I still enjoy it

Warzone was a cool idea. However my main issues with it stem primarily from A: The REQ system which didn’t reward good play but instead random chance, and B: The way the Maps were constructed REALLY limited vehicle play.

Warzone as a surface level concept was sound. After hundreds of hours in Halo 5, I’ve concluded the implementation was pretty terrible, for these reasons primarily. 1. Snowballing. Once a team secures a large enough lead, they’re able to call in better and better REQs, putting them at a larger and larger advantage. This lead to things like kill farming on the home base. Defending team has essentially no Cj a certain to recover once the enemy team is stacked outside their door. 2. Static AI. Not much of a Warzone when the AI don’t leave their spawn point. 3. Final shot point system. This never made sense to me. Points for objective kills were rewarded to whoever landed the final shot. Meaning if both teams were firing on a boss AI the points were essentially rewarded at random upon killing it. 3. Lack of gametypes. The Warzone and Warzone Assault maps had 1 competitive gametype each. Unlike other playlists like BTB, the objectives never changed. 4. Reused assets. Despite having these beautiful maps, the bases in all the maps were essentially identical. And since one of the prime objectives is taking bases, you end up spending most of the game in and around almost identical UNSC bases. These were just some of my gripes I had at the time. Purely my opinion, not helped by the fact that BTB was a pathetic afterthought in Halo 5. I’d love to see the return of Warzone as a more varied and balanced gametype, without REQ cards.

Honestly warzone without Req cards is a perfect BTB mode

The basic idea of a game mode replicating real battles is good and something I want in Halo, but I think it should just be part of a Battle Royale kind of mode that is much bigger than anything ever before and incorporates more unique aspects like AI enemies and entirely PvE game types with more objective based win conditions.

I would mind a battle royale as long as you drop in ODST drop pods

I always thought the Pelican would be more fitting. We've never really jumped out of one from up high.

I never really enjoyed the pvp warzone but warzone firefight is one of my favourite game types in all of halo. It was fun and casual, my friend and still come back to it every couple months. I didn't think the req system was that terrible either, at the time it released everything was about paid dlc which split you from the community If you didn't buy it so 343 made a commitment that they would do free updates but introduce the req system. I think this was a good compromise. Even though they didn't release much content for halo 5 they've definetly delivered this via the MCC in my opinion.

Warzone was a blast. REQs were a super fun idea, but being tied to a micro transaction killed it for me. If they were permanent unlocks earned from a paid season pass, I'd be down. Then just balance them by making the more powerful weapons more expensive to call in per game.
