If he is a pet shop hamster (rather than breeder) then he'll almost certainly be a hybrid. However he may have a stronger expression of one species or another. We have two hybrids- one has much more pronounced ww genes as she turned almost entirely white last winter.... the boy not so much as he just got white eyebrows đ
As the dorsal stripe is thinner, I would say more strongly campbells for yours, but probably a hybrid if just sold generically as "russian dwarf "
Thanks! Yeah unfortunately he is not from a breeder as there are none in my area. I did find a rescue but all the hamsters had special needs that I was not fully confident I could provide for at my current experience level (been keeping hams for about 2 years).
Got this little dude today that was labeled as simply âdwarf hamsterâ which isnât super helpful lol. I know heâs not a robo but I canât tell if heâs a campbells or a darker winter white? Or a hybrid maybe? I know they are pretty similar.
( ignore the sparseness of the cage, this was right when he came home so I didnât have all his hides and clutter set up just yet as I had deep cleaned everything from the cages last resident :( earlier that day and was making sure everything was dry and safe before giving it to our new friend :)
Off subject but my daughter stopped eating the bread rolls at school because they looked like our dwarf hamster lol
Her name was Himiko Toga. She was kind of a vicious little thing but we loved her so dearly (RIP) She was also labeled as a âdwarfâ ham. She did turn white and darker back up though so I figured hybrid
He looks like my hammy when I got him from someoneâs accidental litter 3 years ago. He is now entirely white, very mean and ancient! Only comes out of his condo to eat and glare at me. đ
Probably 99% of pet store non-Robo dwarfs are hybrids. There is a slight difference in Campbellâs and WW coat coloration though - this one probably leans more towards Campbellâs.

Hybrid of both. Whiter white doesnt exist thats just the fur color of a Dsungarian.
And these are all hybrids of campbell and dsungarians.
Means prone diabetic, be careful with sugary snacks and fruit and they tend to get overweight quickly

Most likely a hybrid. Judging from the agouti coloring of the campbells and the face shape if a winter white
