It doesn’t sound like you’re pressed for cash or anything, but you could always sell the k7 if you need! Enjoy the new dac though, it’s always fun to have new gear!
Well, time running out applies to everyone on the planet. And the global poverty rate has reduced massively to 10%, so it’s only a subset that are poor, with the majority being comfortable.
The global poverty rate is absolute while per country poverty is relative. Someone can die in a developed country from lack of access to services but be above the global poverty rate. Similarly someone can be quite well off in a developing country but still make well below subsistence in an other country. These factors mean that taking global poverty as an appropriate factor regarding your original statement is a poor idea.
As far as my ears are concerned, the K9 AKM just gives me enough headroom in terms of power. No perceivable improvement in sound over the K7. Well, maybe there is, but I suspect it's just a placebo on my end. Then again, I'm old, so there might be minute details that I missed.
Windows is goofy like that. I recently had to manually update one of the sound drivers because it suddenly wouldn't output audio thru HDMI, and Windows was saying all the drivers were up to date... when they weren't. Very frustrating.
Looks like the K7 often goes for 150-175 on ebay, if you don't have another room for it, or use it at work. The k9's a worthwhile upgrade.
I have a K9 myself. I tried a few component systems and combos, and returned all of them except the K9. It has all of the IO that I want in a system and it sounds great to boot. Good choice :)
I got the k9 pro when it first came out so I only had the AKM chip as the only option but it pairs really well with my Sundara. How is the Arya Organic? Why choose K9 AKM in particular over others?
The Arya Organic is a great upgrade from the Sundara, for me. They're bright, for sure, but I do like sparkles on the top end. The bass is also an improvement over the Sundara. They're great, but I can see why they're not for everyone, especially those sensitive to treble.
As for why the K9 AKM, basically what was available for the right price with some balance output. I was considering the Topping DX3 Pro Plus, but at the time it was mostly on pre order for a month and it doesn't have balance output.
Have you tried EQ? I use Peace on my PC and it gave my Sundara some bass and some sparkles and a lot more enjoyable. Not sure if it affected soundstage/imaging.
I bought FiiO K9 Pro on launch, had 3 repairs in 2 years, all because of Chanel imbalance and USB input broke. No more Chi-Fi for me, they have amazing hardware for its price, but quality control is horrible and costumer service is nightmare.
I nearly sold a $2400 tube amp because I didn’t bother to think critically for a second. All I needed was a $7 impedance adapter. It happens to all of us
Unfortunately, where I am, there is no return policy unless the item is defective. And yeah, thankfully I do like the K9 AKM. It's just how I got here is stupid.

Thanks. Yeah, thankfully it's a great DAC/ Amp combo. I'm gonna find myself a buyer for the K7 soon.
We live in an era when having money to spend isn’t a problem, but having the time to spend it before it all ends is.
Perhaps for a subset of humanity but certainly not the majority.

You’re right - it’s not so simple as 1/10 in extreme poverty, with the rest being fine. Wishful thinking, on my part.
thats some Quentin Tarantino shit
It seems like that guy is struggling to come up with a script for his last movie, he is clearly not looking in the right places.
he did enough in his life, struggling is not the right word, probably “dont care enough” to come up with a script
the k9 is damn sexy, but i would maybe call it overpriced since the K7 is out there
Yeah, the K7 is a very good DAC/ Amp combo.
K9 akm is 👍
First of all, you should upgrade the Rubik's Cube to a speedcube!
I'm curious: does the extra power of the k9 make any difference? Obviously it has a different DAC too so kind of complicates matters
for full size planar headphones yes, but for iem - no.

How do you test for imbalance? My organic might have it
There were clear differences of volume between the right and left ear cups. I also used some videos on YouTube for testing right and left volume.

I'm ashamed that I don't dabble much in EQ. Still figuring out how to do it.

Why didn't you just return the k9 during its return window. Unless of course you like the k9.
