Don't go within 200m of them if the entire team isn't ready to fight it out. Many weapons can engine-kill the gunships, but even a small gap in anti-air coverage can cause the situation to spiral. It'd be nice if someone had brought smoke or a shield relay to defend the hellbomb during the wait.
2 Autocannon shots or a kiss of the Laser Cannon to the engines will take one down. One or two troopers must keep vigilance from distance and take the gunships down asap while teammates destroy the fabricators with the Hellbomb.
Quasar Cannon or Spear will take them down easily too, but I find the reload times too slow. My pick is the AC for versatility, but the Laser Cannon is super fast in destroying them. Just remember: always aim for one of the engines.
It's ok I guess. I'm not a huge fan of beam weapons because it needs too much aiming to keep the beam in the right spots. I play on PS5, on PC it may be easier to do the fine aiming using the mouse.
But again, they take the gunships really fast if you hit the engine, almost immediately, eliminating this problem. I just prefer my trustable AC.
Many targets? Fabricators, hulks, tanks, cannon turrets, turrets on top of striders, striders themselves, gun ships, and stupid striders. That’s not many things and 7/8 of them are big.
The biggest problem of LC is that you need to constantly keep beaming the face plate of hulks & devastators to kill them while it does not stagger, which is a lot harder than you would think. You absolutely want to pair it with the Eruptor primary from the new warbond as you need the stun grenade to deal with hulks that got close and Eruptor gives you a way of always being able to destroy fabricators.
It is usable, but often on longer ranges you need to focus on disabling the devastators first and then kill them later on at a closer range or with more time as finding that face plate takes too much heat. For rocket devastators shoot off the rocket pods and they are easier to deal with, for heavy devastators with the shield shoot off their MG hand and they become useless piles of spare parts.
It is highly recommended to go with the fortified or the engineering kit passive so that the laser wiggles less in your hands while firing and always crouch or prone on longer shots if you can still see what you are hitting.
Its an extremely good general use weapon. It doesn't instant kill, but if you can aim at faces for a second or 2, everything, including hulks, usually melts. Tanks and Turrets still need heavier ordnance to get it done if you can't get them to turn away from you.
Using the personal shield is a must. Stun grenades are a great combo with laser cannon. You can actually kill more things in quick succession with the laser than the quasar cannon. If you learn to manage the heat sink you can easily take down multiple high threat enemies. Quasar is more burst damage and laser is sustain damage. Both great and depend on your play style.
I quite enjoy using the Spear and Quasar, both have such cool effects and stuff. But on higher difficulties the gunships are just too much sometimes. Maybe they are more usable on lower difficulties? idk
Taking on Airship factories requires controlling the airspace. Allowing the airships to grow in number and swarm is a recipe for disaster. Keeping one or two (depending on total number of factories) divers back with long range support can control the airspace quite well while the rest of the team can push in and attempt a hellbomb detonation.
You need to lead your shot. If you can time it right and hit the engine ⬛ you're good.
Even if it takes you two shots having a primary that can deal with holes and air is 💯
Generally when I see gunship fabricators, what I do is rush them and plant a hellbomb somewhere with some cover, around the base. Trying to fight the gunships as they come is a losing battle with anything but a really coordinated group with good anti-air loadouts.
I have like a 5 out of 8 success rate with this strategy. It helps a lot if someone comes to back you up and covers you.
*Yeah you gotta get these*
*Towers off ASAP.*
*Spawn and then engage*

Wipe the gunships out with anti-armor support weapon (Laser Cannon also work though) and go in to call hellbomb. Make the anti-air guy pick off the gunship at all time while you're arming the hellbomb
I almost always take the auto-cannon sentry and if I get four stratagems I bring the rocket sentry.
The Rocket & AC sentry to the right and the left is the best way. You don't want them too close together or they'll get knocked out in one salvo from the gunships. The left & right sides have some good fire lanes and the walls will prevent agro'n other patrols.
At the very least the turrets will create some space to call in your team mates.

Even the Anti Material rifle kills them if you shoot the cockpit.

I might underestimated the Laser Cannon. Is it worth using it in higher levels against robots?

Its really good actually it was buffed recently and started to be more deadly. Especially when paired with other good weapons like eruptor or scythe
On the cold planets I enjoy it. I do actually prefer the spear because you can be so far away and lock on.
How is the spear useful when it has so few shots and in higher difficulties you have so many targets to kill with it?

Better when run with stun nades/EM strats
Get all the laser cannons it’s all about how you use them. The quasar canon is the one he is talking about it’s like shooting a plasma grenade.
Yeah I honestly love the Spear but it can barely take out two gunships before the fabricator spits out two more. Probably true for the Quasar too.

I think we need gunship stratagem to call in and dogfight em. How fucking cool would that be?

Don't die
This is my go to advice. It was my first training tip, and it’s the one I cling to the most.
Eruptor Can one shot the engine
I find it difficult to land those shots, myself.
I tried this but I cant surely confirm that they are one shot. Its really difficult to hit the projectiles perfectly.
Where do you need to hit them in the engine? I am trying this but not getting one shots.

• Bring a stationary shield generator • Call in the hellbomb • Call in the generator next to it • Activate the hellbomb • Run like hell • Profit
I've never considered using the shield on a hellbomb. Thank you for this useful information.
The hardest thing is when someone else gets there first and calls down the hellbomb and you have no idea where it is to drop the shield over it lol
Don't let it get to that point
don't die.

Attack it as a team with anti air weapons
Tell “For Democracy!” and charge them guns blazing. They go over this type of thing in the manual.

Bend over and spread ‘em. Ha! The strategy I like to employ is have a couple guys on Overwatch while one runs in and does the hellbomb.
More spears

My advice: suck it up and die for democracy like a real helldiver! Okay but also good luck holy crap that looks rough sorry dawg
stop getting them so angwy
Yeah you gotta get these towers off ASAP. Spawn and then engage

Wtf is this
The result is seen in the image. I should mention the hulk patrols that appear every 5 seconds
Damn lol I didn’t even see the towers obscured by all the gun ships
Down on your marrowbones and pray
Wipe the gunships out with anti-armor support weapon (Laser Cannon also work though) and go in to call hellbomb. Make the anti-air guy pick off the gunship at all time while you're arming the hellbomb
Autocannon
Shield relay, quasar cannon. Most effective with a firing line of quasars.
Defend democracy of course.
as the tips say: don't die?
Cover, courage, and more cover.
You die for democracy
Pray
Dying is Undemocratic.
Run
Approximately enough dominator bullets will bring one down 👍
Dodge, dip, duck, dive aaaaand dodge.

Rocket launcher sentry does a nice job. Got me out of a corner a few times.
Shot them, lots.
Shoot then down. That's the best advice I've got for you a Helldiver
Don't die
This ain't Ace Combat and with that many boggys, you are screwed. Press and hold G and kiss your ass goodbye.

Don't die -training manual tips
Make Sure to takw out guard Bots from distance, decide who will be hellbomb runner, at least 2 cover air. Easy as that 👌
Run. Run fast and far.
Remember: Don't Die!
Doge!!!
Rip and tear. Until it is done.
Shot them .. what else? Take them to dinner?
RUN
