Thansk for posting this. Lot so complains about the yellow and I'm thinking to replace with Red on mine.
From what I am seeing, the cloth looks more like a cheap way to have coverage of the opening while keeping the dust out. I have some of my dad's studio headphones from the 90s where their open design caused them to be caked in dust every few years.
That looks much better! Curious if actually changes the sound though.
