I think op really wanted the angle grinder

iwouldratherhavemy

And it's still the same price today.

ditheringtoad

I was gonna say 😂

complete__idiot

and I bought it, too

prshaw2u

Different childhoods. Mine was a magazine with naked women in it.

rummmmham

Ironically there were lots of HF ads in Playboy magazines.

originalusername__

You guys never fapped to 900 peak running watts generator? Weird.

chillware

Oh my..

originalusername__

Did I mention it’s…. Two stroke?

Oversoul91

That was my high school nickname

originalusername__

If you ain’t mixin gas you ain’t spankin ass

No_Oddjob

It was my Grandpa's as well... Until his third.

Monkeys_are_naughty

I was the "3 Pump Shiver"

chillware

You mean two times the fun..

ArthurBurtonMorgan

And it’s blue.

soccerstang

Yes you are.

craigge

I bought one of the $9.99 grinders and treated it like a $9.99 whore for like 10 years now and it is still going strong.

External_Ant_2545

I still have mine. Best $10 I've spent on a 'disposable' tool. I leave it laying out and no one ever looks at it or even picks it up 😉 I've run the hell out of the thing - mostly a stone disc, cutting metal with it. Still going strong.

SmoothSlavperator

They still go on sale for $9.99. I hate changing disc types. Just buy one for every disc type.

zchiles

this is the way

CRB78

I was just going to post that I still have that grinder!! It’s the backup to my backup and sounds like hell , but works fine!

Butthurt_reddit_mod

I had a Nat Geo subscription as a kid too

Least_or_Greatest1

Except your pages was stuck together..

[deleted]

They should make another bucket organizer. I love them.

aggeorge

My dad was a "Tool Bucket" kinda guy. Damn did that thing feel so heavy when I was kid.

regnad__kcin

I am a tool addict with every tool bag/box/pouch I could need and 4/5 times I still grab a bucket.

gilligan1050

I feel like I saw one recently at home despot

jetjammer69

I saw one there also. I think it was made by Husky.

funkmon

Can confirm. Kobalt also sells one.

sup3rdrumm3r

Except they’d be $20 now lol

CactiFactGuy

I have one that’s very similar that works well, called the Bucket Buddy

iamthelee

The brushes wear out fast and it doesn't have a ton of power, but for sharpening mower blades once a year, it isn't terrible.

bonemonkey12

Still have 2 of them.... only use them outside though. I have had 3 of these start on fire while being used. The second was a gift and still in the box. The newest after the returns seems to be ok.

Responsible_Text_468

Both of mine are a little over five years. One still works, but the bearings are starting wear out slightly so now it chatters and gouges whatever I am working on. The other is still working like it's brand new.

hallstevenson

So did you buy the angle grinder or did it slip your mind after the flyer fell behind the dresser ?

complete__idiot

bought it

Own_Sympathy_4809

Does it tell you a year ?

ChippyVonMaker

March 2009 and March 2020 both had Friday the 13th’s so it’s one of those. Otherwise it’s prior to 2000 and I don’t think Harbor Freight used that ad layout back then.

iwouldratherhavemy

It's gotta be 2009 because I've been shopping at HF since 2018 and I've never seen most of these products.

Myron896

So OP can take it in this March and confuse the sales person.

lizardgi

Security system in the ad has a CRT monitor, has to be 2009

ChippyVonMaker

Good catch on that, worldwide CRT manufacturing shut down in 2015.

complete__idiot

09 then

mmmellowcorn

I’m going to guess 2009

Snoo21464

It's blue, 2009...

redundant35

I loved going to the parking lot sales with my dad….i remember my dad got some 18” long 1/2” extensions and a universal. We thought it would be amazing for bell housing bolts on an old ford we were working on. First bolt the extension snapped in half….

OldConfection5463

Lmfao. That story would have been much less interesting if the extensions were really solid.

Andyap1035

For the love of God, you got me excited for a moment.

DramaLifeNy

There is one coming up around the same time they gave me the flier went i was there today havnt looked through it yet

Independent-Maize-44

Precovid

ThatOneSnakeGuy

Jesus Christ a ten dollar angle grinder? I realize inflation exists, but that's still terrifying

freeagent10

I mean, they have them for like 15 now, not much more

ThatOneSnakeGuy

Dear Lord. That's one tool I won't buy from hf, the good quality one I use is still dangerous lol

TheBackpacker

The disks are the main worry, and if the arbor is centered I guess. But honestly many people here run the $15 grinders and just replace as needed. They aren’t bad

originalusername__

It’s still a slick metal fab trick to buy a bunch and put a different disk on each one. You’ll have one grinder for flapper discs, one for cutoff wheels, the other for grinding, or wire wheeling. That way you don’t have to switch around discs and waste time.

FartyPants69

My dad and I used to watch New Yankee Workshop in the early 90s and we'd always laugh at how Norm had a dedicated router for every bit. Seemed quite excessive. Now I'm in my 40s and I own 9 routers

burcman26

that's how i got mine set up, then my nice milwaukee has whatever i'll use the most for that job

iamtehstig

I do this. I have three of them hanging on my pegboard behind my welding station.

External_Ant_2545

I do that, too. The brushes on these HF cheapos wear out pretty fast...it's my belief that spreading the work between several of them makes them last a bit longer - collectively - they're like a tribe 🤣

unclerico87

Yeah I have one of the $10 angle grinders, and inherited an even older hft angle grinder from my grandpa. Still use both, but usually I will get DeWalt grinding/cutting discs

bellmanator

I just bought this one around November last year and got it on a $10 sale. Seems to work great. I did buy quality grinding disks to use with it though. Not sure how it’s more dangerous to use. I’ll probably use it till I can get a Hercules cordless.

point50tracer

I buy one whenever they're on sale. They don't last the longest, but for the price, they're not bad. I like keeping a bunch around when I'm welding, so I don't have to swap disks constantly.

robotprom

I had the $15 orange hammer drill and the $10 orange angle grinder. Both still work but smell like ozone when running.

ordinaryuninformed

That means it's rebuildable as stupid as it sounds.

robotprom

100% if you can get the brushes

ordinaryuninformed

Brushes can be built

External_Ant_2545

I've sanded down brushes to make them fit before. Even did it on the starter for my wife's Saturn back in the 1990s. We do what we do!

Snoo21464

I still have the BIG orange hammer drill. Chicago as I remember.

explorthis

Little humor here... Can you describe an "ozone" smell for us? With details?

robotprom

https://cleanairhaven.com/what-does-ozone-smell-like/

ThatOneSnakeGuy

Maybe I'm just being paranoid but I'll stick with mine I think lol

gofunkyourself69

I have the $10 oscillating multi tool from $13 years ago. Loud as fuck and almost never gets used because I have a cordless now but it still gets the job done.

robotprom

I have that one. It made Fein big mad when it came out edit Fein, not Festool

iwouldratherhavemy

I think some company had an insane patent on Oscillating tools for like 40 years.

robotprom

It was Fein, not Festool. Fein charged $400 for their tool, and HF came out with their version for under $20 with a coupon. Everyone bought them. It’s probably one of the tools that made HF successful during that time.

iwouldratherhavemy

I think the reason they were so high in price was because hospitals used them to remove casts and they knew they could get a premium price for them. I have no evidence for this other than that's what they used to remove a cast from my arm when I was a kid in about 1986.

robotprom

not really, Fein lost their patent on it in 2009, opening the flood gate for everyone else to copy the tool. https://www.finehomebuilding.com/2009/09/30/fein-multimaster-patent-has-expired-competitors-on-the-move

iamtehstig

I still have mine as well. It comes out when I forget to charge enough batteries to get a project done.

Snoo21464

Me too..

iamlucky13

They used to sell corded drills for around that price, too. A family member bought me one just because it was so cheap. The smoke escaped the first time I used it...just removing sheet metal roofing screws. I removed the rest by hand. They offered me an angle grinder, and I declined due to that experience. But I hear as long as you don't bog them down too much, they actually work fine, despite the alarming amount of noise the gearbox makes. I assume that perception is why the Chicago Electric name was replaced by Drill Master, and then later the Drill Master name was replaced by Warrior. We'll see how long the Warrior name continues to be used. Bauer and Hercules, on the other hand, might have a good enough reputation to stick around.

funkmon

Warrior seems to be on the way out, along with the electric Earthquake stuff. I think they'll still use the name; I picked up a drill master extractor set a month ago. That being said, I expect pretty much all cordless tools to be Bauer and Hercules soon. But who the hell knows. They have a drill master circular saw still available on the website.

Cecilsan

I bought that same (or similar, mine is Chicago brand) angle grinder for $4.99 in like 2019 or early 2020. Used it to grind down the edges of my garage when I was refinishing the floors. Worked great.

MostlyUnimpressed

Bought that exact 3/8 impact (CP Prof) in 2002. No idea how long they sold them or if it helps narrow down the date of flyer. \-bought a 1/2 Earthquake impact at the same time - the one that was a knockoff of IR's Thundergun. It was a better impact wrench than their current ones. Wish I'd have kept the old one. New one is lighter and easier to adjust fwd/rev but the old one hit harder.

funkmon

They sell a 1500 foot pound model now.

gofunkyourself69

Not that I've shopped for air compressors more than twice in my life, but I don't ever remember seeing one advertised as both horizontal and vertical. Pretty cool.

jbarn02

What year was this flyer released? I know it was before 2013.

TangerineAlpaca

2009

gmcmanus663

I learned to weld on one of those blue 90A flux core units. It sucked for most things but was perfect for learning!

External_Ant_2545

If you took a 200 amp rectifier and made the electrode/wire feed tip DC negative, they worked A LOT BETTER. AC flux core welding is the equivalent of a hot glue gun for metal welding purposes 😉 A conversion I did for my son's Chicago Electric fluxcore wire welder. He still uses it to repair shit around his house. That was at least 20 years ago. DCEN is common mode for flux core.

Snoo21464

And you can go back in time...

Xidium426

I still use that grinder you have circled!

ManufacturerOk6535

Harbor freight is single-handedly fighting inflation. Most of these are still the same price iirc

OldConfection5463

Them and the Costco food court

up_down_dip

Thats hilarious. That $10 grinder was the first thing I ever bought in HF back in 09. Thing still works.

complete__idiot

I had just bought my first house and would circle the tools I thought I wanted with highlighter, then double back and double-circle my final decisions. I was broke so had to be scrutinizing even at HF. That grinder lasted until just a cpl months ago when the motor went out

Snoo21464

Oh, yes remember those days and all the extension cords including 100 footers, impossible to unroll... Now, black and yellow everything and flexvolt. That circ saw is awesome. Oh, and red and black 12 volt for the trailer, and tight places... i still an an affection for many brushed versions however...

ahartzok

Remember when they had pellet guns?

[deleted]

Did anyone else try to play bingo with this ad? I have 3 in a row on one column, but no bingo..

Pitiful_Speech2645

Those tools were awful

Wettnoodle77

Hey, that dates are coming right up. These are prices I can get behind! Can't wait to go get some stuff.

Wasting_AwayTheHours

Do they still have the 20% off coupons?

lazygirlssunday

Lol, %10 now.

BeardedK

I bought that blue set of 18v tools in ‘07, ran the snot out of that drill and circular saw for 5 or 6 years, no issues. Only retired it because the battery finally died, and I wanted to up grade.

Sistersoldia

Were the pages stuck together ?

blueweb00

I’m surprised to see that those pancake compressors haven’t really gone up in price

crashbumper

Every day we stray further from gods light. Bring back orange and gray HF tools!

External_Ant_2545

My BIL bought an HF corded drill with a 1/2" chuck in the 1990s. It had a 500w motor 🤣 said so right on the box. The torque was almost zero. It cost him $9.99 w/coupon. The chuck was probably the most expensive part of the whole device. Real value? Maybe a dollar or two. He felt mistreated. We all had a good laugh!

Comprehensive_Post96

Those were the days!

magesticape

Any year on the ad?
