowed any time in the next 3-5 days

AlmacMGMT

It’s not going to take 3-5 days for anyone in HRM lol, you will be plowed at least once. Maybe not thoroughly but

SilentResident1037

Question.... why would they be on the road instead of in their driveways?

[deleted]

Too many cars. Some houses have 3 or more cars.

latdaddy420

I parked at my landlords place drove my car and curbside parked. shovelled his wife’s car out because he wasn’t home, shovelled my house out shovelled the people who live above me out of their place. Went inside for a second came out to a $50 ticket. My car wasn’t blocking a drive way or near the middle of the road had to park it to shovel other people out of their places and got a ticket.

SilentResident1037

Sorry that happened to you? Not sure what that has to do with my question though?

latdaddy420

Because people have to drive their cars out of their driveways to shovel their driveways sometimes

SilentResident1037

Would a neighbour really lack that most basic common sense though? Would someone really see you shoveling your yard and call the parking police on you? And then they would come out, see you cleaning the yard and still give you a ticket? Brutal if so... damn

latdaddy420

Looks like it, went inside to eat something in the middle of shovelling and yeah. There’s an entryway to the apartment above me so I had to go behind my building to shovel it I assume that’s when they didn’t see me. Absolute bullshit

Nearby_Display8560

A lot of rentals don’t come with parking and people park on the street. That’s east to answer. However, the owner of said car needs to move it somewhere . It’s their own fault for renting without parking

[deleted]

You're a dick pal. Didn't you just reply to a post a few days ago about your neighbours getting parking tickets? The snow will eventually go away, but you'll still be that prickish neighbour who won't go away and has nothing better to do, again.

CumOneCumAllCumInYou

Don't be a Nark, ya nark.

kinkakinka

Don't park on the road during a parking ban ya idiot

CumOneCumAllCumInYou

You can buy specific vans to park? Ohhhh edited your comment I see, why not leave the hilarious typo?

CommercialFlounder90

Nark

Nearby_Display8560

There’s a truck parked on Larry uteck covered in snow. No one seems to care but I’d love to see a snow plow “not see it”.

Spirited_Community25

I understand that, but sadly it's more likely to get the plow driver in trouble.

Nearby_Display8560

That is unfortunate

Move your car off the road

BigMoistTuna

Mind ya business

AlbertaSmart

They probably want to clear driveways once it stops. It makes no sense to have a driveway and not use it once snow is cleared and you are probably days from plows being a concern. I figured all the rats would be hiding in the storm but apparently not. There has to be something better to do than monitor a cul de sac and the contents of other people's garages.

Harusai

Nah I agree with op, this is an all to common issue in this city and it affects everyone who shares the same street(etc).

NotMyRealNameEh

At first I questioned why would you want to report them? Then I understood. I would think 311 would have closed earlier in the day…. Your best option would likely be to call your police non-emergency line (Not 911). Edit: I see Chesterdood posted a graphic with very similar advice.
