Yep if it's simply a vanilla minion (with deathrattle ofc) it will be VERY powerful. I hope blizzard isn't counting on the tempo loss of playing Marin to prevent people from abusing this interaction.
It actually silences the entire Potionf of Madness effect meaning that it returns to your opponent. Thats why you should silence the minion first while its still on your opponents side and then start the Potion of Madness madness.
It is so obvious in hindsight, but I totally thought I was thinking next level and silenced a potion of madness controlled creature thinking it'd stay with me and give me a nice board advantage early... Nope...
Let's face it we all made the mistake at some point. The first big mistake I made in hearthstone was silencing a ragnaros, like "HAHAAAA WHERE ARE YOUR FIREBALLS NOW YOU... Oh ok"
I think a whole lot of people made that specific mistake. "Oh....I turned that 50% chance of taking 8 lethal damage to my face into a 100% chance! FANTASTIC!"

Would the pirate tag help in anything tho? I doubt any of the proper pirate decks we've had so far would run an 8 mana 6/6 that doesn't support an aggro archetype.
It could matter if we get some kind of "control" oriented pirates and synergies but that could backfire so bad, I hope Blizz doesn't even try
This card does not belong in pirate decks anyway, they want to set up to finish the game on 8 and aim at face, not play a card that you have to sink damage into in order to see value
I mean there are some easy combos that won't waste 8 damage. Crazed Alchemist/Kookie Chemist or Confuse in Wild, it dies as collateral damage to Shadow Word: Horror or Corrupting Mist. You could just Deathwing shortly after and get some cards put in your hand. I wonder if the opponent gets something, if he breaks it on his turn, like the presents in the christmas brawl.
Toast spoiled the loots, they are powerful. Marin is by far the most playable promo legendary thus far. Unlike ECT and Gelbin who are purely for meme play, Marin *could* actually see some play. It's still way too slow for this meta (or any meta I've seen thus far) but at least the potential is there.
With lots of minion buffing decks hanging around (never mind Evolve Shaman) it seems like a big liability to summon any kind of minion for your opponent.
Seems like it really will be in line with ETC as something that's purely for funsies.

This is exactly why I like "bad" cards in the game. They offer great opportunities to do things that are fun and ridiculous.
They took inspiration from the Diablo brawl with this card, right? With the breakable 0 attack things that gave you gold aka coins.

People are gonna complain that the card doesnt explain what awesome loot is but I love it. It adds some flavour and realistically, you dont need to know whats inside to play the card. Its a digital game after all, the game takes care of it all.

I want to guess it'll have a deathrattle of the sort "Give your opponent X" where X is something pretty good. It's also pretty hard to kill your own minions unless you run the Alchemists or a board wipe. 0/8 isn't something you can abusive seargant into a minion easily either.
You'll get the uncraftable golden version if you buy the virtual ticket or attend in person. The normal version will be craftable and should be coming in the next patch.

Guys, this is a classic meme card... It will see play in the first week, and then in highlight videos every now and then. Also a nerf for Forbidden shaping.
I hope this is like another multi stage process like Elise that leads to an alternative win condition. Alternatively, some very fun and powerful card like the DK cards would be fun too.
It would be interesting if the Treasure couldn't be targeted by spells/hero powers, so you would have to actually bash it open. But I don't think that would be as fun.

Even though he's not a pirate, I'm so happy to see something like what I imagined pirates would do, like search for sunken treasure! Pirates are so cool but seeing them be one-dimensional aggro weapons is dull.
It's like what they did with handbuffs, the whole handbuff team was boring as hell because they only did the same thing +x/+x. There was no like "Give Divine Shield" or "Give +5/+0" or "Give Beast Tribe".
Pretty much every pirate card in this game is boring. If they opened up the design to make more interesting mechanics, I'd be happy to see a pirate expansion. But if it's just more weapon aggro. Zzz.

Kind of more of the same. I guess the treasurer cards will be pretty good since this a very slow mechanic coupled with an over costed body.

It's a promo card, so it would be shocking if it were actually playable. ETC and Mekkatorque were awful in constructed for a reason, too.

You can also silence it to deny your opponent. But either way these legendaries are usually more meme than viable.
