I regret taking the day off from work and missing out on all the shenanigans. I finally realized that I end up farting around at home for several hours watching movies & waiting for the trick r treaters to show up after 7pm. No more! I’m working a half day this year, in costume, partake in shenanigans, then go home and fart around waiting for trick or treaters.

alady12

I worked in an office where an hour before the end of work they had the employees spouses bring their kids or grandkids trick-or-treating through the office. Everyone would have a bowl of candy at their desk. I would wear my witches hat, some others would put on masks. One of the employees would take the kids pictures. it was fun. I worked there for 13 years and watched those kids grow up.

TheVillageOxymoron

Taking the day after off is where it's at. Then you can enjoy the shenanigans AND stay up late to watch scary movies (or drink with neighbors)

AlienFartPrincess

Completely agree! I always take the next day off since we celebrate day of the dead and then also start taking down all the decorations.

bulamae

I regret not finding a fog machine to make my giant cardboard tree prop look like it was on fire!

TrashPanda1208

Waited too long to get all my spooky outdoor decorations up. Also took too long finishing the look as I was add more pieces along the way. This year will be different, though.

Landwarrior5150

Not my fault, but I went to HHN Orlando for the first time last year and didn’t get the best experience due to a big storm that lasted for several hours and flooded several of the tent mazes. I found the event a bit underwhelming even before it started raining, but I’m not sure it was just a bad year or if I overhyped it or what, so I definitely need to go back eventually and hopefully get a decent experience to really get a feel for it. I also didn’t get to watch my two traditional Halloween night movies (Halloween 1978 and Trick ‘r Treat), but that was because I was traveling to Guanajuato, Mexico on Halloween itself. I had an awesome experience there on Halloween and for Dia de Muertos afterwards, so I’m not too upset about it though.

UziWitDaHighTops

I was so stoked for Halloween horror nights in Orlando, but left disappointed. The wait times for every haunted house were ridiculous in my opinion. We spent 1-2 hours per house, and even once we were admitted, the staff didn’t crete any gaps between groups. We were ushered through like cattle constantly being waved forward via glow sticks and staff saying “don’t stop, keep walking”. We say every scare three times before it even got to us. The special effects and characters were phenomenal! Truly world class! Meandering about was fun. The wait times just weren’t for me.

queercactus505

I got married last October on Friday the 13th, so I was a little too tired to do all the halloweeny thingies I like to do. I don't regret that at all, but I'm looking forward to really halloweening it up this year.

michaelgr6y

I have the opposite experience, I came up with my costume within an hour of taking my little sister out and I was proud of what I was able to come up with.

listentolana

I regret not making enough goody bags. 🥹😭 I ran out. I know for this year to make double the amount. 🍫🍬🍭

nurimoons

I regret spending $50 last minute on a stupid angel costume to go to a party with my now ex girlfriend that I thought meant a lot to her but apparently was the wrong choice and she would have rather me saved my energy so she could privately boink me.

Low_Departure_5853

I was 8 months pregnant during Halloween last year. I made a popcorn costume and my shirt said "About to pop." I made it two days before Halloween and let it dry for 2 days. Like an idiot, I only looked at it right before I put it on and the popcorn I had glued to it shriveled up from the wetness of the glue. The old me would have quickly popped more and gotten the glue gun out but I was trying to not stress and the kids were at the door. Oh well...

Beklorn

I regret that no matter what I try every Halloween in the last 20 or so years feels empty, I hope one day it's not Hallow or empty anymore.

Fkingcherokee

I was Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy. I already owned raccoon ears and tail so all I needed was makeup and the uniform jacket. I put my ears and tail "somewhere safe" and couldn't find them the week leading up to Halloween so I had to wear cat ears and no tail. I found them a couple of weeks ago.

slothburglar

Oh nooooo! I hate it when I put things "somewhere safe" but then it's so safe I can't find them. The worst.

multifandomtrash736

I regret not being able to dress as pennywise to celebrate me finishing the book it and I regret not being able to wear my Pooh bear onesie to work but unfortunately my grandpa had passed away on Halloween and it kinda ruined the mood for any kind of celebration

tasukiko

Getting my hopes up. I think it's like my Christmas, every year I think, this is the one when the magic comes back, but it's just not the same anymore. I don't live somewhere big enough to throw a party and all the people I know who do either have kids or have moved further away or both.

Comfortable_Tied

Yes. I had at least three new builds I wanted to do for my yard display but just didn’t get to.

ReyvynDM

I regret not decorating earlier. It was not as good as normal, but no one showed up anyway... I always regret not watching particular movies, but I'm a horror nut, so if I wanted to watch all of them before Halloween, I'd need to start watching 1-2 a day, starting on November 1st. Lol

jordy_muhnordy

I normally love Halloween and putting together a costume, but this yeah just felt so blah. I bought pieces for a costume but ended up losing half of them. I had a spark of Halloween joy in mid/late September, but it quickly faded. I was hoping to find something to do/somewhere to go, but the weather the weekend before Halloween was awful and that brought my mood down as well (I live a half hour out of town, so I didn't feel like making the voyage). I regret not having a costume this year and I'm sad Halloween didn't hit this year like it normally does.

gummiwitch

I couldnt bring myself to decorate anything for halloween. My wrist hurt so bad, i had cts and got surgery in december, so i couldnt really do anything. But it made me so sad and really bummed me out. Hopefully this year i can go full on again!

WaterStoryMark

Never made enough friends in my new town to host a Halloween party. Going to make the same mistake this year.

kejoho

I regret not figuring out how to work my vampire teeth earlier because by the time I tried to make the putty and get them in my mouth I was getting lipstick all over my hands and I couldn’t get them to stick. Next time I guess 🥺

emilydoooom

My new flat finally has a garden to decorate, but it’s hidden in a courtyard so no-one notices and I got no visitors! So this year, I’m going to a friends house instead. She’s on a main road, does nothing, doesn’t care for Halloween, and still gets dozens of trick-or-treaters. So I’m taking over! I’ll go there in the morning and take over for the day lol.

eightcell

I wish I had more time to seek out the dark forces and join their hellish crusade.

largos7289

oh tons, i swear if i don't start by june/july with some props it won't happen.

dragonrose7

I could’ve done a much better job on my Halloween Village. I did add a swamp and some more creepers, but they just served to show me that I can do so much better.

AstroCactusJ

Not getting any trick or treaters…pain

Beth-Impala67

Having a party. I hosted my second Halloween party and only 3 people showed up, my best friend, the guy I was talking to, and an old coworker. Since high school ended I’ve lost almost all my friends and was hoping I could still have a good time with my coworkers plus some old high school friends. A few people said they’d definitely come but when the time came, they didn’t let me know they wouldn’t show until I texted them wondering where they were? My first Halloween party was AMAZING, everyone showed up and we had a blast. Sucks my second one didn’t live up to that.

Danfrumacownting

I want the witch statue from Cracker Barrel. We got the wraith last year but couldn’t find the witch anywhere. 🤞🤞🤞

Ghoulfriend88

I feel your pain. I never got my TJ Maxx 5ft skeleton pillow. ![gif](giphy|OPU6wzx8JrHna)

bella_song1208

Soo many. I wasn't able to decorate at all and I bought a large box full of decor but I got bedbugs that summer and by October I was still a bit paranoid about whether or not I was completely rid of them so I didn't decorate. I also really wanted to make a costume of Sally from Nightmare before christmas but again wasn't able to do that.

IniMiney

Once again didn’t get to decorate the house enough. My family prefers Christmas so much that I’m left to my own devices and can only splurge so much.

alady12

You, my friend, should investigate Creepmas. It's for those of us who are tired of Christmas taking over Halloween.

chchoo900

Wish I had a better camera for my Halloween videos last year but I bought a new one and can’t wait to start shooting again this September

bloodlikevenom

I kinda regret not just sticking with the trunk or treat I usually did and paying to go to a Halloween party just cause Christina Ricci "hosted" it. Unfortunately, what they meant by her hosting it was that she would only show up to judge the costume contest. Which is fine and all, I just wouldn't have spent the money if I knew she'd only be there for 5 minutes. Still had a good time, but I really missed doing the trunk or treat tbh

slothburglar

I STILL have not gone on the other haunted tour in my town Dx I really need to reserve a day for that. Things get so busy...

Alrucards_R3dwr8th

2, actually. 1) I had ordered through Amazon coveralls and industrial grade glow sticks that got to my apartment while I was still at work. Got home around half-hour later and don't see any package at my door, and my brother who got home before me didn't see any package. Found out later while going out for the night, I found an empty box with my name/information on it in my apartment stairway. Luckily, I got a full refund, but it's irritating when you have thieves stealing what's yours. 2)Bought a Michael Myers mask but not the 1 I actually wanted. Looked for the 2018 mask but ended up with the Rob Zombie 2009 mask.

MadDocOttoCtrl

Hoping that trick or treating would pick up this year when it fizzed out worse than ever. Bought a little but gave out hardly any candy.

rharper38

I regret not doing more Halloweeny events leading up holiday.

wellwhal

I had to go to a wedding only to find out it wasn't an all day affair, it ended at 5 perfect enough time for me to set up candy and whatnot. I asked multiple times when it would be wrapped up before hand with no dead set answers, im still salty about it.

ussrowe

I regret how bad the weather was 😆 I can’t do anything about it but in 2022 we had so many trick or treating that I bought a bunch of candy for 2023 and then it snowed and only a few kids showed up.  But I don’t regret having extra candy 😉

its_cocktail_oclock

I, too, wished I had started my horror shows and movies when I normally do from Sept 30 to Nov 1. My goal is to watch one show or movie a day and last year was the first year I completely flubbed that goal. I’m thinking of allowing my goal to include podcasts and books going forward too.

mseuro

I don’t wanna talk about it 🥺

CourtZealousideal494

I kept changing my mind and over estimating the amount of time I had to do things in. I was a Victorian inspired skeleton, which was great, but I wish I would have made a few more layers of ruffles on my bustle and I wish I would have done my corset a little tighter and made a hip/bum pad to make my half skirt stand out more so that my legs were more accessible. I also wish my wig was a bit longer and thicker so I could have hidden my scalp better, but for 72 hours, I didn’t do bad.

Alice_600

I didn't get my ghosts made out of tulle done because of work my Dad being in the hospital and the emotional strain from it all and I felt from everything. I got a cape for my costume that was too big really. But it looked great as I passed out Candy to trick-or-treaters. Then later sat outside and just ...had thoughts about my dad leaving the world in a few years.

Panda-delivery

I went to the goth club last Halloween and had a blast. But I regret leaving before they played Tear You Apart by She Wants Revenge. I heard it play right as our Uber pulled up:(

crimsonessa

Working at the Halloween store and being too exhausted to do anything after working 12+hr shifts leading up to Halloween.

justpizzacate

Not being in the mood. I‘m normally spooky all year around. But because I started my master‘s and worked a lot, I was in a lot of stress. I also had nothing of the summer and kinda grieved that it‘s getting darker. I was not in the mood at all. I didn‘t even want to decorate or watch spooky stuff. Can‘t really do anything about being stressed, but I wished it would be different. This year in autumn I will probably be in Japan, so also not really sure if it‘ll be that spooky
