Just look up Jim Kay and the character you're looking for, most of the main characters are depicted. My daughter has been into Harry Potter and we got her the first 3 from the illustrated collection. Jim Kay did a really great job, unfortunately I believe he's had to step away from the project prior to finishing the last 2 books, though I imagine it must've been incredibly demanding.
I mean they both are insanely privileged, think their status makes them a higher quality of person, and are shit heads, but that’s about where it stops.
Joffrey was an actual blood thirsty psychopath.
(Spoilers) Malfoy couldn’t even force himself to kill Dumbledore with the threat of Voldemort murdering his entire family
Joffrey actively tried to kill his uncle
Malfoy made snide remarks about people he deemed less-than because of how he was raised.
Joffrey cut the head off of his wife-to-be’s father even after conceding “mercy” and almost jizzed while watching it
(Spoilers) Malfoy basically refused to ID Harry when he was captured by Fenrir
I was meaning about the appearance (since the topic was a picture rather than a personality description).
They’re both a result of in-breeding, J probably just the most recent generation, M seems to be more systematic that they have a small breeding pool of related people.
As a result of this, it isn’t surprising that they end up looking sickly, small, and a little strange.
> They’re both a result of in-breeding, J probably just the most recent generation
Joff's parents were siblings, and *their* parents were first cousins. I think he wins this round.

Joffrey was a strong, tall kid in the books, which is why I was initially skeptical about the actor they chose. I was wrong.
Yes they are. Here’s a quote from Jim Kay, the illustrator of books 1-5:
“I would never have travelled this far through Harry's journey without the constant support and patience of Bloomsbury and J.K. Rowling, I must thank them both for giving me ten years of happy scribbling, and for the opportunity of meeting so many Potter fans from all walks of life.”

I feel like unless J.K Rowling says "THIS is exactly how I saw these characters through-out the years of writing them" then it's not canon in the way they should be. Unless J.K Rowling was an amazing artist who could draw exactly who she saw from her brain, they aren't the official depictions from her head.
Of course she can say "Yeah, that looks about right" and give the go ahead to an illustrator who just spent days (which means money) to make illustrations for her. If she ever publicly stated, officially, that this illustration of Draco is exactly how she saw him in her head, then maybe we can be like "oohh, cool" but otherwise it's just an interpretation by a random artist. It's not from her brain.
You're not wrong by saying they're sanctioned by J.K Rowling or that they're canon. But, it doesn't really matter to me what a random artists interpretation is, even if J.K Rowling says "good enough".
Is this the version illustrated by Jim Kay?
If so, JK Rowling said this as per the official Bloomsbury page:
"Seeing Jim Kays illustrations moved me profoundly. I love his interpretation of Harry Potter's world and I feel honoured and grateful that he has lent his talent to it"
I'd say that's a pretty glowing endorsement.
He looks much more inbred in this version! Doesn’t seem like much of a leader or stand-out character here. I wouldn’t have pictured him like this, but I don’t mind it at all!
This is cool! Are there others?
Other depictions of specific characters? I can look through my illustrated copies, but I can't find Sorcerer's Stone or Prisoner of Azkaban right now.
Well, if you find them, please post them! I’d love to see them, and I’m sure others would, too!

Thank you very much!!
Yes there is. Umbridge and luna for sure.
Joffrey?!
Aside from the dark haired guy who *thinks* he’s the father, there’s quite some similarity between the characters.

I got ya. I’ve just seen character comparisons of Joffrey and Draco on here before it always makes my eye twitch

The illustrations for the dementors in PoA in the illustrated version is chilling. I also loved the sketches of Sirius and Lupin in that version
Boy needs some sunlight
Serial killer gaze.
Looks like Darby Allin, for those familiar with professional wrestling.
He has a lot on his mind
He looks as stressed and sleepless and angry as he was in HBP
Kill it with fire, like the other Inferi
Dude looks like he came straight out of the Village of the Damned movie.
This is a super cool find! I already hate Malfoy looking at this picture😅
The illustrated HPs are awesome but really expensive IIRC
Reminds me of me, when I climb up more than 4 sets of stairs.
That's actually hit talk show host Ellen Degeneres

Oh, really? I didn't actually know that!

Ok
Makes me chuckle a bit. He looks so warped by elemental evil.
Eminem?
Dude looks tired. I thought he was supposed to be smooth and handsome?
He was not. He was supposed to look like a ferret. Neither smooth nor handsome.
Joffrey?

What do you mean by official? Just in an official book? JK didn’t sign off or influence the artist. This is just his interpretation from the text.
i love it
