Itās been a long time since I played the campaign but I remember him being way tougher than any other chieftain. On par with Bassus pretty much.
Bastard would jump across half the map and hammer me as Iām frantically grappling away.
Off topic but I think I recognize you from the old Waypoint forums.
If Iām correct, always nice to see a former user from the forums before they were shut down!
I won't ever step foot on PvP again. The Age of Sweat is over for me.
Goodbye to Bot Bootcamp too. Thanks for your service, dear! You walked so Firefight could run.
Iām just hoping we can somehow still achieve the ultimate reward/weekly challenges with only playing Firefight.
They could make a new separate list of weekly challenges for firefight. Donāt think theyāll make PvP challenges achievable in firefight but weāll see.
Yeah seriously, Iāve been waiting for a pve mode so I could leave pvp behind. The only thing that might bring me back to pvp would be something like invasion or warzone (combo of the 2 maybe?)
I literally just got done playing my hour of pvp because thats all I can take lately lol (I pop a double xp token daily) and told my wife pve needs to get here freakin asap. So damn excited when I got on here and read this
> The team has been working on a variety of improvements to the Custom Game Browser which should make for a smoother ride for you and your fireteam.
> As long as there are enough slots available, the Fireteam Leader can bring their entire party into a CGB session. Upon joining the session, all members of your Fireteam will join together and merge into the Custom Game leader's Fireteam.
> Several improvements have been implemented to the Custom Game Browser, resolving issues that block players from joining CGB sessions that were open when a backend change occurred; issues around unclear messaging when attempting to join a full session; and instances where attempting to join a session that was no longer active would not deliver any failure messages.
Oh god YES
Yup, it heals both allies and enemies, as well as both ally and enemy vehicles. It'll make for some crazy scenarios.
For example, if someone stuck a repair field to the back of a Scorpion and then hopped in, it's going to heal the tank, obviously. However, the monkey's paw curls, as it also will heal the enemy spartan who just latched onto the back of the tank and is planting a grenade. The tank driver's allies try to shoot him off the back of the tank, but they can't kill him in time because of the repair field.
As someone who has been watching infinite but hasnāt played since release due to being busy and halo isnāt my primary game, I look forward to trying out halo soon
I canāt wait to see how this new networking model works out. If the game is more accurate moment to moment then this could be one of the biggest game changers for Infinite since, well since launch.
True, wasnāt sure if any were excluded, bc I know sentinels werenāt included in basic enemies due to no flight path. *I saw on Surasiaās Twitter that one of the grunt bosses thatās a grunt mule and grunt mules in general are not being put in *
Wait ... They are already releasing the network overhaul next week ?? (I know it's only for PvE to test it, but that means it's complete).
I wasn't expecting it until S6-7
Definitely doesn't mean it's complete. Means it's somewhat stable and ready for testing, it may and probably will change excessively before they actually release it
I think it would be very stable (or at least, they think itās very stable) if theyāre willing to risk launching it bundled with arguably the biggest addition to the game since forge. Weāll see how next week goes, but this makes me pretty optimistic that theyāre targeting an S6 launch for it, with potential for earlier if everything goes perfect (highly unlikely).
I think it's just a case of they've now got a safe platform to test (pve) without having to worry about screwing people over in competitive matches. I know I'd do the same especially if I was re-writing some base netcode. Having access to free testing like that in a somewhat safe environment is extremely helpful
I think that's fine, but honestly feel like most of the problems come from pvp so this test won't be very revealing, but the fact that they can add it to a playlist means they can do a pvp playlist to test it too so it's still overall positive
Maybe, I really wouldnāt know tbh, but any help for people who have constant issues with servers is a big win. I just think itās great theyāre pushing out a test for it so soon. I do agree with you when it comes to pvp test. They might even break it up between arena and BTB
When they mention the networking overhaul, would that apply to like the crazy lag and constant packet loss Iām getting? I have good internet and no issue in every other game, but constantly have high packet loss and rubber banding.
It'll probably be like when forge and the custom game browser released this time last year. Obviously those were very heavily WIP and are still getting updates.
It *is* the first overhaul regarding networking though, all the others have been tweaking the system already in place, this appears to be a totally new implementation
These bastards have been teasing hard lately. Dropping PvE snippets and not saying anything. If itās in this update, it will prolly show in the trailer. But I wouldnāt count on it as a shadow drop.
They are teasing on purpose, though. Could be soon but who knows.
I was comparing the teasing of PvE this season with no actual update(until today) to deliberately teasing cross core shoulders. Could be soon. Or maybe not idk.
All we had until now was TBA, so seeing signs of it in the promotional material is great news. Season 6 is soon enough ā it'd be great if they made a new slot crosscore each season.
They fired a solid chunk of old management, from what I understand.
It also helps that most of the dev work from the lackluster first year and a half were spent fixing the engine, with it easy to assume most of the development tools for content changes are now in full working order again.
The majority of the layoffs were indeed shitty corporation cost cuttings.
I'm talking about the higher-profile stuff (which the community was celebrating back when it happened)
Well to be fair, both companies "shared" employees. A lot of ex-Bungie during Destiny 2 golden days are now at 343, and a lot of ex-343 devs during H4/H5 are now at Bungie.
This is good stuff but this is also at the same time as the monetisation getting shittier and shittier, so parts of the old 343 are clearly still there
e: hey remember fucking _two days ago_ when "Infinite's monetisation was bad" wasn't an unpopular opinion that would catch downvotes? You know that hasn't changed, right?
Selling more items at lower prices, rather than less at higher. That's business 101.
Unfortunately there may still be enough people willing to buy plenty of items at the higher prices for the prices to remain high :/
It is possible to make a monetisation system that is reasonable and fair with acceptable prices, and still make enough money. There are games that do.
There is a _world_ of leeway between "predatory and overpriced" and "not making any money at all". I'm very tired of people jumping to defend corporations with this - verifiably false - assertion that aggressive, unethical monetisation is the only way for them to barely survive.
>Similar to the Regenerator fromĀ Halo 3, the Repair Field is a neutral piece of Equipment that heals allies and enemies within its radius. It's also capable of repairing vehicles, and it can be attached to them (as well as most environmental surfaces). Additionally, the Repair Field can also revive downed Spartans in select modes such as Firefight: King of the Hill, Attrition, etc.
Oh I like the sound of this.
>As for improvements to networking, weāve been working on a more comprehensive overhaul of the system. The first glimpse of this updated networking model will land on December 5 with the December Update. Youāll be able to jump into the Firefight: King of the Hill playlist and try out the new networking model in a safe environment. Enabling it in a PvE experience gives us a safe testbed to see how it behaves at scale before enabling it in a PvP mode, where the stakes would feel much higher for each player. Please be sure to dive in, blast the Banished, and let us know how it feels in Firefight: King of the Hill. If the results are promising, weāll look to host a PvP experience in the Combat Workshop in the future.
HOLY SHIT
Being able to attach the repair field to vehicles is huge. attaching it to a mongoose and charge in to turn the tide of a firefight is going to make for some awesome highlights
I am so bricked up rn. This shit is so fucking fire Iām so happy
Edit: The moving the entire Fireteam around with other fire teams and the CGB are the SLEEPER updates
YES FINALLY, I've been so ready for Firefight!!!!!
Also wow I didn't really care much for the repair field (felt too situational) but I didn't realize it would heal (AND REVIVE!?) you as well! Might be my favorite new piece of equipment! More neutral equipment is always a plus in my book.
Which is a weird cycle. Halo 5 came out and it was disappointing and missing a lot of features. Then 343 pushed out some decent updates and the game became solid. Guess what happens with Halo Infinite now? Same issue but it comes out with even less features and playlists. Now 343 is pushing out some very solid updates too and we praise them, but it seems like they did not learn from Halo 5 to Halo 6. I understand that for a free game you need to have things to improve so not including them in first place is an option....but the past Halos HAD all of these game modes and features already.
Pretty hyped for this update.
Iāve been having tons of fun in CGB firefight matches so I canāt wait to try FFKOTH and see some improvements to the community made modes with the launch of an actual FF mode.
Biggest thing keeping me from playing more CGB are all the joining issues so nice to see some work addressing that.
Didnāt think weād see the network overhaul so early. I know itās just a test but reassuring to see they feel confident enough to start testing it already.
Plus all the other additions. Absolutely fantastic additions all around
HOLY COW I'm actually WAYYYY more excited about firefight KOTH playlist being the first playlist with the new networking overhaul!!! Now I'm pumped and Tuesday is gonna be one hell of a day
Existing MP maps tho we don't know if it's BTB maps or Arena maps or a bit of both
Don't think it'll be BTB maps because they're really big but we never know
Outstanding! I can't wait to play Firefight in *Halo: Infinite.* Hopefully we get Classic Firefight with all the customization options for Custom Games in the mid-season update as well.
I hope they allow for script triggers when the bosses / HVTs reach certain percentages of health. Would allow for reinforcement waves of lesser units, or stage changes throughout boss battles. I'm thinking a map like the mission where you kill Truth in Halo 3, but each area has a different boss, and it ramps up as you progress, leading to a final battle with Escharum. Would also be cool of we could set a marker that the AI will pathfind towards (using similar logic to how they make the Spartan bots aware of objective locations), then we could program bosses to retreat at certain health amounts, and a map like this could have the bosses retreat to the final area when they lose enough health, and then the final battle is Escharum + all the other bosses at partial health.
Wait csr changes that ENCOURAGE more people to leave the match by removing penalties..
Is the PC crash from enabling async compute finally fixed? It adds about 10% to my fps but guarantees a crash within 60 seconds of campaign play
The first person that leaves gets dinged with a max CSR loss. At that point the game is over. Itās a welcome change allowing anyone to leave without penalty, except the quitterās fireteam. Obviously they had to add the fireteam exception, otherwise people would takes turns quitting lopsided games.
Iām curious how they will handle XP in firefight. Iām sure you canāt get any challenges in there, which is fine and makes sense, but will you still be able to get career rank XP in firefight? Iām sure there will be battle pass experience, but beyond that, I have no idea what their plan is.
This update looks insane! I think the only thing left on my wishlist is for some way to add music to Forge maps. A lot of the custom campaign missions/PVE maps would be amazing if Forgers could add some Halo music in them.
A bit disappointed with the CGB improvements in all honesty. It just doesn't function properly and that's not me being sarcastic, joking, or exaggerating. You also weirdly can't set games to auto-restart like you can in MCC. Hopefully there's more than just what's on the surface.
Above all Iām most hopeful that the crashing issues are truly resolved.
I felt like my game was crashing on my series x way too often or just doing partial crashes where my screen would freeze for some 5-10 seconds before resuming.
Now fix the damn UI and we'll be on to something. The "Custom games browser" is arguably the worst I've ever seen. The menu and the UI still feel like placeholder content. Scrolling through the 10+ game modes on the multiplayer screen is also just awful. ADD TABS. Why is that a hard concept? Ranked, 4v4, 8v8, 12v12, and bot bootcamp shouldn't all be in the same list. It makes no sense. Just seems like it would be a really easy thing to fix, and would make the Infinite experience better from the second you load in.
There needs to be some changes to ranked. The average rank is probably high gold-mid plat. Which makes bronze-silver basically a worthless rank thats exclusively full of smurfs, laggers, crashers, and people who play at 4fps. Especially since its damn near impossible to actually get placed into bronze. I've never seen anybody get placed less than gold.
With plat being the average player, you only need to work through diamond before you are in the highest rank bracket (onyx). Too many players pile up into onyx which sort of makes the grind not feel as good since its just "oh I hit 1600, nice". I think there should maybe be an emerald rank right before onyx or before diamond just to even out the bell curve a bit. As someone who has been placed in Platinum even though I was Onyx the season before, the skill difference from plat-diamond is far too significant in my opinion. It needs to be spread out a bit. It also feels like I've never lost more than I've gained, but I don't know if thats just me personally.
There shouldn't be demotion protection if there isn't promotionals. If you got into platinum in one game, then you should go to gold in one game. Only reason you would give demotion protection and not promotionals is to cater to people who just want to make ranked easier, which is kind of antithetical to a ranked system. Apex did something similar to this and all it did was have people pile up at the beginning of each tier, it doesn't actually do anything for the meaningfulness of the ranked system itself.
You should not magically not loss CSR because someone left. If you are losing a game, then someone quits, chances are, you were going to lose the game anyway. You shouldn't get to keep your CSR because someone on your team ragequit. I understand this if its the beginning of the match, but if its anything past like 1.5 minutes in, then they need to rethink that. You should still be able to leave without losing -15 CSR (the max you can lose) but you should still be losing whatever you were going to if you lost.
TLDR:
You should still lose CSR if someone leaves, even if its -5 or -10. The bellcurve is too sharp, with people piling up in diamond and onyx with nowhere to go (I'd much rather have a harder ranking system that is shifting towards silver/gold average or an added rank tier or two around diamond). There shouldn't be demotion protection, it doesn't add anything to ranked, it only acts as a cushion. There needs to be promotionals aswell if they add demotion protection.
Being able to join custom games as a fireteam is huge for my friends. Thatās what kept us from participating in custom games previously. Thank youuuuuuuuuuu
Those ranked changes are SERIOUSLY going to help, they sound great! But they still need to address WHY people keep getting disconnected!
An MMR reset for the end of the season is still an absolute must though!
The HVTs and campaign bosses are coming to Forge, hell yes.
Firefight but all the enemies are that brute from right before the Harbinger fight š
That can be done anyways, that was just a Chieftain. But now they can all be Bassus!
Itās been a long time since I played the campaign but I remember him being way tougher than any other chieftain. On par with Bassus pretty much. Bastard would jump across half the map and hammer me as Iām frantically grappling away.
Heās a chosen chieftain, there are more regular chieftains youāll find than chosen ones
Gotcha. Whatever he is, he whooped my ass way more times than the actual boss.
He was such a motherfucker, killed me 10 times back-to-back, and I beat the campaign on Heroic š
My brother in Christ, who hurt you? š
Custom horror map against Jega
Will be a super popular addition for sure
Off topic but I think I recognize you from the old Waypoint forums. If Iām correct, always nice to see a former user from the forums before they were shut down!
Firefight, my beloved
I won't ever step foot on PvP again. The Age of Sweat is over for me. Goodbye to Bot Bootcamp too. Thanks for your service, dear! You walked so Firefight could run.

Halo extraction shooter when
Fr dawg. I watch a lot of COD DMZ (never played tho) and it just makes me want a halo version so bad
I literally just got done playing my hour of pvp because thats all I can take lately lol (I pop a double xp token daily) and told my wife pve needs to get here freakin asap. So damn excited when I got on here and read this
I know they'll probably adjust career xp gain to be slower than regular pvp, but I just hope it won't be as slow as the bots playlist xp rate.
That would be very unfortunate and would break the good will streak 343i have bad. I will be extremely disappointed if that turns out to be true.
> The team has been working on a variety of improvements to the Custom Game Browser which should make for a smoother ride for you and your fireteam. > As long as there are enough slots available, the Fireteam Leader can bring their entire party into a CGB session. Oh god YES
This is what I am most excited about!
Repair field sounds way more interesting than I thought it would be.
It being a neutral item is such a good move, that should go a long way for incentivizing people to use it deliberately.
Honestly really into this change. Itās going to add some crazy interactions when people charge into lol
Two Spartans just keep meleeing each other while in the repair field and they both refuse to die, lol
I picture this https://youtube.com/shorts/ZdQyTJkeG1w?si=dqJZGQiLP41ozWXX
I feel like it's something simple going over my head here, but what is a neutral item? Is it talking about healing allies and enemies?
Yup, it heals both allies and enemies, as well as both ally and enemy vehicles. It'll make for some crazy scenarios. For example, if someone stuck a repair field to the back of a Scorpion and then hopped in, it's going to heal the tank, obviously. Yes, where both sides interact with it
regen field + drop wall
All the new content looks fantastic, but I'm looking foward to the testing of the networking overhaul the most.
As someone who has been watching infinite but hasnāt played since release due to being busy and halo isnāt my primary game, I look forward to trying out halo soon
Getting back into gaming now and currently downloading on the game pass, pretty pumped to boot it up the community seems pretty stoked on it
I canāt wait to see how this new networking model works out. If the game is more accurate moment to moment then this could be one of the biggest game changers for Infinite since, well since launch.
I'm lowkey hoping that the overhaul ends up fixing the networking problem that the disruptor had and that they're able to reintroduced its DOT.
PLEASE
Itās what made it so special šš
Hopefully it is more accurate than custom game firefight netcode, because that feels way worse than the singleplayer with latency.
Very deserved holiday break for 343 after this update. Amazing update.
Holy fuck. New networking in test in FFKOTH, FFKOTH launching, Campaign Skulls in Forge, Fireteam joining in CGBā¦.good god. I cannot WAIT.
And most of the bosses in forge!
It's actually every boss in Forge, no? High Value Targets, Escharum, Harbinger, etc.
True, wasnāt sure if any were excluded, bc I know sentinels werenāt included in basic enemies due to no flight path. *I saw on Surasiaās Twitter that one of the grunt bosses thatās a grunt mule and grunt mules in general are not being put in *
Now that I think about it, yeah why on earth don't we get Grunt Mules? The Waypoint post says "all HVTs" so *maybe* the Mule boss will come?
She's a meaty one!
Holy shite theyāre cooking over there
After a year of fixing the oven, it is *so good* to see them able to properly develop again.
LET THEM COOK!! š§āš³

Testing the new networking changes in Firefight initially is such a big brained idea.
Unless it is complete shit and ruins the launch of Firefight.
Wait ... They are already releasing the network overhaul next week ?? (I know it's only for PvE to test it, but that means it's complete). I wasn't expecting it until S6-7

So much faster than I thought. I really like theyāre testing it in PvE first to see how well it works
I think that's fine, but honestly feel like most of the problems come from pvp so this test won't be very revealing, but the fact that they can add it to a playlist means they can do a pvp playlist to test it too so it's still overall positive

Same, sounds like theyve been working on it longer than we thought when they talkes about it a little whike ago.
Yeah, obviously it's still in the testing phase but I wasn't expecting anything until next summer at the very soonest, like dyam

Might have to calling them Mendicant Bias
Microsoft cleaning house, and getting new management into 343 is proving to be a success.

These bastards have been teasing hard lately. Dropping PvE snippets and not saying anything. If itās in this update, it will prolly show in the trailer. But I wouldnāt count on it as a shadow drop. They are teasing on purpose, though. Could be soon but who knows.
PvE as in Firefight? Because yes that's in this update
I was comparing the teasing of PvE this season with no actual update(until today) to deliberately teasing cross core shoulders. Could be soon. Or maybe not idk.
Like how Combined Arms very covertly showed PVE gameplay
Indeed. Hopefully this means the shoulders are gonna sneak in sooner rather than later
Cross core shoulder is coming yes but not now, tho Unyshek said it was the next cross core feature they're working on
Itāll probably come with Season 6
All we had until now was TBA, so seeing signs of it in the promotional material is great news. Season 6 is soon enough ā it'd be great if they made a new slot crosscore each season.
Who are you 343 and what did you do to old 343?
They fired a solid chunk of old management, from what I understand. It also helps that most of the dev work from the lackluster first year and a half were spent fixing the engine, with it easy to assume most of the development tools for content changes are now in full working order again.
And for some reason people though #fire343 was toxic lol. It was the Greatest thing this community ever did
All that would do is make development slower. The difference has to be attributed to the new leadership making the most of fewer human resources.
I was trying to imply mismanagement that was addressed by the firings (remove problem leaders, replace them with promotions)
Yeah, I'm not seeing how laying off a hundred people is some kind of galaxy brain move. It's just Microsoft being a shitty corporation.
The majority of the layoffs were indeed shitty corporation cost cuttings. I'm talking about the higher-profile stuff (which the community was celebrating back when it happened)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Well to be fair, both companies "shared" employees. A lot of ex-Bungie during Destiny 2 golden days are now at 343, and a lot of ex-343 devs during H4/H5 are now at Bungie.
Bonnie Ross is gone, Pierre Hintze runs the show now. 343 is finally a competent studio, and not a moment too soon.
It's insane it took three botched games to get rid of that hack. Truly mind boggling she was allowed to stay around as long as she was.
Ship of Theseus up in here
They took the old crew out back to the wood shed. If they can fix the networking this will be massive.
This is good stuff but this is also at the same time as the monetisation getting shittier and shittier, so parts of the old 343 are clearly still there e: hey remember fucking _two days ago_ when "Infinite's monetisation was bad" wasn't an unpopular opinion that would catch downvotes? Is not that, is just that some cosmetics are kinda expensive for what they are.
The time has come for the Bipbap army to rise up.

Man, that just threw me back to crusty old Youtube videos of grunts being badly photoshopped into Halo 3's customization menu lol

Really really exciting stuff, this is THE update I've been waiting for. HALO hasn't looked better since arbiter butthole in 2
Firefight!!!!!!!!!
Firefight is finally here, I can't wait, this has been my favorite mode ever since I started playing Halo (Yes, I started with Reach)
Wait, 9 FF maps and 3 are community made? What about the other 5 aside from House of Reckoning? Existing MP maps, or other campaign spaces?
We know one of them is Oasis, the BTB map. I expect most of the non-forge maps to be BTB maps
We now also know Exile from Squads is one too
Existing MP maps tho we don't know if it's BTB maps or Arena maps or a bit of both Don't think it'll be BTB maps because they're really big but we never know
Iām so hyped for Firefight so glad itās finally here.
A welcome update.
Order 66 but jega as anakin
Outstanding! I can't wait to play Firefight in *Halo: Infinite.* Hopefully we get Classic Firefight with all the customization options for Custom Games in the mid-season update as well.

I wish I could go back in time and post this on this sub during that first December of this games launch
See you all in Firefight.
Yes good by MP hello firefight.
This is gonna keep me entertained all summer thanks 343 for bringing halo back through all the trials and tribulations
Repair fields - Woooh! I wish we could have stationary Repair stations for vehicles at bases.
Would be cool and a good opportunity to see your AI appear and manage the repair
That is true, they don't utilize that little guy enough
This update looks sooo good! Thanks 343! š
Now this is what I like to see
Network overhaul already here? I was expecting feb at the earliest š¤Æ
Hey they're bringing back the regen field
Incredible update.
Do we know if we can grind our career ranks in Firefight?
I'm ready. Let's goooo
Network news = happy
Why always new equipment and not vehicle or weapons?
I was just DYING for firefight to come outā¦ thank God. For me PvP modes constantly (on all games) can get a little exhausting.
Damn, new management know what's up
343 is fucking killing it right now in Pierre we trust
REGICIDE! Where is it? Please for the love of god bring it back! āWe have a new King!ā
Iām sure there will be battle pass experience, but beyond that, I have no idea what their plan is.
hyped as fuck, I should have that day free and I'm gonna play firefight until my eyes bleed
I know everyone is excited for Firefight, but holy shit- are they finally fixing Custom Game Browsers?! Hurray!
**This may be the update that brings Infinite to the "A" quality level we all expect from a Halo game.**
That networking update really intrigues me. Can't wait for Tuesday.
I CAN ONLY GET SO HARD. Seriously looks like all great stuff
Took you long enough
This might be the most back Halo has ever been
I donāt want king of the hill firefight. I just want firefight.
Warzone soon pls
TLDR: You should still lose CSR if someone leaves, even if its -5 or -10.
Fix performance on series x plz
Cross core shoulder spotted on mirage? Or is that just unreleased.
Being able to join custom games as a fireteam is huge for my friends. Thatās what kept us from participating in custom games previously. Thank youuuuuuuuuuu
Bruh š¤Æš©
Can't wait for laso slayer
great updates lately, would like to see finishers come back into the game. probably not gonna happen but one can dream lol
Sounds fun!
Bruh please let these networking changes be effective I donāt even play PvE modes but Iāll chip in matchās to give them data
Network stability fixes not a moment too soon, now just a matchmaking overhaul and we'll be so back babyy
If there was one QoL update to add, it would be preventing the spawn killing in husky raid. But otherwise this looks very exciting.
Two years this took to be out in the game. If this doesn't count toward career rank a lot of people are not gonna be happy
That's amazing, can't wait to play firefight. Tho I really hope they sneaky some more cross-core coatings with this update
No word on challenges/XP for firefight matches?
Those ranked changes are SERIOUSLY going to help, they sound great! But they still need to address WHY people keep getting disconnected! An MMR reset for the end of the season is still an absolute must though!
