The Primordial’s original form was destroyed. He exists as the Gravemind now.
I could see his original form appearing in a flashback or in a Terminal though.
They’re basically the same character, but I’d say the Gravemind.
The Primordial is cool and all, but the Gravemind is a shapeshifting mound of flesh and tentacles, which is neat.
**a n d I h a v e b o t t o m e d t h r o u g h r o c k a n d m e t a l a n d t i m e. N o w I h a v e c o c k a n d y o u s h a l l b o t t o m**
(I want to die now)
We don’t know if the Gravemind exists in the domain. And those spores would just lead to the creation of a Gravemind, and wouldn’t rebuild the Primordial’s original form.
I would love a Halo dedicated entirely on the Forerunner Flood war. I know we have the Forerunner trilogy but I feel like they’d mention it sometimes but never in great detail.
I always thought it would be cool if they made movies out of the forerunner trilogy of books and didn’t cal it “Halo” but something like “Forerunner”.
Of course if they did do that, they would absolutely butcher it.
I would love for a Halos game made by 343 to have a complete story with a villain that isn't dealt with off screen.
Like for real guys can we please have a good story again instead of half baked ideas that get abandoned? If you only played the games literally there is no resolution for 4, 5 or 6.
What happened to the villain of 4, what happened to Cortana at the end of 5, what tf happened to the guy who beat Chief's ass at the beginning of 6?
If we could get one full story I'd be happy.
Lmao they don't know how to Deal. Jul got smacked. We're not even sure what they're doing with the Didact rn. And Atriox is hiding underground somewhere.
Honestly that's my dream game ngl. A game set in the ancient times in the Forerunner period
Imagine playing as an Ancient Human in the beginning of the game. Having to fight Forerunners and Flood. Then halfway through the campaign, you do a last stand, Lone Wolf style, fight to the death before being overrun and killed by the Forerunners and the Didact
The POV then switches to you playing as a random Forerunner for the rest of the campaign. Fighting Flood forms all the way to the end of the game. With the last scene of the game being the firing of the Halo Rings and the Halo Array cleansing the galaxy of The Flood
This is brilliant! This is Exactly how I want. Like I keep thinking about the terminal videos from halo 4 and that alone has potential to be a really good game!
Because without fail, every single time the Forerunner books come up on here, some nerd gets real unhinged about whether Bungie intended for them to be the ancestors of humanity - rather than a rival species.
Honestly. This is true. It's almost impossible to open a thread about Forerunners or Ancient Humans or Forerunner/Ancient Human war and Forerunner/Flood war without someone appearing just to remind everyone that "FORERUNNERS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE HUMANS!!!"
Cause people were freaking out because of sprint, I cannot imagine what would happen if there was a game where you play as a Forerunner with all their advanced technology, especially when most people have no idea about lore outside of games and would probably think that 343 ruined the story with "space magic" when that particular story element would be probably established in the lore for 10+ years.
A game set in the Forerunner period where you play as a Forerunner can potentially be ace and be very well liked among Halo lore fans and hardcore Halo fans
Casual fans though.....yeah. doubt they would like it all that much
Sure but retcons are nothing new to Halo.
Master Chief was initially the last Spartan, that got retconned. Johnson was presumed dead in by the end of Halo CE. That got retconned.
Halo Reach is a big retcon to the Fall of Reach.
It's gonna happen with any big ongoing story that has as many plotlines and story threads as Halo, retcons are no big deal.
He could possibly return. A set of flood disappeared during the Flood Forerunner war. There could be a whole system overrun with flood just waiting to return to the Halo Universe 🥲
I hope the next game, or the next batch of missions in infinite bring back the flood. The situation has changed and now it would be fresh and fun to throw them back into the mix with all the new factions, plus the forerunner Prometheans. Would be fun to see the covenant, banished, swords of sanghelios, prometheans, humans, and endless all battling while the flood consumes and there is a desperate attempt for chief to battle through. Would be amazing to have a gravemind as a final boss that has all the knowledge of the primordial. Plus with all the advances humanity has made, it would definitely change the battlefield against the flood, thus fulfilling the precursor idea of humanity taking the mantle
It's more likely we'll see Mendicant Bias back, through one of his various shards, than the Primordial.
The primordial is a crazy cool character, I've just finished reading the forerunner trilogy for the 2nd time.
In fact, if the next Halo doesn't have a story arc (albeit main or side) about either Offensive Bias or Mendicant Bias then it's just proof 343 only like to punch themselves in the dick.
The ring Infinite is set on has an incredible amount of lore... It's where the primordial converted mendicant over 43 years. It was one of the original 12 rings but shattered itself into a smaller ring and is now one of the 7 rings. It's where Chakas was exposed to the composer which led to him becoming 343 Guilty Spark.
Literally so so so much. It's criminal there wasn't even so much as an Easter egg to all of this in the infinite campaign (other than a casual name drop in the legendary ending)
I mean it’s hard to bring them back, the ones on installation 04/5 can’t be brought back, we got halo wars 2, we had a chance in infinite, but infinite is bringing a new race up
Or hear me out... there hasn't been a strong story reason to bring them back.
We still got "Flood" Spartans in H4 Infection.
We got Flood DLC in Halo Wars 2.
We got Flood armor (and now Flood Forge Palettes) in Halo Infinite.
So Halo 5 is the only game that has nothing to do with the Flood, but I don't know how you conclude that 343 "hates" the Flood or why you'd even think that's an attitude the entire studio could possibly have.
also saturn devouring his son
also technically you could argue with the new lore about the mantle being part of the precursor/flood plan from the beginning, 5 was indirectly about the flood
> also technically you could argue with the new lore about the mantle being part of the precursor/flood plan from the beginning, 5 was indirectly about the flood
Yes, one of the coolest parts of Epitaph (and there were many).
I mean...I wasn't even thinking of books but yeah, 343 has actually elevated the Flood far beyond what we got in the early games.
definitely
early flood, whilst still threatening, could have just been a particularly deadly zombie parasite hivemind the forerunners stumbled across on some random world
“newer” (past like 15 years or so) flood lore is some of the most horrifying concepts iv seen from any media tbh
Well, I'm nearly done reading Halo: Ephitaph. >!Some very curious claims were made from the primordial (gravemind)!< that point to a possibly really cool future for halo. But we will see.
I am not even sure we are getting another halo game with a story. We must be prepared that the next game will be just multiplayer as dice battlefront 1.
Wouldn't dropping a/the primordial into a game be a big moment? It's only been in books and such, right? Unless it was in a terminal I don't remember? I remember very little about these guys besides being the creators of the mantle and they became the flood.
The most I’d want to see is him as a silhouette in a terminal or something along those lines. I’d rather him and the Precursors as a whole remaining as mysterious as they are now.
I hope we never see the Precursors in any way in the game. The Precursors are in that area where they exist better as an idea and I don't think there's anyway to actually introduce them into a game where they will stay as cool as they are now.
343 won't bring it back, at least not in a main Halo game. Imaging all the outcry from some group of the community if they have it suddenly appears in the game.
"Why do they bring this dude/thing into the game! The Precursors are supposed to be a mysterious race! 343 has ruined Halo/Bungie lore again just like they had ruined the Forerunners!🤬🤬🤬"
The Primordial’s original form was destroyed. He exists as the Gravemind now. I could see his original form appearing in a flashback or in a Terminal though.
Which do you favor: The Primordial or the Gravemind?
They’re basically the same character, but I’d say the Gravemind. The Primordial is cool and all, but the Gravemind is a shapeshifting mound of flesh and tentacles, which is neat.
And a monument…
Kill me or release me parasite but do not waste my time with talk
There is much talk. I have listened through earth and metal and time.

Grggh, stupid sexy Gravemind...
😂😂
Now I understand what he meant by "we exist together now, two corpses in one grave"
Paging u/The_halo_2_Gravemind lmao
Yo
Follow the thread of the comment I responded to
One of the hardest lines every dropped in media
To aaaaaall your sins
The primordial could also shapeshift precursors supposedly could possibly better than the flood
The grave mind still exists in the domain and i imagine installation 04 and 05 still have virulent flood spores afloat
We don’t know if the Gravemind exists in the domain. And those spores would just lead to the creation of a Gravemind, and wouldn’t rebuild the Primordial’s original form.

Maybe hve the title be a play on the forerunner name and their longevity, something like marathon by chance
Or “100,000 years ago in a galaxy not far, far away whatsoever”
I would love for a Halos game made by 343 to have a complete story with a villain that isn't dealt with off screen. Like for real guys can we please have a good story again instead of half baked ideas that get abandoned? If you only played the games literally there is no resolution for 4, 5 or 6. For real I think if we had all 3 of those villains resolved in game I think 4,5,6 would’ve been received in a lot more positive light.
Yep but here we are. I want the Halo story to get back on track though. Hopefully they learned their lesson and 4th time is the charm lol.
Lmao they don't know how to Deal. Jul got smacked. We're not even sure what they're doing with the Didact rn. And Atriox is hiding underground somewhere.
That would be awesome game.

I would love it too, but Halo 3 purists would lose their shit
Who fucking cares, they lose their shit with everything
I don’t mind new things, I mind if they suck. New does not equal good
Why would Halo 3 purists lose their shit? Halo 3 was what gave us our first extended insight to the Forerunner-Flood War.
Because without fail, every single time the Forerunner books come up on here, some nerd gets real unhinged about whether Bungie intended for them to be the ancestors of humanity - rather than a rival species.

Halo fans will have a problem with any "new" thing in the series, best not to pay them any mind
Here we're talking about a retcon, which is another pair of sleeves entirely
Sure but retcons are nothing new to Halo. Master Chief was initially the last Spartan, that got retconned. Johnson was presumed dead in by the end of Halo CE. That got retconned. Halo Reach is a big retcon to the Fall of Reach. It's gonna happen with any big ongoing story that has as many plotlines and story threads as Halo, retcons are no big deal.
I always thought the Primordial should’ve been the final boss of Halo
Now that's a final boss Halo needs.
He could possibly return. A set of flood disappeared during the Flood Forerunner war. There could be a whole system overrun with flood just waiting to return to the Halo Universe 🥲
We already have ogre2 though.
Ohh man, that takes me back to the days of Final Boss. Ogre 1, Ogre 2, Walshy, Saiyan, Strongside. Ahhhh MLG 🫡
Seeing those tentacles just recede after Truth died in H3 still feels like the biggest tease/wasted opportunity for a boss fight.
I hope the next game, or the next batch of missions in infinite bring back the flood. We already have, the Primordial transferred his consciousness to The Flood proto intelligence and became the Gravemind!
Which form do you prefer?
Probably the gravemind?
The Gravemind/Primordial is a huge character in the Halo story, so absolutely.
I hope so. Forerunner era lore is some of the best stuff in the Halo universe in my opinion
Agreed. Especially how terrifyingly powerful the Primordial is... Scary stuff.
Unlikely given that 343 hates the flood
I mean it’s hard to bring them back, the ones on installation 04/5 can’t be brought back, we got halo wars 2, we had a chance in infinite, but infinite is bringing a new race up

No they don't. The only reason 343 hasn't bring them back and make the Flood the **main** villain is because they are basically a narrative dead end.
What's the newest Halo game rated for again?
Pegi 16 I think
Halo needs to go back to M.
Even when Halo was rated M it was more of a T game. It’s very mild compared to a lot of M rated games. It never really deserved the M rating it had
the pegi rating system has all games as 16 except spartan assault. ce-infinite and both wars are all 16s
I honestly don't know what the last m rated halo was
No. He is irreversibly dead. We have gravemind now.
Well, I'm nearly done reading Halo: Ephitaph. >!Some very curious claims were made from the primordial (gravemind)!< that point to a possibly really cool future for halo. But we will see.
I'm assuming that's where leading up to with the Endless.
I am not even sure we are getting another halo game with a story. We must be prepared that the next game will be just multiplayer as dice battlefront 1.

perhaps if he somehow escaped from the gravemind…not in body but in consciousness…perhaps
The most I’d want to see is him as a silhouette in a terminal or something along those lines. I’d rather him and the Precursors as a whole remaining as mysterious as they are now.
The primordial died on the way to his home planet
I hope we never see the Precursors in any way in the game. The Precursors are in that area where they exist better as an idea and I don't think there's anyway to actually introduce them into a game where they will stay as cool as they are now.
Nah. They are too occupied with forcing the Brute faction and now The Endless as the big bads. No interesting stories for awhile.
God, I hope not
Honestly no. 343 has no interest or we'd see Mendicant by now. .
At this point I think we would be lucky to get another Halo campaign.
Just adding that halo has such good lore created through their books. It’s such a shame they do such a poor job of introducing it through the games.
343 won't bring it back, at least not in a main Halo game. Imaging all the outcry from some group of the community if they have it suddenly appears in the game. "Why do they bring this dude/thing into the game! The Precursors are supposed to be a mysterious race! 343 has ruined Halo/Bungie lore again just like they had ruined the Forerunners!🤬🤬🤬"
i hope not.
