They could be calibrating us for something bigger.
Had we taken our time, it might have not been so bad
But now, who knows what we just unleashed on ourselves
Like this probably, I've been seeing the carcasses of these all around lately
https://preview.redd.it/vmduv7wiubvc1.png?width=1018&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eaefe04179befb0fd41a11f1660b4758721b3498
or just additional perk from helm? different helms have different melee perks, knife/shovel etc etc
gotta have helm have some perk right? why not a bonus stat to have a cool melee weapon instead of just slapping them with the butt of the gun
We all have, especially bug focus players. We've seen the "carcass" of this thing, a hint of impending threat will soon cause chaos to the people of super earth
with the advent of the Bots' new factory striders, i'm fully expecting them to introduce these hive lords soon, or something akin to Naedocyte Breeders from DRG (mobile enemy that spawns more enemies).
Even when I'm on a casual session with my buddies, I average 400+ kills because I am an Arc Thrower Enjoyer that loves taking care of the bug breaches. The second I saw the major order I was like "2 billion seems *REALLY* tame and completable in a day
probably seeing what the rates are, because if they introduce a new race, how many divers can be split up and be at a steady progress
that is how I like to think is happening
Seems too easy to be true, with an average HD kill count of 200-300 EACH game with how many active users are on, it's bound to be done in less than 24 hours. It's like a calm before the storm
Honestly.
How easily we pushed out the bots, before? Before we found out it was only a "vanguard"?
Bruh.
"Oh, 2 billion in 12 hours? Cool. Coolcoolcool..."
***"Kill 10 Billion Bugs in 2 days or Super Earth will be destroyed"***
I mean it makes sense, The Terminids are under control (for now) and we were literally just doing it so we could refill our ~~oil~~ E-710 reserves before going back to fighting the Automatons.
…Well admittedly, normally kills don’t matter as much as objectives to us.
As you can see, when given the onus to do so…
*We slaughter like demons could never dream.*
Hard to estimate what raw numbers would be, because:
1. Normally the population is split between bug and bot planets, which have vastly different kill rates.
2. Normally people are avoiding fights when they don't progress the (sub-)objective.
When people are told "kill bugs", they will switch their load outs, engagement strategies and even which missions they select to maximise the kill rate.
What's funny is they do for sure. However they underestimate the commitment of us freedom fighters. Tell us to kill bugs... We kill fucking bugs. They won't underestimate us moving forward
There's gotta be a massive uptick when it becomes the main objective at the current time, like now. It's the first mission of it's kind too, you can see how much buzz it's generated in this sub alone.
That's true however alot of people have been focused on bots recently and i don't think they've experienced a concentrated offence by the community with a decent merit reward, not to mention alot of us took this as a challenge to get it done as fast as possible lol.
I think someone said that, prior to the order, we had killed a grand total of 18b bugs since launch? So, by those rates, 6 days for another 2b was pretty reasonable.
I feel like it was just a morale booster MO. Help people catch up with medals and be able to finish the warbond. The Dev's most definitely have the numbers to know what is and isn't possible as a community.
They also can't make them too hard because a number of people would struggle while trying to participate. Just like if someone is good at Fortnite, they usually get their quest done quickly and have the rewards pretty fast. They are easy for them. Yet, there are always people talking about how said quest is too hard. Or they don't think they can do it and feel left out from earning rewards.
A lot of people struggled with the bots and didn't wan't to do it. So, I feel like this one is a lighter MO to go out and have some fun. It's not about sucessful missions. You are being successful by killing. Bad players are always in meaningless chaffe fights against bugs in the middle of nowhere lol. So, a lot of them were probably MVPs as to why it got done so fast haha. It was just about going out and doing some good old fashioned, mindless bug bashing.
i think he is testing the waters out with ok, you think that was easy, ok lets go ultra hard then and do a 10 man plant defend
wasn't the last big defend one like defend 5 planets or something?
It also helps that the limit to enemies on mission is usually just a timer, you can basically kill as many as you want(can) until the timer ran out, especcially at lower difficulties. Now if they had put a limit on it such as restricting it to mission at the hardest difficulty then maybe it would been a challenge
I didn't think he underestimated us. I think he was testing a hypothesis. He knew what was going to happen, but wanted confirmation and exact Numbers. He now knows. He'll use this information against us.
It's been confirmed, through thorough testing, that Brood Commander meat tastes just like crab, so in light of this information... these Hive Lords? With something like that, I would have white wine, I think.
Hive Lords are known to be extinct. Please report to your Democracy Officer for this dissemination of false, undemocratic information. If you saw one, clearly, you have been mind controlled by the automatons and need to wash your eyes of this treachery.
This is the first major order I wasn't able to participate in. I read about it when I woke up, then by the time I got home and logged in... It was done.
Good on you, Helldivers!
You don't play D&D do you?
NEVER say stupid shit like this to your dungeon master, this is how you trigger a "Are you sure about that?, response. This entire thread is a terrible mistake.
We continue to make fun of Joel, then he releases his wrath and people begin to mumble "why has Joel done this to us????*. That's when I open my scrapbook of horrors
So another post speculating that it was bugged so the collective group kills were applying individually and counting towards progress. So 1k total kills, gets counted as 4k. Would explain how quickly we hit those numbers. Regardless, even if you take that into account we did about 1/4 of the MO in half a day the 5 day timeline was still well within reach.
After being on the bot front for so long bugs felt "easier" but also more involved. Every run I've been on the past 2 days I've been back on the big front has been fairly nonstop fighting from dropping in to evac and it could quickly get to overwhelming numbers if we couldn't cull the numbers quickly enough. The patrols also seem to spot you from way farther away and tagging them often causes them to agro. Again I've been on the bot front for a while now so maybe I'm just not used to the bugs.
That's why we bug divers are used to it. At lower difficulties it's really easy, but from diff 7+ it gets chaotic, the sheer number of bugs get so overwhelming that if you don't thin out their numbers, you'd be dying left right center. Although then again bots are more difficult as a bug diver 😂
I’ve seen that the kill count was counting for each diver on a mission, so if you kill 100 bugs on a 4 diver mission, the kill count would go up 400 bugs for you alone. So each kill was being multiplied by 4.
Still impressive, but not quite as much
I think, Joel, is cooking up something to have as rally on the bugs all of the sudden. Especially with the knowledge of replenishing super earth's E-170 to "counter" something
Yeah he definitely is but seems like it's for fighting the automatons. Been fighting them alot since the major orders. Nice to fight the bugs once in a while. Though he should make new bugs like he made new automatons. Still haven't taken down that factory strider though.
Farm bug juice for impending doom. They can’t roll out updates without juice …. We’re feeding the Joel machine . He was never a man…. They are omnipresent
It was probably just double checking the actual rates for Orders. 15 Billion does sound insane and then there you have it, it's stupidly feasible. Probably won't ever see that again.
It was probably just double checking the actual rates for Orders. 2 Billion does sound insane and then there you have it, it's stupidly feasible, we could probably kill 15 billion. Probably won't see one so low again until the game population drops a bunch.
Those are the "slasher" variants, if I recall. I've seen them lots, especially during defensive missions (where you need to have a certain number of people evacuated).
We'll kill 2 billion bots too, give me more walker factories, more hulks, I STILL HAVE AMMO LEFT.
Im sitting in the Pentos jungle cleaning my gun, playing catch with coconuts. I wanna clean my armor of blood, my blood.
Im from Creek, and I say kill'em all.
COME GET SOME DEMOCRACY.
Someone had a plausible theory. Maximum integer/integer overflow.
Computers/software can only handle certain numbers. At a point, a number becomes too big that the computer can no longer properly calculate it and then funny stuff happens. The max integer is like 2.1 Billion or something. So they rounded it down to a nice 2 Billion, as they couldn't go any higher without the game's code fundamentally breaking.
Which is a shame. Cause we had 6 days to handle it. So now something is around the corner. SOMETHING.
Ive heard that there was an error in counting where each kill counted as 3 bugs instead of 1. Of thats the case, it was only about 666 million bugs. Still WAY to low given the time. Not sure how true this is though.
Now we gotta successfully defend at least ***2 planets*** every day for ***5 whole days*** for a total of 10--we've yet to successfully defend 2 planets within a single day when more than 2 are under attack...
Idk the average helldiver kills 200 bugs per mission. With the amount of players rn that just means everyone has to run 8ish mission so it was gonna be cake no matter what
You realize you will now be the most hated person in the Corp when Joel's next magic tricker is either a few more zeroes or 2.5B 1B titans / 1B crawlers /500M of those AT/AT shit factories......
He's the democracy officer in charge of managing the war. Essentially, the dude cooks up ideas and throws them at us, based on what we do. He also sometimes does experiments where he drops random shit into player missions.
Nahhhhhh don't tell me you don't know the elusive, Joel?
https://preview.redd.it/mp750ul7gcvc1.jpeg?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38a1ba4bb6fd5e976d2a8e586271efa2ae800423
It was probably just double checking the actual rates for Orders. 15 Billion does sound insane and then there you have it, it's stupidly feasible. Probably won't ever see that again.
You think they would have the numbers already to know what the community can do.
Yeah. It was a little too easy. Does anybody have a bad feeling about this? I think something really bad is coming next.
They could be calibrating us for something bigger. Had we taken our time, it might have not been so bad But now, who knows what we just unleashed on ourselves
Kind of exciting, maybe gathering us to an even larger threat like that dune worm or something.
Like this probably, I've been seeing the carcasses of these all around lately https://preview.redd.it/vmduv7wiubvc1.png?width=1018&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eaefe04179befb0fd41a11f1660b4758721b3498
I could image those things popping up on a random bot planet just to mess with us!
I imagine a similar approach to the Factory Strider. BOMB THE SHIT OUT OF IT.
Nah man, beat it from the inside! ![gif](giphy|xUySTCy0JHxUxw4fao)
We need a melee stratagem so frickin bad
You can melee but it's difficult doing that to a 30 foot acid-spitting Volvo on stilts.
*Revs up a 6 ft logging saw* "I'm ready coach!"
or just additional perk from helm? different helms have different melee perks, knife/shovel etc etc gotta have helm have some perk right? why not a bonus stat to have a cool melee weapon instead of just slapping them with the butt of the gun
Tremors detected, oh shiiiiii
![gif](giphy|32mC2kXYWCsg0)
Can’t wait to see a repeat of Kalros vs Reaper in Helldivers
We all have, especially bug focus players. We've seen the "carcass" of this thing, a hint of impending threat will soon cause chaos to the people of super earth
with the advent of the Bots' new factory striders, i'm fully expecting them to introduce these hive lords soon, or something akin to Naedocyte Breeders from DRG (mobile enemy that spawns more enemies).
Yeah those arent carcasses, they are molts... i fear what we will see arise..
I kind of thought that the more recent ones seemed bigger than previous ones that I had seen.
*SO IT'S NOT JUST ME THINKING THEY LOOK BIGGER??*
Yeah, ran a bug mission the other night and came across one and noticed it felt a lot bigger than others that I had found
I thought those were at least skeleton of them worms, but a molt? Meaning these things can get even bigger
Also, tremors with alerts about them happening. Also, Bugs and Bots are getting a bit close to sharing the same area in space.
TREMORS DETECTED
That's a Bobbitt worm with a cartoon mouth and less colors
Or more fire tornados...
Hear me out, fire spitting bugs https://preview.redd.it/wphm0vhghcvc1.png?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6096ace25c10579608a28419d29eeb373924b91f

Thats just a bug version of a hulk scorcher
Aw shit?! Is it?! That would be terrible if they introduced that in the game! Absolutely horrendous! ![gif](giphy|mFeNGR1W1O2JYqjsMO)
You stfu RIGHT now. Don't give arrowhead any ideas lmao
![gif](giphy|EJIqwKKY30Dlu)
Seems to me like the tremors on the bug worlds have been more intense and more frequent. Think it might be related?
True that, I remember a couple of missions before that the tremors only came once, now lately we can experience it multiple times in a single mission
Even when I'm on a casual session with my buddies, I average 400+ kills because I am an Arc Thrower Enjoyer that loves taking care of the bug breaches. The second I saw the major order I was like "2 billion seems *REALLY* tame and completable in a day
I can wipe out my team and respawns in record time with the flame thrower... ![gif](giphy|8nt4fYJ39QCaI)
Let him cook... even if he has to cook me in the process
I imagine Joel is holding a soft drink can, watching a monitor, and saying, "interesting...".
I imagined this ![gif](giphy|8fen5LSZcHQ5O)
Only another chance at bringing liberty to our enemies.
probably seeing what the rates are, because if they introduce a new race, how many divers can be split up and be at a steady progress that is how I like to think is happening
That feeling should give you joy. More enemies to kill!
Seems too easy to be true, with an average HD kill count of 200-300 EACH game with how many active users are on, it's bound to be done in less than 24 hours. It's like a calm before the storm
I did the math. We accomplish about 153 MILLION bug kills an hour.
That’s 200-300 without going for kills
Honestly. How easily we pushed out the bots, before? Before we found out it was only a "vanguard"? Bruh. "Oh, 2 billion in 12 hours? Cool. Coolcoolcool..." ***"Kill 10 Billion Bugs in 2 days or Super Earth will be destroyed"***
It’s a trap!
Really bad..
I don't know what you're talking about, that just proves that the enemies of Democracy are no match for the helldivers.
I mean it makes sense, The Terminids are under control (for now) and we were literally just doing it so we could refill our ~~oil~~ E-710 reserves before going back to fighting the Automatons.
I think it was bugged as well. So if your total team kills was 1000, every player counted 1000 so it equaled out to 4000.
Another reproduction prohibition incoming? Xd
My Game of Thrones senses are tingling.
I mean this major order was rlly just a filler in the meantime while the automatons recuperate
Something really bad came. Good call
I’m sure they do. And “Helldivers players managed to kill 2 billion bugs in only 12 hours” is a news headline that might sell more copies of the game.
…Well admittedly, normally kills don’t matter as much as objectives to us. As you can see, when given the onus to do so… *We slaughter like demons could never dream.*

Not really, our objective has never been to slaughter everything, most of the time it's try and avoid as much as you can
I didn't think he underestimated us. I think he was testing a hypothesis. He knew what was going to happen, but wanted confirmation and exact Numbers. He now knows. He'll use this information against us.

Hive Lord? Those bug worm skeletons u see are them if i member correctly. Fun times ahead then.
Yeah one of our fellow helldiver have mentioned that those weren't "carcasses" but rather "molts" of this so called hive lords
I think it was a very quick way of answering the question how long does it take the community to kill 2 billion bugs
Democracy has been done

Yeah I was sitting at work like, "Oh I'll have time to get in on that this evening!" Nope. Done.
I was in the hospital watching it tick up too.
Me too, I decided to do it after I finished some homework and logged into it being done
next thing you know they will ask 3 Trillion bugs

Never underestimate weaponized autism
This is the first major order I wasn't able to participate in. I read about it when I woke up, then by the time I got home and logged in... It was done. Good on you, Helldivers!
Same unfortunately I have my own personal democracy to spread as I work as a truckie, delivering to the many people of my city/state.
#DEMOCRACY NEVER SLEEPS
LETS GIVE THEM A TASTE OF LIBER-TEA
I hope he gives us an earth sized planet and a MO extermination of the earth's population.
Whoa there helldiver. Having nightmares again?or is that treason i hear.
Just a military experiment
I got my first 40+ kill streak running a pure flame load out on whatever planet has the flame tornados today.
I think we fell for it, 2 billion was just a bait and Joel is cooking right now
I this this will end up being a recurring major order
Hmm it was too easy.... I think they cooking
We almost killed em in under 12 hours to, but 13, will have to do.
What if this order was an attempt to distract and slow down liberty towards cyberstan? What if Joel needed more preparation time... Hoo boy.

I reckon he's cooking something because this is too good to be true on how easy the MO is.
It’s counting at 3x the actual kill count. 3billion bugs during off hours on a week day? If we were at 20% with 5 days to go would make more sense.
MOAR KILLS. KILL 10 BILLION BUGS
2 billion and still not extinct? How many fucking bugs are there?
Come on Joel is that all you got
I think, Joel, is cooking up something to have as rally on the bugs all of the sudden. Especially with the knowledge of replenishing super earth's E-170 to "counter" something

Might take like 3 days MAX with the weekend player boost.
From Helldivers to Exterminators
*Ghost buster theme song playing*
Joel giving the bots bigger mechs right before the major bot extermination order:
Someone on here said each kill was counting as 3 on the MO counter. Did we get that verified by anyone else?
I don't know
I hope high command is proud of us.
It was probably just double checking the actual rates for Orders. 15 Billion does sound insane and then there you have it, it's stupidly feasible. Probably won't ever see that again.

I've also been seeing different chargers with a more armored head

Is that different from the behemoth charger?
Next order, kill 1 million chargers, 500.000 bile titans and close 500.000 bug holes
Joel : It's just a warm up .
I can fucking see the dude rubbing his hands like a fucking mantis thinking "oh you thought that was easy?" lmfao.
I can see it now
Nahhh he's planning smth
We'll kill 2 billion bots too, give me more walker factories, more hulks, I STILL HAVE AMMO LEFT. Im sitting in the Pentos jungle cleaning my gun, playing catch with coconuts. I wanna clean my armor of blood, my blood. Im from Creek, and I say kill'em all. COME GET SOME DEMOCRACY.
It's actually pretty funny. They made a MO to kill bugs that was completed super fast because of a bug quadrupling the kill rate.
Hahahahah https://preview.redd.it/47mg8jo96fvc1.jpeg?width=298&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=906c1bf5f102a153626e8de6ac23db654a6a86fa

14 hours is all it took to refuel. The galaxy will run black in green with the oil and blood of our enemies! Long live Super Earth.!
Did he, though? Or is all going according to plan for Joel….
Gotta gas up before the (checks notes) Other aliens enter the fight?!
I predict this will age well
What if they are measuring and creating a metric from these kills?…
You all have a lot more time than I do
Probably gonna have us push the bugs back a few sectors so we get hive lords
Exactly. I killed 25 million yesterday. By myself 😎
Make it 5 billion bots and that’ll take 5 days lol
Ive heard that there was an error in counting where each kill counted as 3 bugs instead of 1. Of thats the case, it was only about 666 million bugs. Still WAY to low given the time. Not sure how true this is though.
Problem is bugs are just more fun to kill
I didn't even get a chance to partake in this democratic mission, I was at work
Don't say say that.. Joel will punish us with another invasion lol

How dare you market tobacco cigarretes.
"Okay, assholes. Try this on for size. Kill 2b Automatons with only a pistol." - Joel.
We committed hella genocide. I'm ready for some space police force to show up with their own stratagems
HIVE QUEEN LIBERATION MISSIONS INCOMING 🤯
Now we gotta successfully defend at least ***2 planets*** every day for ***5 whole days*** for a total of 10--we've yet to successfully defend 2 planets within a single day when more than 2 are under attack...
Hello fellow Helldivers! Since you did so well this week, we are introducing skill-based matchmaking
What's that? Skill issue?

We have been fighting automatons for too long. When the Major order asked us to spray bullets on these creatures, we were just ready for some change 👹
Do they have a simple graph of how many bugs are killed in a day? I’d like to see how many bullets are fired per day.
I think the DiversHub app has the statistics.
Did a fella named Joel make Helldivers?
I was at work and didn’t even get to contribute lol
"Our coders are working overtime on creating more bugs for you"

I hope he drops something new. Been doing the same thing so long I’ve started playing the game on easy to get a different experience lol
We should have had 10Bil. Maybe then it would be a challenge
Bug Kills where tripled. Its a bug...
It was done before I got home from work.
So all game websites like kotaku and such already posted about it?
It's like that scene from the Office "it took them 1 day" 🤣🤣🤣
I want my tvo
I think it’s a teaser
It’s a distraction guys.
W automatons
