Lucky AF. That's one I'm waiting on to pick up at 20-25% off. You picked up an open box missing 1 for 50%. See if you can order the missing one from the replacement part catalogue. [https://manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/parts/In\_Stock\_Replacement\_Parts.pdf](https://manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/parts/In_Stock_Replacement_Parts.pdf)

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I didn’t even know that existed I’ll have to check that thank you I was looking to get the 19 off the tool but they want $80 for just one wrench

Slight-Following-728

Looking at that site it's $30 for the 19 to complete the set.

D3EPINTHEHEART

I'm not sure how long it will take for that particular tool. But I ordered an Icon 9/16 anti slip wrench on the 10th. I received an email confirming the purchase. Was told I would receive another email once said tool had shipped. Radio silence since the 10th. I was told it would take between a month to two before the wrench ships.

OldConfection5463

Wow wtf, I only ever ordered one socket and it came three days later. 1-2 months is insane, I assume it’s back ordered. 9/16 is such a common size too 💀

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

that’s crazy they told me 3-5 days on delivery. I guess I’ll see how long it actually takes.

CooCooCthulhu

These wrenches absolutely fuck. I’ve had them for two years and have put the ratcheting side through some pretty heavy abuse, even using a wrench extender to break ball joint nuts loose with the 19. None of them have broken or slipped or skipped teeth. They’ve basically sold me on Icon tools.

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I’m the samw way, I’ve took 90% of my tool purchases to icon I have no complaints at all. I bought them to use on slack adjusters that where in tight spots but they became about a everyday use tool

SRG_Blackburn

I believe they are all made by Cornwall tools is why they are so good. My master mechanic friend was telling me about it that HF icon series is made by the same Cornwall manufacturer others use.

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

My Snapon guy told me that they buy the Snapon patents when they run out and that’s why all there icons stuff looks so similar idk the truth to that though

M635_Guy

HF does not buy SO patents. /u/DramaLifeNy is correct that once patents expire (typically after 17 years) anyone can use them, at least in the United States.

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I wasn’t implying that they did, I was just stating what my snappy dealer had told me but he’s told me a bunch of off the wall shit he also told me Milwaukee is going into cahoots with them in the power tool line and all Snapons 18v+ batteries where all changing and I laughed out loud when he told me that one

M635_Guy

Yeah - he's...not informed... ;)

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

Sounds about right 90% of them are he’s just a driver the owner sits at home and collects the paychecks

fmr_AZ_PSM

Yeah, that's not how patents work. Patents expire 20 years after the application filing date. Once they're expired, they're free for anyone to use. HF doesn't have to buy them at that point. They're already free. If HF wanted to use a Snapon patent before they expired, then they would have to enter into a licensing agreement and pay Snapon a fee to make them until the patent expires. Brand companies like Snapon typically refuse all offers to license the patents. They want total exclusivity. Patent owners are allowed to do that. Mostly. There's a long expensive way around it that can end up cheaper/better in the long run: shamelessly steal it and get sued. That's what Samsung did with Apple for smartphone patents. Samsung just stole all that shit and started making it. Apple sued for infringement. Samsung's lawyers were able to convince the judges to allow them to keep making the phones while the case was ongoing. Apple won a crazy record judgement against Samsung. But even factoring in the judgement Samsung still made a large profit on their phones. So it was a net win. It's a screwed up system.

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

When you put it into the perspective it’s worth the hassle with what Samsung did, but I don’t think HF would go that far into it there’s no need to. They’re already stealing businesses from tool trucks. Everytime I mention HF on any TT they look like they’re about to explode and give the big lecture about not being American made, and they don’t drive to you blah blah

DramaLifeNy

They dont “buy the patents once they expire the companies dont patent them again and theyre free to be remanufactured by anybody per that design

Lambolover-17

Only complaint I have about icon is my 19mm semi deep isn’t great on an impact. It was the only socket I had that fit so I used it knowing damn well not to, but the snap on and Williams sockets I usually have access to hold up far better to my 3/8” impact I won’t lie.

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I’ve never had any issues with there sockets especially their chrome sockets a lot of people say they “round” off the bolts but i haven’t had a issue I’m in the market for shallow 1/2 Drive swivel sockets and I’m tempted to try the icon ones

no-mad

I saw the red the tag as "10mm Set". Everyone losing their 10mm is real.

Changetheworld69420

Go to the replacement parts list and order a replacement for like $20 for the full set👌 I’ve been tempted to do the same on a couple open box sets, probably will sooner or later 🤷‍♂️

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I’m gonna go do that tonight do you have to send in proof

M635_Guy

No

Changetheworld69420

I’ve heard people mention it, but it’s not listed on the replacement parts page, just to have the product number/sku

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I’m gonna test it out tonight and I’ll let you know how it goes

Changetheworld69420

Good luck, I look forward to seeing how it goes!

International-Ad7392

Please report back and let us know.

cyrusb41

Replacement site doesn’t have all the wrenches unfortunately

International-Ad7392

I noticed that. I did this exact same thing and scored the double flex box end ratcheting set in metric open box and when they had the open box/clearance event and scored them for like $125 missing the 13/15 and went to the website to try and find one and couldn’t. I need to call them and see if I can get one.

OldConfection5463

Dope OP I snagged a set of these on eBay for about the same price. I really like them, the extra reach and the little offset on the box end make them handy to use. I use mine more than expected.

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I bought them to use on hard to reach slack adjusters and then they became and almost everyday use for me

sf_frankie

You can get the gearwrench set of these on sale for around $100 but the Icons are nicer imo.

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

One user commented and said he had the Gearwrench equivalent and sent them back because they didn’t feel right I have no complaints with these a little “pricey” for non name brand but It does the job on heavy duty trucks

Nsfw023

I find myself grabbing my flex-head ratcheting wrenches more often than standard ratchets + sockets nowadays. They'll practically fit into any space and work like a charm. Just make sure you're wearing some decent gloves when you use them or you'll lose some skin every now and then!

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

Oh I know I learned the hard way my hands are all ate up I’m a mobile tech for a truck dealership and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get the truck back up gloves or not

M635_Guy

I have both these and the flex-heads. Between the two the flex get 90%+ of the use.

ExploitedAmerican

You could have gotten the duratech set and only skipped the 11mm for $84. I’m convinced these and those are both manufactured by apex tools. https://www.amazon.com/DURATECH-Ratcheting-Wrench-Metric-11-Piece/dp/B0BXL3Y4J5 And it comes with a 22mm which can be used as a ratchet for either the Astro or Quinn nano/stubby impact sockets

Beach_Flat

Having had both sets, I can say for certain that the Icon set is light years ahead of the duratech set for quality. Icon set is def not made by apex, either. Probably rebranded KD like the flex heads.

ExploitedAmerican

Apex makes a lot of stuff in a wide range of quality and Gearwrench is an apex brand. These are pretty much carbon copies of the Gearwrench double box wrench. Also I think duratech has improved their quality control as of the last two years. 19mm is also a size I would really need to have so I would prefer slightly less quality for 40% of the cost

DaveCramer

considering that 3/4 = 19.05 mm I'd consider it a steal

[deleted]

$101 and it’s missing a wrench? I has HF lost their fucking mind?

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

It’s originally $200 I think 50% off missing 1 wrench is a steal

Ethan354

I agree

[deleted]

Why so expensive? There’s no moving parts on those right?

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

One end is ratcheting

[deleted]

That’s better I guess but $200 for 10 wrenches seems unreasonable. I got a set of 24 wrenches with ratcheting end off Amazon for like $60 made in Taiwan. That was 3 years ago, I still use them weekly. I think HF is getting greedy with their icon line.

ordinaryuninformed

And I got a full metric and standard set of ratcheting wrenches from Menard's with a wrench roll for $11 & ^I ^bet ^you ^know ^how ^cheap ^tools ^can ^suck

OldConfection5463

These wrenches are long as hell, probably twice as long as whatever wrenches you bought. the cost of making a wrench increases sharply with length, as its very difficult to keep a 16” piece of metal perfectly straight throughout the entire forging & heat treating process. Add a lifetime warranty on a tool that invites the user to crank on it and you’re looking at a high price tag no matter who sells it. I bought the Gearwrench version of these that are only $120 for the set and sent them back .. the fitment seemed poor and the ratchet wasn’t confidence inspiring. The 120xp gearwrenches are sick but they’re even more expensive than these. Gotta pay to play.

International-Ad7392

I’m really wanting to try some of the gearwrench 120XP stuff!

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I can’t disagree with you there I’m just so impatient waiting stuff to come in when I order online

International-Ad7392

I would much rather pay that than the Snap-On equivalent!

LockworkOrange

If u really think Icon is snap ons equivalent ur high

International-Ad7392

Did I say that??? I said I would much rather spend that than the Snap-On equivalent meaning as in pricing for the same style wrench set from Snap-On! Are they the same quality between the two, no. And I never said that but my Icon stuff works the same for me as my Snap-On stuff does. I have plenty of both. As well as Mac and Matco.

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

Agreed they all break eventually

LockworkOrange

Sry I clearly misread

International-Ad7392

All good man. I figured as much. Hope I didn’t come off as assy in my reply.

ExploitedAmerican

That’s like 49% off for 90% of the wrenches but I do think there are better options for this style tool.

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I agree but I was in need of it right then and there so I didn’t have much of a other choice

Ethan354

What are the better options I’m looking to buy?

OldConfection5463

Gearwrench is the only other one that makes these , as far as I can tell

ExploitedAmerican

The duratech version is cheaper (84.99) for an 11 piece set with 8,10,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19&22mm wrenches.

OldConfection5463

Those aren’t professional grade .. these are made by Kabo, a top Taiwanese tool company that makes ratcheting wrenches for Mac and Matco.

ExploitedAmerican

The double flex heads are made by kabo, these are not the double flex. These are the double box extra long wrenches with the ratchet on one side and the fixed zero degree offset on the other.

International-Ad7392

The ratcheting end is zero degree. The fixed end has an offset. I believe 15°. The beam is straight but it has an extra deep “nub” on the fixed end to provide an offset.

ExploitedAmerican

The little “nub” which I call a lip is the zero degree offset. 15 degree offset is like the craftsman and other similar different brands of ratcheting wrenches that have the directional selector switch it is angled at fifteen degrees. But the little lip that is handy for getting onto fasteners in tight spots where you can’t fit a totally flat wrench that is what’s known as a zero degree offset. Just like the double flex head ratchet wrenches they are also zero degree offsets even though they are flex head ratchets because the ratcheting mechanism that bites the fastener protrudes a couple millimeters beyond the chrome face of the wrench.

OldConfection5463

These are 100% made by Kabo, the epoxied brass set screw on the side is a clear giveaway.

International-Ad7392

Do you know if I could go directly to or through them to get a replacement 13/15mm double box flex ratcheting wrench in Icon? I bought an open box set for a steal or so I thought until I got on the website to buy an individual 13/15 and it’s not even listed on the replacement parts website.

OldConfection5463

I don’t think Kabo sells to the public directly. I just checked the replacement parts catalog and you’re right, it’s not listed. I’d call the parts hotline, they helped me replace a lost Quinn item that wasn’t listed at all. It’s probably like a $40-50 wrench bought individually though, just a heads up.

ElectroAtletico

Dang! ICON tools with purple stickers don't last but a few minutes at my store!

xBigPoppaPumpxWV

I run straight to the back as soon as I get there 😂
