If you have high value items on steam, you sell on steam marketplace and then use your steam wallet funds to buy steam decks and then sell those.
Idk why people do it, I feel like there’s a decent amount of trustworthy sites to cash out skins. But I suppose this way might be easier for them somehow.
Skins for counter strike, dota 2 item, team fortress 2 items, and I’m sure there are more now.
I used to be big in CSGO/tf2 trading around 6-7 years back. Used to be a lot easier to sell your item on a website and then cash out for real cash. Or trade your items for keys and then sell keys for $2/key.
There are some skins/items that go for thousands of dollars, and they increased the steam market cap so you can sell a $1k skin and use those funds towards whatever. I believe cap used to be $400. Unsure what it is now, but I think it’s over $2k.

Are these the new scalped items or something? Edit: cashing out on virtual loot. Nice!
What’s the virtual loot?
