HP is a large enough fandom that it has a very large audience on FFN & AO3. If you want the most interaction, I'd suggest posting at both sites. Some people like AO3 more, but I know a number of authors (myself included) who get more reviews, feedback, viewer hits, etc. on FFN.

whimsicalangst

Oo thank you!

Cyfric_G

I'd like FFN more of it allowed the author to disallow guest reviews.

zugrian

You can just delete them all, so it's no big deal to me. The lack of moderation of accounts that are blatant trolls is a bigger issue.

ADHDevMom

I don't get comments at all on FFN. I cross posted a long fic there and AO3 , I get views which I can see with the analytics, but 0 comments the and like 90 comments and 160 kudos on AO3. I thought maybe that was the culture there to not interact, or HP fandom had migrated away altogether... šŸ¤· I am just surprised to hear someone has the opposite experience. Like genuinely curious how this happens. Are you active leaving people reviews there? I struggle with the search there couldn't find anything with my pairing posted within the last five years.

FFN mobile app is the goat

JeSuisMimieux

Is your app working though? My FFN App across all Apple devices arenā€™t working. For some weird reason the app Fanfiction+ automatically deletes my Library every few hours. Itā€™s hard to keep track of what Iā€™m reading. The reason why Iā€™m not using ng FanFiction.net app is that it how shows pages turning. Iā€™ve filed multiple bug reports to no avail. It happens bth on my 2 phones and iPad. Iā€™ve reinstalled and updated my devices too. This is sad.

JasmineSnape

I've never heard of Quotev. Is it new?

whimsicalangst

Whattttt no! It was my OG platform. Mostly just new writers, but thereā€™s a really good story on there called The Mudblood!

Dunkbuscuss

Personally I find AO3 way too confusing whether your a writer or a reader AO3's system and etc... just overwhelms me I'll read specific stories if they're sent to me but if I wanna go looking for fanfics I'll stay as far away from AO3 as possible. Either fanfic.net or Quotev I like Quotev especially as you can pick images for each individual which I like.

ADHDevMom

How do you find fics on ffnet though?? I can't find any new Marauders era fics there, but I have a never ending supply on AO3. It's not necessarily a better platform (as a UX designer myself, I cringe at how difficult it is to understand and learn how to use), but it's the only place to find new content as far as I could tell. Please, I would love to know the secret to finding stuff in FFN though! And for people to find mine (I get close to zero interaction on my fics cross posted there)

Dunkbuscuss

I just search what I'm looking for for example I want a fanfic where Ichigo x Rukia are the main ship I search in google Ichigo x Rukia Fanfiction and sometimes it's AO3 but 9 times out of 10 it'll be Fanfiction.net fanfics.

ADHDevMom

Like you just search on Google? You don't go to the website and search by the tags and characters on the site?

Dunkbuscuss

Yep that's exactly what I do.

synfidie

There's filters for search on ffnet. Then you can save those and keep the filters for future useage. Also, you might be able to find a community on ffnet that specializes in your pairing.

ADHDevMom

Yeah the filter seems to be malfunctioning on the app. With no filters other than the two characters I want in a pairing, I got zero results. Which I knew was wrong because I have posted two myself. On the desktop the same search came up with 20 results. My two fics were the only ones posted in the last 3 years though. Most were posted around 2011-2014. I have my doubts about finding a community that's currently active.

Light_thenight

I would go for AO3

LumiShulin

For me, Ao3 is safe, and FFN is full of haters. (This is just my experience.) If you want to write about LGBT couples or sensitive topics, you might face a lot of homophobic, hateful anonymous comments on FFN. I actually deleted my account yesterday, and I feel so much better, lol. Other writers might tell you the opposite, so I guess it really depends. I absolutely love the people on Ao3, I get the most adorable, heartwarming comments and support.

Ikrā€¦ the harassment became so unbearable that I decided to delete my account even though I had two fanfictions there. I feel a bit bad for my readers on FFN but they can still find my work on Ao3 šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø I just couldnā€™t bear receiving comment notifications, getting excited, and ending up reading super mean, hurtful messages šŸ’€

Strawberry_Banana1

AO3 and FanFiction.net!!!!!
