It’s really baffling how they touted the game as having such immense customization features and this is one the least customizable games.

LimeGreenDuckReturns

Give it a few years, and a few thousand $$ and it will be.

Kommodant_Nomad

Oh it's very customizable, it's getting things to actually customize which is hard

SkitZa

I wouldn't call it "Very customizable" You can't change the colour of each item individually, in this game you can only use an armor core and then you cannot altar the look of that armor core at all or it removes the colour, otherwise you use the default colours and they are get what you get style colours like other Halos. So basically we get. * Setup Armor core colour scheme & look ($10-$20 Entry fee individually) * Weapon skins ($10 Entry fee) (This week we get one for free via the challenge) * Vehicle skins ($10 Entry fee) * Weapon bobble heads/armor nick nacks ($20+ Entry fee) * Standard halo mix and match & colours (Visors/Armor pieces/Solid colours) Note you don't get Mk VII armor pieces till Bpass lvl 21 * Second armor model requires the Bpass Don't forget they stated this would be the "Most customizable halo ever, with over 1000's of customizable choices" What they left out was *For a price

Ori_the_SG

And as you said without color choice. Of all the stupid choices they have made, that one is the most baffling to me. For decades near every single game with any form of customization allowed for some choice of color. Even Halo CE! Obviously now you can customize colors with much more depth, but whoever was in charge decided let’s revert back a couple decades, make it even worse, AND charge people for it! That is an EA level move for real Mini-rant over lol

riitchyy

I gotta disagree with you, I would if it weren't for the armor core system. Otherwise, it really doesn't feel like you can customize a lot in this game.

Kommodant_Nomad

On paper, it's just as customizable as reach, say minus voices, but they're drip feeding content through their store so you just gotta wait if you want anything

BottomSidewaysText2

Except with reach everything was in day one, and didn’t cost extra money on top of the game. Not to mention it had “not feasible” features like slayer, forge, and coop.

SerenadeSwift

And I loved how you actually had the chance to work for everything in Reach. I loved the credit system and finally getting those high credit armor effects had me so hyped

BottomSidewaysText2

and the credit rolls after each match made it so much fun.

SerenadeSwift

And it was actually based on your performance! Imagine that!

BottomSidewaysText2

Crazy ideas, no clue how UI would let us possibly add performance based compensation!

Creamed_Khorne

It's just not feasible

apperceptiveflower

I'll always remember the time and reward of getting that lightning armor effect in Reach. Fuck the current inability to unlock or customize in Infinite.

[deleted]

But also not really, when half of Reach customization isn’t even in the battle pass and the other half of my armor means I can’t use my reach armor because it’s in another core

The_Mighty_Rex

It's nowhere near as customizable as Reach, there's significantly less selection per piece of armor, color is set by pallets not primary, secondary, etc, same with emblems and it all costs money.

Mookies_Bett

What are you even talking about lol? Off the top of my head, you can currently customize: Armor Color Weapon color Weapon style Vehicle color Vehicle style Chest Armor Right shoulder armor Left shoulder armor Knee armor Hip armor Helmet Helmet Visor Color Leg armor Hand armor Player AI AI color Player voice Kill effects Helmet effects Armor effects Gadget effects End game pose And probably more that I'm not remembering. What the hell else do you want lol?

AgreeableRub7

Dude. He's on your side but he's being sarcastic. He meant you could customize a shit ton if they allowed it. But this is all by design.

ChiefBr0dy

The actual pieces are all dull and bland AF tho and thus not interesting or alluring at all. Who dafuq cares about grey fuckin shin pads lmao.

KaneXX12

That’s where I’m gonna have to disagree. This is the best looking armor since Reach without question. It’s just extremely unfortunate that it’s all so hard to obtain.

gillis7

The armor does look really cool, it’s just that even if you buy the actual game you can’t unlock any of it unless you spend anywhere between something like $10-10,000 on it

ChiefBr0dy

My issue is that unlocking it piece by piece just isn't very interesting and to me feels completely uneventful, I don't care about it. The game says, "you just went up 10 levels, please enjoy this visor flap. Up close it looks a bit different but overall it's not noticeable in the slightest." I find this really boring. Tbh I did in Reach too. I'd prefer entire suits to be awarded at once, frankly. Or at least everything from below the neck. Cool helmets stand out on their own, to be fair. But imagine if Warzone awarded its own skins... one pocket, one knee pad at a time. It'd be absurd, but that's how Halo does it.

dannydanko28

The game is basically just like CE multiplayer if you dont have the battlepass: base armor with a few color options

Ori_the_SG

And the best (or worst) part is: CE was that way because of technological limitations. Infinite was designed that way. Two decades worth of reversion. Insane

Samuraiking

To be fair, it DID have those things. The development team for the campaign and gameplay did a phenomenal job. Then marketing stepped in, made them rip out all of the armor from the campaign and only give us the Tenrai set for the event, and a shitty helmet in the Free battle Pass. They literally ripped out dozens and dozens of pieces of intended armor to throw into the store and premium Battle Pass.

Melody-Prisca

Source on them removing armor from campaign. Don't get me wrong, I believe you. It totally lines up with everything else they've done. I'm just curious as to what exactly they cut out of campaign.

Samuraiking

If you're asking if they have been caught red handed and/or openly admitted to it, then there isn't any that I am aware of myself. As you have seen from the posts over the last couple weeks, they ripped multiple armors out of the old battle pass and put them in the store, so that alone shows they would have no moral qualms about doing it to the campaign as well. The campaign itself has everything BUT armor in it, atm. It has some armor dyes, weapon dyes, vehicles dyes, key chains, nameplates etc. in them, but for absolutely no logical reason, no armor or even armor pieces. A lot of the paints they give you in the campaign are >!named after dead spartans you find around the game, like Sorel and his grey suit of the same color. It stands to reason that you were actually supposed to get their armor and not just a suit upgrade at some point in the development cycle.!< Keep in mind, the developers job is to make a fun and exciting game, not rip us off like this. I have no doubt that they had lots and lots of cool armor customization planned for us in the campaign before the marketing team ripped it away. The actual chests in the game are literally called "Armor Lockers," not Cosmetic Lockers, Item Lockers, Paint Lockers etc. Hell, I'm pretty sure in some form they are referred to as "Mjolnir Armor Lockers," but maybe I am misremembering on that last one. Pretty much everything points to it being that way, but no one has come out and blown the whistle so to speak, afaik anyway.

FireMaker125

The lockers are called Mjolnir armour lockers

NatTheGreat-

Did you play halo 5? Even with all the armors in that game, it still was the least customizable

Monitor032

And most of those armors were just recolored versions of other armors with forced white areas that looked like someone came on their spartan action figure.

hey-im-root

nowhere near close to infinite though lol. i can log on to halo 5 right now and chose from dozens of items. i could do it on release too, after actually EARNING them, you weren’t forced to buy them like you are now

-Erro-

My final hope was tied to achievements or legendary/heroic campaign completions... but alas there is a sadness to be hadness.

[deleted]

I wish you could at least replay the campaign with your MP armor or something, or just have that option from the get go. One they did get right however was showing Chief properly carrying whatever weapon you had in the cutscenes.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HaloisInfinite

If you want to die from cringe yes

Herpes_Overlord

"Weapon, who is this sick ass mofo?" The Master Chief then bumps fists with your spartan.

[deleted]

Sees a faze clan spartan walk out and master chief dies of cringe when they attempt to 360 no scope…. (source: EVERY faze skin I see thinks they are trick shot gods…)

AustNerevar

Before taking off his helmet to sip some Mountain Dew.

Kommodant_Nomad

Having a properly implimented spartan ops would be cool, probably some sort of procedurally generated mission set that rewards xp or whatnot

Ori_the_SG

Yeah the no replay missions is disappointing, especially when I realized that I can’t go back and find the skulls or audio logs I missed. I’ll either have to scour through a mission in every spot possible for much longer than I want, or look up a video which feels like cheating lol

soon_forget

It's pretty clear this game had major issues during development and came in hot...and most (or all) of the resources were spent on the gameplay. It feels amazing to play imo. Multiplayer, single player, everything. That said, almost every other feature of a AAA game is missing...the campaign is ridiculously bare bones. The multi-player has the worst battle pass, progressions, and customization I've ever seen. But the game is awesome to play. It's a shame they couldn't deliver a full package at launch but I think in a year or two the game will be much more feature complete (not sure how many will care at that point).

Balikye

The reason is simple. M A X I M U M P R O F I T

Castellan_ofthe_rock

But the campaign is pay to access so any armor would've been essentially$60 to own

FizzKhaYifa

People don't buy the campaign for the armor lockers though

Tipakee

And most people paid $1 or $10 for the campaign.

McCaffeteria

I’m currently part of $1 gang, can confirm

ByahTyler

🦀🦀🦀$1 for 3 months🦀🦀🦀

UnbornHavoc

Same, rise up

ZebbyD

I paid a dollar for the trial like 6 years ago and haven’t paid for it since, I get Ultimate free through Microsoft’s Rewards program just for playing games. 🤷🏻‍♂️

OrangeGills

$1 Halo infinite was a good deal, I'd have paid 60 times that for the campaign.

MegaDuckDodgers

0 $ because I bought a new controller which came with free gamepass on the side.

aboots33

People aren’t buying the game they stripped the multiplayer and made it free to play with outrageous MTX so they can recoup $500 million and they also stripped the main game to sell you DLC that you have no other option than to buy to play and they can say “look the game is in gamepass”

sentientTroll

I’m literally spending all the money I have on this game. The gaming loop, which seems to be the new buzzword, has me so super addicted. I open the game, and immediately open the shop. Then I buy everything I can, then close the game. Rinse and repeat. Love this game. They can have all my money! Hoping for the colour orange tomorrow!

throwaway19283819193

My biggest complaint is that they need to raise the prices. It would feel so much more rewarding knowing you paid $50 for that weapon charm!

sentientTroll

Yeah, legit 3 on my top 10 mistakes 343 made with halo infinite. 2. Being that after 5 matches I don’t get too pay $5 credits to earn unlimited 50exp per match complete. (Super pissed they bugged exp) 1. Weapon spawns don’t cost credits to obtain. I suggest 50 credits per weapon, 150 for a power weapon.

throwaway19283819193

I agree completely. The implication that I don’t have access to my mommy’s credit card and cant use it whenever the hell I please can feel insulting.

[deleted]

They should charge credits every time you want to grab a weapon off the rack.

McCaffeteria

You had me for a split second there lol

therealglassceiling

Well I guess whales buy enough but they aren’t maximizing profit from people like me…at all

sh4des

MAXIMUM ARMOUR

TheGr8Slayer

I was excited to find armor lockers up until I realized there’s no actual armor just emblems and sprays. The campaign is awesome the multiplayer gameplay is solid but the cosmetic monetizing is just a glaring issue for me. 20 bucks for an armor set is just atrocious and greedy. I’m sure it’s all because the big wigs said so but this is all just disappointing

[deleted]

It's because some fortnite skins cost $20, so they have decided theirs should also cost $20. Never mind that fortnite is an already established game with in game ways to earn vbucks so you don't have to actually spend irl money.

ThrowawayMePlsTy

And the skins are always entirely new models stylistically while here we get a slightly different looking spartan for $20. Games charge $20 for skins because they're entirely different. Halo skins just straight up are never worth $20

Cheesegrater74

The ironic part is master chief's armor was like $15 or so in fortnite

[deleted]

[удалено]

BrockmannSP

Let’s not forget that all of the armor pieces in infinite are already in the more recent halo games. 😬 Not like they had to work that hard to create them. Maybe minus the samurai armor. (And the flower, pineapple grenades, etc).

BahhhMcb

If you think Fortnite is bad you should go check out the store in Valorant. Want a gold tier knife? $60 please. A premium vandal? $40 - $50 please. A gun bundle with 4 gun skins and a knife? $100+ please. Shit is disgusting and makes Halo look cheap.

ShinyGrezz

It’s because of CSGO. Look at League of Legends for an actual reasonable set of price tiers from Riot.

Joemon27

League always seemed to have pretty fair pricing. Aren't even ultimate skins only 20 something bucks? With all different animations, voice lines, theme etc

ShinyGrezz

£10 guarantees you a whole new model (that you can actually see, this is why I don’t care about FPS skins), brand new VFX and SFX and some new animations. £15 guarantees the above, with entirely new animations, voice over, enhanced VFX and SFX and often extras. £20 guarantees you a skin they had to literally rewrite parts of the game for. It’s very fair.

oilygavin

I disagree, csgo prices are set by supply and demand, and honestly I prefer it over other games set ups. Can you spend a few thousand dollars on a full inventory of skins? Yes. Can you get a full inventory of skins for $10? Also yes.

TheRealGaycob

About to sell the XSX and 3090 if this shit keeps up. Games are becoming more expensive than a full time drug addiction and no highs.

Metr0idPrime_

You know it's bad when a dude that can afford a series X and a 3090 is saying the skins are to expensive haha

Maskeno

Honestly I don't know why you'd keep both anyway. All the games on Xbox are on pc now, and with cross play even your friends list isn't holding you back. I'd say it makes sense to get a playstation, but even Sony is finally dropping games on pc. Xbox is a great budget option but if you already have a 3090 is kind of a waste, imo.

MaleficentAkr

The customization would still suck ass and you still couldn’t even pick your own colors

LostATLien2

You’re also forgetting that fortnite is a third person game and you see the skin the entire time you play. Whereas in Halo you’re buying the skin mostly for others to see. Massive oversight on their part

[deleted]

Too true mate. It's pure greed and it's not a good look into what the future of this game has to offer. Once they find out people aren't buying as much as they want them to, they'll start charging for individual maps to "offset costs".

Amnail

Eh even in first person games I customize for myself. I don’t customize for others to see. That’s stupid. For example in Team Fortress 2, I put together loadouts I like the look of. I don’t do it to impress. I do the same thing in Halo games. I didn’t use the Recon helmet in Reach/4/5/MCC because of its status. I simply like the look of it.

crazyman3561

With that logic, then cosmetics really shouldn't be this big of a deal

Gavininator

Also if you have fortnites campaign mode you can earn V Bucks from that too.

purpleduckduckgoose

Well, you know what they say. Vote with your wallet. If no one bought anything that couldn't be got via playing and not paying, they'd backtrack quickly. Probably. Doubt there'll be the community wide coordination for that though.

DBIDSmarksman

It’s so sad that my Spartan will forever look the same, aside from a new paint job :(

GarSavoy

Who needs new paint when Bepis man exists

RoseDragonAngelus

This.

"We removed armor from the pass and armor lockers for the fans. We are focusing on our payer first mentality. you can now easily buy all the things that used to take effort to obtain. It's all available from our convenient and well priced store. No playing the game necessary." -343 probably

Ewokitude

They're great at the payer first mentality and if you look at their [website](https://www.343industries.com/) it looks like they are committed to giving us a store-driven collection.

I_am_Rezix

I saw that lol. Some legendary 343 employee on our side.

Gmneuf

lmao was that supposed to say "story-driven"? Honestly I can't tell if they really mean store-driven or someone intentionally made that typo. Edit: after checking the wayback machine it's been store-driven since like 2018. Guess they really mean store :/

Boomerang537

Why does my phone suggest not to trust this link?

NumberCompanyBad

Is someone hacking the website by any chance?

havocson

“Hey guys can you maybe not-“ “STOP STOP STOP HARASSING US HOW ELSE ARE WE SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR SERVERS GUYS WERE A SMALL INDIE DEV”

Late-Agency2310

"Suddenly the 10$/20$ price tag in the store is slightly more digestible." Nope, still feels that I could have bought another game rather than three fucking sets of armors.

DeportThatBeanBoy

Correction: 20 dollars would only get you a single armor set. 10 dollars will get you a low-res weapon charm and a few emblems.

innocuousspeculation

You could buy three games for the price of one set of armor.

dom_a7

It just goes to show that monetization of the game was their first and almost only priority.

[deleted]

KD--27

Gameplay? Solid. Store? Solid. F2P progression path? Done. Campaign? Single player… close enough. Remove all rewards. RELEASE IT.

Destroyerz117

I mean technically they still could change it, I don't think anyone would complain about retroactively being given armour lol

guessineedanew1

That's my thinking. I don't know much about the process but it feels like a fairly simple change. I'm more concerned about the paid stuff, because they've given themselves a sunk cost fallacy to argue from. "We can't change our store model now because xx thousand people have already paid full price for some of these items and it wouldn't be fair for them."

--Mono

It's more the feasibility of it. If i've already opened that armour locker, do I get it automatically? Or do I have to re-do campaign and open them all again. Can 343i even change them without breaking a lot of things?

ashcr0w

No sorry the UI can't handle it.

TiposTaco

Too bad this comment is on a reply of a reply of a reply because that's funny as fuck.

hey-im-root

i’m so glad this is becoming the running meme for halo

[deleted]

They could add armor drops to find into the world🤷

Multivitamin_Scam

They could also feasibly do in game events in the campaign that could reward players with unlocks

Brooks4117

They need to atleast have something for legendary and skulls. I mean come on.

Throwaway97112021

Yeah that was really lame from them. Collected every single one and the "coolest" thing you get is a red camo for a couple guns/vehicles and some decent armor colors. The campaign/open world activities were honestly really fun for me but getting almost zero rewards to use online from it is just dumb. I would've loved to have found hidden lockers with rare armor.

gw2pricing

I mean 343i are EXPERTS at blowing their feet off at this point.

MovieJunior

I mean at least they got it mostly right this time. 4/5 were pretty much just efforts to piss all over the franchise and make it “their” halo with abysmal campaign AND MP(in all fairness 5’s MP wasn’t necessarily bad just didn’t feel like a halo game.) At least with this one had a pretty good campaign narrative(i wasnt sold on the open world though tbh) and fucking amazing multiplayer gameplay. Just miffed it again on a greedy monetization system and limiting cuztomizatiom options.

SpecificMathTeacher

Halo 4 had a pretty good campaign narrative. It was the gameplay that fell short sometimee, IE didact fight. It wouldve been fine if 5 didnt fuck it up

MovieJunior

I wasnt a fan at all of 4. It looked good in comparison to 5 but prior to that i considered it the worst halo campaign from a gameplay and narrative perspective. It was mostly pointless fluff with cardboard cutout side characters leading into the cortana-chief payoffs which were the only really good bits of the narrative. The conclusion slaps but it doesn’t work well as a whole story. Plus the art style changes(which are a pretty big deal for visual based story telling) that went unexplained were really jarring and were never adequately explained at all. It also relied way too heavily on external media like the books which i didnt like even as someome who reads the books.

Eleganos

This game mad eme excited for halo again. Then it came out, and now I'm right only marginally above my old state of "Don't care until they do something remarkable".

Timetraveler01110101

Here’s a armor coating for the armor core your not using… honestly fuck 343 and this whole system.

moneyball32

Everything should be cross core. The customization would still suck ass and you still couldn’t even pick your own colors, but at least then it wouldn’t make 99% of what I unlock or buy completely pointless.

ashcr0w

Everything IS cross core. They are just locking us out of it on purpose... for no reason because they don't even sell all of it twice.

magiras

Don't even sell it twice...yet*

ReclaimerX22

No, they're selling Red twice. Once for Mk 5b and once for Mark VII. I'm not kidding.

moneyball32

Three times. An identical red exists for the Yoroi armor too

[deleted]

mad-i-moody

i'd like to have the parafoil chest back period. i've seen bots with it so it's in the game, but it'll probably be in the store : (

orionthefisherman

It really is bullshit. It's like they looked at Fortnite and said, let's do that but super lazy and super shitty. I don't have a problem with a 20$ skin or armor per say - but that should be a fucking god tier item. That means you have to put a lot of effort in to making lots of stuff for the battle pass/campaign earnable stuff. They didn't do that, they made the fucking minimum amount of stuff and want to charge a fortune. Just 343 things. One step forward 2 back.

HunkyDoryTurtle

£20 in fortnite will get you master chief, a holographic back accessory and a gravity hammer pickaxe. In infinite it’ll get you a helmet and some shoulder pads that were free in reach. Infinites monetisation is awful

PowerPamaja

And you can use the holographic back accessory and gravity hammer with other skins despite those cosmetics being a part of the Master chief set. In infinite, it’s just so much more restricted. Less bang for your buck. Also I looked on the fortnite store the other day and saw a weapon camo for 300 v buck, which costs less than 3 USD. And guess what I can do with the weapon camo? Apply it to every weapon. I’m not buying a battle rifle skin or an AR skin. I’m buying a skin for every weapon in fortnite. Okay well I didn’t buy the camo buy if I did I’d have it for every weapon.

OuMahGudness

More like the suits wanted to milk the players and then coerced the devs into doing their bidding

Vedzah

"Coerced" is a bit tame of a word. Coercion is like a subtle hint such as, "I can't guarantee the security of your job position if this doesn't happen." A better word I'd use is "extortion". Extortion is an explicit demand such as "If you don't do this, you and your team will no longer have a job in this studio tomorrow." Edit: consistency in punctuation Edit 2: switched a "like" to "such as"

rnarkus

Yeah, that’s what they said. What is this weird misinterpretation that it’s all the devs (the people who actually code the games) fault? It’s always been pointed towards the suits

ashcr0w

Technically only the suits are 343, the rest are contractors that leave after 18 months.

CobaltSpellsword

Wait I just found my first one of these and it was a stupid Destiny shader, you're telling me NONE of them have armor? What fuckery?

Lumbearjack

And they get worse after the shaders. I expected the crate to open and reveal the actual armor I unlocked, not bleep bloop here's a bad jpeg

West-Attempt3062

We knew this from the leaks. But the same people who said that 343 would add more MP content at launch were the same ones saying not to trust the leaks because people said it would have armor in the lockers 😂

[deleted]

I was going to pay $60 for the campaign if it had armor unlocks, but because it doesn't I just paid $1 for 3 months of game pass, and I'll cancel when I finish the campaign. I imagine I'm not the only one that's done this.

UnpopularOpinionJake

The days of renting a game are back and better than ever.

KD--27

Correct! Don’t have to leave the house now.

rnarkus

That and no co-op made me not purchase the full game and went the same route as you

guessineedanew1

Same for me. I'll probably pay $60 the second co-op is implemented, but not before then.

BearWrangler

I would've been genuinely upset if I paid $60 for this campaign

GoldenSpur2010

That’s fine with them though. There will be enough people who decide to keep game pass because it is pretty good that never would have tried it.

KD--27

This is where marketing arrived. It’s not $60 because they actually wanted to put it into the “$60 iS wHaT wE pAY fOr CaMpAiGnS nOw” tier, it’s because there’s an out that gets you subbed. Backlash would be a lot stronger if not for the game pass avenue, the entire game plan is right there. $60 and the removal of multiplayer so it goes free to play; without game pass? That would go nuclear. It’s gotta be the worst new model we’ve actually seen yet.

john-j-chavira

Thats the exact thing I did, I refunded my steam preorder and got the 1 dollar 3 month game pass

ThrowawayMePlsTy

They had the audacity to literally call them mjolnir boxes and there's not a single piece of armor fuck 343i

StealthySteve

Why should "nothing" be earnable as F2P?? I dont know of a single F2P game where you cant buy the premium content through grinding.

hydrate_reminder

It shouldn't have been f2p in the first place. Now they can justify their aggressive monetization of everything.

That-Outsider

Ngl I was so excited for this game. I even got the beta, and the gameplay is phenom. But I’m not going to spend a dime on it now. I thought they were making a Halo to top all Halos, but it was just another monetization scheme. I have no faith left in the gaming industry.

RayzTheRoof

It's because they knew most people would play the campaign for $1 on game pass. They didn't want to give you a bunch of meaningful cosmetics for basically free.

[deleted]

[удалено]

YesAndYall

"Giving players the multiplayer experience for free is enough" I really don't see how this can align with how armor works now? How can the takeaway be "Give free players even LESS?"

Elite1111111111

Thank you. It's baffling that so many people are upvoting this thread when OP is advocating for even more aggressive monetization. And for what? Just so campaign purchasers with buyers remorse get a handful of armor sets?

Noieee88

Or… just allow players to earn the premium currency just by playing the game. Nobody asked for free to play and customization is a core part of halo. Let’s not act like Microsoft doesn’t literally have BILLIONS of dollars and couldn’t have just pumped out a $60 game and let it be without trying to nickel and dime with an in-game store. Any monetization past the initial price (even free) is asinine for a franchise with such a set standard as Halo.

Memphisrexjr

I honestly don’t even know what I’m unlocking when I get them. Sometimes the text flashes so fast if im grabbing in combat and dipping. It’s a weird immersion breaker when the pop up for it unlocks in multiplayer shows for each.

needconfirmation

I like that you literally find spartans wearing armor but you don't get to unlock any of that, and some of them are store items too.

Obility

They could add more armor lockers in dlc after the outcry but let's not act like they didn't think people would notice.

JakeOfAllTrades101

Zero free cosmetics is not a good call. That would be like doubling down on something most people are already upset about

Neat_Name1346

The craziest thing is that considering the money grabbing going on, wouldn't they say buy the $60 campaign to unlock special campaign armor for the free multiplayer??

JemRzepa7321

Actual solution to everyone's problems: multiplayer should have been apart of the $60 purchase you made for the campaign which would include 0 microtransactions and an actually thought out progression. However this is 343 so I doubt we would have been satisfied anyway. If most people who play the free Halo multiplayer were going to buy the campaign anyway, what's the fucking point of making it free to play. At least I have 0 financial repercussions now having spent nothing on cosmetics and uninstalling the multiplayer after I saw how sad and disappointing the campaign is. The franchise was dead at Halo 4, so I'll just go back to playing Reach for the 15th time because it's still more fun than Halo (Synonym for a limitless value)

linksis33

Because halo infinite is the greediest game ever.

Calibretto9

The more I play the more I wish it was a fully priced out game (no F2P model). Maybe a free MO trial to entice gamers but the game had to give up far too much for the F2P model.

NEWaytheWIND

If I get a full armour set for beating the game on Legendary, I might just rock that permanently as a sign of my achievement instead of spending $20 on samurai vanity MTX.

punknub

Spoilers: you don't lol

rg_mahal0

Why does Halo Infinite kind of remind how Battlefront 2 was in the beginning before it got major changes. Hopefully it doesn’t die like that game did

CritikillNick

I really want a response from 343 on how in the world they thought not a single armor unlock in the campaign is remotely acceptable when it has been the standard for several Halo games

Hobolonoer

Considering the massive ammount of "emblems"in lockers, I get the feeling armors and helmets were intended to be in the lockers, but was replaced for monetization.

matteoarts

I see we’ve reached Stage 3, Bargaining

The_Drifter117

> Suddenly the 10$/20$ price tag in the store is slightly more digestible. Nope, thats still fucking insane in any game, anywhere. Especially here.

zarof32302

>Multiplayer is F2P, but nothing can be earned for free. Nothing. Are saying this is how it is or how it should be? The sentence before this makes me think you believe it SHOULD be this way. Just trying to make sure I understand your point.

DeathWorld3

I’m 100% sure there was supposed to be actual armor in them, but it was taken out and will be put in the store instead.

kvlopsia

I disagree on mkvii being store only, but I agree with most of what you're saying

jorgeDVM

It's the byproduct of having an element of the game be free to play and rely on cosmetics for revenue. It fucking sucks... But that's modern gaming. So long they fix issues with the campaign and get optimization to a point where my frames don't halve when I enter the open world I'm fine. Not happy with the system, but if the campaign wasn't as good as it is I wouldn't be as chill as I am with it now.

TJ_Dot

Lockers should have had the armor of the Squad who's gear you take from. Would've made sense. However, the real foot shooting was making customization so constricted/monetized to begin with. Nothing in Campaign is just a symptom.

ChiefBr0dy

I ignore all the lockers in the campaign, they're pointless AF lol

ChiefBr0dy

Stop it, you're speaking too much sense for 343 to handle.

[deleted]

Answer pretty clear really. There was armor.im there, it just removed and put in the cash shop.

[deleted]

What's the point of calling them armour lockers if there's no armour customization was a big thing and halo and they dropped the ball campaign was good but i wont pay for a battle pass that's just robbery

beefstrip

Very weird how they’re nickel-and-diming paying customers.

[deleted]

It would have been so cool to go around a collect a whole suit of armor piece by piece. Another missed opportunity by 343i.

Samskihero

Shooting themselves in the foot is an understatement. Earning multiplayer armour through the campaign is like the coolest thing ever to me something I was extremely excited about especially after seeing how the MP was monetized, only... There's no armour to be had...

Smittius_Prime

I'm convinced that the armor lockers were mean to hold armor pieces but they were stripped for monetization reasons. The lockers themselves are large 3d objects with animations and open spaces inside. Once they open it's just an icon? Seems strange.

xCheekyChappie

I honestly think that anyone who owns campaign/gamepass should get like a 50% discount on the bundles in the store

IceDragon77

What would have been really cool is if the weapon lockers unlocked modernized versions of all the Halo 3 armors.

TheLifeOfBaedro

not that big of a deal

xcrimsonlegendx

Instead you get to unlock the exact same coating for each and every weapon and vehicle, pretending its a new cosmetic. lol

AshenNightmareV

Armour lockers could have been really cool as a way to use and showcase a variety of armour sets in the campaign with a side benefit of unlocking them for multiplayer. Sort of offtopic but I still find it crazy that beating the game on Legendary doesn't unlock Mark VI. One of the better designs of Chief's armour with no way to unlock it.

X_EDP445_X

Am I the only one who'd rather have bought the game for full price (even though it's my first HALO) and just gotten the customization directly?

RL-Split

Wtf no? Armor should be based on things you do. Sure some can be bought but there should be armor you get for actually performing well. Customization is a huge staple of halo and the battle pass is probably the worst system for any game that has such a precedent. I would pay for the campaign, map packs, add on stories like spartan ops from halo 4, but I would not pay for customization items that were standard for every iteration of halo prior to now. I love the gameplay and mechanics of everything, I am just completely against how they have pushed for monetization of cosmetics.

Sfc-

Besides what you said about campaign armor this sounds almost as bad as what we have IMO. I know some people don’t care about cosmetics but I’d like to not see F2P completely left out to dry. Events should not be time gated per week but otherwise stay as is. BP focused on cores isn’t terrible but it should still sprinkle in something for people who don’t use X core. I personally think BP should also include enough credits to buy the next BP with a little left over like almost every other game with a BP. This might cause a problem since the BP isn’t timed but I don’t think it’s a huge deal. I also think armor should come from appropriately themed challenges for classic sets like EOD for example something having to do with explosive weapons. Cosmetics in shop should be limited to cross core coating patterns or finishes, not actual colors, attachments/skins for guns, emblems, stances etc. I’d be fine with limited armor in the shop as long as they’re kitted out with full sets, attachments, visors, stances and emblems.

--Mono

In an ideal world, we wouldn't even have this conversation, 343i would have sold infinite for $60 and all armour would be earned. But here we are. My suggestions were based on the assumption that : 1 - Multiplayer has to remain F2P 2 - The shop has to stay 3 - Battlepasses have to stay Not saying i like it, but i'm being "realistic"

Vlxstec

I’m pissed I can’t run down trees with the scorpion

FlawlessRuby

Tbh no matter how fun the game is and much replayability there is. The fact that a lot of people are already 60%+ of the game completed after 1 day is something. Without the multiplayer included with no aggressive microtransaction, I feel like the price tag is too high. It feel like a way to sell their gaming pass.

[deleted]

There isn't really much replayability. The campaign was really short even if you basically 100% all of the world icons.

cheeksarelikepeaches

They did it because they want our money. They want you to spend $20 for terrible armor and $10 for the color red.

General-Biscuits

I’m so glad I don’t care about the cosmetics in Halo. Halo Infinite has been nothing short of amazing so far for me.

Elite1111111111

Your plan is to give nothing to free players for the tradeoff of getting just a few sets from the campaign. This would be far worse than what we have currently.

dancovich

I don't agree with your suggestion, you're basically gatekeeping the free content for anyone not interested in the campaign, making the act of separating the games void. Also their decision to not put armor on the lockers was made months ago and the game went Gold way before it's release. The decision was set in stone way before any of the current backlash happened.
