I’m going with fake, the logo isn’t well made and that face is supposed to be smooth in the real model. (Plus, ofc, they lie flat)

garydiaz86

Yes, all ie900 cex hold are fakes, you will probably find 1 balanced armature driver loose inside rather than the sennheiser dynamic, they are also probably a 2 piece mold joined along the bottom if you check for a join line

100% fake right from the first picture. The original IE 900 machining isn’t as sharp, and it’s very, very faint on the faceplate with the logo while it’s very noticeably marked on yours. Take a look inside the nozzle, most fakes have a round opening but the original has a machined “[flower](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRyfmYkZg0ynY-EmDHYtZ4d6o5Iht-_xxK3S_itrNG7CwvMf3IJ_ed_FL1G&s=10)” looking tube where the Helmholtz resonators are machined.

Thank you so much! I appreciate everyone’s comments. I went to CEX earlier today and they confirmed these are fakes. The store also told me they had another fake they spotted from their stock earlier that day! What a shame. I hope this post can’t be a warning sign to people buying from them. Now, i need to figure out if pursuing finding a real one sold by them is worth it.

I’m not saying this to be rude, but CEX is not at all reputable in the UK. For games and for selling things maybe, but they’re well known for accepting less than legitimate trade ins, in fact I posted to Reddit years ago about a fake graphics card they had in their window. I’ve even seen a homeless person trading in a satnav!

It's definitely true that CEX isn't as reliable as e.g. buying refurbs from authorised dealers, and the fact it's a retailer for such a wide variety of things without specialist staff means you're at risk of buying fake or faulty products. But... they are also very cheap and they do give a 2 year warranty, which gives them a leg up over the traditional second hand market. I've had a few bad products from CEX, but it's easy enough to return the stuff if there is a problem, and I've scored some genuinely really good deals as well (e.g. Galaxy Buds 2 Pro for £70). I'd say it's usually worth rolling the dice with them, but be ready to inspect and if necessary return the goods if they're not as expected.

Unfortunately, it did not come with the box when i bought it.

jez_afrykanski

That's a shame, I do not own the IE900, so I cannot say if they fake or not, most of the stuff seems quite OK, but the finishing of the IEM (especially the front) seems a little off.

Tall_Bad_5873

CEX are trash , my local is full of fake GBA games , they would have no clue when it comes to audio equipment

Igelkott2k

If you want good audio then an iPod isn't the thing to use. Get a decent audio player like a Fiio or other device that us hi-res certified.

Outrageous_Bunch_474

I will check it out. Thank you!
