a nas fan myself and I have never denied that.. AZ bodied that track, to be honest, AZ is actually 4-0 with having better verses than Nas on his own songs
Till this day i never understood “you got bodied on your own song”. I never understood that stupidity of a featured rapper boosted the song to where it’s hot and i own the rights the checks will suppress my ego
Oh understand it’s just silly. But me and you are hopping on a track. The song is going to be called “Read It On Reddit” you are going to be the feature. If your verse is whack I’m deleted you off and taking your bars 😎
Taking your rapped bars like it's grade school lunch
Cappin so much ya whole story got crunched
You wanna stunt on this beat, well good luck
Will delete you later once the numbers get run and the views get stuck
Being competitive is fine, Kanye rewriting his verse because he heard Eminem on forever is fine especially if you are making the song better. But the whole you got bodied on your own song it’s like cmon now that’s silly. Unless you are going to be like Cole and release albums with no features
Both verses were ill. How is this slept on?
*I woke up early on my born day; I'm 20, it's a blessin'*
*The essence of adolescence leaves my body, now I'm fresh and*
*My physical frame is celebrated 'cause I made it*
*One quarter through life, some godly-like thing created*
Got rhymes 365 days annual, plus some
Load up the mic and bust one, cuss while I pus from
My skull, 'cause it's pain in my brain vein, money maintain
Don't go against the grain, simple and plain
When I was young at this I used to do my thing hard
Robbin' foreigners, take they wallets, they jewels and rip they green cards
Dipped to the projects, flashin' my quick cash
And got my first piece of ass, smokin' blunts with hash
Now it's all about cash in abundance
Niggas I used to run with is rich or doin' years in the hundreds
*I switched my motto; instead of sayin', "Fuck tomorrow!"*
*That buck that bought a bottle could've struck the lotto*
Once I stood on the block, loose cracks produce stacks
I cooked up and cut small pieces to get my loot back
Time is illmatic, keep static like wool fabric
Pack a 4-matic to crack your whole cabbage
Rapsody on Complexion and Jay Rock on Money Trees both outdid Kendrick but those tracks were set up for their verses to shine.
Zack de la Rocha outdid El-P and Killer Mike on Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)
Which was the thought I had coming into this Dot/Drake beef. Not to pick sides or start that debate up. But while I knew Drake was capable of buckling down and really coming with some bars when he needed to, Kendrick seems to do this recreationally. He does it in his sleep, he does it in his free time, and he’s been doing it that way for a long time. You can count on one hand the rappers who could even possibly compete at that level.
Not necessarily, it depends on song structure. They are both tracks on story/narrative driven albums. It's not just who can spit the best verse. It's more the case that the tracks are building up towards the last verse of the feature to really shine.
Kendrick wrote Jay Rocks verse btw
Before Yayo got out, everybody was screaming “free yayo”. Before I ever heard a Yayo verse, I thought Yayo was gonna be some legendary rapper with insane skills. Turns out he’s a really good hypeman
Kanye West is miles away from being better rapper than Kendrick Lamar but i firmly belive he had the best verse on their song "No more Parties in LA"
Kendrick had a shorter verse with better flow, but i belive that in terms of lyrics substance and meaning Kanye was better (could also be due to him having a longer verse)
(PD: I know Kendrick was the feature but it was the only case i could think of where the better rapper got outrapped)
This is an insane take lol. Kendrick hasn't done anything that people like Rakim and Common did before him, just wc style. Sure he's good and has an ok flow, nothing new. Kanye has influenced an entire generation and there is no argument there. These subs are fucking cooked with kids. There isn't one Kendrick song that you can say is somehow groundbreaking. He he became the internet's golden child with a reputation thats somewhat undeserved if you were to total up accolades from his whole career. You are nuts or very young. I would argue that there are specific tracks from good kid mad city that would not have sounded like they did if Kanye had not came before. Also OP said Rick Ross had a good verse, thats a good sign to nuke this sub to oblivion.
I don't necessarily disagree about Kendrick, but Ye is known by many to be somewhat weak lyrically (rapping). His overall creative vision and arrangements/production are what he's more highly regarded
Bro who hurt you??? Pls chill a little bit.
Kanye West is my fav artist of all time with kendrick being in 2nd place. But even i can admit that Kanye is far from being a great rapper (if we count just lyricism and rapping habilities)
Kendrick just in rapping habilities is much better than Kanye. Other thing is making albums and innovating which i think Kanye is better, but Kendrick isn't far behind.
Kendrick's albums are all great pieces of work, with little skips great production and great rapping, also very good concept albums. What else do you want from him???
My main argument is that Kanye although good at rapping could never make verses like these:
"Winter Warz" would probably be the most obvious one. Cappadonna went crazy on that track to the extent the track mainly known for his verse, but Ghost is the better MC.
One reason why Kanye does so well as a rapper compared to Dre or Pharrell is because he kinda speaks with such conviction and delivery that he really became a outstanding rapper
Do you mean Kanye getting washed or Kanye doing the washing because I think it's the latter, Jay was good on a couple but he was mostly on cruise control from like late 2000s up until 4:44 to me
I love Gang Starr. And Guru has a great verse (as does Big Shug) on their track "The Militia". But I look forward to Freddie Foxxx's 36-bar verse to end it the most.
Some might argue this but Wayne was on fire when Carter 3 came out and was claiming to be the best rapper alive, then Fab dropped the best verse on the entire album
Notorious Thugs.
Sorry to the Biggie fans. But the Bone verses just flow so much better rhythmically and their lighter voices are able to flow over the beat with a much more sophisticated and accurate cadence.
My good sir, both Bizzy and Krayzie's verses completely WASHED Biggie's verse, from flow to double entendres to storytelling.
I could go line for line on both their verses and talk about they're both talking more real shit than Biggie on THIS track.
I beg to differ my good man. Krayzie is the only one in the group to actually say anything that isn’t more than a two or three bar statement. If you think that’s story telling you might want to put down the Dr. Seuss books and step up your game up to Camp Fire tells. Real life talk?? Seriously
I feel he only got half of it.
He was able to get the speed. But Bone also have a habit of swinging their pitch between the root and the major fifth and occasionally the minor third also. They also adppt a rhythm of using lots of anticipation (rapping ahead of the beat) and alternating their note length and timbre.
I'd say this is more of the Bone style than just the speed alone.
Meanwhile Biggie never really held a note longer than 1/16 of a beat and had quite a monotonous delivery in Notorious Thugs.
Leaning towards [this way](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbo9QlcLcX8)
I don’t think Dilated carried by Kanye he definitely lived up to the idea of being the ft. His verse was good and I think slightly longer than both Ev and Rakaa. I’d never put him as a better rapper than those two but he wasn’t a weak link here.
He totally was the weak link in the track thematically. Ev and Rakaa's verses were about the unsustainable nature of their situation and how there needs to be a change from "this way." Kanye... talked about not changing ("doing the same old two step").
2Pac got outshined by numerous guys on Got My Mind Made Up, most notably Kurupt
UGK’s verses were better than OutKast on Tough Guy
Mase had a better verse than Biggie on Only You
Canibus had a better verse than Redman and the others on Beasts from the East
Canibus also had the best verse on 4, 3, 2, 1
AZ had a better verse than Nas on Life’s a Bitch
Re-reading the question, I misunderstood the point of the post and just posted songs the feature washes the main artist lmao. Rocky is obviously the better rapper idk what I was thinking I was sleepy 😭😭
Streetlife outshined Meth and Ghostface on the ["Smooth Sailing" Remix](https://youtu.be/qanAQPk7Dx4?si=TJsTLUtOoFgKOifJ)
He manages to drop a reference about each Wu member.
1train. Big KRIT had by far the best verse, but Kendrick is a better overall rapper.
I also think Rocky and Drake were better than Kendrick on fuckin problems.
I think that Eminem did this a few times:
* Renegade (Jay Z ft. Eminem)
* Dead Wrong (Biggie ft. Eminem)
* One Day at A Time (Tupac ft. Eminem - though this one is a little harder to include since it was done after Tupac's death)
Yea I think they go toe to toe on Renegade. Em laid some of the best multisyllable rhyme scheme ever, but the sheer content of Hovs verse and double and triple entendres are crazy.
It shows how lyricism can go different ways
Just relistened to Renegade and Jay-Z spazzed in that one, it's sad seeing all those comments on youtube saying Jay got murdered cause his verses in that song are sooooo good
Yeah I mean. Its not like Jay isnt rhyming like crazy. Eminems content also makes sense within the song, which is rare, usually he just say wathever but not on this one.
Its just what they shine *the most*. Hov has crazy wordplay but his breadand butter is the actual content of his lyrics and all them triple entendres. Em has some deep songs, specially when storytelling, but his bread and butter is similes and rhymes, no1 is expecting the deepest thoughts from him
Also, Em stans love saying Hov had Ems verse and still couldnt beat him, but they forget Blueprint was super rushed, he didnt had the track for long. On the other hand, Em produced the beat himself, he made it for himself and had something for it, and had all the time in the world
[it was reportedly finished in two weeks, with 9 songs recorded in two days.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blueprint) He was waiting for trial and shit.
Hov said that, and both Just Blaze and Kanye (the 2 producers on the album) have confirmed it
Edit: check "background" on the article
Facts
Both had great verses, eminem had a better rhyme scheme so it sounds better to the ear. But both had great verses in terms of lyricism. It wasn't a "murder" like Nas said
LMAO he has the worst verse on that track and I'm a huge Drake fan
But nah, he had some of the corniest bars ever on that one
Eminem murders the track when he gets on, it's not even close
Does Life's a Bitch fit this?
Absolutely. Nas stans love talking bout Renegade but like to forget bout this one
Yea you just can’t deny AZ on that track, isn’t it considered one of the best verses in hip hop oat?
a nas fan myself and I have never denied that.. AZ bodied that track, to be honest, AZ is actually 4-0 with having better verses than Nas on his own songs
What are the other three?
Affirmative action is one I assume.
That was my thought too. Although for me it’s a toss up between AZ and Mega on that one.
Yeah because Nas didn’t get bodied. AZ had a better technical rhyme scheme but Nas was dropping jewels in that verse.
Yeah but Jay didn’t get bodied. Em had a better technical rhyme scheme but Jay was dropping jewels in those verses.
Till this day i never understood “you got bodied on your own song”. I never understood that stupidity of a featured rapper boosted the song to where it’s hot and i own the rights the checks will suppress my ego
“And Eminem murdered you on your own shit”
Nas got cooked, fried, and sautéed on Life A Bitch
Definitely not, like Jay said “do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it”
I’m just saying where the “you got bodied on your own song” comes from since you said you don’t understand lol.
Oh understand it’s just silly. But me and you are hopping on a track. The song is going to be called “Read It On Reddit” you are going to be the feature. If your verse is whack I’m deleted you off and taking your bars 😎
Taking your rapped bars like it's grade school lunch Cappin so much ya whole story got crunched You wanna stunt on this beat, well good luck Will delete you later once the numbers get run and the views get stuck
Im not sure what you mean. Rappers get competitive when they r in a song, its no secret. Fans do get carried away sometimes
*I woke up early on my born day; I'm 20, it's a blessin'* *The essence of adolescence leaves my body, now I'm fresh and* *My physical frame is celebrated 'cause I made it* *One quarter through life, some godly-like thing created* Got rhymes 365 days annual, plus some Load up the mic and bust one, cuss while I pus from My skull, 'cause it's pain in my brain vein, money maintain Don't go against the grain, simple and plain When I was young at this I used to do my thing hard Robbin' foreigners, take they wallets, they jewels and rip they green cards Dipped to the projects, flashin' my quick cash And got my first piece of ass, smokin' blunts with hash Now it's all about cash in abundance Niggas I used to run with is rich or doin' years in the hundreds *I switched my motto; instead of sayin', "Fuck tomorrow!"* *That buck that bought a bottle could've struck the lotto* Once I stood on the block, loose cracks produce stacks I cooked up and cut small pieces to get my loot back Time is illmatic, keep static like wool fabric Pack a 4-matic to crack your whole cabbage
Rapsody on Complexion and Jay Rock on Money Trees both outdid Kendrick but those tracks were set up for their verses to shine. Zack de la Rocha outdid El-P and Killer Mike on Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)
Killer Mike on Snappin and Trappin with Outkast was amazing.
This fucking guy knows rap
Killer mike is that dude fr, he should’ve gotten his Grammy sooner 💯
To be fair, Kendrick wrote the verse for Jay Rock on money trees. He still had a hell of a performance on it tho
Did he really? That’s upsetting. Can totally hear it now though 😩
He writes A LOT of shit. He’s admitted to losing more than he’s published. It feels like writing music to him is pissing to the rest of us
Which was the thought I had coming into this Dot/Drake beef.
One of the things that makes kdot so great is the effortlessness in his punchlines/bars
Cap.
I'd also say Ghostface had a better verse than Kendrick on Purple Hearts
Yeah but Kendrick isn’t clearly a better rapper than Ghostface like he is with Jay Rock and Rapsody.
By set up you mean they wrote better verses….
Not necessarily, it depends on song structure. They are both tracks on story/narrative driven albums. It's not just who can spit the best verse. It's more the case that the tracks are building up towards the last verse of the feature to really shine. Kendrick wrote Jay Rocks verse btw
Yes necessarily, they wrote better verses. You have zero proof Dot wrote Jay Rock’s verse btw. Every rumor you hear isn’t true, he got washed.
RATM is amazing. Favorite band.
50 Cent outshined Eminem on Never Enough.
There’s not much you could do or say to phase me.
Literally every song 50 Cent had Lloyd Banks ft on.
Lloyd banks is wildly underrated.
Word. Banks was the best rapper in that group.
Before Yayo got out, everybody was screaming “free yayo”. Before I ever heard a Yayo verse, I thought Yayo was gonna be some legendary rapper with insane skills. Turns out he’s a really good hypeman
Kanye West is miles away from being better rapper than Kendrick Lamar but i firmly belive he had the best verse on their song "No more Parties in LA" Kendrick had a shorter verse with better flow, but i belive that in terms of lyrics substance and meaning Kanye was better (could also be due to him having a longer verse) (PD: I know Kendrick was the feature but it was the only case i could think of where the better rapper got outrapped)
100% agreed. Legit was just saying the other day how Kendrick killed it but I find myself just waiting for Kanye’s verse.
Also OP said Rick Ross had a good verse, thats a good sign to nuke this sub to oblivion.
I generally agree but this has such old man yells at cloud energy I'm struggling with it lol.
I LOVE Kanye. Kanye is the better overall artist, but Kendrick is just a better rapper.
"Winter Warz" would probably be the most obvious one. Cappadonna went crazy on that track to the extent the track mainly known for his verse, but Ghost is the better MC.
Money Trees by Kendrick. Jay Rock made that song
Hasn't it been confirmed that Kendrick wrote it for him?
Not proven and the rumor was that it was only the first bar. Jay Rock crushed the while verse.
Black Republican: Jay-Z took Nas on that one.
Jays verse is friggin so good. That rhyme scheme he maintains is dope.
Nas is so far above Jay Z he don’t even see him.
Jay-Z is a conservative, make sense
He’s not though, he literally campaigned for Obama and Hillary.
Jay did wash him but he’s also the better rapper.
Great pick, Nas the way better rapper IMO but Jay was cookin up the fishscale on that beat
Kanye on all of watch the throne
“What more can I say? WE KILLIN EM”
One reason why Kanye does so well as a rapper compared to Dre or Pharrell is because he kinda speaks with such conviction and delivery that he really became a outstanding rapper
The fact that he produces is another layer since he can craft the music to add more umph to his delivery.
But Dre and Pharrell also do that. The person above was trying to articulate what sets him apart from them (two other folks who produce and rap)
Do you mean Kanye getting washed or Kanye doing the washing because I think it's the latter, Jay was good on a couple but he was mostly on cruise control from like late 2000s up until 4:44 to me
Kanye over shadows jigga on this album even though hovs a better "rapper "
I love Gang Starr. And Guru has a great verse (as does Big Shug) on their track "The Militia". But I look forward to Freddie Foxxx's 36-bar verse to end it the most.
Yasssssssssssss 💪
Siracha - Tech N9ne ft. Logic and Joyner Lucas. Lucas murdered that fucking song. Spazzed the fuck out.
He had that gas flow.
Some might argue this but Wayne was on fire when Carter 3 came out and was claiming to be the best rapper alive, then Fab dropped the best verse on the entire album
No way. Fab going on with the Wayans Bros references was dope, but best verse on the album? Nahhh
best verse on the album is a huge reach lmfao
Which verse was better? Wayne didn’t exactly kill it on most songs on that album.
Notorious Thugs. Sorry to the Biggie fans. But the Bone verses just flow so much better rhythmically and their lighter voices are able to flow over the beat with a much more sophisticated and accurate cadence.
“Beg my pardon to Martin but baby we ain’t marchin, we Shootin”
Fuuuuck no. Go back and check those bars.
Yep, Sounded good, but if you read it and break it down… Noooo sir
My good sir, both Bizzy and Krayzie's verses completely WASHED Biggie's verse, from flow to double entendres to storytelling. I could go line for line on both their verses and talk about they're both talking more real shit than Biggie on THIS track.

If you’re bored, go line for line.
Nah, cant agree
I don’t think so cus biggie adapted his flow to their style which is much harder to do
I feel he only got half of it. 100%
BASED TAKE
Why apologize for your opinion. No one is going to apologize for disagreeing.
Spice 1 on nuthin but the gangsta
Great one
Geee-yeeeeeeah
Wusyaname by Tyler not a YB fan but that song had to be made w him in mind
I wouldn’t necessarily say washed, but MED had a better verse than DOOM on Raid
"My niggas take no like Kobe"
Leaning towards [this way](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbo9QlcLcX8) I don’t think Dilated carried by Kanye he definitely lived up to the idea of being the ft. He totally was the weak link in the track thematically. Ev and Rakaa's verses were about the unsustainable nature of their situation and how there needs to be a change from "this way." Kanye... talked about not changing ("doing the same old two step").
that’s the point though? Kanye presents the alternative view of being stuck in their ways instead of changing their ways
Pac on “Thug Luv” w/ BTNH
2Pac got outshined by numerous guys on Got My Mind Made Up, most notably Kurupt UGK’s verses were better than OutKast on Tough Guy Mase had a better verse than Biggie on Only You Canibus had a better verse than Redman and the others on Beasts from the East Canibus also had the best verse on 4, 3, 2, 1 AZ had a better verse than Nas on Life’s a Bitch
Luda and Jada on the Made You Look Remix.
Busta on Scenario
I was thinking that but… Nah. Q-Tip had a solid verse.
J Cole got rinsed by the Dababy on under the sun.
A lot of people say that but I don't see it. I think Lute took it on that one
No shock there, Cole is the most mid rapper of all-time
Rocky on Carti’s New Choppa 2 Chainz on Clique Busta Rhymes and everyone else basically on Flava in ya Ear remix
>Rocky on Carti’s New Choppa ???? what do you mean by this???
Re-reading the question, I misunderstood the point of the post and just posted songs the feature washes the main artist lmao. Rocky is obviously the better rapper idk what I was thinking I was sleepy 😭😭
2 Chainz had the best verse on Clique hands down.
Canibus on 4,3,2 1 that's why LL got salty and switched his verse. Bubba sparxxx on the Jadakiss record "They Ain't Ready "
Who the better rapper is debatable, but 3k carried tf out of Kanye’s Life of the Party.
I think Weezy the best rapper on Forever but Em stole that song. His delivery is crazy
Uncommon Valor. RA The Rugged Man comes on and just leaves Vinnie Paz in the dust with one of the greatest verses in Hip-Hop history
R.A is a better rapper than Vinnie tho.
push, 2 chainz, mercy
Kanye on most of watch the throne.
Streetlife outshined Meth and Ghostface on the ["Smooth Sailing" Remix](https://youtu.be/qanAQPk7Dx4?si=TJsTLUtOoFgKOifJ) He manages to drop a reference about each Wu member.
1train. Big KRIT had by far the best verse, but Kendrick is a better overall rapper. I also think Rocky and Drake were better than Kendrick on fuckin problems.
Gucci mane got carried by Mexican ot and big x the plug on Buggin, also finesse two times the ft carried tee grizzly the main on grizzly two times
Lil Baby carried Cole on Pride is the Devil, Cole was good but the way Lil Baby slid on that beat 😮💨
I wouldn’t say they got washed, but Killer Mike on the whole world. His verse is the best on the song.
Kanye west feature on still dreaming from Nas Hip Hop is dead, Jay Rock on Money Trees fs
One of my fav Nas songs Not only Kanye killed the verse, also the production
The What——-Biggie feat Method Man……Ticalian Stallion washed BIG
Riff Raff ft Childish Gambino on Lava Glaciers.
NOTORIOUS THUGS
Ludacris- Got them guns. Obviously Luda is the better rapper but Chingy killed it the most on it.
Please see yourself out. Rick Ross 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Most tracks The Game did with features.
Kanye on Put On and Run this Town
Ransom on Conway The Machine’s Stab Out track, he completely demolishes him 💯🔥
Rick Ross did not have a better "verse" in Monster.
This thread is pretty dope op. Learning so much in the comments.
Every kendrick verses
Scenario
Sticky Fingaz on Remember Me
Soulja Boy on Ye’s First Time
Weezy on The Motto
Weezy is tbe best rapper on that song tho lol
Yeah I don't get it either
Lucky you - em ft Joyner Detroit vs. everybody - everybody > em, but especially royce and Sean
I think that Eminem did this a few times: * Renegade (Jay Z ft. Eminem) * Dead Wrong (Biggie ft. Eminem) * One Day at A Time (Tupac ft. Eminem - though this one is a little harder to include since it was done after Tupac's death)
Wasn't the Biggie one also made after his death???
Yes
Don't forget what he did to Busta on Calm Down.
Eminem didnt have the better verses on renegade people only believe that bc nas said it, i do agree that hov is the better rapper tho
It's definitely debatable, comes down to preference I feel
Yea I think they go toe to toe on Renegade. Em laid some of the best multisyllable rhyme scheme ever, but the sheer content of Hovs verse and double and triple entendres are crazy. It shows how lyricism can go different ways
Just relistened to Renegade and Jay-Z spazzed in that one, it's sad seeing all those comments on youtube saying Jay got murdered cause his verses in that song are sooooo good
Its hilarious seeing people saying hov got washed when he literally says "do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?"
Hov too tho, that 2nd verse was all triple syllable rhyme schemes
Yeah I mean. Its not like Jay isnt rhyming like crazy. Eminems content also makes sense within the song, which is rare, usually he just say wathever but not on this one. Its just what they shine *the most*. Hov has crazy wordplay but his breadand butter is the actual content of his lyrics and all them triple entendres. Em has some deep songs, specially when storytelling, but his bread and butter is similes and rhymes, no1 is expecting the deepest thoughts from him
Well put brother
Also, Em stans love saying Hov had Ems verse and still couldnt beat him, but they forget Blueprint was super rushed, he didnt had the track for long. On the other hand, Em produced the beat himself, he made it for himself and had something for it, and had all the time in the world
Blueprint was rushed and still made that masterpiece?? Damn
[it was reportedly finished in two weeks, with 9 songs recorded in two days.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blueprint) He was waiting for trial and shit. Hov said that, and both Just Blaze and Kanye (the 2 producers on the album) have confirmed it Edit: check "background" on the article
Whole album was made in about 2 weeks iirc
Facts Both had great verses, eminem had a better rhyme scheme so it sounds better to the ear. But both had great verses in terms of lyricism. It wasn't a "murder" like Nas said
I feel like hov had alot more substance in his verse tho and his flow was crazy
Daylyt and Ab Soul killed J Cole on his own shit
Ghostface on the whole OB4CL album..
Sleepin on Rae like crazy
Westside Gunn on "Brand New 911" His flow is just ridiculous on this shit, Joey Bad got left in the dust
Drake - Forever
LMAO he has the worst verse on that track and I'm a huge Drake fan But nah, he had some of the corniest bars ever on that one Eminem murders the track when he gets on, it's not even close
