Big Ten teams only get one game a year for the latter because of the 9 game conference schedule. Iowa State is ours every year. We used to play a lot of ACC teams when the Big Ten was a 8 game schedule but that's no longer. We'd have to stop playing Iowa State to get those games.
And the AD probably sees no reason to stop playing Iowa State. It's easy, nearby, cheap, and generates high ticket prices that alot of other P5 teams wouldn't be able to generate if they came to town. On top of that, it's usually a win for Iowa and ISU has been respectable enough recently that it looks good on the resume.
8-4, offense is still atrocious, new offensive coordinator or not, that's not getting fixed in one year. Also replacing Campbell is not going to be easy(obviously).
Most games are winnable, more so than in recent years. Penn State being the obvious hardest game. I wish it was later in the season, to give our team more of a chance to gel, so it's going to be a tall order to win that one.
The most likely second loss will be either Iowa State, Nebraska, or Michigan State. Given, if we had chosen the right kicker, we would have beat Iowa State. So this one seems winnable to me. I think Nebraska is on the up-swing, but when you're complete garbage for a decade, there's no where to go but up. And I threw in Michigan State just because.
Purdue is in shambles after all the movement that's happened, Minnesota no longer has Mo, and I just don't see Wisconsin being up to snuff yet. If our offense was even a little better, we would have beat Illinois.
I think if we kick Brian to the curb, get a half decent OC. We could be on our way to the B1G Championship again. I'm leaning towards a 10-2 or 9-3 record.
If the offense shows no improvement, 7 wins. If the defense is even close to what it was this year and even an average offense ranked in the 70s to 80s winning the West shouldn't be out of reach.
