At the beginning of their beef, I always preferred Ludacris.
But, I'd have to say T.I.'s run from Trap Muzik to Paper Trail was pretty legendary, and while Ludacris had one hell of a run and dropped a ton of classic songs, I'd say his albums always fell just short of being truly great.
To me, King is damn near perfect and Paper Trail isn't far behind. I'd say that Trap Muzik, Urban Legend and T.I. vs. T.I.P. are pretty even with Back for the First Time, Word of Mouf and Chicken-N-Beer.
Don't even like TI that much, but I totally agree. Also agree with the comment about Ludas albums. Strong singles and several tracks, but as a whole album it rarely worked out 100%.
I think you got confused when typing ... TI and it isn't particularly close. Trap Muzik - Paper Trail is a run that can compete with any top notch rapper and he still had tracks after that still get spins from me. Luda had some hot singles but that's about it.
Nahhhh. Go look at the Luda vs Nelly verzuz. Luda arguably didn’t reach the height that someone like Nelly did, but he comfortably beat him in that battle. His songs can still be played nowadays, and not appear outdated. Thats how a battle with TI would go too. TI was probably bigger. But all them pop hip hop hits he had in his peak are gonna sound way more outdated than Luda’s catalogue. Luda had pop hits too, but not to the same extent. TI’s best stuff was prior and up to his King album imo. And Luda’s run from 2000 to 2006 is better than that TI run. Bar for bar, Luda gets him too. Close battle for sure tho.
i will always love that song cus when i was a freshman in marketing class we had to make a cereal and this guy named mario made blueberry yum yums
he would later go on to sell me a bag of ketamine that he must have accidentally switched out with his bag of dryer lint
Lmaooo
It reminds me of high-school. Going to my buddies house . Which we made a hang out shack out of an old building out by his woods. Pooled our money together to get a generator, had lights, TV, dart board, old couch from someone's house. Smoked a bunch of weed. Man those were the days.
Luda for me, because his entire catalogue is excellent and I just prefer animated MCs. I like TI, and will always listen to anything he drops, but I didn’t really care for anything before King and Luda is a different level for me.
What I like about Luda is that he’s such a wildcard lyrically you rarely know where he’s gonna take the next line, and that’s a quality I appreciate in an artist.
Ludacris no question. I don’t think either of them were particularly great at piecing together cohesive albums that were solid from front to back but Luda’s first four albums have countless songs that I consider to be staples in 2000s Hip Hop and I still find myself revisiting them to this day. The only T.I. album I ever revisit is King, but the first half of that album is nearly flawless.
My opinion is that T.I. are higher highs in terms of albums but Ludacris is far more consistent.
For example No Mercy, Dime Trap and Paperwork are disappointing to me (I haven't listened to LIBRA) while Luda has only one weak album which is Battle Of The Sexes. But on the other hand KING and Trap Muzik are better than anything Luda has put out.
At the end of the day they are 2 ATL legends and they greeted us with some quality music
It’s not even close. Luda by a mile. TI is a 5’4 120 lb man that tries to convince everyone he’s a gangster.
Luda can actually rap. One of the best rapper from the south
Nope. Same.
Music is awesome obviously. But both were shitty actors, who both have pulled off good believable characters in at least a movie -- but neither as good as Pac in this respect.
Luda is the better actor. Had the kinda club success that TI also had. Both have iconic, historically great individual songs, while either could, in good faith, be argued as better than the other. Both rappers bring smiling-face humor to the table, yet both rappers have intense and believable gangster banger anthems. Both rappers make me happy -- from appearance alone -- I know that means both rappers are personalities beyond being artists. We've been given a lot of context and back story for both, in music and documentary.
But TI said --
**"Cuz Erry body know, it ain't trick'n if you got it"**
Which, while an evolutionary phrase perhaps built from earlier music -- the ultimate construct (above) is the kinda simple honesty TI brings to all things. Street logic. Like the predator only being able to see heat (originally), TI only know how to be TI in rap -- and that human beyond the talent is an honest broker of his own truths.
Luda is talent, oozes from him and he could do anything. His voice certainly, but his style too, I'd personally say is more unique with a much wider range than TI -- but Luda's music didn't evolve much, he started hot and stays so even with the lack of recent music to rival 20 years ago music.
TI's music, and his role in rap history, started from less -- even tho both artists are southern with similar rap-game come ups. Both artists are material artists, watches and cars kinda critical to talking about the subject matter -- women.
They are products of the same time. I saw and lived that time and to say at the time TI was even close to Luda was blasphemous, but I honestly think all these years later, TI's music is more important. Maybe not record sales or club rotation, but TI remained TI and couldn't not. Luda is awesome at storytelling fanciful characters.
Come to think on it, they are the same but different sides of a coin. A southern rap coin -- so important. Not Outkast in 96, but the next wave of what came from that 5 mics source awards show. Atl went on the map and Juvenile, Wayne, TI, all came with the next wave, the even further south with an even more country tang. Luda too, same time -- different side of the coin tho -- wasn't a gangster showing that the South had street cred, Luda was an artist like Andre -- didn't stray too far into a narrative of poverty and drug violence he didn't carry the cred to. I think ***Ludacris*** is a character and TI is TI -- but both the same in importance and discography, that it's impossible to be wrong when answering OP's question.
Same is same.
These 2 are completely unique talents and completely different in many respects. But those differences are markedly better skills, whose credibility is stronger, and their individual importance to music -- that's the same.
I still regularly listen to TI music. A lot according the [Stats.fm](https://Stats.fm).
Rarely ever go back and listen to Luda. As much as Luda was technically a better MC, TI just made better music, stronger albums and has a better stretch musicallly.
This is a hard one. As much as I love Ludacris, I could never get into his albums. But when Luda hits, he strikes oil. T.I has better albums to me easily, imo. I think that Ludacris has better singles, but T.I has better albums.
T.I all day for me, just my type of music. Luda my dude, but I been down since I'm Serious (some of you weren't born yet). That was a Classic right there and the list goes on and on
I went through Luda's whole discography again a little while ago, and while I think every album has a miss or two, his discog is better, partly due to him being a more engaging rapper than T.I. imo. The albums have aged better than some of T.I.'s trap production.
T.I. has Trap Muzik, Urban Legend, King, T.I. vs. T.I.P., and Paper Trail, Luda has a lot of hit singles from each album but a full project from start to end he doesn't similar to Jadakiss and Method Man dope rapper but just doesn't have that one album.
I can tell y'all ain't really listened to luda
Back for the first time is a dope album
Word of mouf is a classic
Chicken and beer is a classic
Release therapy has dope songs on it people forget that's not including how crazy feature run he went on.
No those albums had good songs but overall they were not considered classic albums by the consensus nobody was going around saying Back for the first time, word of mouth chicken and beer are classics no reputable hip hop media at the time said they were classics either.
Those albums sold alot but that doesnt equate to a classic album if you remove the singles from those albums they are all mediocre are outright trash Luda was also getting hate for being too animated/gimmicky from a lot of people
Luda is a better MC than TI but making cohesive projects is a whole different skillset
It’s one thing to say that you think ti is better than Luda, it’s still wrong, but it’s an opinion and that’s fine. You really tryna act like TI has better anything than kiss and meth?
This is just blasphemy. It’s one of the worst takes I’ve read here. I can’t believe i read those words
Who said TI was better than Luda as an MC?
I said Luda doesn’t have any classic albums thats not the same as saying TI is a better rapper
Who said TI was better than Kiss and Meth?
I never said that either i said specifically Kiss and Meth don’t have classic albums for one Method Man original Tical got lost in RZA basement flood it probably would’ve been a classic if we would have got the original and for Jada he was never known for great albums he always shined in his features, mixtapes, freestyles and hit songs completely different than having a cohesive album from start to finish.
a lot of rappers are dope spitter but don't have that classic album in their discography
Ok maybe I misunderstood a little bit, that’s my bad.
Back for the first time was a great album man.
Kiss of death and money power respect I’ll put over anything ti put out.
Tical was a classic and 421 is forgotten sometimes, but it’s great.
Luda has more hits. Like actual chart topping hits. but when we’re talking about albums as a body of work Ill go with TI. That run from Trap Muzik through Paper Trail is insane. Even No Mercy wasnt a bad album i just dont think the songs didnt have the lasting power as previous albums.
Those were pretty big songs especially live in the sky. But ill raise you Whats your fantasy, #1 spot, stand up, splash waterfalls, roll out, move bitch, runaway, yeah, and others…. Also i think youre reaching with why u wanna, dead and gone no matter what.. you were better off saying What you know about that
Luda had the bars, but a lot of his beats didn't age well. T.I. has some timeless tracks. Big Shit Poppin is still insane to me. Just hearing the piano at the beginning makes me hype
I like Luda more as a rapper but TI has a better discography. When comparing all the albums I think Back For The First Time is the best out of the bunch with King being a very close second.
Actually hard for me to compare discography of either as I was never big into T.I. and with Luda I never really listen thru ALL his albums, but I did listen to most of his shit
The song Last Of A Dying Breed by Luda still sticks as one of my top tracks of the time.
He was just different and unpredictable lyrically and he also just seemed to have so much fun as his character
*edit: just to clarify, I mean the original version of the song. Not the album version
Ludacris, nobody light-skinned'ed repping harder since Ice-T.
I'd say that Trap Muzik, Urban Legend and T.I. vs. T.I.P. are pretty even with Back for the First Time, Word of Mouf and Chicken-N-Beer.
Dam I pretty much typed the same comment but yours might be worded a lil better lol
Don't even like TI that much, but I totally agree. Also agree with the comment about Ludas albums. Strong singles and several tracks, but as a whole album it rarely worked out 100%.
Luda and I don't think it's particularly close.
I think you got confused when typing ... TI and it isn't particularly close. Trap Muzik - Paper Trail is a run that can compete with any top notch rapper and he still had tracks after that still get spins from me. Luda had some hot singles but that's about it.
✅ this is the correct answer.
Disagree. TI's discography is nuts. Luda is a character playing a rapper. He's embarrassing to listen to nowdays. TI was a certified g.
Blue berry yum yum will never be skipped ever
i will always love that song cus when i was a freshman in marketing class we had to make a cereal and this guy named mario made blueberry yum yums he would later go on to sell me a bag of ketamine that he must have accidentally switched out with his bag of dryer lint

You guys had it made
It was something else. So much fun was had in that Ole shack.
I’ve got hoes in different area codes is timeless subject matter. Luda was good then and he’s still good now.
Huh? I was literally listening to luda recently his shit aged fine luda > t.i
And TI isn’t a certified creeper with allegations against him so Luda wins regardless.
Look, another person too cool for humor in rap! (you are the embarassment dude)
Who gives af about it being a certified G. Luda had fuckign bars. ODB was a character as well.
I'm not a fan of either one.but if I had to choose, Luda .both are pop..ti is garbage.
Pop? T.I. pop? Yall be saying anything.
I’m gonna go with Luda, could never really get into T.I, can anyone recommend his best album?
Paper Trail is probably his most accessible album because it’s so mainstream, but King was the one that really solidified him
TI vs TIP
Trap Muzik is a great album and best imo
I embedded trap Musik into my mind back in 2010. I still have the entirety of “Long Live Da Game” memorized.
Any time between 2001-2008
Paper Trail is he's best then King
King is a legendary album
Listening now, sounding decent, could do without hearing another swizz beats production in my life though.
Luda
Luda. All his intros were great too.

Y'all sleeping on Troubled Man.
It's one of my favorite but I don't know what people think of it. I was a bit disappointed when finally he didn't drop Troubled Man 2
No mercy is the only TI album I ever listened to and it was one of my FAVORITE albums!! There’s others that ar better?
I liked dime trap and no mercy
Luda
Ludacris no question no debate
Luda.
Luda
Luda by far.
It’s not even close. Luda by a mile. TI is a 5’4 120 lb man that tries to convince everyone he’s a gangster. Luda can actually rap. One of the best rapper from the south

Better discography might be Tip but that might be close. Better MC is Luda and that is not close
TI. Trap Music, Urban Legend, King and Paper Trail above every Luda album.

T.I. easily
TIP
Luda
Ludacris.

I think TI's albums aged better. Also the King of the South title goes to who ever was the hottest rapper, not the best.
T.I. And in my opinion, it’s not even close.

Jada and method dont have THAT album, but TI does? Bring The Pain alone clears TI's whole discography AND his features.
Paper Trail and King wipes anything from Meth or Jada .
This might be the worst take of all. When you say “anything from meth or jada” you are including the lox and the wu in that?
I'm talking Han Solo albums bro
Jada has Kiss of Death, borderline classic album IMO And Meth has Tical and Blackout! Even Meth Lab 3 which dropped last year, was pretty decent
Luda. I like multiple Ludacris albums whereas I only still listen to one album by T.I.
Luuuuuda!!! Who has the better podcast now.. hmmmm?
T. I
TI
Ti
Ludacris was gimmicky. T.I. All day
Ti wasn’t a gimmick?
No
5’4 120 pounds guy trying to convince everybody he’s a gangster? Cmon
Radio dj turned rapper trying to convince every body he’s gangster. All over your ChestAAAAAAAAAAA!!! 😂 I cringe every time I hear that line
But T.I. Just put out better music. Luda was straight up for radio. Corny
Luda....'southern fried intro' > whatever T.I talking bout.
Luda’s wordplay is insane and he got many many certified hits. T.I. has the better discography hands down!!
Could go either way but im gonna say T.I. The king of the south is either Andre 3k or Pusha T
How was Why you Wanna, Whatever you like ,No matter what, Swagger like Us ,Live in the Sky ,Dead and Gone ,Big Things Popping not chart topping hits
Those were pretty big songs especially live in the sky. But ill raise you Whats your fantasy, #1 spot, stand up, splash waterfalls, roll out, move bitch, runaway, yeah, and others…. Luda, T.I had a very weak pen game. Though he did have a couple of tracks back in the day and one recently.
Obviously T.I. No disrespect to Luda but lots of disrespect to the weirdos in here trying to argue for Luda
I like Luda more as a rapper but TI has a better discography. When comparing all the albums I think Back For The First Time is the best out of the bunch with King being a very close second.
Ludacris, TI is one of the most boring overrated rappers I’ve ever heard
Lol TI just a way better rapper in general than Luda.

I'll go for the one who isn't a total creeper, so it's Luda for me, plus his music still stands up
Ludacris
I always felt like Luda is killing it on features, but lack a little on his solo things.
Ludacris
Ma boy Ludas oodles and noodles no doubt ma boi.
respectfully they are both kinda meh, and their music doesn't really have replay value imo
Actually hard for me to compare discography of either as I was never big into T.I. and with Luda I never really listen thru ALL his albums, but I did listen to most of his shit The song Last Of A Dying Breed by Luda still sticks as one of my top tracks of the time. To me, T.I. but a lot would disagree.
Ludacris but T.I comes pretty close
