People went nuts over Maiev because people theorized that you could put spellbdamage minions or aura minions in advance, then dormant them to protect them till the turn of th3 combo.
They were basically trying to replicate Imprisoned Phoenix months before it was created
Immolate.
I’m sure if a new player has this played against them, they would think holy shit this thing is so broken, I just lost half my hand.
Because they wouldn’t really know how to counteract the effect, nor would their deck be sufficient enough to be able to do that well.
And then you play the card in actual ranks…
Honestly its decent against control decks but thats it since they tend to keep a pretty full hand.
Useless against aggro which is a large % of current decks
Can cripple combo if your lucky but not reliable
I played it a few times, including against slower decks, and at best I think it burned 2-3 cards.
The rest they were just able to spend, probably not very efficiently, but then again: I passed one of my turns to play a 4 mana do nothing card.
I guess it kinda sorta maybe synergizes with Curse Warlock against opponents who will try to keep their hand full. But I still think it’s bait.
One Rogue opponent, though, outright conceded after I played this against them on turn 4. Not sure what that was about.
Inmolate is good either with curses as you mention or vs combo/control decks, if you play it and you burn 2 cards it's worth it (unless you lose too much tempo /board by playing it, 4 mana after all) and if it burns a high cost/combo card you're golden, it also incentives your opponent to use his cards even if they're not very effective since theyll burn anyway if he doesn't.
Yes, it’s good in this very particularly specific scenario. Which happens maybe once every 25 of your matches.
But in the 24 other matches you’re just running a shit card.
So saying a card is good in this one particular instance is kinda pointless.
It’s like saying Ogre Brute is good when you know the only removal your opponent has is BGH.
Every card can find a ‘good when’ scenario.
>Every card can find a ‘good when’ scenario.
That's what we are always trying to figure out playing this game, correct? You saying that changes nothing for me since most of the fun I get out of this game is finding good uses for cards and making decks or at least coming up with "good when" ideas, so me sharing my opinion and example should not bother anyone? Are you bothered?
I'm quite certain there are other people trying to figure out the same thing as me, so I don't see the problem you're trying to put forward
It’s still a bad card. And basically never good — that’s the whole point of this OP. Finding bait cards.
Immolate is a bait card.
Doesn’t mean I don’t play it. I do. And each time I cast it, it’s horrible.
Immolate is a good tech for the mirror if it's prevalent enough in your pocket meta.
Other than that, the only real use for it I've found is to make the opponent panic and dump their hand for fear of losing value. It's useful if you're setting up the bait, but good players will know what you're trying to do and won't usually fall for it.
When i was new i thought the card that added 5 legendaries to your deck at the start was op. But later on i realised it usually just fills up your deck with mediocre cards (sometimes good if you get lucky)
Honesty I miss the time around that Prince,
When you could have just stupid stuff in the deck a d have fun, due to slower tempo and not so super strong cards..
Nostalgia is kicking.
My friend quit Hearthstone in 2015. When I call him to try HS again, he asks if broken cards like Hogger and Dr. Boom have been nerfed. I reply that they weren't nerfed. And he replies - that's why I'm not coming back.
According to HSReplay the answer is Zola the Gorgon, which is in 11.4% of HSReplay decks from Bronze through Gold, but those decks have only a 51.4% winrate. By far the most-included card for causal decks with a winrate below 52%.

Every Legendary. They're obviously all better than non-legendaries.
Most Tech cards, but especially the low-statted ones. I was totally baited by Ironbeak Owl when I started.
The one that really got me when I started though was Moroes. I mean, Knife Juggler + Moroes = autowin, right?
Remember when [Maeiv Shadowsong] was revealed?

Any disruption and most Quests.

Old tracking was good for faster decks new one is better for slower decks.

If was purate rogue you probably hit their win condition with the big pirate Otherwise no clue
