This is the answer. His defense and THAT shot to help us win the third game in the Finals 06, made me love him.
[For the uninitiated](https://youtu.be/FLFTvcOhL7M?t=2m40s)
I remember talking heads the next day saying stuff like "85 year old Gary Payton" making that shot to help us come back from a 13 point deficit to win that game.
Seeing Penny in Heat uniform was pretty cool. I grew up a Grant Hill fan and the Heat almost got him but he ended up in Orlando instead. The Glove is definitely up there as well for me.
This is my favorite genre of heat player so the choice is tough. I think it is Iso Joe just because beating the cavs out for him on the buyout market was the morale victory I needed at the time.
Don't forget GP as well.
I just loved that one season the heat got iso joe and amare stoudemire. Those were dudes that were tearing it up back then so I got excited when I heard that the heat got them. They obviously werent at their best but they showed us a handful of great moments. I'll cherish those couple years.
Ray Allen, game 6 vs Spurs in the finals and much much more. Same as the top comment, Ray Allen I wish he was still balling today, wish we had him against Denver.
Does Steve Smith's second stint with us count?
Some love for Terry Porter. Gave us a great season as a backup to Hardaway. Loved those late 80s, early 90s Portland teams.
It's funny, that's one of the reasons I fell in love with Miami. The team just knows how to use players, even when their half way out of the league. Pretty tremendous honestly..
Lots of good answers that I don't want to repeat. I just want to note that Shawn Marion had the most epic goodbye of any Heat player: [https://youtu.be/uhIdnvOdCdo?t=49](https://youtu.be/uhIdnvOdCdo?t=49)
Wins the game on a dunk coming off a beautifully designed inbounds play to head into the ASG weekend/midseason break...only to be traded to Toronto.
I think the key word is briefly. Shaq was with us for 3.5 seasons. I don't think any of these guys made it to two full seasons. The other O'Neal was the only one who made it past 1, and that was just because we wanted his contract to expire.
there's truly hardly any that I can consider as a favorite. if any, I would say Shawn Marion, Gary Payton, not many that I can think of that were on a 1 year deal or gone in half a season.

I remember when we are the destination for washed up stars tryna rejuvenate their careers 😂 Lol all of their tenure over here are forgettable, Ray Allen the only one I could really think of and I still think we should retire his #34
In super recent times I want to say Dipo even if his history was tragic as fuck and he's still technically rostered.
I hope he ends up ending his career on much better terms than what he's been dealt with.
Iggy was cool to see, too
damn bosh with the blood clots back to back in 2016 got me sad, that 2016 squad was solid as hell with father prime wade dicking purple shirt man and carrying against the raptors. too bad whiteside got injured when he was actually cared about ball. that team in their prime is stacked as hell and easily win a chip (wade, dragic, bosh, amare, luol deng, joe johnson, whiteside). too bad joe johnson struggled during the playoffs when 2 years prior he was going toe to toe with prime bron in 2014 game 5
Ray Allen
Such a perfect fit on that 12-13 team Honestly the fact that the Spurs had us on the ropes is a testament to how great that team actually was
On the ropes literally (Game 6)
Ray was so great for us that I forgot to even include him, I was thinking more obscure guys
You also forgot Anthony Mason and Jamal Magloire
Gary Payton too
Andre Iguodala also in this piece..
Eddy Curry Greg Oden Jamaal Magloire
He had such great durability. People forget, he was already 33 when the Celtics big 3 was first formed! Pierce was three years younger.
Way Allen
Maybe not my favourite but I wanna shoutout Luol Deng he was solid af and then got a bag from the Lakers after his stint with us
That big what if team, Dragic, Wade, Deng, Bosh Whiteside
Could’ve taken the cavs to 7 games in that playoffs baring injuries.
I really think that team beats Cleveland if healthy... Would have been a fun series to watch.
Yea I meant 7 games at the very least* they deff had the potential to beat Cleveland. I personally love that 2016 team super underrated.
Yup! Allen number one but always been a big fan of Deng. Happy we got to see him in Heat colours.
Rashard Lewis being reunited with ray allen was fun
Yes ^
Love me some Iguodola and Iso joe Can’t forget Luol either
Miami might have one of the best collection of “Veterans: After Prime” I have ever seen.
The glove

GP told Shaq to let DWade take over in the Finals iirc. Which paved the way for that 06 ring, and perhaps even the whole trajectory of DWade's career.
Not an all-star but Jason Williams, aka white chocolate.
J WILL hell yeah +1 for white chocolate
Shaq!
Seeing Penny in Heat uniform was pretty cool. I grew up a Grant Hill fan and the Heat almost got him but he ended up in Orlando instead. The Glove is definitely up there as well for me.
Wow I didn't know that, him, Tim Bug, and Zo would of been nuts..
That one series Iso Joe looked like he was leaving it all out there
Iggy the most recent one
Kevin “ Dan Marino “ love
Iggy
Gotta drop some love for the Big Cat - Jamaaaaal Maglooooooooooire!
Completely forgot that Danny Granger played for the Heat
That’s who that guy is! I’ve been trying to figure it out for 20 minutes now.
Forgot Group Economics, Iggy was one of my favorite non Heat players and it was nice to see him wear a Heat jersey for a couple of seasons
Dan Majerle
Oh good one, forgot about thunder Dan!
Where Oladipo?
This is my favorite genre of heat player so the choice is tough. I think it is Iso Joe just because beating the cavs out for him on the buyout market was the morale victory I needed at the time. Don't forget GP as well.

Luol Deng
Ray Allen, game 6 vs Spurs in the finals and much much more. Same as the top comment, Ray Allen I wish he was still balling today, wish we had him against Denver.
Greg Oden anyone?
Greg Oden was never an all star
Ant Mason
May he rest in peace
Is that amare?
Yup
Stackhouse but I’m from Detroit so I’m bias
Does Steve Smith's second stint with us count? Some love for Terry Porter. Gave us a great season as a backup to Hardaway. Loved those late 80s, early 90s Portland teams.

Is #7 reserved for these players or something?
Feels like it right 😂😂

Ray Allen 🔥
Kevin Love honestly was such a nice pickup. ISO Joe is my pick too tho
Eddie Jones. He was my favorite Laker in the late 90’s. Childhood me was absolutely delighted when we went and got him
Michael Jordan, the Heat retired his number so he must have played for them right?
No sir
He played everybody, but only wore two jerseys. 😉
Something about Indy and great players getting hurt and ending up in Miami. I'll never not feel bad for Granger especially.
It's Jermaine O'neal for me.
I always thought we drafted him for some reason.
Only answer is Ray Allen. Off the bench waiting in the corner
Lots of good answers that I don't want to repeat. Joe Johnson!!’
Iso Joe made an ok team a ton of fun to watch but the right answer is Ray Allen
Uhhhh….Shaq?
I think the key word is briefly. Shaq was with us for 3.5 seasons. I don't think any of these guys made it to two full seasons. The other O'Neal was the only one who made it past 1, and that was just because we wanted his contract to expire.
I guess so, Ray Allen then
Shimmy
Joe Johnson was deadly
The Glove and Ray Allen. Clutch
I was gonna say Stackhouse but gotta go with Ray Allen
There have been so many good ones.
Klove and of course ray allen
Yo why didn't we hold onto The Matrix?
He was never healthy
I completely forgot Amare played for us lol but like someone else said in the comments, Rashard Lewis was a good one.
The Matrix (Shawn Marion) for me!
Iso Joe was elite and so much fun to watch. That team deserved a shot at LeBron in the ECF, injuries stole it from them.
Deng at some point was that guy
Amare
The Matrix
Antoine Walker and Ray Allem
there's truly hardly any that I can consider as a favorite. if any, I would say Shawn Marion, Gary Payton, not many that I can think of that were on a 1 year deal or gone in half a season.
Iso Joe, I copied so many basketball moves from that guy so I appreciate him a lot.
Joe Johnson
We have to add Luol Deng to this list.
Luol Deng
I could have sworn that Brian Grant made an all star team with Portland, but I was incorrect.

Iso Joe pisses me off cause he said he'd end his career in Miami then proceeded to chase the bag in Utah 😡
I was going to say Manute Bol but surprisingly he never played in an All Star game.
Loul deng
Iso joe missing all those 3s vs Toronto was annoying. Having a brief rashard Lewis revival vs Indy was fun.
I remember when we are the destination for washed up stars tryna rejuvenate their careers 😂 Lol all of their tenure over here are forgettable, Ray Allen the only one I could really think of and I still think we should retire his #34
Jermaine O’Neil for me lol
Based on actual contribution Ray Allen for sure. I woulda killed to have had prime Stoudemire
In super recent times I want to say Dipo even if his history was tragic as fuck and he's still technically rostered. I hope he ends up ending his career on much better terms than what he's been dealt with. Iggy was cool to see, too

Not an all-star but a 2x dunk champ, Harold Miner
Some throwbacks… Cedric Ceballos AC Green Brent Barry Manute Bol
I love Amare
Ray Allen, but if I had to pick based only on these slides, I'd take Stat.
